Huge disappointment for my daughter's 1st birthday. I ordered a catering spread for my daughter's 1st birthday--one and a half trays of oven-fried chicken and two trays of redskin potatoes. Unfortunately, the food was a massive letdown. The chicken was incredibly dry and tasteless; I ended up with a huge amount of leftovers because none of my guests wanted to eat it. To make matters worse, they cut the bone-in breasts in half to inflate the piece count. The customer service was even worse than the food. I spoke with the manager, Stephanie, who offered a gift card, but I have no interest in returning after this experience. When I asked to speak to the owner, I was ignored for a week. When I finally reached the owner's wife, Cathy, she cut me off mid-sentence to tell me "no one ever complains about their food" and promised a callback from her husband that never happened. If you like soup, this is the place to go. They usually have about 10 different soups every day. Don't hold me to this, but I believe they rotate them around every week, starting on Monday. Wait staff is friendly and helpful. It has old diner vibes (good thing) going on. They have a great selection of comfort foods. Hot turkey or roast sandwiches, a good Polish plate and great breakfast choices. They aren't big on seasoning food, so add your own. Saturday Brunch!!!!! Decided to come here as I have driven past this spot several times and my Bff gave it a try. There was plenty of parking available. In addition the place closes daily at 430pm. We came in at around 10am and we were seating immediately. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I went on the Yelp and they had no recent review so I felt this would provide the most accurate restaurant info. I decided to get the Pot Roast since it was a chilly day. The waitress stated it's her favorite. My bestie ordered the omelet, hash browns, pancakes , and French toast. Good!!!!! I must say I was very surprised by the price and the portion. The salad itself was meh- one cucumber and two tomatoes on lettuce, but the Italian dressing was very good. I got a lemon flavored pastry. It was pretty good too. Great family dining with many options! My boyfriend and I are HUGE fans of soups. One might say he's addicted to soup because he eats it THAT much. Good news! Apple Annie's offers 10 soups DAILY! They even have a monthly soup that rotates each month. It's fun to call their "soup hotline" to find the soups of the day too. Our favorite soup thus far has been the Chicken Pot Pie. Delicious, warm and so comforting on a chilly Michigan day. Another favorite on the menu is the Chicken salad sandwich. You even can get it on your choice of bread. Apple Annie's also offers daily specials and even senior discounts. Don't let the line deter you. Service here is top notch and tables get cleaned quickly. I was really impressed with the wait staff. This Roseville "Hot Spot" serves 10 daily soups. They have been voted " The Best " by Channel 4 News. They are the #1 reason whatever the season of the year, why customers are in here daily or weekly for their delicious flavored soups (see the photo of the tasty names). Or other home cooked entrees. Usually I am in here for breakfast or lunch with my Mom since its near her home. The parking lot can hold many cars along with handicap spots by the entrance doors. This place is always busy at breakfast or lunch yet we never have to wait to be seated, since the flow and timeframe of customers in here is moving steady. I myself like the fresh, homemade, comfort food feeling to go along with the atmosphere. The waitresses work very hard and give fast service and are attentive to the many table areas that they serve. (Ashley & Debby) We were seated in a cute mini booth for 2 by the wall and quickly 2 waters arrived with a happy, pleasant greeting from "Ashley". I knew from the start that we were going to have a great waitress after she chatted with us for a bit about the specials. Today was a late breakfast (10:30 a.m.) since My Mom had a blood test so we were pleased they serve breakfast till 11:30 a.m.. Their menus are very informative and can make it hard for a senior citizen to decide, therefore she was happy to read and make her hungry decision quick by using the one daily "Breakfast menu" with senior citizen prices. The portion sizes were shocking but fulfilling to me and leftovers to take home for my Mom. She like the option choice with her meal of either toast, hash browns, or pancakes. She chose the pancakes (see the huge photo). To add to her "senior 2 special" and yes she shared 1 pancake with with me. What a great choice: a bottle of warm or room temperature syrup to pour on your pancakes.! Thanks ASHLEY! My German omelette was cooked perfect with great flavor and fillings. Hash browns were cooked crispy the way I like them and my choice of cinnamon raisin toast was delicious also. Never tried a flavored iced tea here so I'm glad I did "Wild Strawberry" perfect flavor not sweet. Our experience was pleasant even though it was a bit noisy and busy in here, but the flow did move and the waitresses kept up with the pace when I was watching. There's so many "regular" customers in here that I over heard waitress Ashley and Debby greeting customers by their names and knowing what they would like to order if so they chose. That's a nice connection, and great memory to see with a happy returning customer. Up front at the check out register, is a bakery with daily made breads, pies, cookies, cupcakes, brownies and specials of the day for a low price. We didn't buy anything, but hope to shop and try a few items next time. I'm so glad for my Mom to suggest this restaurant when I visit with her that she feels the warm comfort feeling by the many soups and food that is offered. My grandma was very excited to show me one of her favorite places, Apple Annie's! This place is a diner and they've got tons of food options. Our waitress was so kind! She recommended I try the stuffed pepper soup and boy was she right! It was bursting with flavor and I could definitely imagine having this on a cold winter day, forsure! We had a Cobb salad, some omelette a and their pancakes, oh my god. They were so good!!!! They were fluffy and delicious! They came out piping hot with warm syrup! I loved them, and I don't like pancakes, lol! I noticed there were quite a few older people so this must be a hot spot with them, rightfully so. My friend suggested this restaurant for breakfast, and since I had been wanting to try this restaurant, I was happy to oblige. We went on a Saturday late morning, and the parking lot was jammed packed! Once we arrived in the restaurant, we waited about 10 minutes, which wasn't long. We were seated, and it waitress, came right over to take our order. We received our food quick, and that was a pleasant surprise. I ordered the American Omelette, and order of Blueberry Pancakes. Went to Apple Annie's for the first time a couple days ago for breakfast and they did not disappoint! I saw them recommended by many in a local Facebook group I follow and am grateful I chose to give them a try. The employees were very pleasant and the food was very fast to come out. I ordered the "Little Annie" breakfast special which came with 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, hashbrowns and either toast or pancakes (I chose pancakes) it was SO MUCH food and was delicious! The price was extremely reasonable for the amount of food you get. I will definitely be back for breakfast and look forward to trying their lunch/dinner in the future. We got lucky and were seated right away, but the popularity of the restaurant was clear as a steady stream of guests patiently waited for a table. The line was constant our entire meal. Our server was very friendly and helpful. My mother in law got the banana nut pancakes. They were chock full of walnuts and bananas. They were excellent. The heated syrup was a bonus. I loved the chicken pot pie. The crust was great. It was full of tender chicken, peas and carrots with a small bowl of chicken gravy. My wife had eggs and Michigan cherry walnut toast. I like Apple Annie's. Are they ever going to be a 5-star place to me? No. No, they are not, but that's not really the arena they're shooting to be in, either. They want to provide a good, solid, comforting meal at an affordable price point, and I believe that they deliver on that quite frequently. Start with their soups. Normally, they have 10 different soups on any given day, but currently during the COVID-19 crisis, they've pared that down to 6 per day. That's still a fair number of soup choices, and some of them are *darned* tasty. I had a Chicken & Dumplings soup today which hit me right where I live, and I ended up taking a quart of it home with me, because yeah: it's a treat to find soup that satisfies like this. They have a lot of different sandwiches on offer, and I usually get their Chicken Salad sandwich, which I also had today. Today's tasted a bit off, but they don't make it themselves, so it's possible that it's just that particular batch...the last time I had it, it was perfectly fine. Not terrific, mind you, but still enjoyable. Today was less so, but still: completely eaten. While I couldn't dine in today, I have in the past, and service has always been more than simply adequate...it's been good. They work *hard* to turn their tables, here, and they hustle for it. Tip your servers...they earn it, honest. No one's ever going to say that it's sexy. No one's ever going to mistake it for The Next Big Thing. Having said that, there's absolutely something to be said for a place that can consistently deliver on what they're promising, and these folks do. For the most part, Apple Annie's is usually solid. I tend to opt for breakfast options. Their omelettes are huge and in general portions are enough to share if you aren't that hungry. Everyone's usually pretty friendly. Tried a sandwich today. Came with my choice of soup, salad, fries, and coleslaw, you pick two sides. I got the patty melt. Stupidly chose cheddar cheese instead of traditional Swiss so my bad haha I got soup, chicken and dumplings which was mostly dumplings so that was a little disappointing. I also got fries as my side. Cute little metal basket but had a lot of end pieces, meh. Will definitely be back though for breakfast. read more

Let me start off by saying it didn't have that average hometown diner feel, it had more of a touristy diner vibe to it. Not sure I can pin the feel of this place down. Their menu is HUGE, which for me is a sign that they don't really specialize in anything and try their hand at everything. I prefer a small menu at hometown diners because you know they have honed in on making these dishes memorable. I ordered a chicken broccoli strudel with cheese and broccoli soup and my friend ordered the pot roast with mashed potatoes and a side salad. The soup was hot, creamy, and had the perfect amount of salt to cheese ratio. I was less than impressed with the presentation which looked a bit like heated dog food with withered broccoli (see photos). I'm sorry but its true. However, the flavor of the pot roast left me saying yumm and the mashed potatoes were a mix of chunky creaminess so together it makes for a pleasant and filling lunch. My strudel was less than impressive and after a few bites of my friends lunch I instantly regretted ordering the strudel. The broccoli strudel was DRY and and the chicken inside the strudel was dry and I couldn't help but wonder if the person who prepared this had a bad day that day. Believe it or not your attitude translates into your cooking. So why the 4 star rating after such a bland and dry strudel? CHEESECAKE! I ordered dessert because I was still hungry and why not? The cheesecake was creamy and decadent and every bite was delicious as the first and left me wishing I would have ordered another piece for later. The cheesecake coupled with the pot roast and chunky creamy mashed earned this place a solid 4 in my book. I can look past a bad dish when another dish shines. According to the waitress the strudel is their number one seller. So this dish should have rocked my taste buds. The service was just OK. This menu is the same as the menu at the Garfield location, so I knew what to expect. My father-in-law told me how great the pork chops were, so I got pork chops. I always dread getting pork chops at restaurants, so I asked the waitress to make sure they didn't overcook them, and she said she did tell them that. But, they were chewy and dry anyway, so I sent them back. The chicken pita I got to replace it, however, was good and showed up very quickly. My son got the chicken pot pie, which I know is also good. The fries on the side were crispy and tasty. And, the service was good. But, I didn't expect that they would refuse to do separate bills for a large party. We had a group of eight, and the waitress said she "couldn't" split the bill. So, we had to go through the annoying exercise of manually figuring out how much each of us got so my group of 4 and the other groups of 2 could maybe put their fair share in. I might stop by again to get a pie (they do make good pies), but never again if we have a large group. read more
