So I was reading some of the other reviews on here and was a little skeptical when I called because I've been burned by Apartment People AND Apartment Finders but I can honestly say that Apartment Guys (AG) was far and above the other two! Let me first of all say that I was looking for an apartment for under $700 and never once did I feel like my agent didn't want to help me because of my price range (as indicated by David L.) and I received two different confirmation calls - which I thought was awesome since I never even received one from AP or AF. I also found it nice that my agent spent so much time with me over the phone going over every detail of what I was looking for so that when I got to the office I didn't have to wait around. We jumped in the car and immediately went to the first place. My agent was never pushy, always pleasant, and did a good job of acting like she cared (whether she actually did or not, I couldn't really care less as long as she wasn't rude or unpleasant in some way). I was shown 5 places and though the first two weren't great, I honestly had a hard time choosing between the last three; so the fact that I was shown at least three great places and that none of them were out of my price range OR outside of the neighborhoods I wanted shows that someone was listening when we spoke on the phone. The last thing I want to say is that when reading some of the other reviews, it's clear to me that most of the bad reviews come from a place of ignorance and impatience. The things that people seem to complain about are pretty insignificant when you consider that sometimes accidents happen, or sometimes people have bad days. C'mon people! I will say that I have used several apartment finder type places in the past and have had pretty mixed experiences. I was therefore pretty hesitant right before I used the Apartment Guys, but in the end it turned out to be a great experience. For once I felt like someone was listening to me. I gave a list of amenities, price range, and some areas that I wanted for an apartment. I was paired up with the Apartment Guys employee, Gina P. She was terrific (and even kinda hot). I was not taken to a single apartment that did not coordinate with my entire checklist, which is highly unusual for these type of companies. Me and my roommate were driven door to door to all of the places we checked out, all the keys worked, every one of the places were all available to view. It was a very smooth experience over all. Gina P. was very friendly and easy going. She turned the, what can be a painfully annoying, experience into a fun and exciting afternoon. My only complaint was that we found a couple of really nice places and it was difficult to make the final decision. In the end, we wound up with a huge apartment in Roscoe Village. I have lived in 10 different apartments on the north side of Chicago over the past 9 years, and I must say that the one we found that day with Gina P. and the Apartment Guys, and am still currently living in, is the best apartment out of my entire Chicago living experience. It is 100% going to be the first place that I have ever decided to renew a lease on after living in it for a year. I highly recommend The Apartment Guys if you are in need of an apartment. I cannot recommend their services enough, due wholly to the incredible assistance of Kyle Geistwhite. On a Tuesday afternoon, at 1pm, I called the Apartment guys because another appointment with a different leasing agency fell through, and within an hour and a half, Kyle and I were off to view about six different potential apartments perfectly suited to my criteria. He was punctual, friendly, incredibly polite, considerate, as well as savvy enough to engage the different management companies in conversation regarding specific benefits or terms of lease for apartments, for the purpose of providing me with necessary information that I didn't think to obtain. It was like being given the answers before the question even formulated. This cannot be underestimated, because he displayed an understanding and a thoughtful prescience to ensure that I was fully educated on each individual prospective unit. It was like having an incredibly knowledgeable friend look for apartments with you, with keys to all the right places, all the while looking out for your interests. He made sure i had time at each apartment to see all the amenities offered, and to just soak in each potential "home", but also strategized to ensure that we could maximize the time allotted so as to not be tardy to the next viewing. He knew the facts, obtained the information he wasn't positive about, and also offered great advice. i was so thrilled with my experience and it was such an amazing introduction to a future potential home. When I moved downtown 2 years ago my roomate was not able to come with me a lot and look at apartments. I easily met with 5 other apartment services, and every time I called ahead, I told them my requirements and scheduled a meeting. When I would get to the appoitment, I had to first wait, and then have to retell my requirements for an apartment all over again. Nothing was prepared, ever! I was shown some incredibly sub-par apartments ( the worst smelled like hamster shavings and cabbage and the apartment service rep. said it was "charming"). I was about at my wits end when I took a chance and called Apartment Guys and spoke with Kat. Kat not only listened to what I wanted, but checked in with me during the week to again confirm, and let me know she had found some awesome places. As soon as I got to the appoitment I knew this was going to be a different experience. We were shown quality apartments, within our price range, and we found an amazing apartment that day. Fast foward now 2 years later, and my roomate and I are moving in with another friend. We were looking for an updated condo, with equal bedroom sizes (basically unheard of) and we knew we had to call Kat again. Kat was diligent, supportive, and did an phenomenal job and found us exactly what we were looking for. I've reccomended her to all our friends looking for apartments and condos. In an industry where you have a lot of people who do not follow through, do not take what you are asking for seriously, and do not respect your time, Kat truly stands out. I was new to Chicago coming in from Memphis. I did some research prior to moving on my own but I was shocked at how difficult it was to find an apartment in Chicago. I have always heard mixed reviews about locators, but i figured it wouldn't hurt to try. Used a different service at first that I wont mention and they were horrible. Very unprofessional, my agent wore shorts and flip flops and seemed as if he didnt take his job seriously. After wasting my time I decided to walk around and maybe ill run into a for rent sign and it would be the perfect place. I saw the Apartment Guys office and decided to walk-in, thinking it would be the same as the other service. I was wrong. VERY Wrong. Very professional agents who understood my frustration. They were backed my market data and they knew the market very well. They told me to grab some coffee while they set up the appointment so 30 minutes later I received a call from my agent and we were ready to go. Showed me 4 awesome places and put in an application that day. The management company called me the next day and I was approved. My agent went out of his way to find a parking space for me for 90$/month. When i asked the agent from the other company about parking all he said was "maybe you can negotiate the price down" for a parking space? for $275/month? Apartment Guys is the way to go. I am shocked by some of the negative reviews here. It sounds like people expect locators to build them the perfect place. Be proactive and give them a chance! You wont be disappointed! read more

If i could give these guys a ZERO i would. I had read lots of negative reviews of apartment services like this in Chicago in general but decided to give AG a try on the recommendation of someone whose friend found her place through them. Big mistake. I gave my agent Rick ("your apartment search ends today!") a very specific list of what I wanted (safe area to walk home at night, within 10 minutes of the CTA and in a specific neighborhood). We began by getting stuck in traffic for 30 minutes on the way to pick up keys from another rental agent... only to find out the place was already rented. Waste of time #1. Then he showed me 2 awful apartments, each in very sketchy areas and far from the CTA - one place had drug deals going on outside... and perhaps because I was from out of state he still tried to convince me that the area was safe for women at night. TOTAL WASTE of TIME. A lot of these services seem to have access to the same places and my guess is that many of them are places that landlords or management companies have a hard time renting out. They are the the bottom feeders of the rental market. If you can afford it, go with a higher end agent, otherwise just walk around the area you like, that's how I found a great place... it was a bit more expensive than what I wanted to pay, but totally worth it. read more

Alright. I have to say I would suggest anyone moving from out of town to the big city to use these people. I heard about them from my girlfriend who had already used them twice with much success. I gave Apartment people a try first and thought they were pretty good. I had scheduled with the apartment guys a little later in the afternoon. I ended up finishing up way early with the Apartment people and then went to the Apartment Guys about an hour and a half early. I know this was a tad rude of me to catch my broker, Jill, off guard. She was great about it though!!! She asked for about twenty minutes to get things ready and off we went. I felt like the apartments were much higher quality than what I saw with apartment people. They also seemed more reasonably priced. Jenn Showed me about nine places. I finally found a place that was just right and went with the apartment guys. It was an excellent experience. I was a bundle of nerves considering I had a two day window to find a place. The apartment guys and especially my broker Jill made the experience a lot less imposing. read more

I disagree with Tom H. and Greg L.'s reviews. I found Ryan the manager at the Lakeview office to be very helpful. The day of my appointment I was lost and therefore running really late for my appointment and called the office instead of my agent's cell. I spoke with Ryan who was very understanding and gave me very specific directions. When I arrived at the office for my appointment I wanted to thank him for being so nice but he had gone to lunch. After seeing several units I decided I really liked one of them and called the next day to apply. My agent was on another appointment at the time, but I stopped by to drop off my application with Ryan. He was very knowledgeable and to my surprise, also very HOT! If you ever need help finding an apartment call the Apartment Guys. They work mostly on appointments and have a list of properties ready to show you when you arrive. So you only wait a few minutes, not a few hours like the other more popular apartment finding services. My place is perfect and it was under the maximum I stated I wanted to spend, too. read more

Wow. Really? Apartment Guys is the only decent apartment-finding service I've found in Chicago. Why? Because they show you ONLY GOOD APARTMENTS. Having suffered through absurd service from both Chicago Apartment Finders and Apartment Savvy--neither of whom delivered a single livable space--I and my roommate contacted Apartment Guys (after a glowing recommendation from a friend). Every one of the apartments they showed us was a great place; we simply chose a favorite from the bunch. I subsequently recommended the service to my significant other, and she was equally pleased. It's strange that the reviewers here are attributing problems with their landlords to an apartment-search agency. Um, they're not related. By the way, our representative was Moona, mentioned unfavorably below. Moona was awesome. When my lease is up in April, I don't doubt she'll find me a great new place to live. read more

I can not say enough great things about Kathryn Prawdzik, the agent I worked with at Apartment Guys Gold Coast. I first used her two years ago when I was looking for a two bedroom apartment with big rooms, and great location.....she found JUST THAT!!! Now......two years later I am looking to move into a three bedroom and she came to the rescue again! She picked out so many apartments that were in our criteria and did a great job at only showing us ones in the locations I wanted and the price range I was looking for! Now I am moving into an AWESOME new condo with three bed three bath! She was VERY flexible with my busy schedule as well as ALWAYS staying in contact with me, no matter what hour or day it was! Apartment Guys of Chicago is one of, if not, the best apartment finding service in the city of Chicago. After using Chicago Apartment Finders last year I was left dissatisfied and ready to move out of what they claimed as the best listing for me. First off their agent, Chris, seemed unsure, picked horrible places, found few selections and was misleading about what was included in the lease. Kathryn Prawdzik from Apartment Guys made Chris look like an amateur. She was completely flexible with her schedule, incredibly professional, ready to answer any and all questions, found a great selection of places to choose from and found exactly what I was looking for; price, location, everything. I was searching for an apartment for me and my current roommate for the both of us and was having no luck at all. Stressed with an intense deadline, one of my friends recommended Aisha. We began communicating and she definitely took an interest in my needs and desires. We ran into a lot of summer festivities when she drove me around but she was so persistent which I'm very grateful for. It was my first real apartment and she helped me so much along the way. My experience with apartment guys was amazing. I was abroad looking for an apartment in Chicago and thankfully came across Aisha Pulido, who found me the best deal in only one night. She is super attentive, very diligent and most important she genuinely wants to help you! I am in love with the apartment she found me. She listened to what I needed, since I was not a local gave me recommendations about the area I should look apartments in and the buildings that would fit better with my needs and my best options regarding furnishings. Our consultant Jill, took down the list of our required amenities and price range and found us the perfect apt in an incredible location. Our requirements were a bit tough, but Jill was able to find us an apartment in Wrigleyville on the first try. Location is prime, price is right, and there is no way I would have found this apt on my own. I have used so many other services and Apartment Guys were by far the best! I never thought i could get something decent with my price range and i love where i live now. When i walked in I was greeted with a smile and we were out the door in 5 minutes. Everything they showed me was awesome and i had a tough choice to make. My agent listened to everything i had to say and even printed out a list of dog parks in the area because he remembered that i had a dog. One of the places was rented before we got there and traffic was a little rough getting to the first place but i'm glad we got there because its where i live now. One of the best services in Chicago! I really enjoyed the Apartment Guys. The Stephanie that worked with me was great! She was nice, funny, and more than willing to work with me on my price range. Additionally, I was having a hard time finding apartments that would accept both my cat and my dog. Stephanie found me multiple apartments that fit all my requirements and she wasn't pushy about trying to get me to rent an apartment that I maybe didn't want, couldn't afford or wasn't sure of.
