Nathan with Drain Terrier was awesome. I had a rather large job; replacing a whole home water shut off valve and a broken pressure regulator valve, fix some of the previous owner's diy abs sewer line issues, and installing a sink that required about 20 feet of drain lines and water lines run. Nathan got the job done in 2 days, one of those days he was here for a full 12 hours, but it probably should have taken 3 or 4 days. This company cycles through employees so frequently that no one has correct information or knows what they are supposed to be doing. Misinformation and poor communication among employees has made what should have been a simple fix into a months-long headache and I have a tenant who has been counting on this repair, yet after different technicians being out four times, nothing has been fixed. I am changing what used to be a 5 star review to a one star review. A couple years ago, I used these guys for some plumbing needs and they were great. Family-owned business and I liked the owner. I got a new home and decided to call them again, and boy I made a big mistake. Not sure what happened in the last two years but had to come back and change my review. First, they told me they would be here from 8-9. This was a time they offered up as I was trying to get them to come earlier, but decided it made more sense and since they said I would be "first up" on their schedule, I figured fine why not. At 9:20 I texted them asking what their ETA was. At that point I received a text changing my appointment to 9:30-10:30. At 10:50 a technician showed up. I showed the guy what I needed, mentioned that I'd used them before and said I just wanted the same thing they offered me last time. He said "our system is different now hold on" and he proceeds to pull out an iPad that has prices ranging from $780-$2,500 for the "platinum" package whatever the hell that means. I just needed a faucet replaced, which I thought would be no more than $400 or so (a little higher than the price I paid two years ago). He told me "well prices have increased" and I said not by that much. I asked him to explain how much of the price was parts, how much was labor, and he said it's the flat rate they charge for that job. When it became clear that he was not going to budge, I politely asked him to leave. There are so many other options, and maybe I should have been a little smarter about doing it in a cheaper way, but the way I was treated on scheduling and the company's scammy pricing was enough to have me come back and change my review. read more

I have no idea why anyone would rate this company highly. The service person John was not courteous to me, was downright rude to his assistant. Beyond that he offered to add a camera to the drain clean out for no charge then proceeded to tell me that there is a problem in my line. There was no outside marking, what I understand to be green painted x where the supposed issue exists and when asked for a copy of the video was told I could not have it because I might use it to get competitive bids. In addition John insisted on moving my stacked washer and dryer unit which was completely unnecessary and then had to be asked multiple times for it to be put back in place. It is not placed correctly and now is off balance which will have to be corrected by someone else. Finally, there is a basement shower next to the main sewer clean out that John could clearly see was backed up and when asked to help ensure this was resolved indicated than an additional $250, beyond the original $325 cost would be required to even look at it. I had to pay a new provider to come look at it incurring further cost. I would strongly suggest you find someone else to assist with your drain needs. read more

My hot water heater died yesterday morning; called Drain Terrier first thing, and they sent out Kris by 10 am. He diagnosed the problem, and I had a new water heater by end of day (it was old and died a natural death). I have used them before, and as before, he offered a choice of price points; I chose the right one for me, no pressure. He did excellent and meticulous work, and installed a quality product. Also, he was a hoot, and enjoyable to work with. They are my go to company for plumbing; a family business, and woman owned, for this if you that appreciate that. Awesome! read more

Our service technician was great. Professional and communicative. The company business practices weren't great. Advertising $0 trip charge and then charging $85 upon arrival (waved if job was accepted) felt like bait and switch. Paying fully upfront felt weird as well. They charge by the job not by the hour and their "Basic" on the menu was several hundred dollars. We ended up replacing the faucet ourselves. read more

Unfortunately, I did not check beforehand, and it cost me $429 for less than thirty minutes of work--without the use of any parts. My goal here is to help others avoid going through what I did: it's not only the money, it's the feeling of being taken advantage of. I contacted Drain Terrier because my garbage disposal had disconnected from the sink. When I spoke with Savannah, the owner, she quoted an $85 service fee and assured me that, since this sounded straightforward, the total would likely be close to that amount if no new parts were required. That felt reasonable. The technician arrived later that afternoon. He looked under the sink, explained it would be classified as an "under the sink repair," and quoted $429. He also tried to upsell me on an even more expensive package. Since I'm not a plumber, I trusted his assessment, thinking it must be a bigger job than just reattaching the disposal. Given the price, I assumed the work would take a couple of hours. Instead, after about 10-15 minutes of actual work--mostly reconnecting what was already there--he declared it done. Total time on site: under thirty minutes. I immediately called Savannah to express concern. She told me she would check with Ben and get back to me. Later she said, since no parts were used, the cost should be reduced by 20%, bringing it down to $343.20. That still works out to the equivalent of $686-$860 per hour. When I questioned this, she insisted "everybody charges that much." After researching, I found that to be untrue. Instead of addressing my concern, she argued, telling me how difficult it is to run a company. As a business owner myself, I understand overhead costs--but I also know how to treat customers fairly. This company's pricing and handling of complaints left me feeling misled and disrespected. If you value transparent, and honest service, I recommend looking elsewhere. read more

I called these guys in the morning and they came out that afternoon and replaced my entire water heater. (Not called a "Hot Water Heater" LOL). They listened attentively to my complaint, ask for some pictures sent via text of the existing unit. In 15 minutes they returned with a verbal estimate and followed it up with a written estimate. I approved it and the repair was done in 2.5 hours! The quality of workmanship with the installation was impeccable. I needed to have this done as soon as possible and not have it dragged out for days. These guys got in there, did the work and got out! Now I can have some well deserved peace of mind. I had Drain Terriers come out in install a new tub and the plumbing line. Upon them coming out they sent over their contract. After reviewing the contract where they clearly state 1/2 down and 1/2 when job is finished. I agreed to the terms and they came to my house and did the job. My sister who was funding this project witness them breaking the corner off the edge of the tub. She called them out on the issue. They told her they would fix the issue. So now I have to make sure that corner is glued on right. Well they finished the job and told me I owed them all of the money. Even though they are to come back and install the fixtures. There was a debate over that and giving them the whole amount. So they got paid in full and told thanks. I won't see them back to install the fixtures. If you plan on billing the client for the full amount then take that verbiage out of your contract. Very misleading!! read more

Very responsive and quick company. Easy to schedule with and nice! However, I REALLY wish they had told us how high the service fee was ahead of time as not sure I would have committed. Leak in our shower, ended up just being bad caulking. $150 service fee for 15 minute visit. Would even be happy paying the $150 or even more if that included fixing the caulk issue. Other companies are up front on their website about service fees (most others $99), so was surprised by this total fee. Not on website and not told at booking. Pretty disappointed. read more

I called Drain Terrier and set up a service call due to our hot water heater not working. I immediately got a text confirming the time window we agreed upon and that Gary would be the person coming to our home. I received another text when Gary was on his was way. Gary arrived during the window. Looked over our units, found they were in working order, explained why they probably stopped working and discussed our next steps. Gary explained since we are in the middle of a basement remodel that the dust caused our unit to shut down. I was impressed with Gary's honesty. I know some businesses might have said they needed to clean it and charged us for it. Gary said since it is working now that his recommendation is to wait till our construction is over.
