Excellent service. After furnace stopped working in early Jan, I called 10 different SF and surrounding vendors before Apollo and only they and 2 others actually called back. All 3 were booked out for over 7 days. The other two had to reschedule, but Apollo came when they said they would, gave me a repair estimate which included parts, and an appointment date to return after parts arrived. The other two told me no parts available for my 12 year old unit, and it was dangerous anyway and best be replaced. I called Appollo back, expressed concern about the danger aspect and the owner chuckled. He said they tested for CO2 leak and worn heating element and non issue found and added that if it were dangerous he would have shared; He assured me it wasn't, and his word was they main thing that keep him in business for 35plus years. Old School. Seem believable to me & so far so good. He added he'd come back in 3 months to retest and would recommend a furnace when needed, but it wasn't necessary yet. Furnace quit working. Called a few places who couldn't help due to scheduling and brand of furnace. One recommended Apollo because of the brand. Apollo said they couldn't schedule until 30 days but to check if they got a cancellation. They called back the same day that there was a cancellation for the next day. I scheduled them for that time. They showed up early, immediately diagnosed the problem, and replaced the part right away. Price was reasonable, time to complete very quick. We have heat again after the coldest night of 2021! Manny answered my call and explained that all good HVAC contractors are very busy during this time. His earliest appointment (which I accepted) was in 5 days. He took the time to discuss my furnace problem and apologized for not being able to look at my problem sooner. On the day of the appointment, John arrived at the start of the two hour appointment window. John is very experienced and easy to talk to. He quickly diagnosed the problem as a broken drive belt. He replaced the belt, cleaned the furnace, and replaced the filter. The price was very reasonable. There was no up-selling or replacing of unnecessary parts. I am impressed with Apollo Heating. They're the Best. Known Sr. & his grew for 25+ years, ever since he was still w/PG&E. Let me say this. They do get "VERY BUSY" especially in the winter. There's a good reason why. So you do have to show some patience. They only do heaters & are masters to that craft. They DON'T do water heaters, AC, refrigerators, washer & dryers, coffee makers, toilets, etc.. You get my point. Heaters are in their blood. I've got some clunkers & they were the only ones able to work on them. I used them for all my homeowner clients. Have an apartment heater that needs minor servicing, as specified by PG&E. Sealing the edges of the unit and installing a filter. Despite the details woman who answered the phone said all work would be hourly. When I explained I was just hoping to narrow down a ballpark estimate for the building owner so i could get approval. Would it be 1, 2, 3 for a job like this? She became very abrupt. Told her I would forward info to the owner and call back. Today a man answered and said they only service single family homes. He also was abrupt. And claimed to not know why someone was willing to send someone out last week. Asked him who in our neighborhood would service an apartment size furnace. He said "We don't have a referral service". I would add they aren't very "service-oriented" either. read more

Just called to have my wall heater serviced (pilot light is out and heater hasn't worked in years) and Manny advised me to call PGE first because they are responsible for this as my gas provider. Furnace won't fire up. It's 40 outside and the furnace is out. DRATS! Freezing my furn*ACE* off I called up Apollo late one night and left a vm, and they promptly returned my call the next morn. at 8:10am! The first guy I talked to said that with the cold snap - they were slammed - and that he wouldn't be able to come out for a couple of days. I kindly said thanks, but I'll call around since I wanted to get it fixed straight away. He nicely warned me of the other types of scams and schemes that other repair companies try to lay on desperate people with broken furnaces. (fee just to come out to assess the problem) Yup. He was right. So I called back and set up an appointment later that night - figuring it was better to wait a few days and go with someone reliable than rush into something I might later regret. Fast forward to Saturday -- John showed up promptly within the window of time we agreed upon. He was pleasant, got straight to work, explained the issue (a malfunctioning valve), switched out the part and fired up the bad boy. He also replaced the filter - which was O. L. D. If I had to describe Apollo Heating in one word, it would be "Honest". After PG&E red tagged my furnace because it was emitting high CO levels, I called several HVAC technicians to diagnose the problem. Two were completely clueless and suggested I need to reconfigure my ventilation laterally as opposed to through my roof. One other insisted I needed a new furnace. Thank goodness I called Apollo and spoke to Manny. They came out, looked at the furnace, cleaned out a plugged baffle and VOILA, the carbon monoxide test came out negative!! A new furnace installation would have cost upwards close to $5k. Apollo fixed the problem for less than $150. I hope I never have heating problems again, but if I do, I know I have their number saved on my smart phone!! read more

I have a 110 year old house. The furnace is at least 50 years old and has been the source of much angst and worry. a could of weeks ago it stopped working on a friday of a 3 day weekend that happened to also coincide with the coldest weekend of the year so far. I spent 8 hours trying to get it working to no avail. Needless to say, we all froze. Come 7-am tuesday morning I couldn't take another second of the frigid temperature so I started calling heating repair places. One after another I got the same answer, "Oh" usually said with despondency, "You have an old furnace, you say? I could be there in a day or two, maybe." It was frustrating and troublesome. Then I called Apollo. A friendly voice answered and as I explained the situation, the parts I replaced, the techniques I used the voice on the other end of the phone interjected, "Is your furnace pale blue and yellow?" "yes", I replied. "and does it look like this and that, sound like this, have this embellishment, etc etc" Startled and amazed I answer affirmatively. Then he asked how long I had been without heat and when I told him he said, "OH!! We will come over this afternoon!" They arrived a wee bit late but got right to it, replaced a part, found another small problem they said they could fix easily which would make the unit more efficient. Found another inexpensive part that needed replacing and then lit it up. Super friendly and courteous. Not too expensive. Very knowledgeable. I now have a warm home and happy family. Used this company for the past few years on multiple heater repairs and the last one they came 45 minutes late and literally just turned on the pilot light in less than 10 minutes. The bill came and it was $130. I called for clarification and apparently that's the minimum charge. I was disappointed that as a loyal customer they were not willing to work with me on that price because considering - I think that price is a bit high. So sadly, they lost a customer when it could have been remedied with just a little compromise. I would recommend Apollo if you're ok with $130/hr. read more

If I could give 10 stars for honesty I would. Brrrr, it was cold this week, and of course my heater decided to go out on me. Well EVERYONE in SF must have been experiencing the same thing. I called on Monday and Manny said "honestly, I can' get there before Friday. I am sure you will want to check around." Well Apollo had come highly rated from 2 friends, so I thought why not wait. Glad I did. When he first arrived he thought it was the mother board. The first thing I thought was $$$. He quoted me a price, and as I stood there shivering and wetting myself, I said go for it. Long story short (no pun intended), he discovered it was a short in the wiring and not the mother board. I only had to pay for the service charge of $150.00. We called Apollo when my parent's thermostat popped out of the wall, after which we couldn't get the heat to shut off. They came out within 48 hours and quickly diagnosed the problem. Even though he was certain the problem was in the thermostat, the tech still popped down to the furnace and took a look. When he saw our filter was filthy, he replaced it and patiently explained to my mother how important it was to keep those filters clean. He began working to repair the old thermostat, at which point I asked him about the possibility of switching to digital. He said it wouldn't run us much more, so we went with the upgrade. Because he had just run out of the stash he keeps in his truck, he sent us out to pick one up and arranged to meet us back later in the day to install it. Then 30 min after he reappeared we had a new thermostat. He charged $100 for the visit, which is way less than we had imaged it would be. In general we were happy with the service, price, speed, and overall ease of Apollo. I'd recommend them to anyone without reservation. read more
