My husband likes the regular non-diet options and those were all marked as out. Some flavors I think may have also been out. The butter button on popcorn machine spit a few times and then didn't dispense butter. Those were the major cons ( we pay enough for concessions don't we?). The theater was clean. Our chairs functioned properly. The screen was nice, no rips, tears, glitches. Nobody was interrupting. We had a great movie-watching experience. We love Screen X. read more

We used to love this place but it's now like watching corporate greed in action. Management needs to get rid of the self checkout (!) food, there is a reason large grocery chains have rolled it back, it is confusing and inefficient. Going to the movies there used to fun and relaxing, the new popcorn buckets are thin and cheap which caused us to miss some of the movie cleaning up butter and popcorn that spilled everywhere. I felt so bad for the poor custodian staff and workers dealing with this mess (literally a mess!). Please get rid of the new buckets and system, it's not working! read more

There was a special offer on Fandango to watch the movie Lee Cronins The Mummy on the Screen X projection so we had to venture out to this theater. Apon arriving I will say the parking garage is soooo damn confusing so make sure your paying attention to where you park and which elevators you take. When we finally made it to the theater, we were surprised to see how empty it was for a Friday night at 6pm. Not complaining at all just to make note seems that's the perfect showtime. When you enter you are greeted by staff who proceed to explain to you the newest form of technology to order your snacks from the concession stand. It almost felt redundant to introduce a new way of purchasing items to not interact with a human and yet, the staff helped us throughout the whole way. There is a wall of all the snacks printed with a barcode which you take with you and then proceed to scan in order to pay. For our movie we opted for the chicken sandwich (that comes with fries) and of course a slushy drink. I did see that the popcorn was self serve so next time I will definitely indulge. There were soooo many flavors of slushies instead of the basic coke, blueberry raspberry and cherry! When we entered the theater for ScreenX it was one of the biggest theaters I've ever been too! I liked how they seemed to have the rows separated for minimal disturbances. I will say though the ScreenX is definitely gimmicky. Throughout the movie some scenes were not ScreenX adapted I presume because it did not take up all the screens. But it was VERY loud. Almost too loud that I found myself covering my ears at times because it was way too much. As for the food this was the best theater food I have ever had. The chicken was nice and crunchy and hot! And the chicken didn't have those weird fatty/mystery pieces theater chicken usually has. read more

I love going to the movies, but when it comes to theaters I usually only stick to two - Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville and Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers. While Apple Cinemas is technically my local theater, the perks and programming of the other two theaters justify me going out of the way to see a film there. There was one film that I really wanted to see, and unfortunately neither of my go-tos were showing it. I checked local showtimes and noticed Apple was playing it, so I decided to go astray and see my first film at Apple Cinemas. Apple is located on Level 3 of the White Plains City Center; I actually have been to this theater before but it was many years ago (pre-Yelping days) when it was Cinema de Lux. A few years ago, de Lux closed and we were temporarily without a movie theater in the city, but shortly after Apple announced they were stepping in which I thought was great; there are enough closed businesses in the city and this would have been a huge void. I did not purchase tickets in advance, though you are able to as well as choose your seats. This process is mimicked at the box office; as soon as I walked in, there are kiosks to choose your movie and seats, and beyond that two long rows of concessions. This process was seamless for me, and before I knew it I was seated for my film. Seats were comfortable and had a recline function plus a tray to hodl your snacks. I found the entire theater really spacious and clean; they definitely have the capacity to handle a large volume of customers. Note that I went early afternoon on a Saturday - it wasn't crowded so I'm not sure what the vibe or service is like during drive time. Regardless, I had a good first experience at Apple, and I wouldn't be against returning to see another film. read more

This was one of the most unacceptable movie going experiences I ever had. There was probably a handful of employees working on a busy Saturday night. Nobody even checked tickets, the popcorn was all self serve and stale, there was trash everywhere, soda machines didn't work, it was a dystopic free for all. How many employees did they fire so they could automate everything? The bathrooms were disgusting, slippery, sticky, unclean, with plungers on the floor. The worst part of all was for the overpriced imax ticket the screen was partially blocked by a solid divider. How do you design a movie theatre where your view is blocked? At least warn when you are buying a ticket that it has an obstructed view?? It was honestly a shocking experience, and I will never be back. Smh smh . read more

Came here yesterday for a movie with a friend and it was honestly one big mixed message of an operation. I've never experienced so many "self-service" style kiosks. The candy, the soda, the popcorn. It's all self-serve. It felt busy and empty at the same time. Again, a mixed message. But then also, they were out of all diet sodas. Massive letdown. The theater itself was super clean (at least clean-looking) and comfortable. The reclining seats were a surprise to me. Better theaters exists for sure, but Apple Cinemas could be worse. read more

Is there anyone working here....? There literally was noone collecting/scanning tickets-- we could have just walked in.... First - we bought our tickets online so had the barcode on my phone. We walked in to the theater and the only staff member was at the concession stand. We eventually overheard someone saying to go to the self-served kiosks- 9/10 were out of service- we found the 1 that worked- scanned our barcode and it printed a ticket. We walked right to out theater- noone checked anything..... No way this place is going to last with the literal dearth of employees.... read more

I never leave reviews but today I had one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a movie theater at Apple Cinemas. I went to see Devil Wears Prada 2 and the projector was completely out of focus. At first we assumed they must be working on it, but after 15 minutes the blurriness got progressively worse. A handful of other people in the theater, myself included, went to go complain. But lo and behold there wasn't anyone to complain to! They have virtually replaced every human here with touch screens. There was one teenager working the cash line for snacks, who we approached. And I understand it's not her job to fix this and she probably isn't getting paid enough to deal with a bunch of angry customers but she didn't even verbally acknowledge the group that came to complain. She called her manager, who let us know "they'd work on it." I went back to the theater, 15 more minutes pass and still no change. Mind you, the movie was so blurry that it was unwatchable. At that point we've spent about 40 mins in this theater if you include trailers and we decided to cut our losses and leave. On the way out I overheard another customer say that there was no one on site to fix the projector and that the staff were waiting for someone to come. This theater seriously has eliminated almost all of their employees. We just wanted to leave so we didn't hang around to try and get a refund, and I don't know if/when the problem was resolved. Overall, this is a perfect example as to why projectionists and having a competent AV staff is so important and why you need to hire humans. Tickets and snacks are all purchased through touch screen consuls. As a tech savvy 30 year old, I thought these interfaces were unintuitive and clunky to use. I can't imagine how difficult they would be for older folks. Also the area by the soda machine where you get lids and straws was covered in junk since there were no trash cans near that area, and the pleather on the recliners in the theater was seriously worn down. My partner and I purchased last-minute tickets to see Sinners. The theater was not crowded and appeared to be clean and well-maintained. The only downside was the parking situation -- the garage requires payment even on Sundays, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, it was a good experience. read more

I'm glad to see new owners have taken over the movie theater in the White Plains City Center, as it was a quite a shock when they announced that the previous cinema was closing. Apple Cinemas has more or less the same layout as the old theater. They have updated the decor, adding bright orange couches in the center. Everything feels a bit more digitized as well. Instead of a counter with ticket agents, there are several self-serve kiosks for buying tickets. Even if you buy online, you still have to scan your code to print out your tickets from these machines, which seems like a waste of paper. They check your tickets at the front and then you have full access to all theaters. The concession menus are displayed on dynamic digital screens. One thing I was unabashedly thrilled about is they have self-serve popcorn and butter! Lots of theaters have self-serve butter but here, you get to dispense both, so you can add layers of butter to the middle of a tub, instead of just drizzling it on top and ending up with dry popcorn at the bottom. Unhealthy? Yes. But thoroughly satisfying? Also yes. This also means that popcorn is unlimited. In terms of taste, the popcorn itself was not at all salty, which I appreciated, but the butter also lacked flavor so it wasn't the best I've had. The theater seats were comfortable. They were leather recliners with convenient swivel tables for holding food and drinks. When we walked into the theater, the screen was completely blank. No ads or previews ever showed. We waited 20 minutes and finally had to go ask a staff member to start the movie. That was super odd. Otherwise, great to have the movies back in White Plains! read more

It is a really nice theater. Everything is clean and they had all of the typical food and candy options that you would expect. They also offer the screen where you have images on the left and right which we enjoyed when we went to watch that superhero movie with the flexible guy and the big rock guy. Since it's the only movie theater around, I'm going to give it a thumbs up. The seats are excellent! Work well, easy to use and very comfy. Great swivel tray and two cup holders. Looks like there was no manager on duty, however, the place was nice and clean. Food was terrible. Only selection was chicken (no burgers), took forever and I had to pick up. They were gross. Soda machines were out of most diet choices. Bathrooms, while clean, locks didn't work. I'd suggest eating before or after or sticking to popcorn and candy and enjoying a very comfy seat to watch your movie. read more

My 1st time attending this Threater after they reopened with a new name. It's located with in the mall. The movie I wanted to see on Friday night was only played at this Threater at 7, other brand theaters had the same movie but in a later time. So I parked at the meter and paid 2 hrs because meter parking ends at 9. There's inside parking lot too. Maybe next time , if the movie I like is in the afternoon. So this place is new and big, roomy and wide, they are still expanding in the future , plans to add an arcade room, a dine in restaurant and ice cream section. So far, one side of the room s for snacks, & other side is for hot meals. Unlimited soda, smoothie & pop corn !! That's fantastic . I ordered 2 burgers : CEO & double patties burger, delicious! Cooked well and juicy . A good portion in sz , comes with fries soft and chunky , not that crispy or crunchy, which was fine . The threater I was in was a good sz for a class trip. They also reserve birthday parties. They do not serve you at your seats yet. In the works. I had a great experience and will be back. On a Friday night , was not crowded at all. After the movie , you can shop at ShopRite ; right next door. The staff are young and cool people. I will be back! read more

If theater execs wonder why people don't turn out to theaters anymore they should visit this one. An understaffed ghost town where they can't do the very basics, like shutting the lights when the movie starts (numerous visits in a row). AMC just lost $200 million in a quarter and I get it. When I watch a movie at home nobody can screw it up for me. If you don't mind neglect and a mediocre (ant best) experience, you should definitely check this place out! read more

I have a lot to say here.... This theater has to be one of the most disgusting theaters I've ever walked into. First off there is no one checking tickets. I couldn't figure out what was stopping anyone from just walking right in and theater hopping around. I'm not kidding, the place was semi crowded too and it's easy to walk right into any movie you wanted. The workers legitimately couldn't care less about the place. Don't bother paying high snack prices. Everyone was bringing in bags of snacks and whatnot from the Target downstairs. A little back story, my movie was at 7pm, this place was filthy before 6:30. The floors were lined with trash, popcorn and food everywhere all over the rugs. We stopped to use the bathroom before we went to our assigned theater and lord have mercy there was pee and water everywhere. Paper everywhere. The place was a disgrace. When we finally walked into the theater and got to our seats we immediately saw all the leather seats were falling apart, ripped, peeling, the kind of leather that peels and gets stuck on your skin and clothes. One of our seats didn't even recline. Every arm table was covered in grease and sticky stuff. If we didn't bring wet wipes we wouldn't even be able to use the table. If you can get past all the trash, filth, and whatever else you saw lying on the floor and your seats well then good for you. Paying for parking for this trash theater is icing on the cake. The escalators were broken so you have to take the stinky pee smelled stairwells that stunk of weed and urine. We managed to grab an elevator leaving and noticed a steamy pile of dog crap in the corner. I guess someone brought their dog into the elevator, it decided to poop, and they decided to not pick it up. After all that gross stuff let's not forget it's run by children all over the place. The stench of weed, the screaming of preteens and teenagers, just destroying the area even more makes this place unbearable. White Plains really fell off. Once a place you could say had the best most up to date theater has now become a shell of itself. It's basically a place for kids with no respect to run a muck. I will never step foot in there again. Especially with classy places like Mamaroneck Theater and what not around. There is no chance I would ever even think of going there again. read more

Took my young son to see a PG 13 movie and they played a Rated R Trailer. Manager on site could not of cared less about my complaint, no apology, made me wait 15 minutes to even hear the complaint while he sold popcorn. Place is dirty, understaffed, and they don't care about their patrons. No offer for a refund, no apology for scaring the hell out of my kid. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!! read more

I like this theatre and the snacks are great! Just don't get there too early as the burgers etc aren't always available early. Heck they had zero chicken one time when I was there and the kitchen was open. They take awhile to make the burgers and fries as they're made to order which means the food is nice and hot so get there early. The portions are nice. I'm going to take a picture next time so you can see. I must get better about picture I know folks. read more

Go to the Alamo, this movie theater is gross, filthy seat, filthy tray, gross not checked bathrooms,understaffed. I just would think a day off from school try and help a new business, but stay away, you can't help people who cannot give more than 2%. read more

Glad a new movie chain has taken over for the previous one that was there since the opening of the city center mall in white plains.To be honest , besides some cosmetic upgrades and changes , the theaters interior and beyond is the same as the old one. First run movies , large concession areas with typical movie candies and drinks with a few added bonuses for the fancy smancy types . Tickets prices is about what you should expect to pay for the times and snacks are expensive which is the norm for any movie chain theater . Bathrooms are clean for the most part and staff do a good job keeping large place clean . Screens are large , seats are comfortable, sound is good and no rats running around inside theater is always a plus . Glad this new movie chain took over quickly and glad the movie Wicked was almost 3 hours , best 3 hours of sleep I was able to get in a while . 3 stars on my yelp meter . read more

Went for matinee, hardly any customers, yet it took 15 minutes to get an employee to come to the concession stand and that's only because I went in the back to get someone. They advertise alcohol including beer, wine and Prosecco on large digital screens which they don't actually sell. Not today or any day since they've opened. Then why if it on the big screen??? 5 of the bathroom stall locks are broken. Just go somewhere else. read more

This review is for the White Plains location - it is updated nicely and theaters are large, and the seats are perfect. They recline all the way back and have a foot rest and snack tray. Some of the seats were missing the QR code so you have to scan the next one by you, which is what happened to me. We were a group of four so it wasn't a problem, you were able to order while you're in your seat however the Wi-Fi is terrible in the theater and so you have to walk out and stand in the lobby to order or you order your food before you enter the theater. With that said I ordered food from the phone in the lobby. Choices are burgers, fries, chicken sandwich, etc. For some reason, they do not have any drinks for delivery. So after I ordered the sandwiches, I had to wait online and order the drinks and then grab them to walk back to the theater. The movie was supposed to start at 7:30 and it started a few minutes after however they didn't shut the lights off until about 10 minutes into the movie, when the food arrived, the food was delivered pretty quickly and was good portions and hot. it was all delivered to one person and they had to shell out in the dark, which is not ideal. other eat in movie theaters we have visited deliver food to the correct seats. My review of two stars is because of the poor Wi-Fi, not being able to order drinks with your food end of the delivery. read more

I am updating my review to the new APPLE CINEMAS WHITE PLAINS CITY CENTER IMAX. I have been going there all summer. First, whom ever remodeled the movie theatre lobby did a fantastic job. It has Retro furniture in an electric yellow, comfortable couches and tables and chairs for eating a great hamburger from their Burger Fries Station. The best part of Apple Cinema is that on Tuesday tickets cost $5.75. Where can you go for an afternoon out for $5.75. You have to experience this amazing theatre. read more

I took my family to see Inside Out 2 and, while the film was great, the viewing experience was disappointing. First of all, they didn't clean the theater in between showings so there was popcorn on seats and spilled soda on trays. The quality of the image was beautiful but the screen was bigger than the image and I don't know why they didn't fill the screen. There was a noticeable difference in size. Also, it felt like there was no surround sound or subwoofer, all the sound was coming from the front of the theater as if it was just a two channel projection. The seats are comfortable. read more

This was pretty much self serve everything from scanning your own tickets to serving your own popcorn , butter and drinks. Seats do not recline. It was empty and just felt so lonely. I was super happy that this theater opened replacing Cinema Lux. Recently saw a movie here and loved the new layout. Plus the waiting attendant was very helpful when it came to getting our tickets. The process was easy. Once we figured out the popcorn and drinks too (unlimited- thank you!), we went to the theater. Seats were comfy but did not recline in the IMAX theater. It wasn't a problem it was still a good seat. The only issue I had was that the theater wasn't cleaned at our showing. Popcorn here..popcorn there on the floor. And after reading previous reviews about the ladies restroom, I'm glad to say it wasn't the train wreck I feared. It was super clean and thank goodness for that. The volume on the movie was crazy loud and it started about ten minutes late. All in all it wasn't a bad experience and I will definitely be returning. read more

We were so happy that this theater reopened. After sitting through a couple of previews with no image/video on the screen, we went to inform a theater employee. She informed the manager, but then we returned to the area and the movie started and still no image, just audio. I asked for a refund, and the manager offered to restart the movie for us with visual. That was fine, but it took an additional 10 minutes of audio only movie playing for it to be restarted. We lost 22 minutes of time, heard some of the movie plot with audio only, and received only a tepid apology for the inconvenience. At no point were we offered any kind of voucher for the error, which is especially egregious after they'd been informed of the issue prior to the feature starting. I don't know what they need to do to improve, but not being able to successfully see a movie at a movie theater seems like they are failing at pretty fundamental things. read more

After the closure of the past cinema, it is safe to say that this one will follow soon in its tracks. However unlike the past cinema which had decent and accommodating staff, this one proved to be lackluster and quite unprofessional. Not only did the film feature not play but it took 30 minutes for staff to start any efforts of adhering to the situation. But to be fair while the team try to remedy the situation it was the manager that behaved belligerently and failed to accommodate the needs and demands of the irate paying customers. Be aware that attempting to watch a film at this movie theater will likely result in failure and dissatisfaction. Caveat emptore read more
