They sent us a $25 coupon for teeth cleaning. I have gone to a few times since moving to dacula. The wife mentioned the $25 coupon setting the appointment for simple teeth cleaning. She set the appointment for the following day they never mentioned to bring the coupon in you think they would have a record of it. They sent the coupon to current clients.. when they were telling me my out-of-pocket with insurance is $160 seemed a bit high for teeth cleaning. I mentioned the coupon they said I had to bring it in. I had to have a hard copy of it. I told her this was not mention when the appointment was set and they were told about the coupon. I said then I'll have to come another time or find another Dentist she said OK fine bye so as I left I said I've decided that I will find another dentist as I exited. They do not seem to value their clients. very poor customer service at the front desk unable to make common sense decisions for the business and their clients. I have been going here for years and I always have a great experience (which is hard to say about going to the dentist). My care here has always been attentive, efficient, and pleasant. The office is always very clean and well decorated. My hygienist Jade is always so sweet and accommodating. You can really tell she puts in effort to make a better experience. The front office/ schedulers are all also very kind and have such positive attitudes. The doctors are very knowledgeable and have your best interests/ goals in mind with their care planning. I saw reviews on another site that were good (probably fake). So, my daughter and I started going here. My father took Rachel on June 7, 2022 at 11:am to Apalachee Family Dental. She explained to the male dentist that she had sensitivity on her back tooth. He said she was fine. Fast forward to January 9, 2023 at noon. Rachel tells Dr. Monira Uddin that she is still having the same sensitivity on her back tooth. This was the exact pain she had in June. Dr. Uddin shrugs and says that one of Rachel's roots on her back tooth is dead on that tooth maybe due to 1) trauma from not wearing a night guard and grinding teeth 2) maybe she bit down on something or 3) previous dentist drilling too far down in the tooth to do a filling. Rachel explained that she already told the other male dentist on June 7th that she was having issues, and he said she was good. He brushed her off. We now scramble to find an endodontist for my 18-year-old kid who had to have a root canal because Town Dentistry of Duluth had botched her filling according to Shadow Brook. The filling was fluctuating and killed her root. However, in June of 2022, the Apalachee Family male dentist told Rachel she was fine when she complained of pain. How was this overlooked and ignored? My appointment was in July and I liked the dentist, and the hygienist was great. I told her my mouth was small, so she used the child film to take pictures instead of cramming the bigger ones into my mouth. The male dentist said that my metal fillings would eventually need to be replaced due to expanding and contracting of metal. He stressed, "Not right now, but in the future." Fast forward to February 2nd. The male dentist was gone, and the new dentist was Dr. Monira Uddin. She said my tooth was cracked on the back right bottom, second molar from back. So, for the night guard that I needed to replace due to black mold and the white filling and crown, they said I would need to pay $659 and that they would be willing to have me pay $329.50 one month and $329.50 the next month since I did not have the money. Dr. Uddin showed me the picture of the crack in my tooth and said the previous dentist had warned me. He did not tell me I had a crack. He told me that metal fillings usually need to be replaced because they expand and contract over time. Dr. Uddin said she could redo the filling at once after my cleaning. Dr. Uddin sent me across the hall to a 30-year-old (she told me her age) dental tech who had no clue what she was doing. The standard of care was not there. She took a ridiculous amount of pictures of my tooth with this huge film even after I told her the other woman the time before had used small film since I have a small mouth. But she continued to cram the large film into my mouth and gums. I was getting increasingly stressed because she had her hands in my mouth for a long time continually trying to get better shots and had another machine taking shots of my teeth to fit the night guard. Dr. Uddin kept having her redo shots to get the bottom of my tooth which made her cram more film into my mouth until she finally listened to me and used smaller sized film. The inexperienced dental tech then tried to put a temporary crown over my filling that Dr. Uddin had just done, but she could not get the right fit. She kept drilling it and redrilling it, and then she said bite down. And of course it broke. So, she did another one, and finally I could not wait to get out of there. But she started to put fluoride on my teeth, and I said, "Wait, I don't want that." "She didn't listen and went on to apply it." Meanwhile time is ticking on. I get to work, and pieces of the cement and temporary crown are in my mouth. I am at work now and trying to scrape the thick goopy fluoride off my teeth because it looked like I had food in my mouth. The temporary crown did not even make it one week. I had to leave work early the next week because the temporary crown completely came off, and I had extreme pain like the kind you need before a root canal now that my tooth was naked without a crown. I had to miss work again to have the crown fixed, and thankfully the new permanent crown had arrived. In 2024 I told Dr. Uddin that I had sensitivity on either the tooth that she repaired with crown and filling or tooth no. 3. Her response was, "Well you have lots of cracks in your teeth." "What do you suggest?" I asked. "I don't know. Maybe see an endodontist." I followed her advice since she was unwilling to do anything, and the ATL endo told me I had a bad abscess on tooth no. 3. So, he had to try and fix an already fixed root canal that had been botched by Duluth dentist on Pleasant Hill who I turned into the GA Board of Dentistry. He is still botching people's teeth to this day. I noticed that Apalachee Family Dental will be sociable, but they avoid touching or looking at your teeth unless it's the actual dental hygienist. Paid them 4600 for some dental work. Had a bridge in the top front of my mouth after they cut my open my gum to remove old crown work. When it was said and done I have a hole in my gum that I can blow air thru out the front of my mouth. Now I have to make sure the opening is clean all the time with a water pic. And after all that money she says I owe more. And she'll send me to a gum specialist later! They told me if I wasn't completely satisfied I should say something. I'll keep this as blunt as possible.. the care and treatment here are great! The billing department is terrible. I'm fully insured and was paying over $100 out of pocket for a cleaning. I've paid over $200 a year for cleanings and was billed over $300 for a filling.. seemed weird so I had my wife check it out and she said I was paying too much for standard treatment. So, I contacted my insurance company and they said my EOB shows how much I was responsible for which was over 50% less than what Apalachee wanted me to pay in person. I suggest letting them bill the insurance company before coming out of pocket. I won't be going there anymore despite them providing good care. They need to investigate the billing dept. read more

I am a new patient... first DA wasn't the easiest to work with.. she didn't understand that I was disabled, but requested to see Dr. Brown anyway. WOW.. what a relief. Professional, and empathetic. Young Dr., but has a wonderful bedside manner. Listens to the patient and is polite to the DAs. His calm, and relaxed approach to seeing patients is very different from what I have observed from other locations. I started my Invisalign treatment from November 2018, the expected duration of treatment was 7 months. The treatment got delayed, which is not a surprise. My issue here is that I'm being billed for this treatment now, a year and 3 months later. In July 2019, my insurance company/policy changed but I thought it didn't matter because I was told that my treatment was already paid in full and was also told that Invisalign treatment won't be over until I'm satisfied with its results -- that Invisalign allows as many refinements as needed at free of charge. Turns out, none of these was true. In November 2018, Apalachee billing department incorrectly submitted the claim with missing information, more specifically "the anticipated treatment time" was missing. As a result, the insurance company, Humana, denied the claim. Finally, in August 2019, it took Apalachee 9 months to provide them what they needed, only it was not the correct number of months. My dentist informed me that the anticipated treatment time is 7 months, but the billing department submitted it as 12 months. II went every 2 months to pick up my new sets of trays and I was told that there was no balance due at the check-out, until February 2020, they presented a bill for almost 1k, the reason being that Humana stopped paying them because it terminated in July 2019. My concern here is, why does it matter if my insurance was terminated in July if it was billed correctly in November 2018 with the correct number of anticipated treatment months as 7 months? (7 months after November 2018 is June 2019, so Humana should have paid everything before it was terminated if the claim was filed correctly.) As soon as I got the bill, I contacted Humana to find out more details, and they addressed that Apalachee can submit a corrected claim. So I contacted Jamie, the billing person, and I had to email her twice (Feb 10 and Feb 20) for her to finally get back to me to say, "regardless of what doctor told you, you are still in treatment which means the treatment time exceeded 7 months". but wait, 1) Don't you submit all claims "before" the treatment is over 2) supposedly with the "anticipated" treatment period 3) that is "said" by the doctor? If this was done right from the start, we should have no problem now, and everyone should be happy. Additionally, the time exceeded 7 months because I took all the time I wanted since I was told the bill has already been taken care of. I took a vacay for 2 months from Invisalign, and it was delayed another month after an Apalachee staff accidentally dumped new sets of trays into the trash -- not to mention that they didn't find this out until I got there and it takes me 30 minutes to get there and an hour to get to work from there, plus I gotta wake up 2 hours earlier than usual for the appt, wasting total 3.5 hours of my precious time for nothing -- On top of that, yes I'm still in treatment because I'm on my third refinement, again, BECAUSE I was told there is no ADDITIONAL FEE for this, oh, and guess why? I'm not seeing the results that were promised! I am taking the time to write this long complaint because the worst part is, Jamie is not returning my calls nor emails. I had to express how disrespectful and unprofessional it is for her to not respond to me when there is an issue that needs to be handled. Another week has passed since then, but there's still no response. I have an appt coming up at this office, but who would like to go to a place that treats you this way? I had a horrible experience here on 11/13/18. I booked the first appointment of the day (7am) as I had to go to work by 8:30am. By 8am they hadn't even touched my teeth except for to say I needed a "deep cleaning" for the rampant gum disease in my mouth. I have had several years of orthodontia and the hygienist literally said "what good is straight teeth if they are just going to fall out". They proceeded to want to charge me hundreds of dollars - After getting a second opinion - my teeth were fine. My experience was miserable and I left with only x-rays to show for my 90 minutes. 1 year later - 11/19/19 My husband and son are there now and they are refusing to clean my son's teeth because he won't have his wires from his braces removed. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I have never heard of a dentist that cannot work around braces, do I understand its not easy, but legitimately done every day in offices everywhere. Please do not support this business. These situations are why people stop going to the dentist because they are made to feel "shameful" or "bad" about the shape their teeth are in or perhaps won't even attempt to render services because they have to (god forbid) clean around wires. read more

When we call to challenge and have them correct their error, the dental staff while very courteous acknowledge the error, yet refer an unsubstantiated debt to collections. I got great care from a dentist who has left this practice since, however, I went back in for bi yearly cleaning in March which was a NEW YEAR.. (Two free cleanings a year) after the cleaning I was not seen by a dentist which has always been the norm, and also received a bill for $100. I called my dental plan and they explained they had NEVER received anything from this place. No billing, nothing.. Yet Appalachee stated they were told (by my dental plan) I had reached my maximum.. It was all a lie to cover up their laziness. Please beware of this dental group. They are running a major billing scam. My family and I live in the Oaks subdivision, and we decided to try this group. I was there to get a routine cleaning and before I realized it, they were pushing me to sign a bill of almost 1,000. They did the same thing the day before to my wife and daughter. They stated my insurance Aetna would cover the charges, and they still refuse to file. They have continued to not bill Aetna and they charged me over 350.00 for an antibiotic. I have sent a certified letter and they continue to bill me. They did not follow Aetna protocol for the cleaning, and I am concerned they are doing this to other people. I just received a Bill and I'm not even sure why because I can see I paid the day of treatment . The bill doesn't even add up to any of the charges and gives no explanation. I've called several times but haven't gotten answers. I also have not gotten a call back. It has now been nearly 90 days so I'm forced to send payment or it goes against my credit . I will not recommend this place to anyone. Dentist was pretty good but unfortunately the billing department is terrible. I kept getting bills from them I called my insurance since they didn't cover a lot of the procedures that they usually cover. The person from my insurance said that the dental office filed the paper work wrong. I went to the office and they told me that the insurance lady will call the insurance to and get it fix. Well after few weeks got an other bill from them I called my insurance back and they told me that the office never called to fix my invoice. Well the insurance had to call the dental office and talk to them unfortunately the office never fixed my issue and I ended up paying so much more. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR TIME. read more

This is the best dentist I have ever been to. The experience was great from start to finish. I was very nervous and they were sympathetic to that. I hadn't been to the dentist in a few years due to bad experiences but they didn't chastise me like has happened in the past. My teeth were cleaned in a gentle but spectacular way. I felt cared about as a person, not just a customer. I wish I could give them more stars. When I went in for an appointment, the staff was very nice. The office was clean and the dental service was fantastic. With that being said, I'm not sure if I will be returning. I was charged $99 for the services and come to find out my bill was a lot less. I asked for a refund which they said would be issued to me in about 4 weeks. I received another call from the office trying to convince me to keep the credit on my account so they would not have to send me the check for the over payment. They told me it would now be 6-8 weeks to receive a check and they would prefer the credit on my account to stay. Poor customer service when it comes to finances. I hate to leave a bad review because I was very impressed by the experience I had in the office. I now realize I am not the only person experiencing these issues. Update: I emailed the office and they said they'd issue a refund. Instead of being refunded, they charged me AGAIN for the service I should be getting refunded for. The name of this practice is actually Apalachee Family Dental. I found the office staff very nice and professional; however, I didn't like the "chairside" manner of Dr. Kirkley so I didn't return. Lesson learned was to do thorough research beforehand. Check to see if dentist is a member of their state dental association (GA Dental Association and also American Dental Association). Has the dentist had many practice locations (different cities)? If so, why? A referral (which I didn't have) is probably very good to have too. read more
