We had the worst hotel reception staff by the name of Guvance. After waiting in line for over 20 minutes due to an issue with guests checking in before us, Guvance decided to take out his frustrations on us. I had booked two non refundable rooms and we were very tired after working at a family event. We were hoping to check in without fanfare as every thing was booked on line. I mentioned to Guvance we had already completed this information on line. He chastised us in front of a line of at least 6 guests who were waiting in line behind us. Guvance shouted " I can just cancel your reservation ." I'm like really for what reason because we want to get to our room. He actually did cancel my brother's room which I had initially paid for. My brother called me to say Guvance charged his credit card. We eventually got our rooms. I will never ever stay at this hotel again. Guvance is very arrogant and disrespectful. read more

EVENT VENUE REVIEW ONLY: Last month, my husband and I visited the APA Hotel Woodbridge for an event. It was a friend's graduation party, which was being held inside Bogart's Lounge. It's a cute and versatile space with a chic and modern look. There are different seating areas available - chairs at tables, lounge-y seats, and by the bar. We had a nice short stay at the hotel. Our king size room was very spacious, but the space wasn't well utilized. Perhaps it would be nice for the hotel to consider adding a sofa or some sort of lounge area to make the room more functional. The Japanese bidet was a nice surprise and a great feature! Was really thirsty at night and didn't realize there was a water refill station inside the gym. Would be a good idea for the front desk to mention that at check-in or for the hotel to provide water bottles inside the room or install refill stations on each floor (next to the ice machines). Drinks were extremely overpriced at the bar...and there is a surcharge for paying with credit cards. So, either show up during Happy Hour or BYOB. read more

I've only come here for dental conferences on their first floor ballroom. It seems the facilities are clean and the servers are always polite. The breakfast buffet is standard, nothing amazing but nothing terrible. The lunch buffet is also the same. There is a wide variety of food though. Ample parking. read more

This place is OK for what it is. As someone who has stayed in many Japanese APA hotels, this is nothing like those hotels. It's not exactly the cleanest, the service is bare-bones, and the amenities are fine but minimal. The bathroom is also a mix of upgraded and not: the bidet is nice, but the shower curtain is so short that you inadvertently spray water everywhere and the bathroom is tiny compared to the voluminous size of the room. The location isn't particularly convenient to anything except nearby office buildings. You definitely get what you pay for. That said, all is not bad. The rooms are big, the beds are reasonably comfy, and the price is reasonable. If you just need a place to crash, this isn't the worst place. read more

Extremely Poor Maid Service. They don't know how to vacuum or fix beds. They'll place towels on your toilets. They'll enter your room without your permission for a half ass cleaning service and hopefully you don't have personal financial records out for them to snoop through. I was bit by bugs for 3 nights in a row, sneezing all through the night from dusty bedding and hopefully they were not bed bugs...the room was stuffy and the bathroom has no ventilation system. It's safe to come back... room renovations are long done, the lobby is finished, no bed bugs, and everything is running smoothly. Rooms are gigantic, the two restaurant offerings are fine if you want to stay in, and service is good enough. Elevators are still slow as molasses but all else is great. I still need an instruction manual for the remote controlled toilet, I'm afraid to touch anything on the controller. Price is right for the rooms and close to the metro park offices. read more

This place is full off unmotivated people, front desk never fails to disappoint. They don't even greet or smile. Staff that serves breakfast is all the more depressing, they don't have energy they look like someone has forced them to be there. I stay here quiet often and all the time it's the same experience. I go here because it's walking distance from my office, else I would never stay here. Coffee shop inside the hotel says Starbucks only because they use Starbucks coffee beans, what a pity I feel bad for Starbucks that this shop is ruining their name. The rooms were filthy. They smelled of smoke and mildew. I'm sure I contracted a cough and some throat infection. Drawers were broken and hanging off the hinges. I stayed there for a conference. Worst experience ever. Nothing worked: My in-room telephone did not work. I told 3 people but no one told anyone that mattered so they keep coming upstairs alerting me to that fact.....although I called from my cell phone multiple times to remind them. My key card kept repeatedly disconnecting, I had to inconvenience myself by repeatedly going downstairs 3 times to correct it. Then they unlocked and left my door open with my belongings unguarded unbeknownst to me. The bidet didn't work. Which is fine since it probably wasn't clean. There was some weird pink liquid all over the walls. There were fingerprints everywhere. Hospitality was the worst, I would recommend some type or training and a deep clean before they resume business. Not a happy client. Would never recommend staying here read more

Not the best hotel, but for the price, it's a good option if you're just looking for a place to sleep. It's pretty isolated in location so you'll need a car if you want to get food or go anywhere. Our room was spacious and had comfortable beds, however there was a large ceiling water bubble in our bathroom so you can tell the hotel needed some upkeep. There are a couple restaurants in the hotel, however we did not have the opportunity to try them. There's plenty of parking and I believe it is free. Slightly irked by the fact that we had to delay check in because our room was not cleaned yet. Staff was generally nice, although we didn't have to interact with them much. read more

( Marriott is only a 25$ hold ) When I asked to speak to management as to why I would be charged 100$ incidental since staff quoted me different policies ( per person vs per reservation confusion they had) A very RUDE gruff old cantankerous voice gets on the phone " your reservation has been canceled, leave this property " It took a moment for this to register as I had already paid about 150$ to stay & the money was taken from my account already . I replied : I'm not dressed being that I didn't plan to leave - I have no where to go for another 36 hours - nor do I have the funds to do so since I paid for now TWO nights at the APA . BED BUGS! They happen, sure. So they moved us to a different floor (11). Another bed bug. Management said they hadn't had a problem "for a while." A review 4 wks prior was telling. Employee told me in private there was a major problem and management wasn't taking it seriously. Both managers CJ and Nicole assured me that hotels.com would refund me. That .com would call, and APA would approve it. Our 3rd party "friend" whose app we're using was absolutely terrible to work with. I would give them a worse rating than the hotel! They say the hotel declined the refund. Nicole disputed that the 2nd bug was a bed bug, based on "her training." (On-the-job?) Google ID'd it as a non-pregnant female bed bug. Regardless, there SHOULD NOT BE A LIVE BUG on the pillowcase on the 11th floor at 3:30am!!! Nicole lied when she took my email and told me she would send the pest management report. When asked later she kept referring me to Octavian, who she said was handling my case. Octavian is never available when I call. Didn't answer my 2 voicemails. I'm not sure he exists. This place has problems and no competent management. The floor and table at check in were littered with popcorn, other food, drinks, some spilled. The room carpet was dirty, especially baseboards - just covered with dust, lint, crumbs. There were crumbs in the bathroom. Breakfast sausage tasted like refrigerator, reheated 4x. I did not enjoy my stay at this hotel. When I drove I to the parking lot, I was shocked to find it littered with trash and broken glass. Half of the parking lot is used as a long-term bus depot. The exterior of the hotel looked dated, however, the lobby was quite welcoming and modern. When I walked in to check-in, there was only one front desk staff member who was tending to another customer for at least 15 minutes. When it was my turn, he neither greeted me nor apologized for the extended wait. He then spoke on the phone during my entire check in process, while I stood before him. Unacceptable. They also automatically charge $40 to your card for "incidentals" which is fine, but I should have been told that up front. My guest room was very spacious. However, the details were all just a little wrong. The carpet was dark and musty, they curtains were falling off the rod, there were water rings on every desk/table and the furniture was all scuffed and the handles were falling off. I also couldn't adjust the air conditioning. The toilet does have a bidet system, but I would have instead preferred a properly draining shower and vacuumed carpets instead. My guest room did not feel clean and I could not relax. I woke up at the crack of dawn and headed out ASAP. The pool is still closed, I couldn't find the fitness room and the Starbucks was never open. I purchased this room from a third party site, but know that the asking price is way too high for what is offered--no where near 3.5-4 stars like advertised. FYI: long-term guests do stay here as well. I would NOT recommend this hotel. read more

We had a frustrating experience with this hotel. Made a reservation for a two-night stay with a few days' notice. Upon arrival, we were told that "due to unforeseen circumstances," the hotel did not have any rooms available. (A) I'm not sure how a hotel's room availability could be unpredictable. You know what reservations you have coming and going on any given day. The reservations are already paid for. If you don't anticipate having extra rooms, don't take more room bookings. It's not rocket science! (B) If you, by some stroke of bad luck, find yourself without any extra rooms, it's unacceptable to wait until a customer arrives to let them know. You have my phone number and my email address. To not use them to let me know is irresponsible and lazy. The behavior of the staffer covering the reception desk on 7/7 evening was wholly unacceptable, offering no apology, explanation, or compensation for the inconvenience. Will definitely not be staying here again. The hotel is advertised as 4-star on TripAdvisor and Hotwire, but a sleepy roadside motel would likely offer better customer service than this. read more

Oh man, gotta start with my favorite feature here. The HEATED TOILET SEATS!! It was a nice surprise when I went to the restroom, it caught me off guard at first and I thought something was wrong with the seat but soon realized this was the best thing since sliced bread. You can customize the heated seats, and it also has a bum washer and dryer! Pretty unique to find in a NJ hotel off a local highway. Stayed here 3 times, always a fast check-in and check-out. We have been staying here for an ongoing conference for months. Between the poor quality of food, creaky beds, moldy showers, swinger parties and lack of customer service I'm not sure why anyone would choose to use this hotel outside of for a rest room. If you have ANY other options, take them. If you choose to stay here plan not to sleep and have a Sense of humor or get so drunk you pass out. BED BUGS! - Management does not respond - STAY AWAY My wife and daughter did a one-night stay at APA Woodbridge in room 1130 middle of Sept 2019. My wife came home so badly welted that she had to take time off from work the next day to see her personal doctor. She was given steroids she was so bad. This is the second update I've written for this hotel, since it is again under new ownership, now APA, which I believe is a Japanese company. I come to this hotel once each year for a convention. The hotel is undergoing significant restructuring at this point, though the restructuring itself was not an issue. The most obvious changes are on the main floor, which has been completely redone. The front desk is now closer as you walk in, and the wood/brass decor and plush sofas have been replaced by modern tile, lighting, and furniture. The furniture is not comfortable both in plushness and feel. The cocktail lounge has been replaced by a smaller bar where the front desk used to be. I don't like that at all. Previously, I was willing to spend quite a bit of time (AND MONEY) in that lounge - I have no interest in doing that any more. For me, this area has lost all its charm. My group got a lot of mileage out of discussing the new toilets in the rooms, which feature heated seats and remote-controlled bidets. Okay, they're interesting to use, but if I am still going to have to jiggle the handle on the toilet to get the water to shut off, I'm not going to be impressed. Whoever designed the interiors on the sleeping floors around the elevators needs to go back to Functionality 101. I had a room near the elevators, and I was worried the elevators would be a distraction. They were not. However, the area around the elevators is now brightly lit with a tile floor instead of carpeting. Tile reflects light (conveniently under the doorway into my room). It also amplifies sounds, such as footsteps, anything with wheels, and voices. On the plus side, the bed was really comfortable, and maid service was speedy. But if you have a difficult time getting to sleep with noise and light filtering in, and you are given a room near the elevators, request a room in a different part of the hotel. WiFi was okay, though it did drop a couple times a day. I'd give it a B-. I was going to talk to the folks at the front desk about the elevator area issues when I checked out. Unfortunately, I was not really able to do that, because right before I was going to check out, something set off the fire alarms on the main floor, and the sprinklers went off all over the lobby and filled the lobby with over 2" of water. I don't consider whatever set off the alarm to be a problem with the hotel, and the fire department reacted quickly. But the staff's inability to handle things once they starting to get back towards under control was an issue for me. I don't want to say I had a bad time here, but I was not impressed at all. I'll continue to come here if my group continues to have its convention here. But if I were to stay in the area for other reasons and need lodging, I would definitely check out the other hotels in the area as well. read more
