When a situation like this happens, as a customer, you want to feel like someone cares about your problem as much as you do. Some other plumbers told us they would call us in a couple days which obviously left us desperate. Jed at Apex Plumbing really took care of us. Even though I called late in the day he gave me personal attention and was sure to follow up to give me updates on the status, texts to make sure his team had arrived and followed up a couple times the same day to make sure we were in good shape. I hired Apex to repair a drain and waste valve at my residence. The job consisted of excavation and replacement of the valve due to a water leak that only occurs when the valve is open. the valve was also extremely hard to open and close due to its age. After paying Apex nearly $4,000 to replace the valve, the water leak remains. I have called several times and emailed just to get a representative from the company to come out and take a look at the issue. This company has ignored my phone calls and emails. Apex WILL NOT be there in the event of an issue with their service. I DO NOT recommend Apex Plumbing for these expensive repairs as they will not even pretend to back up their work. Most of the major plumbing companies use sewer line repair as a major revenue source and overcharge customers! They may even tell you it's a public health issue and should be done right away. I can't recommend APEX Plumbing. tl;dr: Based on my experience and reading the other Yelp reviews, I'd say they are great at doing sewer work and not so great at doing water service lines. Their communication before, during, and after the project left A LOT to be desired. Additionally, for a company that prides themselves on turn key work and leaving everything in the same condition it was found, they definitely fell short with my job. --- After doing a lead water test from Denver Water, I found out my water service line was made of lead, and I worked with Denver Urban Renewal Authority (DURA) to get the line replaced. In the bidding process, DURA selected them for the job because it was the lowest bid. After the line was replaced, I found out they were the only bid submitted, which was done on 1/17/2018. When they gave me an estimate for my project in early February, they suggested we use their mole borer because of the location of my existing water line. They also said using that method would require the least amount of demolition inside my house. The water service line comes into the house in my bedroom through the floor, so I was glad Jim, their estimator, had a plan for minimizing the impact to my life & house. Jamie, who schedules the work, said the job would only take 1 day. It took over 2 months to get my project scheduled, and I had to follow up multiple times with Jamie to check on the status (part of this delay was the Denver Water being slow, but I'm not sure how much... I was told by DURA it should take 2-3 weeks). Their crew showed up without any knowledge about what we'd talked about during the estimate. Their crew didn't want to use my front door for access and instead opted to walk on my freshly planted grass seed to access the back door. This only stopped after I asked their supervisor, Mike, to ask them to use the front door. After looking at my existing service line, Mike, said that they were not going to be able to replace it in the manner I discussed with the estimator, so more demolition was necessary and they started jackhammering the floor and dismantling the cabinet containing all the water valves. Their crew used duct tape to secure the plastic sheets, and when removing them after the first day, the duct tape took off paint from my walls and ceilings as well as left residue on my floors. Blue painters tape was used a few places, but I have no idea why it wasn't used everywhere like it should have been. They worked all day at getting to a state where they could replace the line. Mid-afternoon, I was notified that the job wouldn't be completed that day. At the end of the day, my bedroom was left in an unusable state. The next day, the crew arrived early and continued on their work. They did not put out protective plastic throughout the house for this day's work like they'd done the previous day. More jackhammering of the floor/foundation was done. They got the new water service line installed mid-afternoon and they then focused on putting everything outside back together. They poured a new concrete patch for the sidewalk that was removed and filled in the parking strip with dirt. The meter pit they installed is about 2-3 inches too high, so it'll be an obstacle to avoid while mowing once grass is planted. They said the job was done even though nothing was put back together in my basement. I had to contact them again to get this addressed. After contacting Jim about the incomplete job and explaining the difference between what I was told they were going to do and what actually happened, he apologized for any miscommunication, but said "Unfortunately the Dura program is always low bid, so any better technology causing additional costs are rarely included." This wasn't what he said during the estimate. Jim said that Mike would come by to "check the grade of the meter pit and address any other tie up issues," but he never showed up. Someone from APEX came by to verify the sprinklers were working. He agreed about the meter pit being too high and said they should be able to fix it. Mike did not show up to take care of the basement or the meter pit & shutoff that were set to high. Denver Water came to inspect their work and agreed the meter pit & shut off were too high and failed their inspection (with an additional issue related to the install inside the meter pit). Jim finally responded to my email saying since it's a DURA job, interior repairs are not included. If this was the case, Mike shouldn't have said he'd fix it. Three days after they "completed" my job, a crew showed up to fix the height of the meter pit & shutoff valve. While fixing this, they cracked a large paver in my flagstone walkway that's between the curb and sidewalk. It's now been seven business days since my job was "completed". My basement is still torn apart, I still have cracked paver, and I haven't heard anything from Apex about getting this taken care of. read more

After a weekend away we came home to very low water pressure. The water department confirmed I had a water leak in the line from the meter into the house. Contacted APEX and Lyric was out the same day. The crew started on the job the next day and finished up the next day. The guys put everything back together even better than was before. This review has nothing to do with the actual plumbing work. I expect they can handle that but the complete job which includes leaving my front yard looking the way they found it. Those are the details that separate companies in service industries like these. Let's start with the fact that I was given a start time of 830-900 a.m. Well the did not show up until 245 pm. They got to work and we're efficient, great. But the contract I signed stated they would make a reasonable attempt to leave the landscape as they found it. The attached pictures say otherwise. Wow I wish I would've read all of these reviews before I hired Apex plumbing. It would have saved me six months of stress and frustrations! Like everyone else on here I was promised to have my sewer line replaced and the yard would look the same way It did before they started the work. They claimed they were finished installing the sewer line, all the grass in my backyard was gone all that was left with dirt and mud. At two large puppies imagine how well that went over. Which reminds me that when they left for the day of work they did replace the fence so my dogs got out, after finishing their day of work. Six months later after I had been fighting to get everything fixed the owner finally got involved! I started dealing with owner, who was rude and very confrontational. I realized... I had my home under contract and when the buyers inspector came he discovered a leak in the main water line coming into the home. I got a quote from Brothers for between 10,000 and 11,000 to replace the water line. I called my plumber who immediately referred me to apex. Lyric Black came that very day and faxed my son the great quote. The work began the middle of the following week. The crew cam e on time and finished the work the same day. The biggest problem I have is that they sort of replaces the sod which had to be removed many inches higher than the original replacement and now it is dead. The second most difficult issue is that they had to come through the front door and go downstairs into the basement. They laid down this paper thin plastic to supposedly protect the carpet and the stairs going into the basement. I am 77 years old and am in a wheelchair so I am unable to go into the basement. By the time the men were done the plastic was torn and left a mud trail on the main floor and down the stairs and into the basement. The men wore blue booties which eventually were caked with mud so my basement also had clumps of mud. Then nobody told me they had to drill the cement wall and the result was cement dust all over that section of the basement. I had two rugs that they did not move and they are still covered with mud. In addition the men did not close the basement door when drilling the basement wall so cement dust was all over my walls and on my Andy Warhol rugs and all over my cherry hardwood floors. Basically they left the basement a muddy mess in addition to all the items in that section of the basement covered with cement dust. I called Lyric several times to get somebody out here to clean up the mess and nobody ever came. When Lyric called to get the second helf of the bill paid I again reminded him of the mess. My son went into the basement to sweep up the mud clumps but the dust remains and the rugs still dirty and the cement dust remains on the walls into the basement. The proposal date was 5/1/19 the proposal #022184 In addition my entire basement is wrapped with the heavy plastic which is all torn up. Lyric said all this would be cared for and here we are 45 days later and no help from Apex. I guess I will have to call my plumber and advise him about the interior mess and the dead sod. However the water line seems to be working just fine, but the mess afterwards is extremely poor workmanship. Lyric also said they would mail me receipts for the work in addition a copy of the permit with the city. I will be putting my home on the market soon and the original contract was for one million dollars. Apex replaced a large chunk of our sewer line. Their price compared to most was quite a bit better mainly because they actually do the work as opposed to a plumbing company that subs it out, significantly marking up the cost and passing that onto the customer. They got it all done in one very long day in the middle of the winter and did a great job. One issue we had is that we would have liked them to compact the new material much better. We have had quite a bit of sinking in the area where the line was replaced. Probably close to 12". Other than that I would recommend them anytime. read more

So we bought a house with a bad sewer line........the owners hired Apex to fix it. We had nothing to do with that and the sewer video seems like they did their job. While they were doing their job they completely wrecked my underground sprinkler......So I called them after turning it on knowing that the water pouring out of the dirt they left meant there was an issue. Well......"We understand this happens and we'll be there (the Monday we scheduled someone to come......pre-arranged time) and what do you know. NO SHOW!!!! Took an entire day off from work. Well.....I call end of day and leave a message saying hey you never came or called and I get a call next morning saying Sorry we'll be there today before noon. It was raining so I said Please do not waste my time if they aren't going to come......We will call you 45 minutes before. Well at 130pm that day I called them and said what the heck. Won't wait forever. They said yes we will be there before noon the next day Wednesday. At 1pm I c......yes he's on his way and he finally arrived at 330pm. Well.......REALLY NICE GUY who apologized and said sorry for the issues. He got right to work and BAM we had a resolve EXCEPT that he didn't finish and said he'd be back the next day. That day came and went. HE arrived at 2pm the following day, a day I couldn't afford to take off due to money lost and after I HAD TO FILL IN THE WHOLES THE DUG he came back and half fixed something he said he would help with. (although this wasn't something they broke) but he said he would do it and he basically left it worse that before. So now I have to dig that hole up and continue the work he left behind. Again NICE GUY.....very helpful at word but not in deed. I wouldn't use them nor would I recco them to anyone because of how this was handled. Terrible service and although nice enough people sadly that isn't enough to get the job done. DON'T USE APEX. Not worth the hassle even though they try and have decent intentions. read more

They have a staff that is easy to reach and communicate clearly. I cannot recommend Apex. They recently installed new water line from our home to the water meter at street. Job was technically difficult and required more digging than anticipated which I cannot find fault with but communication was very poor. And it took multiple phone calls to get the clean up crew back on site. What made it worse was after phone calls from me voicing frustration, they called and asked me to pay bill before they had even cleaned up job site or finished repairs to damaged sprinklers and grass. read more

I had Apex Plumbing replace my 70ft sewer at my old home in Denver. The sewer pipe went under the house and I was doing an addition so I had to get it replaced. They pipe bursted the section under the house and dug a 25 ft trench for the rest. I don't think you could get better customer service from any other company. They were very helpful answering all my questions every step of the way and if something needed changed they were right on it. This guys did a great job on our sewer line repair in June 2013. Due to a water feature in the backyard, they were forced to excavate 12' by hand to make the repair. We've been in the Mayfair neighborhood (east Denver) for over 30 years. Our houses are from the late 1930's and 1940's; several of our neighbors have had sewer blow-ups resulting in emergency trenching operations that have ruined their front yards and cost many thousands of dollars. We have a huge silver maple tree and concrete/flagstone patio in the front yard. So we hired APEX to do a trenchless operation that required them to work with the city (as Denver is the only municipality that requires an exemption from trenching) for a permit. The job was completed on time, on budget and, thanks to a great working relationship with the city, APEX was able to protect the integrity of our landscape. And now we don't have to worry about future sewer disasters....... Kudos to Charlie, the on-site supervisor and his crew! read more

Very frustrating experience with Apex. Hired them at the recommendation of my Realtor to fix a sewer line, and install a new floor drain in the utility room of the house I purchased. Got a quick estimate, and was able to schedule the work at a convenient time. No issues with the sewer line repair. The floor drain was a different issue. They showed up multiple hours late on the first day, and continued to do so throughout the project (2 day job that became 8.) Never got phone calls from them regarding what was going on. Ultimately the work got done, and they did offer me a discount for the issues. But the process was anything but smooth. read more

These guys were great overall and gave a very reasonable estimate I could live with for replacement of my water line into the house. Then they took care of it in record time. The only issue was that my drainage was blocked by an earth berm left when they put my landscaping back together and of course it had to rain cats and dogs two days later! I did get some leakage from that but they responded quickly to me and took care of it within hours of my calls for help. Special props to Rob! He ruined some nice shoes fixing that drainage issue and he's a surgeon with a backhoe so if you need major earth work on your plumbing this is the guy you want at the helm of that beast! read more

Apex was not efficient in locating a leak in my house water system. They came here the first time and did NOTHING! Even though, I had American leak detection show them where the leak was underground. They said there was no leak detected. After 2 weeks they came the second time, still with the same scenario, and I had to call my plumber on a weekend(he charges time and a half) to help them understand what to do! Lyric, the man with Apex, as a supervisor, said he would be here on the job, but wasn't until my son got on the phone with him, insisting he show up at my home. His attitude was less than pleasant! The proposal I had agreed upon, was to include removing and replacing sidewalk if necessary. That did not take place because they were able to tunnel underneath and repair the pipe where leak was. However they charged me $ 5,700.00 to do a job that should have been easy to repair. Both my son and myself argued over the cost to no avail. I will never recommend this company! read more

This company is entirely unprofessional. The fix and flipper next door asked us to sign a release for this company to do work in our yard for a non critical repair (confirmed by Denver Sewer). When our other neighbor declined to have them make this repair in their yard, it stopped the repair process. In order to sell the home, they had to make alternate plans with Apex. This evening I came home from work to find a hand written note on yellow notebook paper from Apex "Your sewer is out of service until 9pm" without any contact information to follow up. No advanced notice was given. They knocked on our door after 5:30pm to tell let my non english speaking visiting relative know. I am 5 days away from my due date with a 2 year old at home without a working sewer system and no notice was given until my sewer was "out of service". They did not call me back When we were vetting out what they were trying to do initially, the technical guy (Jim?) was not very informative nor reassuring that our lawn/driveway/deck would be back to present state. When I brought up the negative reviews I saw online, he entirely dismissed them and said that anyone can comment online. While I cannot comment on their work, their approach in working with neighbors absolutely suck. Based on that alone, I would not recommend them if you would like to stay on friendly terms with your neighbors. read more
