Update, i had to knock my review down 2 stars. Mike is still great! He owns the shop now, but…read morestill only works on A/C. He has some other guys who i think are renting space from him, doing other car work. I was very unhappy when I had my car towed there for the starter to get fixed. They replaced it, but then when I went to pick it up it wouldn't start. they looked at me like I was dumb. Sure enough, something else was wrong. it took them 2 hours to diagnose a bad relay, and yes, they charged me for the labor. not happy. i'll only be coming here for a/c work, not for other car things. Mike is a one-man show at Clear Lake Auto Air. He rents space in the transmission shop, his office is in the back. Just ask any of the mechanics for Mike the A/C guy and they'll point you in the right direction. Mike is a good, ol' fashioned, honest mechanic. ALL he does is car heating and cooling. He will recharge your freon for less than 40 bucks, and won't put you through all of the hassle of the leak check and bla bla bla. Within 6 months of moving to Houston, the A/C had gone out on both of my cars. My poor northern babies couldn't handle the southern heat. Mike replaced both of my systems and gave me honest quotes and great insight into how to keep my A/C from crashing again. Every once in a while I stop by when something is on the fritz with my a/c...most recently, a leaf in my blower, and he will help me out...for FREE! this guy is awesome. highly recommended.

We pulled my truck in the garage put the gauges on it and tried to put Freon in it. After 30 min of troubleshooting Mike told me his observations and he came to the conclusion that it was something he want to tackle, but sent me somewhere that might be able to help. Mike it didn't fix my problem and he didn't charge me a dime either. Most importantly he gave me his honest advice told me what to look for and what he would recommend having replaced. Mike currently owns the transmission shop. He says he has a great transmission builder and the shop is nice and clean. I wouldn't hesitate to bring my or anyone else's vehicle there for work. HONESTY!

I left a bad review on Google because they didn't have the right fluid. I'm leaving a bad review on…read moreYelp because they lied in their Google response. I came to this AAMCO for a transmission drain and refill. The car dealer only wants to do a high-pressure flush which is not what I want. My vehicle requires a very specific transmission fluid, so before any work started I asked to see the fluid they planned to use. That turned out to be a very smart decision. After some hesitation, the technician finally showed me the fluid, and it was not the correct specification for my vehicle. I then asked whether I could provide the correct fluid myself, and I was told they would only use the fluid they had in stock. Because of that, there was no work done on the car. That alone would have been enough for a poor review. What made it worse was the owner's public response to my Google review. Instead of acknowledging that the shop did not have the correct fluid for my car, the response falsely claimed my transmission had internal problems and suggested that was why the service was not done. That is not true. I was never given any diagnosis of an internal transmission problem. The issue was simple: they did not have the correct fluid and would not allow me to provide it. I've contacted their corporate customer service as well and I await a response. If you are bringing a vehicle here for transmission service, verify exactly what fluid they intend to use before they touch your car. Based on my experience, I would not trust this shop with any transmission service.
