This is very disappointing. I contacted Apex Plumbing for a water heater replacement. When I asked questions about pricing, the contractor became frustrated and seemed to take my questions personally. The main issue was a lack of upfront clarity: the initial quote of $2,100 didn't specify it was a cash price. When I asked if paying cash would change the price, he then said $2,100 is the cash price, and paying by credit card adds 4%. This was not mentioned initially, which felt misleading. When I questioned this, he said: "I'm not rejecting you. Anyone who insults me with dishonesty doesn't deserve my services. I pride myself on honesty and transparency. I treat all my customers with respect and kindness. I am one of the kindest contractors you will come across. But for you to question my honesty is an insult." Transparency and clear communication are essential in good business practice. Any professional contractor should state upfront: "$2,100 cash, +4% if paying by card." Because the full picture wasn't communicated when it mattered, it's understandable that I felt the situation was not handled honestly. read more

During a remodel of my backyard, my general contractor hired Apex Plumbing to handle the routing and connection of a gas line underground. Unfortunately, what should have been a straightforward job turned into a pretty frustrating experience. During the work, the owner of Apex Plumbing (Gus) made a mistake with a connection that ended up causing a gas leak. About a month after we notified them of the issue, Gus came out to take a look and, at least initially, openly admitted that the problem was caused by their work. At that point, I assumed the situation would be handled the way a professional company typically handles their mistakes. That assumption didn't last long. Once the repair work was completed and the full cost of the damage became clear, the story suddenly changed. The same owner who had previously acknowledged the mistake began backtracking and denying responsibility. Instead of standing by what he had already admitted, he started suggesting that literally anyone else could be responsible. At one point he even floated the idea that my two very small children, who were never allowed anywhere near the construction area for obvious safety reasons, might somehow have disturbed a buried gas line under the dirt. It was a fairly creative theory, if nothing else. Because of that convenient reversal, the general contractor ended up stuck with a significant bill to repair the damage and make the area safe again. What left the worst impression wasn't the original mistake, errors happen on construction projects, but the way the situation was handled afterward. Acknowledging fault when it seems easy and then quietly changing the narrative once the repairs are done and the invoices show up feels less like professionalism and more like strategy. In the end, the lack of accountability made an already inconvenient situation far more expensive and stressful than it ever needed to be. read more

Over this past summer my husband & I decided it was FINALLY time to get our backyard done and turn it into our dream backyard. We had been saving for literally YEARS! We found a fantastic contractor and made the plunge. We put in grass, concrete & a whole bbq island. When everything was complete we were able to use our bbq island for exactly 1 month. After that we had no gas going to any of the appliances but we smelled gas outside. We contacted our contractor & him and the plumber Gus of Apex Plumbing Incorporated came out and unfortunately said they would have to cut into our brand new concrete to get to the pipes because they had concluded there was a gas leak. Our contractor had assured us we wouldn't have to pay anything since we did nothing wrong. However, Gus didn't want to take any responsibility. He tried blaming my husband or I had "kicked" the line and that's how it got loose or that my toddler came out into our dirt construction zone of a backyard and did it. When we didn't allow our kids in the backyard until the work was complete. He also tried blaming it on our contractors workers. Our contractor was on getting this problem fixed for us fast! When the concrete was open the plumber suddenly changed his mind and admitted that he made a mistake and he would take responsibility and pay to fix the problem. When everything was said and done and fixed. The plumber changed his mind, again! Decided he wasn't going to pay the $1700 it was to cost to fix everything. He felt that it wasn't his fault that the line came loose and leaked. Our contractor wasn't trying to make any money he only wanted him to pay to make it right. That consisted of his workers coming out breaking our concrete, plumber fixing the leak, workers pouring concrete to fill back in the large space they had to cut. That area in our bbq island will always have that patch cut out, it won't look even with the rest of the concrete, all because a mistake was made and it escalated to a place it should never had. My husband and I are understanding people, we know mistakes happen and taking accountability goes A LONG WAY! It's a huge show of character and how you go to business. read more

Had a main water line leak and needed someone out quickly. Gus was very quick to respond and gave a more realistic answer than what everybody else was saying. He was able to send his team out faster than competitors, and since it could be a big deal with this type of leak, speed was critical! First technician came out and was able to find the leak within an hour (he had to dig about a 4 foot trench, 3-4 feet deep). He was very polite, knowledgeable, and efficient, and knew exactly what he needed to fix the leak (not multiple trips to the home improvement store needed). Gus and his team were so great, I inquired about them hydro jetting my sewer lines (had slight plumbing issues for a while, and other companies couldn't resolve). Within an hour, another of Gus' team were at the house showing me a borescope inspection and walking me through the process and giving me a play-by-play of what the issues were. Again, they were very courteous and knowledgeable. With regards to value: the minimum to find the leak was fair market, price to fix it was understandable (knowledge and capability have understandable costs), and the hydro jetting and borescope inspection (before and after) were also on par with the market, potentially even a little cheaper considering we're in Southern California. All-in-all, I highly recommend giving Apex Plumbing a call, and working with Gus. Him and his team will take care of your needs! read more
