Worst Apple Store ever. When you make an appointment at a certain time, it is expected to be seen at or around that time, not an hour to two hours later. When you arrive early, so that you can be seen at the scheduled time, they tell you to come back later, then you've gotta wait an hour+ to be seen after check-in. read more

Apple tried to charge more 299 DOLLARS for a new phone that I had replaced 5 months earlier. It became moist, but was in my jacket pocket, so it was somewhat protected. It seemed like the screen no longer worked but I could still receive calls and talk on it fine. I said I needed to think about it and took it the next day to DIRECT PHONE FIX on Milwaukee Ave and had the screen, not the phone, replaced. 87 DOLLARS, 20 MINUTES later, with a one-year warranty on the new screen, and I'm quite pleased. The people at Apple who tried to help me were nice enough, but something is wrong when you take to the place where they are suppose to be experts and take it to the back to determine the entire phone needs to be replaced. Wrong. Lame. Either way, I saved $213 and gave my money to Direct Phone Fix. Apple is now my last resort. read more

So the genius' are beyond!!!! my laptop would turn back on and i originally took it to best buy and before they could even check it they wanted me to pay $150 to back up the hard drive than some additional money depending what was wrong and keep it for 3-4wks. um ya no! went to the apple store and the genius' plugged it in and realized the internal battery just wasnt charging- no biggie and no need to back up my stuff since it was all there. they fixed it and were only going to charge me $10 bucks (even after replacing my jacked up old keyboard. it ended up being completely covered so it was free, free, free!!! they are beyond awesome!!! read more

Good luck getting help here with your device. The lady who answered the phone just now just told me to bring my device down to the store (again) but I was asking her why? I've been told that they don't do anything with beats there even though beats are handled by Apple, and so I asked her , why do I have to drive down there again (no parking lot) you literally have to park down these crazy busy streets with tight parking space. And she said "well if they sent you your beats device with incomplete pieces, obviously we can't do anything over the phone". And I said excuse me? I asked her if she didn't have the replacement piece there at the store what was the reason for me to go? And she said "well I don't know that's why I said you need to come down here". She was just provoking me so much and finally says "you wanna call apple customer care then?" And I said so you can't help me right? Why not just say that from the beginning? Instead of arguing with me on the phone. She gives me the customer care number and says it's annoyingly fast, and I told her to say it slower, that's wayyyy to fast, obviously she has an attitude by this point but so do I! Options on a phone purchased in June 2017 for 849.00 that failed (main logic board is corrupt) are totally unacceptable... they want me to pay another 349.00 for another phone (new) 7 plus model when it is out of date by. 3-4 generations!!! Today I saw a genius become an angel. A blind woman sat down at my table. One tall genius came over and patiently and expertly fix all the keyboard problems and sound problems on her laptop and iPad. He explained precisely and clearly every step he was taking. I was surprised how expert the blind woman herself was. And you think how much you depend on being connected! This is directly at the manager of the Lincoln Park Apple Store. I had AirPods that had a battery break down after a year and a half. Seemed like I was out of luck but I heard about the recalls and thought I might be eligible. I wasn't I asked some questions of the manager and it all went down hill. A gross human being, who snapped physically at her employee when they tried to leave and was condescending and rude the entire interaction. I can't cover how terrible of a person this woman was. I hope no one ever has to deal with her, if you do, please let her know she should move from the front entrance when she's discussing how employees must show up despite being sick. That was a fun phone call to over hear. She's the worst, my AirPods are officially dead, and I'm sure her life is full of sadness and hate. read more

Pros: Validated parking The item I wanted to buy was in stock Cons: Very long wait that was uncertain - it'd be nice to know where you are in the queue rather than being told to just hang out in the area. My salesperson was super scatterbrained. I kept thinking she was doing things incorrectly because she seemed all over the place. There are a ton of employees, but it never seems like they're helping customers. They're walking around or on their devices (which is probably related to their job), but it's weird to be put on a list by someone who then proceeds to chat with another employee. read more

Not very helpful. They said they could change my program to save me a lot of money. Eventually, their suggestion gave me a minimally better program at a slight increase in cost. I said "Thanks", and left, without changing anything, only to learn a day later that the had changed my program without my approval. I also asked about their home phone program which the sales person did not understand at all. After considerable research, the acting manager told me that it would not work for my needs, as I had numerous extensions in my home, and their program is designed for a single extension installation. read more

I had one of the best customer experiences of my life here all due to Max. He was tremendously helpful not only by saving me at least half an hour to 1-2 hours of time (which really helped me not be late to my next appointment when I thought for sure I was going to be late and it was going to be another problem for me if I were), but he also made sure with a manager -- Dave (who was also kind and helpful) -- to approve something that is not in writing, which further made things so much easier on me. Max was also so chill about everything, which really should be the way anyone in customer experience should be versus being the usual stickler or annoying or making a customer's life or day harder. Because Max was so all-around wonderful, he even started to turn around some terrible customer service effects that I experienced just prior to having to go to this Apple Store. The experience that I had just had prior to coming to the Apple Store had been even more shocking because it was at a YOGA STUDIO by a "yoga teacher" of all places and two more people who also may have been " yoga teachers" as well. Max was MORE CHILL than even A YOGA STUDIO or a yoga "teacher", and HE is what decreased my stress level, NOT the yoga studio employees or yoga class. His wonderful energy shines through and really does prove that when you behave well and kindly to others, it makes such a powerful difference and it spreads. He actually also finished my sentence with that word when I tried to tell him how much his words and actions made a difference to me. If it were up to me, Max would get an immediate promotion and raise in recognition of how well he treats customers. Max reminded me how much of a huge difference good actions make, even if you think they are small, and that is allowing me to continue my own good words and actions, but with even more conviction and with a renewed energy. read more

Oh man, this store is a bit of a mob scene. Every time I walk by--weekend or week night--it's always swamped and it can be difficult to navigate through all the bodies. Highly recommend having an appointment if you're coming in to see the Genius Bar for anything. Someone is typically able to see me within 10 minutes of my appointment time and they run diagnostics quickly and figure out a solution even faster, even if that means replacing your device. During the summer, their (or the CTA's? Not sure) outdoor seating area is super cute, relaxing and great for people watching! PRO TIP: Whenever you need to go in for an appointment, always have your device backed up before you arrive. It's pretty much always the first question they'll ask you if something needs to get fixed. read more

They are not experts whatsoever and did not even try to help. Brought an iPhone 12 Pro in because brightness was not working. They claimed it had water damage (both the tech and the main tech) by looking at front camera. Then said they could see it on back camera- I removed the protective screen and what they saw went away. They still claimed water damage. When I asked if iPhones were water resistant the tech told me "no" which is completely false since the iPhone 7 model. Not once did they open the SIM card to see the liquid contact indicator which was not red. Sure enough no water damage and the online help was way better. read more

Rarely use Yelp to write positive reviews but I had an Exceptional experience this weekend! I came in super stressed out and frustrated and a genius named Nelson helped me. Truly listened to my frustrations, had a great sense of humor and made me feel heard. By the end of the appointment I was actually laughing and feeling better! I dropped my phone and subsequently cracked the screen over the Thanksgiving holiday. Was worried it would take a while to repair since the next available repair reservation was Monday after 4pm when I searched online. However, I decided to drop by this store in person today and it was fixed in 1.5 hrs. This was my first time inside this store but Hubby walked me through the check-in process and what to expect since he broke his phone a few months ago. It's wasn't too crowded yet so I was able to check in pretty quickly and ended up waiting about 10 minutes before being called. Artie was super helpful and so friendly, walking a tech-inept person like me through the process. He outlined what I to expect in terms of cost, possible cost changes based on any unforeseen damage once the phone was opened, and gave a reasonable timeframe to return for pick up. He even took the time to ask how my holidays went. When I returned later, I was still able to check in quickly and only waited 10 minutes to pick up my phone, good as new. Relieved the repair process went as smoothly as it did and hope I don't have to return anytime soon, between Hubby breaking his screen, baby girl throwing Nanny's phone into the toilet, and my own screen breaking in the past 3 months...we need a break from phone accidents!! read more

I have only written one or two Yelp reviews before, but felt the need to write one after reading the reviews here. I am blown away by the number of negative reviews for the Lincoln Park Apple store. We have been coming here for years for help w our iPhones and iPads (probably 4-5 times per years), and never had anything but great experiences! We frequently make Genius Bar appointments, rarely have to wait more than 5-8 minutes, and consistently get very good and friendly service. Last night Justin helped us to buy a new MacBook as part of the Back to School sale. He was informative, efficient, and we had a great conversation about MLB ballparks, to boot! read more

Went to the Apple Store today to purchase a MacBook Air or an Ipad as i am tired of lugging my heavy 15" MacBook Pro. Wanted to speak to someone about differences between the products and stopped a guy who spoke with me briefly. Was very nice but said he was a manager and would send a salesperson over who would be able to assist me. Was not a particularly busy thurs with many workers milling about. After waiting almost 15min without anyone coming to help, i left. The original manager never checked back to see if i got assistance either. On my way out, i saw the manager helping another customer and i told him i was leaving and let him know no one ever came. Will spend my money elsewhere. read more

Don't use this location!!! Apple Store Lincoln Park ruined my airpods then refused to replace them. My airpods microphone went out on me at the start of the pandemic (within 1 year of purchase). By time I made an appointment and came in to this location several months later, the store was bustling packed and very very loud. I explained to the tech that the microphone wasn't working on them so he proceeded to use a sticky putting-like substance to "clean" the bottom of them. This ended up leaving a fair amount of the putty behind, effectively making the problem worse and covering the metal grate at the bottom of the microphone. He then did a "test call" and had me use the airpods to answer his call as he stepped a few feet away in the store. When I answered his call, I said some phrases and he insisted he could hear me and that there was nothing wrong with my microphone but also was unable to tell me any of the phrases I said (making it very very clear the microphone wasn't actually functioning). He was so eager to push me out the door and refused to do anything to fix the broken microphone that he now left putty on the bottom of. Frustrated, I asked if the manager could address the issue, but the manager refused to even look at the airpods because I had now owned them for over a year and I didn't make an online ticket about the issue while I was waiting for a safe time to bring them into the store (re: pandemic). Just absolutely awful and useless customer service. On my walk back to my car, I called a friend to see if the microphone was working as the technician said. My friend couldn't hear anything, confirming what I already knew -- that the tech was blatantly lying. With the putty now stuck on the bottom, the airpods won't even charge anymore, turning the issue from a non functioning microphone into an entirely nonfuctioning headset all together. I cam in for support and apple completely ruined my airpods and said basically said "tough luck." I've been to plenty of apple stores and never experienced such horrible service as the Lincoln Park location. Will never bring my products there again. It's worth the drive to avoid this location!! read more

If I could give Apple one star I would. Their newest iPhone X is a total trash that didn't pass proper Q and A, has a faulty camera and if you passed your 14 days period they really don't have any recourse for you. Apple is a typical corporate company that doesn't have the capacity to deal with problems it creates. Unfortunately alternative is much worse, so I became a hostage of the company, as opposed to being a happy customer. I can't wholeheartedly recommend this company and their services anymore. This store specifically will have a manager listen to you, but not actually do anything about any issues that you make, nor give you any follow up on the issues you've mentioned. read more

Purchased the AirPods in less than 30 days they fell out of my ear (something they tend to do often) into oven and burned a bit. They were adamant about charging me $70. Had a friend who purchased his the exact same day as me, his got SMASHED by a car, he went in and they made a one time courtesy. I've owned the iPhone since June 2007 when the first model came out. I've lived in NYC, Atlanta, Detroit-area, and now Chicago in those years. I've visited Apple stores in all of those cities... I have purchased 4 previous iPhones, 2 iPads, and a couple Macs... I've never had a bad experience until tonight at this store. First, I did my homework, and ordered my phone online... so i was just there to pick it up, and make sure all my stuff transferred. I walked in - and there was a gaggle of Apple t-shirt greeters all huddled and laughing around someone's phone. I stood there staring at them for at least 5 minutes. Not one acknowledged me. I walked past them, and found another Apple t-shirt guy and said, i'm here to pick up a phone. He said, "Oh, go see our greeters" and directed me back to the people previously ignoring me. I walked back to them and interrupted them saying "Excuse me, i need to pick up a phone." One guy, says oh - ok, go see Crystal, and pointed me in the a direction towards the entirety of the store. Ummm, who's that? He then walks me back to a woman in the middle of another exchange, he interrupts her and says, "this lady is here for a phone." She nods and smiles... but says nothing. As i stand at the table... at least 3-4 other people come up to ask her questions...she still is in the middle of her transaction. She finishes, then starts helping a woman with her iPad pen. I said, "excuse me, should I see someone else." She says no, she'll be with me in a minute. I stand there longer. As i'm writing this its making me mad all over again... to cut to the chase, i had to talk to 6 different people before i walked out of the store with my phone half functioning... i couldn't deal with one Apple rep helping 3-4 people at a time (none very well), while these groups of Apple t-shirt guys stood around laughing and joking. Where was the manager??? never again. There is a store in Clinton Township, Michigan near my parents... i will always wait and go to that store rather than ever return here. read more

I have to go with one star because of the way the girl at check-out treated me!!! Honestly it was so rude!!! I will get to this story later!!! First question...am I the only person that walks in here to buy stuff? It is like a party in here everytime...concerts...people using free wifi...others talking to the genius at the Barnie they have two small tables with computers for kids!!! Get them addicted while they are young! I found two employees and they were talking to each other with there iPads in hand and when I made eye contact they finished up the conversation and tried to make a run for it. That didn't make me mad because when I told them that I actually waned to buy the adapter for my iPad to transfer photos over they were like my best buddies. Can we say "easy sale"!!! I really wish I had all day to hang out and play with the toys here...it is so sad that this place is so close and I never get to just come in and enjoy myself. So I grab the adapter and go to the register. I swipe my credit card and the register lady asks for a photo id. She then takes the id and starts studying it...like actually looking at it...almost too long...I finally say,"What? Does it not look like me?" She keeps looking at it and says nothing...then finally after 5 uncomfortable seconds says, "Yeah I guess it looks like you!" So then I say, "Why do I look better in person?" And she says, "No not really!" I was home for about an hour when it hit me...she was really rude to me and I actually spent money there!!! I wish I could say that she was joking or trying to be sarcastic but she never did a LOL...like an actual Laugh Out Loud...she just handed me back my id and asked if I wanted a receipt in my bag or emailed to me. On another note...I have a device that cost 800 bucks and I can not plug a USB into it. And then you sell me an adapter to do just that for 32 bucks...why didn't you just throw it in the box? For that price it would have made sense...plus I would have not had to go to the Apple Store and meet the mean cold hearted register lady who probably has no friends and takes it out on nice customers all day!!! read more

Not the biggest fan. Nope. Not having it. It was a pain int he butt to make an appointment during the week. Walking in grated on my nerves as I saw a clusterf*k of customers and employees and nobody greeting or talking to me. I freakin' hated finding someone to check in. There was a disorganized gaggle of people crowded around a man with an iPad who were also checking in. I was confused and on the outskirts. Then they made my festering wound burn when they made me wait beyond my appointment time for someone to assist me. Every. Single. Other customer had to wait for help too. One guy was looking to purchase something and couldn't find someone to help him. I've never seen that in an Apple store. The guy who helped me was fine but ultimately told me that my issue was a lost cause. That's not his fault. He was actually the best part of the whole experience. There were supposed to be classes going on. I saw tables of people but they didn't appear to get instruction from anyone. I got my parking validated and was pissed that I had to pay $2. There's just way too much happening at once with a photography workshop in the middle of all this for some reason. There's so many people left confused. "Where's the line? Where are the appointments? Where do I wait?" I stopped by at 3:30 try to see what was wrong with my mom's faulty phone, met with someone an hour later at 4:30, leaving the store finally at 5. I brought my laptop and my recently cracked iPhone 4 in there. I needed my phone's screen replaced, and had a question regarding water damage/battery life on my laptop. Before I had the entire sentence out of my mouth, "Phil" immediately states that cracked screens are not covered by any Apple warranty, and a new iPhone 4 is $150. Which is fine, let's not waste time here.. but it's the TONE he says it in, as if my dumbass should've known. Duuhhhhh.... There were no pleasantries... just matter of fact, I am smarter than you, and here are the facts... "according to Phil." When it came to my laptop, he refused to even look at it. Just said it'll be $750 to send it off for inspection. (which is total bullshit, cuz I've had my laptop disassembled before AT the Genius Bar for a different issue). He could have at least humored me.. he could taken the keyboard tray out to check it out. It only takes a second.. but refused.. only saying.. $750 over and over. What a jerk. When i caved and bought yet another iPhone 4, he said he was unable to activate it cuz it's Verizon and sent me to the Verizon store across the street. To which the Verizon guy says.. "They do that all the time.. the Apple store CAN, but they just WON'T activate Verizon iPhones there." Phil. Lazy, self-centered, and rude. When someone is spending hundreds and thousands of dollars the store you are employed at, be friendly. IT'S YOUR FUCKING JOB. I just hate feeling like: I as the consumer needs Apple, more than Apple needs me to keep their stock valuable and products trendy. ***ps: When i bought my "new" iPhone 4, Phil demanded that I hand over my broken one. Probably the most efficient Apple Store I've ever been to. Staff might as well have been speaking a foreign language when they fixed my iPhone, but they did it and in about no time at all. The G-bar runs a pretty tight ship so don't expect extra long waits. Parking kinda sucks, but there's easy access to the CTA so that's good if you're trying to find the best way to get there. The greeters are always friendly and you may even run into an awesome yelper who works there as well. Jobs would definitely approve. read more

I had the Logic Board replaced on my MacBook Pro for a hefty $320! There was a broken RAM slot on there, so one of the two 4 GB RAM (which were from a 3rd party - corsair, and they were not Mac RAM) sticks was not working. So I tried my best to clearly mention this to the "geniuses," and they gave me the impression that everything was understood and in their notes. This was back in August, because I did not have the funds then to do the repair. So fast forward to a few days ago, I take it back in, again, confirming that everything is understood, and that I need to replace the logic board to fix the RAM. So I get it back only to see that the original 8 GB of RAM that I had was replaced with 4 GB of Mac RAM (two 2GB sticks). I'm not sure what's going on here guys, and I never asked you to replace the RAM, only the logic board! So now, in addition to the $320 I spent on the Logic Board, I'll have to pay something near $100 to get back the RAM that I originally had, and more if I want it installed. So after complaining about this, the manager Natalie called and assured me that everything would be resolved, and they would either return the old RAM if they could find it, or they set me up with a new set. I was so glad that they could understand my situation. Now a day later, I call in and they refer me to lead genius "Adam" saying that they have it no where in their notes or in their diagnostics that I ever had 8GB of RAM in the first place.. despite all our previous communications. I was not allowed to speak with Natalie, the manager who assured me that everything would be resolved, they denied everything that was said in our previous conversations, and they even refused to give me the number to the corporate office to file an official complaint. It's a confusing situation, and it seems like a bunch of honest miscommunications. But their cowardice in shifting the representatives who I could talk to, their lack of communication, (or note taking skills), and their immaturity by obstructing me the right to at least make an official complaint, the whole process was just extremely stressful and drawn out. I've used Mac for a long time, but this really offends me! How they dealt with it was childish. I'm done with Mac, and I will be taking my business elsewhere for now on! read more

However, this being the season, my nephew's wish list included a charger for his new Iphone - where else but the Apple Store to make my purchase - right? WRONG! I walk in - I was greeted at the door by one person, the next person asked if he could help me - so I asked him for what I was looking for - he looked then came back to tell me that they were sold out then said - maybe I should try Best Buy or Target..WHAT?? I thought for sure, in this tech-savvy store, they would have the capability to look into one of their overpriced machines and check another Apple store to see if they had the chargers in stock and maybe have it shipped to the store, or maybe hold it for me at another store so I could pick it up? I mean, hell, pick up one of those wonder-IPhones and call the store -- But not even an offer to check, instead, I get sent to another store. Maybe it was because I wasn't looking to throw away $1000's of dollars but rather $30 on their products? Who knows...but yeah, as for Apple and I, it's a no-go. read more

If you go to an Apple store and your system needs to be sent in for repair, they have you sit and type in your password which shows on an Intranet form in clear-text (for literally anyone standing on the showroom floor to see, sales associate, everyone), they then print that out on 8.5x11 paper and tape it to the system which is sent via FedEx. I've experienced this multiple times in this store, but it's a general Apple policy and happens elsewhere too. It's totally unbelievable. It's also totally unnecessary--they don't need your password to boot your system after they've changed the motherboard or keyboard or touchpad or whatever, they can boot to a USB stick or network or a million other ways than by logging in to my hard drive as myself. If you don't provide the password, instead of these simple solutions that any enterprise uses, they threaten you by saying they will wipe your hard drive "most likely." This issue aside, I've been to multiple stores and this one is not near the top of my list. One time I couldn't be checked-in to my appointment because her iPad was dead and she had to go to the basement. Everything seems to happen in the basement... and the managers don't seem to be present on the floor. Can't get over the absolute joke of an experience I had here last week. I visited the store to check out the difference between the iPhone 8 and 10, in particular the camera and the battery life. I currently have a 2 year old iPhone 6 and want to upgrade for a better battery and camera. I walked over to the phone displays and was met by a greeter who offered to help me, but as soon as I explained why I was there, he tried to dissuade me from even looking at a new phone. He told me that I didn't need a new phone, I just need to learn how to use the phone I already have. I had to keep pressing him to show me the models and the specs. It was beyond bizarre. Is this not a store that attempts to sell things? Do you not think that a blond female can handle an advanced phone? Do you actually know the specs that I'm asking about? This employee wanted to "help" me but on his own terms, via flirting with me and showing me all his cool "tips and tricks." One of these demos involved him taking photos of me with his phone. I DID NOT want him to take my photo but he did it anyway. It made me feel extremely uncomfortable. He also assumed that I didn't know about the camera grid. Dude, I know about the grid. He then told me a bunch of absolute BS regarding battery life, such as "you should shut your phone down for 5 mins twice a day, that's what we recommend." Since when?? Who told you that? And he told me that I should be force quitting "all my open apps" but swiping up on them to conserve the battery! That myth is still around?? Apple employees are telling customers to do that?? I was so frustrated that I just left, and after leaving I wondered if I had actually spoken with an employee or a complete rando posing as an employee. Previously I visited the genius bar at this location for a MacBook issue and that was fine, but DEAR MANAGER you need to properly train your floor staff. I've been a life-long Apple/Mac person but this experience has me SHOOK and I am now considering a switch to Samsung. read more
