A few other employees helped as well, and I apologize I didn't get their names...but it made one thing clear- the employees at this location truly know what they're doing as well as how to assist people with consideration and patience. Came in for some help with my iPad that has been in recover mode. They sent me to the third floor which you can get up to through their enormous staircase. This place is nice and wide open, huge windows overlooking the street. The staff were friendly and helpful. They told me my wait would be about an hour. They were rolling in new carpets when I was in there. Got an appt set up and I was there on time but still had to wait. The wait was about 7 minutes. I'd recommend if you plan to get assistance with a product to make an appt ahead of time. Although the staff was helpful, and I sat through my appt to get my iPad restored I ran out of time but the staff told me I should be good to go with my iPad. When I first showed up to the Apple store to trade in my Macbook Pro for credit, I went to the first floor where a nice employee helped me figure out what the value might be, but after 5 min or so, he sent me up to the Genius Bar for further assistance. Cool. I went up there with my Mac and charger and sat there for over half an hour waiting to be helped. I'm a Black man, and sat there trying to make eye contact with all employees, but everyone averted my gaze. I sat next to a white guy who was being helped by two employees at one time and he was asking the same question over and over. After helping him, the two dispersed and kept walking past me without stopping. Finally, I asked another employee walking by if I could get some help to which he replied, "I'm not a technician," and kept walking. I waited 10 more minutes then packed my stuff up. As I left, I checked my phone to see if there were any Citibikes nearby, and I notice an employee finally looking at me, but suspiciously, as if I had potentially stolen my i-phone. I left so furious. I love Macs and after trade-in was prepared to buy a new one there on the spot. Guess not. read more

My phone was stolen this afternoon and I ran to the Apple Store in a panic. They could not have been nicer or more efficient! They immediately helped me freeze my phone, got me hooked up with a temporary phone, and told me how to apply for my replacement phone (yay AppleCare!). Best advice they gave me...freeze your stolen phone then get your temporary phone and download your information from the cloud THEN erase your old phone. After painfully extracting the the information I needed then and only then asked staff to bring item from another area from stores wasting 20 minutes. A solid Apple Store, as far as Apple stores go. This one is rather big with two levels and plenty of associates who greet you warmly and are there to help with everything you need. I came in on a weekday morning because I was in the area and really wanted to try one of this VR headset demos everyone's been talking about that last 30 minutes and are supposed to be life changing. They had availability later in the afternoon, but nothing right then which was a bummer. Value wise the prices here are the same as any other Apple Store. Worth a visit if you're in the area, but if you want to try the headset demo be prepared to wait. read more

Apple Store on 14th Street in Chelsea sometimes has training classes not offered elsewhere. It's very inconvenient from where I live. When I'm nearby I have gone in and gotten the same great customer service when I ask questions. Sometimes I cop a free phone charge by plugging in to a display. It's great fun trying out the new devices. Today I had to update four of my SIX Apple devices. Even my old iPhone 5s had an update. It took me hours. I guess that's the price I have to pay for the security of using Apple products. I'm recommending you stop by this store when you're nearby. read more

They will refuse to let you buy a new iphone and will not let you get service. Arrogant Apple! The Indian service guy told me it would take hours and hours and hours to transfer my up to 128G data to the new iPhone 14. He said I should not spent their time. The Indian service person let me go back home to do transfer by myself. I told him I bought iPhone 13 twice in Atlanta and San Francisco and it took me 30 mins transferred the data in stores. He said the network in this store was slow. When I asked he change another service guy, he synced up a person for a long time then the new guy came back with the same answer even though I told him I was ok to wait for 1.5 hours. He still suggested me to leave. Surprisingly Apple haven't conducted massive layoffs for low performers like other high tech companies did. read more

I was a walk-in to the Apple store on yesterday, to exchange a new pair of EarPods. A pair that I had just purchased a couple of months ago at the Grand Central store location. An associate on the lower level pointed me in the direction of the Genius Bar, where she said she'd quickly made an appointment for me to have my EarPods examined by a Genius Bar technical associate. When I arrived to the Genius Bar floor, the gentleman at the front of the floor (I believe his name was Yabin - I'm so sorry if I'm getting his name wrong) asked my name, probably saw my EarPods purchase receipt in the Apple system, and he then told me that he'd gladly just switch the faulty EarPods out for a new pair without the hassle of the Genius Bar inspection. Yabin walked me over to an associate, told her to use his manager code to override and I walked in and out of the Apple store in 20 minutes flat. 25 minutes at the VERY most. I used to live blocks from this Apple Store location so I'm very familiar with how busy they can be and how much foot traffic that location gets. And so with that in mind, I can say that I am truly appreciative of how quick yesterday's transaction was handled, without any hassle, and with the customer in mind. Thank you Apple Team! I left my home with 98% battery&now I'm at 17% with just texts,settings,spotify,brief call&some gps. I have a 2016 15" MacBook Pro with touch bar, which randomly crashed and wouldn't restart. I tried a bunch of things over next couple of days but no dice. Figured it was dead. Took it to this Apple Store. The Genius took it apart in a back room, told me the logic board is dead and quoted $678 to replace it, with loss of all data. I went to Rossmann nearby to ask about data recovery. The guy at the front desk took the laptop apart in front of me and found the issue in 10 seconds. A small screw had become dislodged and was wedged between two components on the board. Worked fine after removing that. No cost (I gave the guy a tip). Amazing. I really hope that this was just incompetence on the part of the Apple Genius, and not them trying to charge me for unnecessary repairs. But it's a one star review either way. read more

One of the many Apple Store's in NY, this is in the Meatpacking District / Chelsea at W 14th St right next to the fantastic, stunning Starbucks Reserve Roastery. The store is over three floors (it isn't as big as it sounds - but it still is a decent size) with a rather nice glass staircase. The staff didn't stand out as other Apple Stores do, but they still did have a decent selection of Apple merch on show, the store felt pretty modern but I do feel the store was a combination of small floors making it a decent size and I would have preferred maybe it to be over two floors, both being slightly larger as it would give the store a nicer feel to it compared to being slightly cramped. It might not be the nicest Apple Store in the city, and it might not have the most features one would think of when imagining an Apple Store - but it doesn't mean it's terrible. And if you're coming for a genius bar appointment (that you made in advance, of course, you savvy person you), make your way to the third floor and look to check in with one of the those Apple Store workers holding an iPad. After visiting several times for various reasons, whether looking at new products or accessories, or visiting the Genius Bar for repairs to my devices, the experience I've had has always been helpful, knowledgable, and courteous. There are times when they've run late due to a back up of appointments - however, overall, the Genius Bar has been on-time (read: well-staffed) and super helpful. read more

In order to make an insurance claim, I needed my receipt, which I had apparently tossed out. Kyle went to great lengths to find the receipt (from 2022) and email it to me. I had to review here because I took a look at all the "bad" reviews and it's just a lot of entitled people expected a whole lot during a pandemic. Not great. Came in with a friend to buy a phone.They let us in but could not get any assistance and they said we needed an appointment. Ok fine. Went outside, bought on line, returned when the order was ready. One of the people brought the phone. After I asked just 1 question, he said he was not the one who bought the phone. That's fine. Do not really need their help to set up or anything like that. Just overall they could have been a little more friendly, seemed like a couple of people in charge of the floor were on the edge. I came in here twice, both times to get information on a broken MacBook and then on buying a new one and both times I the employees were patient and helpful. I spoke to Jason (I think is his name) in the Genius Bar and he was great. I didn't feel rushed at all and I had tons of questions. They told me my appointment was summarily cancelled and they could reschedule me for an appointment within 30 minutes. After waiting an hour and a half, I was told my appointment was moved 2 hours later. I do not recommend this store at all. read more

I came here on a Monday around 3pm. I like this location as it doesn't seem as crowded as other locations, like UWS, midtown, or Soho. I came here to check out the new 15" MacBook Pro, released July 2018.. Um, awesome. The sales associates here are always knowledgeable, and not pushy. They understand the products are big ticket items, and customers need a lot of information and time to think about these purchases. Even when they're busy, I appreciate that they work hard to have enough sales associates on the floor to accommodate most. So that even when they're busy, you're never waiting long to talk to someone or ask questions. This store has 3 levels, which makes it annoying to travel through the store. You can definitely get a work out if you take the beautiful circle staircase highlighted at the front of the store. FYI, there's an elevator behind the stairs. Bathroom is on the 3rd floor. read more

I came to have my water damaged iPhone 12 replaced (surprising to even have to due this when you consider Apple's claims that this phone has an IP68 water resistance rating) and ended up spending most of almost an hour and half just waiting around. Check in was quick but had to wait over an hour for someone to help us out including multiple redirects to different floors to talk to sales and the Genius Bar since one person alone couldn't answer all of our questions. Worst of all, when we went to talk to people on the sales level our appointment was ended so we had to try and get a spot in the queue again to be able to talk to the Genius Bar people again. This has never happened at any other Apple store before and it was honestly surprising. Overall I don't think I'll be coming back again. read more

I went to the 14th/8th avenue store to pick up my order. I was there 5-6 mins after closing (they close at 8). And even though, it was just a pickup, the employee at the front door refused to let me go inside and pick up my order. He said that their systems are down, even though I saw multiple people inside because it was just a couple of mins after closing. I told him I had the QR code ready and I was traveling tomorrow morning. He still refused. I asked him if it's possible to change the pickup location to another store that's closer to me, so it's easier for me to grab it before I go to the airport in the morning bc it will be really tight for me. The employee offered NO advice or sympathy. His solution was to come down to the 14th at store pick it up at 9am. Absolutely worst service experience at Apple. I left in tears and cancelled my order bc no way that I could have made it to the 14th st store at 9am and made my flight. read more

She's the only Apple Store employee that seemed like she gave a shit here, and that's worth something. I think. This location is a cool spot with the towering glass staircase and the 14th street location, but despite the employees seemingly outnumbering the customers whenever I've been there, it's hard to get some good help. Unless you find Sequaña. Otherwise, this is an Apple Store. They've got all the Apple things you need here, and it's surprisingly not usually that crowded, despite being in the middle of Manhattan. Do not bring your repairs to this Apple Store - go make your Genius Bar appointment at a different store. I brought in my MacBook Pro with Touchbar after my display was having issues - it would display when the screen was below 90-degrees but once you opened it to 90 degrees, it would go black. I was told this was a common issue (in fact, it was is https://support.apple.com/13-inch-macbook-pro-display-backlight-service) and that they could fix it in a timely manner and it would be covered. While at the store, I confirmed with the Genius Bar technician that the screen did in fact turn on before it reached 90-degrees, and it was the technician that reported that it appeared to be a display connector issue. I then get an email around 2-hours later asking for me to call the Store for an update. I call the store and they let me know that AFTER the repair, the display does not power on anymore and that they will have to send it to an offsite facility to fix. In addition to that, I will now have to pay $475 for the repair. I asked multiple times, "so you are telling me that my display, which was powering on at certain angles when I brought it in, is not powering on after you repaired it." and they confirmed that was correct, but since it has to be sent offsite (and is no longer covered by Apple+ Care, I would have to pay the full $475). This is when I hung up on the store and immediately called the Apple Support Number, who let me know that this is NOT the expected behavior. I was able to be connected with Michael, who was a Senior Support specialist who was able to get this approved. So moving forward, go to a different store to get repairs or call Apple Directly when this 14th St store tries to charge you. read more

I went to this Apple Store for a phone repair since it's close to my job. Waited 2 hours for them to say that they didn't do anything since they saw water damage. When I asked for my phone back to bring it back to my service provider to take advantage of their deal, the Genius Bar employee told me they couldn't give me my phone back unless I paid them $400 for a replacement or had AppleCare or insurance. Luckily I had insurance, but they damaged my phone screen in the process of it all, to try and make a sale there. When I later went through the terms and agreements, I saw nothing about them holding phones hostage if they're damaged unless you paid for a replacement or had coverage of some kind. It's good if you need to buy accessories or a charger, but I would not go here for any Genius Bar issues. read more
