This is a great place to buy meat. It is small but sells a large variety of products for its size and well stocked. The staff were very helpful, knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. The meat department is halal and sells fresh quality selections. Thank you to the butchers who were kind and patient with me and gave premium cuts. Coming from Ca where Apna bazaar is open 24/7 and chai is always available along with other Indian street food, I was excited to check out the Apna bazaar in Texas and was surprised to see it looking completely different than what I'm used to. This looked like a mom and pop shop rather than a large grocery store. I found out it isn't ran by Panjabi or Hindu folks which means many of the food items are different or not available and many things that one might need for puja not available either. Roaches in the curry!!! The worst food ever!!!! This is the first time i am going to this place. I ordered a navratna kuruma to go, but never knew that it would be a non veg kurma with a roach inside. I took the food back to the restaurent and they just wont refund the money.. seriously??? I go in here to get halal meats once a week. I like their meats because they're clean, reasonably priced and high quality. The butchers will cut your meats according to your request as well. I also like their pita bread, it's cheaper than Kroger. The staff is nice and friendly and it's never too crowded. Today I placed a take-out order. I was told to wait 15-20 minutes by the staff. When the food was ready, I received the package and returned home. When I went home, I noticed I had only received three of the four meals I had ordered. Also, the food had gone bad. My family and I were unable to eat the food, so we threw it away. First time trying this place-Pakistani grocery store and restaurant. Chicken biriyani-$6.99 per box. Serving was really good and there was more than enough meat in the box. Delicious, aromatic, and not greasy. Came with raita, lime slices, and onions. Chicken 65-$8.99 and came with naan. Not typical restaurant style chicken 65 in that coated in batter and deep fried chicken pieces. Instead, chicken is roasted in masala. Not bad but not what I had in mind. I went to the window to order some meat because I've never been here and didn't know how. The guy told me where the goat was and I was kind of confused still. So the cashier came to help me! After that the guy came outside to make sure I got the good kind because I started asking about one that was on sale but he said it wasn't good and to stick with what we got. We made goat curry at home and it was too good! I felt that the other products here were cheaper too compared to other places. omg! Worst food we have ever eaten. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Marsala which I have had a hundred times before. I ordered the Lamb Curry for my husband. The Tikka was so hot you couldn't even enjoy it and the Lamb curry wasnt lamb. I dont know what it is, but it was not lamb. The man didnt speak english very well and only gave me one container of rice and one naan for 2 full meals. I had to pay extra for another rice and naan... Not that I mind paying. In a nutshell: This review is painful because I really wanted to love this place because it's close to my house. If I was simply rating just the restaurant this review would be a 2. First of all the store is very small but has quite a selectionfor its size. The family is very friendly and was super helpful. I got naan, kabob meat and tea on my first visit. The owner told me they had been there 16 years I believe. So lots of people obviously like it. The store is a three mainly due to size and produce selection but a 4 in variety and friendly workers. Now the restaurant. Many reviews talked about the physical dining area as being less than steller but the food good. I'm not scared of a hole in the wall and its mishap of a decor so we ate in. (Big mistake) The longer we were there, the more I can see why people said that. First of all the condiments, every one was sticky. There were flies everywhere. When the food arrived we were underwhelmed. We got the chicken tikka masala and there was a lot of dark orange Grease on the top. We got the butter chicken which had the same dark orange grease on the top. Not the standard amount of grease you may find in these dishes but an excessive amount grease. My husband ordered the Grill platter, I believe it was called. It had several types of meat on it. The actual flavors themselves were underwhelming the tikka masala did not seem authentic to us. The butter chicken although good have the sauce that was separated or curdled looking. The meals come with rice or the meals come with rice or naan, I'm used to getting both so that was a bummer. Unfortunately we won't be back to the restaurant but we will utilize the store. read more

The first time I went there folks were busy and I was not bothered by that no one was able to help me within five minutes. Always understandable and I did not mind. This time, no one was in the store and when I was ignored at the registered for more than five mins I knew they did not want me there. She even walked away from me after she turned my back on me when I did not leave.The girl at the register gave me dirty looks while packing my groceries and then again when I thanked her politely. I am a very quiet girl and do not like to make a fuss over things. So I just paid in left and decided to not return and leave a review. This was the WORST service I have ever gotten from a business and the only time I have ever felt discriminated against by a business. This was the first time I went here. I'm not knowledgable about Indian groceries and prices but visited with my mom. This store was very clean (unusual for many Indian grocery stores) and well organized. Their prices were very reasonable (according to my mom who is the expert shopper). In addition the cashier knew exactly where to guide us for everything we needed. After we left my mom again mentioned how she liked this store and had not one complaint (which I have never to this day experienced with my Mom!) I will definitely be visiting this store again and giving them my business. This Indian store is moving into modern times and I expect this will attract younger patrons. Usually this establishment is welcoming enough, but today my husband had a totally different experience. The reception felt cold, bordering on racist. If you don't like multicultural environments go back to India or Pakistan. But to leave any further insults out, my husband and 3 year old daughter were looked at by a worker or two as tho they didn't belong and even came to look upon my 3 year old daughter as if she was a theif about to steal from the grocery store side. Our to-go food was placed on a table near the door as if to say "hurry and leave." I mean I've felt a particular coldness at times before and then I've felt a bit of warmth. But who wants to spend money in a place that runs hot and cold like that? You don't know what you're gonna get. And then the food was very very spicy, way more spicy than it normally is and our kids are having a hard time with it. I felt like that was a personal jab. All in all, we won't be back. I sort of feel this establishment is run by racist Indians. If you're so-called black I'd stay away. At this point I'm not even willing to compliment the food. They have a small dining area inside the grocery store. Their mixed grill and fried fish are very good dishes.

It's got great food, that's all I need. There's a lot of non-English words on the menu, so it might be helpful to be able to look things up on the internet when choosing what to order. Seems authentic to me, at least. Just saying it's not the nicest place to hang out though. read more

I will NEVER buy any items from them again. I bought couple of boxes of frozen chicken patties and after i cooked one of the patty, it just simply tasted bitter and rotten. I complained about it to the store owner about it but he simple said the label on box says that it will expire next year and they looked good to him.
