    The history behind Apollo's!

Loved this spot! The garlic knots were buttery and soft, the cheese pizza had that perfect New York-style flavor, and the mozzarella sticks were gooey and crispy. Food came out fast, and the service was amazing--the waitress was super attentive. Cozy vibe and great overall experience!

We ordered through DoorDash, and it was still hot and delicious! We got the meat lovers, which fed myself and three young kids. I highly recommend!

They told us thats their combination pizza...really

I am very disappointed, that last time I ordered the combination pizza I received exactly the combination pizza as is on the picture on their website and today my wife go to order it again and what she receive is not the combination pizza and the worst part about it is that, my wife showed them the picture from yelp the shows the combination pizza and from their own website and she told me, they all look at each other confuse like they have no idea what a combination pizza on their website looks like versus what they made just look at the picture below thats not the combination pizza, and of course is a waste of time to dispute this charge because is food and services were rendered, but the fact that you have employees and they don't know the menu, make it bad business, last time the owner delivered exactly what is on their menu and I got the combination pizza but today I got something else...

Garlic knots. Wasn't expecting Romano cheese on there, which I liked, but my fiancée did not.

"Meh. I've experienced better." That's essentially the way I felt after my visit to Apollo's tonight. Don't get me wrong, I've had worse pizza in my life. Just... not in the last few months of my life. --Food: We had a small order of 6 garlic knots and a large half cheese, half pepperoni pizza. - Garlic knots: We didn't see it listed, but they come with romano cheese sprinkled all over them. The problem with this is that the cheese absorbs the buttery garlic liquid (which is normally the sinfully good part of garlic knots), and we were left with slightly dry and less flavored garlic knots. My fiancee doesn't even like romano cheese and brushed it all off. - Pizza: I've said it in prior reviews, but good pizza (to me) falls in one of two categories. 1) Thin crust pizza with a crispy crust. 2) Deep dish with a buttery crust. The pizza at Apollo's is a thin crust, but only the very end resembles anything near crispy. The first slice out of the oven had a firm-at-best crust, but the second slice after having sat a few minutes was really quite soft. If you happen to like thin, soft crust, I think you will strongly disagree with the 2 star rating of this review. I won't cut credit where credit is due; there is a perfect amount of cheese and the pepperoni had a nice spice to it (albeit a bit greasy). It wasn't a bad tasting pizza, but it's hard for me to acknowledge the taste with the texture of the crust. There are a lot of other items on the menu as well, and it's possible that I'll try some other ones at a future date. I particularly like Steak and Cheese, so that's something I could see happening. --Cost: Above food came to ~$15. I'd say about average for a pizza and a bread side. --Atmosphere: Nothing too out of the ordinary for a pizza place. There were two TVs playing America's Got Talent with about 8 people dining in. Place was pretty clean. --Service: We ordered and had our pizza in about 15 minutes. Garlic knots came sooner. They do give generously sized Styrofoam cups for water. Staff was nice enough. --Overall: As it's right down the street from where I reside, I wanted to like Apollo's more. It has the right foundations for a good pizza in my opinion, but I just couldn't get over the crust. If a soft, thin crust doesn't bother you or is preferred, by all means, give them a shot. I personally think I'll be sticking to Capriccio's which isn't too much further down the street, but I don't regret coming here.

I have a full-on love affair with Zorch Pizza. I crave it. I think about it when I shouldn't. And…read morewhile they've got more than one location, this review is strictly for Carytown because that's my spot. The vibes are always right. It feels like community the second you walk in. Hector is the coolest, hands down--great energy, great personality, the kind of person who makes you want to come back. Oh and did I mention you can get pizza by the slice! The variety is mind blowing and they always have vegan options!!!!! I'm a thin-slice person. I need the right ratio of crust to sauce to toppings, and Zorch nails it every time. Plus, no flop! The cheese slice is a classic and was my favorite... until I discovered The Upside Down. Listen, when I bite into that slice, I literally close my eyes. I see a lot of people say it's greasy. For this one, grease me down baby. The flavor does everything it needs to do. Layered, bold, and honestly addictive. After that slice, I don't even want a regular one anymore. Next up on my list: The Grandma. And for context, I've had Angelo's in Philly. Respectfully? It doesn't compare. Sorry to all the other grandmothers out there lol. One note though-it's heavy on the garlic, so if that's not your thing, you might want to pivot. If it is your thing? Strap in. It's been a few years since I've been able to say I found a legit pizza spot in RVA. A spot that I bring others to often! I'm happy to say I've found my pizza home. Much love to the Zorch crew. See y'all soon!

Upon entering we were greeted and the host walked us down to the lower level. We had six tables reserved. The bartender came over immediately and took our drink orders and small plate orders. We didn't want any hookah but it was offered. We later ordered a pizza as well later on. Our food was better than expected. The prawns were flavorful, the meatballs weren't warm enough but had some spice to it and were larger than expected. The Caesar salad had kale and red onion in it which was different. We enjoyed the food and the vibe on the lower level was better. The pizza could use more sauce and the cheese had a nice pull to it. The meat on the pizza didn't taste frozen at all. We had to ask for refills a few times, but the server did a good job considering she had at least 20 people to serve.Overall, better this time around.

The New Yorker was a cheese pizza while The Wire was a Crab Pizza with pesto sauce. I didn't get a picture but the cheese pull was insane on both! The drinks were good as well. I had the "Pornstar Martini" while my cousin had the "Velvet Notes" I love how the restaurant has 3 different parts. The right side was for the conservatives, the left was for the not so conservatives and the basement was where the party and hookah was at. The only downside of this place, was the service. It was sooo slow! Although, our bartender "Devin" made some amazing drinks!
