I went into Appalacian Grill to place a to go order for my family. The hostess was not at the host stand, but she came back in about a minute. I asked her if I could place a to go order with her, or if she preferred me to go to the bar. She looked a list on the stand for a minute and then said "hold on, I'll go see." When she came back she said "We don't do to-go orders anymore." When I asked why, and told her their website said "Dine in or Out" she said "because people don't pick them ip and we lose money." I was standing right there and had planned to pay when I ordered and wait at the bar for my order. She just said "no. you cant do that." When I got home, I tried to call and speak to a manager before I posted a review, but the phone rolls to a voicemail that is full. Im just not sure why they cannot accomodate a walk in to go order, especially when the restaurant wasn't busy. I really liked this place on all my other visits, and have had "to go" from them before, but I don't always want to dine in..... There are plenty of other wonderful places in Cartersville to find a great "carry out" meal. read more

This place is always packed and for good reason, a 5 star restaurant in a quiet little North Georgia town that everyone literally comes from everywhere to try! This place has attentive staff always offering refills, clearing plates and bringing out new food. The wine list boasts a bit of everything from pear and apple wines to your every day Reds and Riesling's. Best. Trout. Ever. I literally have fantasies about the trout here and the portion is so big it takes over 80% of the plate. I am also a fan of the Appalachian plate that comes with a skewer full of plump scallops, kielbasa, fried spinach pieces with thick cuts of red potatoes and a spicy mustard. Every house salad comes with cranberries, bacon, walnuts, egg and their hot bacon honey mustard dressing could be served in a wine glass! Each salad plate comes with their homemade cornbread, cranberry muffins shaped like fish. Need I go on?! I also absolutely adore a server named VINCE! We have memorized his schedule because although we've had other servers, nothing compares to the attention he gives. We are on a first name basis! I only wish he would stop changing his days off! This place is amazing. I worked here for about a year before leaving and it was 100% clean and fresh. The menu never changes, which is good because your favorites will always be there. went to Appalachian Grill in Cartersville tonight and our steaks were cooked incorrectly. Upon notifying our waitress the steaks were taken back to the kitchen. The owner came out to our table, immediately showed an aggressive, disrespectful attitude, when my husband stated that he expected new steaks because the previous ones were burnt on the outside and raw in the middle and couldn't be saved, owner then cursed at us (with a family with young children at the next table) and stepped up to provoke us to fight him. We left and he followed us out to the sidewalk yelling and continued to curse at us. People on the street couldn't believe how he was behaving. He was so extremely unprofessional, rude and on the verge of having us to call the police on him. Needless to say we DON'T recommend Appalachian Grill. read more

Love this place! Our favorite upscale restaurant for date nights. Steaks are incredible, as well as their seafood.

A group of us were in town from Dallas for a work training and had no idea where to eat. We went to Appalachian Grill because the receptionist at the hotel recommended it and we were not disappointed. I ordered the monte cristo and a dinner salad. Both were very delicious. We also got some yummy rolls before dinner. Our waitress' name was Joy which was very fitting because she was full of joy! Great meal, great service!!! I only wish I lived closer! read more

We are long time customers who have enjoyed many meals here. However, we celebrated my husband's birthday with friends recently and although the food was delicious, we left hungry. After spending $60 for lunch (each couple), you shouldn't go away hungry. Typically we leave with leftovers. I understand serving too large portions is not in the best interest of the restaurant, but surely they could serve enough to fill you up. And yes, we are "normal" eaters. Love this gem of a restaurant in downtown Cartersville. It has the feeling of a log cabin. We ordered the salmon dip appetizer. It was a little spicy for me but still delicious. The dill dip was good. I ordered the trout and it did not disappoint. So light and pleasing. The salad before the entree was wonderful as well. Great food. Waiter and other staff wore masks and gloves. Waited 45 minutes with a party of 6. Food is excellent and well worth the wait. My parents in laws were impressed. Main entree are big, perfectly cooked and tasty. Bar was under construction, but the bar tender greeted my wife and mother . She provided a listing and crafted great summer cocktails. Folk music atmosphere and just loud enough to mask a family conservation. The other improvement should be the check-in. A party of 5 or more is tough for them to handle. What a awesome place to get a great meal. We stopped by during a trip to north Georgia and I am so glad we did. We loved the atmosphere and the staff was super. We started off with the smoked salmon dip and it was by far the best we have ever tasted. My wife had soup and salad and just went on about how good it was. We got here early because we heard how long the wait could be. If you're not in to waiting, then go eat at 5:30 like we did. The service was fantastic, and it was a great spot for date night. They have several seafood and steak offerings. I had the trout and my husband had a steak that was cooked to perfection. If you're looking for fine dining (seafood and steal especially) in the Cartersville area, this is the place to go. Great service, cozy atmosphere, and fantastic food. I had the bourbon glazed salmon with rice pilaf and braised collards. Everything was cooked perfect and tasted delicious. Most places over cook salmon but not here. It was juicy, delicious, moist, and perfect for the pallet. The collards were not soupy. They were pan braised in bacon fat. No vinegar or hot sauce needed, but they provide it on the side anyway. Service was prompt and professional. BTW, if you're wondering why it's hard to find on your GPS, it's under the bridge where your GPS will take you to. Just hook a left on the other side of the bridge, hook two more lefts, and then a right at the end of the strip mall to get to the road under the bridge. It's worth it! read more

It's my birthday today, and I have been wanting to try this place for a while now. Me and five members of my family went to the grill at 1730 to get a table. It is Saturday and when we were told 1 hour for the wait we said that's fine we will be out here chatting. When an hour went by we decided to check and make sure we weren't forgotten about, not bugging, just checking. When we asked how it was looking the girl told us it was going to be another hour or more. Now I come from a family that's owned a restaurant and when I was growing up I worked in restaurants, I could tell for a fact that we were being forgotten about. We went outside and decided that this place was not for us. All in all we waited 2 hours before we pulled the plug to go somewhere else. If you can't handle 6 people, say something initially so we can make plans elsewhere. It seemed like everyone was enjoying their food and the atmosphere, just do not go with more than 4 people on a busy night. I don't think I'll make another attempt after that. read more

First time to visit this restaurant as my friend came from Chattanooga and we were looking for a nice place to eat in Cartersville. Unfortunately the service was horrible but the food was good. I had the smoky mountain trout, and I asked the waitress what the vegetable of the day was and she told me it was roasted brussels sprouts, which sounded very good. My friend had soup and salad. They brought out my entrée when it was ready and unfortunately the brussels sprouts were colored greens, and they had nothing for my friend. The food runner looked at him and asked if he was eating and we jokingly said no he's not, and she was ready to leave but then we said no it was just a joke ordered the soup and salad. it was literally five minutes later before his soup and salad came, which meant I ate most of my entrée by myself and then he ate most of his by himself. Not once did we see our waitress to top off our drinks or ask how our meal was once we both had food. I hope she was having a bad day because if not, she needs to find another occupation. Poor service will not make up for great food as far as a dining experience, although great service would make up for mediocre food in a dining experience, but this time it was a mediocre experience overall. My mom had the Florentine shrimp, which was a great balance of buttery, salty freshness. We also got the fried pickles appetizer, which was tasty. The hot bacon vinaigrette with honey mustard on the salad was scrumptious - and the fish cornbread that goes with the salad is excellent.
