I had the unfortunate experience of my sewer line failing last week. I called Roto Rooter to come clean my line. They ended up going through my toilet (removal, etc...) to do this and said he got roughly 75 feet out and could not unclog it. Thus meaning the clog was under the street. He also stated it could be in the ballpark of $12,000 to $15,000 to fix. They then sent another guy (Roto Rooter) to put the camera in the line and he could only get to about 40 feet meaning the clog was in my yard. His quote came in at $12,000. He also said where the yard would get dug up, that we would have to re-seed the grass as it would only be dirt. Since they were so far off, I called Jake the Snake. He came out and confirmed that it was indeed clogged about 40 feet out and could not get past it. This was about 7pm. He also recommended Apex Plumbing and said he would notify them about this so they would expect my call in the morning. An hour later, I got a call from Jerry at Apex and said he could be there in the morning to give an estimate. He came out and gave 3 different quotes. 1) Spot repair where it is broke = $2,850 - 2) replace the line from house to sidewalk = $4,850 and 3) replace entire line to the city tap = $8,950. In all, they were $2,000 - $3,000 cheaper. I expressed concern to Jerry about the Yelp reviews. He said he understood, but they also do roughly 1,300 jobs a year to put it in perspective. He said they would take extra caution since I mentioned it. The next day, their crew (Crew Victor) came to start the job. They showed up early and explained what they were going to do since we opted to replace the line from the house to the sidewalk with cleanouts and then see what it looked like under the street before going any further. Their crew is employed by Apex in which Roto Rooter sub-contracts out their crews. They carefully removed the top layer of sod and set it to the left side of the yard and then dug out the rest and put it on the right side of the yard. When they got to the sidewalk, Jerry came back out to see how it looked under the street. It looked pretty good to him. We asked what he would do if it were his home. He stated it looked good enough to not warrant extra work which saved us $4,000 in additonal work that they could have gotten. I thank him for his honesty. The crew replaced the line from the house to the sidewalk, backfilled it in and compacted it as needed. At the end, they replaced the sod the best that they could so the yard wouldn't look so bad. I almost can't even tell that they did anyting in my yard. I can honestly say that it was a great decision to choose Apex Plumbing. They were honest, prompt and did better work than I believe others would have. I will recommend Apex to anyone who needs a new sewer line put in. Give them a chance, ask a lot of questions and you won't go wrong with Apex. Final price for 28 foot replacement, $4,850 from Apex. We hired Apex to replace the last outdoor segment of clay sewer pipe within our property, after pulling out our deck, and prior to pouring a stamped concrete patio over the old pipe's route. We knew up front that we our budget didn't include replacing the last 10 feet of clay under the addition to our house, nor the last 8 feet of clay between the property line and the main, but we wanted to get as much done as we practically could. This was our experience with Apex: 1) Their bid was lowest of 4 contractors, by about $400. Another contractor that's well known in Denver quoted nearly 3 times the amount of the Apex bid, and the justification given was a lifetime warranty. All other things being equal, that difference represents a 200% premium for an insurance policy. 2) Their bid was timely - we received an estimate based on an on-site visit within 3 days. 3) They arrived on time, were polite, worked hard, and completed the excavation and replacement within the day. 4) They ran into challenges along the way, including a couple inches of cement cap we didn't know about, a concrete grease trap with a non-functional clay pipe feeding it, an abandoned water line placed two inches above the actual sewer line, soil that was difficult to shore up during the replacement work, and difficulty extracting the old clay pipe from the outside cleanup, which ultimately required replacing half of the cleanout. We were charged for NONE of this. 5) Our back fence to the alley is falling apart - they took good care to secure it back to the posts. 6) We have problems with weed trees (Chinese Elm?) that keep growing back at the property line. I asked the crew lead if he could drag the excavator over the stumps as he drove it off the lot. After all of the challenges they encountered, I really didn't think they'd have time to do this - especially since it wasn't related to the job and it wasn't quoted. Nevertheless, I returned to find a large mass of weed tree stumps neatly piled outside my garage. 7) The crew turned down a gratuity that I would've been happy to have given them, especially given that I would've paid someone for (6). read more

A scope of our sewer line found a crack. The company that did the scope recommended Apex. I had heard horror stories about sewer line repairs and resultant damage to landscaping, etc. On the Apex proposal, it stated that if sprinkler lines were damaged they'd fix them and ensured that the dirt would be compacted, and landscaping would be placed back as close to prior condition as possible. I was glad that they included all of these items in their proposal - in writing! When the crew arrived, I pointed out that we had just paid $400 to have a slab of our concrete sidewalk mud jacked. Because of the proximity to where they'd be digging, I asked that the greatest of care be taken not to damage the slab. The crew did an absolutely fantastic job. They placed plywood over the yard. With the backhoe parked on top of the wood, they started to dig. The backhoe operator had an exacting touch, moving the huge backhoe scoop with delicate precision. He peeled the sod off and with it placed aside digging commenced. Soon I had a 10 -12 foot deep hole in my front yard no wider than the backhoe and about five feet long with one edge of it right next to the concrete slab. The crew placed trench support in the hole to protect the worker in the bottom. In a little while, the cracked pipe was removed and replaced with new pipe. A small section of sprinkler line was repaired and dirt was compacted back into the hole. Finally, the sod was placed over the top of the hole. The grass was a little flat when all the wood was removed, but I expected that. We are extremely pleased with the work done by Apex Plumbing. I would definitely recommend them! read more

We had a broken Sewer Line that needed repair, after attempting to deal with one of those "Heard it on the Radio" placesand finding them to be less than professional, lacking follow up and giving us a very high estimate for the work. I decided to look around Apex Plumbing was the first place we called and boy am I glad we did... Not only were they a $1000. less on the bid, but it was a great experience all the way around. From my first contact with the ladies in the office Bridgett and Marilyn, I found them to be extremely helpful and followed through with us even before we had agreed to have them submit a bid. They made sure are calls were returned in a prompt and timely manner, The next contact was with their estimator, he was professional, and on time to do the estimate. After deciding to have APEX do the work, the next person we had contact with was their Pipe Locator again he was on time and professional and very helpful and lastly the work crew showed up on time and completed all the work to our satisfaction. In August 2018 the City of Denver inspection team found a broken sewer connection where our sewer line joins the city sewer line in the alley and notified us that repair was required at our expense. I contacted three companies, including Apex. Apex and another company had the same reasonable bid. I selected Apex because a friend had them do a couple of sewer line projects in the Park Hill neighborhood of Denver to his complete satisfaction. Apex sent a man with the sewer scope and through that research he found and additional broken pipe in this old sewer line. The entire process was seamless with Apex, every aspect was online, and they were extremely responsive on the phone. The crew arrived on the appointed day, cut the alley asphalt, concrete and exposed the sewer line, 11ft underground. The completed both repairs from the same access hole. Their skill and care to avoid the gas line and danger to the guys in the hole was athletic, artistic and impressive. Apex auled away the dirt, re-filled the hole with flowfill to avoid settling as required. The entire job except for the last asphalt covering was completed in one day, including a 3 hour wait for the Denver inspector. My experience with Apex exceeded my expectations. Great company. Great service. I recently had a sewer line replaced by Apex plumbing in Denver. I got the runaround from a couple other local companies (High bids, lack of follow up, unprofessionalism). Then Jerry comes along and has an appropriate bid, follows up very well,and was very professional. When the day of my full sewer line replacement came, the workers were on time, courteous, and worked very hard and very quickly. The office staff followed up with me regularly. Apex handled all of the permitting process, and kept me in the loop on everything that was going on. They were in and out in two days. They warned me that the area of the yard near the new cleanouts might sink a little bit. And they were right. I called to let them know and they sent someone out the following day to build the yard back up. It looks great! It was a very good experience from beginning to end. DO NOT HIRE APEX PLUMBING. We had a sewer backup that caused flooding in the basement in May 2020. Apex came out and rodded the sewer line for $495, and that seemed to fix it. 2 months later we had the same problem. They came out, rodded the sewer line again (another $495) and ran a camera (additional $295) which revealed a thick tree root intrusion in the pipes. So after rodding the sewer line 2x they still didn't fix the problem completely. Then they tried to up sell me by saying we needed hydro jet rodding (additional $1200). I kept asking them why the backup and flooding occurred again after only 2 months and why they couldn't fix it completely. They had no answer. So I called another plumber -- Windy City Rooter -- and they were able to cleanout out the tree roots by rodding the sewer line. This process should have eliminated the tree roots the first time, but Apex has no idea what they are doing. All they know how to do is take your money w/o fixing the problem. Water started pouring out of a pipe in our basement wall yesterday -- think your bathtub at fully open. We got the water turned off at the meter and then called Apex. Pawel drove an hour to reach us and quickly realized that the problem was not our main water supply but a break in the pipe to our sprinkler system. He simply closed the valve to the sprinklers, and we were able to turn the water to the rest of the house back on. (He tested this.) Apex doesn't service sprinkler systems, but he recommended someone who could help us. Then, to my utter amazement, he charged us NOTHING! even though he'd driven an hour and spent twenty minutes or so getting us squared away. If I ever do need help with my main water line, you better believe, I will call Apex first! read more

UPDATE: Apex Plumbing was contracted by the City of Denver for the Lead Reduction Program. The contractors came to my house on 8/18 to replace our main water line. When they left, we immediately noticed issues with our water heater and later that night, it died. We let them know about the issue and they have gone above and beyond to resolve it. Fransisco called me personally and assured me that it would be taken care of. As of 8/23, they have replaced our water heater with a brand new one. Accidents happen on massive city projects like these. I highly respect Apex Plumbing for doing the right thing to make it better. As far as the quality of the installation goes - they're pros. The soil where I live is sandy and was prone to cave in. All of the multiple teams that worked on the job were professional, on time and took a lot of care in what they did. When our sewer line was broken by a fiber optic cable company Jerry Middleton, Territory Manager, responded almost immediately, visited our location and promptly gave us a comprehensive estimate of the work to be done. Replaced my sewer line in Denver. The new line looked well installed -- connected with collars to the pre-exisintg lines and running at the proper incline. They back filled with gravel and the fill soil was compacted on top. They installed cleanouts at grade. They were done in a day and cleaned up the mess as well as could be expected. I was initially skeptical of their esitmate, which was considerably lower than three of the four other quotes I received. OK, these guys are rock stars. We had an active leak from our water main into our basement. Apex escalated our case to their crew and they were onsite within a day. Their estimates came in way under Applewood and another Plumber's estimate. They did great work replacing my water line from the street to the house, tied everything in, cleaned up afterwards and my yard looks almost exactly the same even though they had to dig two trenches because our soil was so clay-like! The work was completed above expectations! They showed up and got 45'of of trenchles sewerline replaced in one day, like promised. They also had to repair what the previous plumber had started (it wasn't needed), and then abandoned the job after he got his money. They had to pull out a sewage pump, replace all the dirt and then repair the cement that was destroyed. So not only did they fix all that, but then they hauled away the pile of sand that was ordered by the previous plumber, it couldn't be used because the wrong kind was ordered.
