Make a reservation for the Genius Bar and get in line!

Pam saved my work life. She is an angel, and I'm so grateful to her for helping me out. Here's my story... It was a Sunday night around 7pm, and I noticed my work computer was on 4%...with the charger plugged in. I wiggled and wiggled that charging cord, but no go. Time to get a new charger! I'm so lucky to live less than five minutes from the Apple store in NBK, so around 7:40 I ran to the mall before closing with the intention to pick up another charger. Ummm...when's the last time you were at the mall and stopped by Apple? Well, it looks a lot different now. There literally is no store and it's just a few walk up windows. It was pretty quiet with a couple of customers in line. The security guards mentioned that I would have had to order the cord online and place an order for pickup. Since it was pretty quiet, and I was desperate, I told them I wanted to speak with someone at the window and that I'd give it a whirl and see what happens. And...here's what happened. I walked right up to the window and Pam was there. I explained to her that I was going to miss a work deadline if I didn't get my computer charged. She explained that now you have to order ahead of time and place an order for pickup. I was prepared to order right from my phone, but it was still too late to order and I would have had to wait until the next day. I begged her. I mean I begged. And, like the angel she is, she got me a new charger on the spot, but she explained they don't really do that. I thanked her and told her I'd be writing this review, because she literally saved me. Pam, I hope you see this, because I made my work deadline thanks to you. You are an angel. Note: For the future, plan to call ahead and make an appointment for the genius bar or for anything else you might need to pick up. Apple means businesses. You typically cannot get up to the window without waiting in a really long line or making an appointment.

Piece of metal sticking out of the phone after battery replacement. None of the employees even noticed before returning it to me.

I dropped off my iPhone X for a battery replacement and when I got it back there was a big piece of metal sticking out of the top. It's not a good sign of the quality of this Apple store when neither the person performing the battery replacement nor the person who brought out the phone noticed this problem. They ended up swapping the phone they damaged with a refurbished one, which is not great since I don't know how the previous owner treated the phone (mine was pristine and had never been dropped). The most annoying part is none of the handful of Apple employees I dealt with during this ordeal apologized for wasting my time. I had to spend nearly three hours at the store and some more time at home restoring the software and settings onto the refurbished replacement.

Not sure why it is so difficult to get a Genius bar appointment. I suppose we all know why - Apple wants everyone to call over the phone to their call center so they don't need to hire support people for their stores. Store opens at 10 am. Arrived at 9:40 am and there was already a line of 10 people waiting. The only reason they have two stars is because there was actually an Apple store representative with an iPad taking names of people in line. Then the process was slow and painful. You can see employees standing around chit chatting with one another while customers are waiting. We are not talking technical chit chat. Personal chit chat such as "where did you go out last night" type questions. I guess it is okay to keep people waiting in line for hours - it might generate false demand for their products and services.

I made the HUGE MISTAKE of bringing my phone to their "genius bar" to replace the broken screen of an iPhone X. I left it there February 8th, they sent me a confirmation email saying "Estimated Pickup Time: Feb 14, 2020" I received a separate email from the Apple Repair Center with a link to check the status of the repair and a confirmation that they received the phone February 11th, since that day the status shows "Diagnosis in progress" (today is 02/25) I went to the store and nobody could tell me anything about my phone, they looked at each other like they had no clue about what is going on and they said they only knew the same thing I know when I check the link. Ridiculous!! I have called several times to the apple line and all I know is that they are diagnosing (the broken screen) and it can take until 11 business days. I am extremely frustrated and the only solution they offer is to keep waiting. What kind of shitty service is this? Save yourself the headache and never take anything to their stupid "genius bar"

Drove 45 minutes to only be told that they were out of stock. Did nothing to try and help me get a computer. So useless.

I pkaced my order at 3:24 PM and it was ready to be picked up my 3:34 PM! I headed over and when I arrived, I checked in on the app and it was updated with a button to indicate that I'm in line. We shopped for some phone accessories but didn't find anything we wanted. So we made our way to the pickup line. We were greeted immediately and I mentioned that I was picking up an order. The cashier scanned my phone and quickly pulled my order. I checked it and it was exactly what I ordered. The cashier said thanks for the order and we were on our way out. Overall, the service was the winner here. Staff was friendly and the item I purchased was $100 off where every other store I checked online had it for regular price. I highly recommend buying from this location as the staff is quick to gather your online order and they are very nice at this store.

I wanted to buy a new computer at a store, instead of online, so I could ensure a salesperson earns…read morea commission. The experience was not great, though there were some bright spots. I was initially directed to the Apple area. Two employees were working there with other customers - no problem. They disappeared after a bit, seemingly with those customers. About ten minutes of waiting later, hoping someone would be ready, I found both employees at the Microsoft area. No one had been available in the Apple area for that long - it seems understaffed. Someone in sales worked with me and was largely informative. The process wasn't inefficient; buying a new piece of technology takes time. Even so, it got a bit frustrating when two errors came up. First, upon transferring me over to the Geek Squad section, so I could have them transfer the data and assess the resale value, the first error came through: The transfer was said to be $40, but the woman at GS told him me was mistaken, and that it's $40 to transfer data between phones but $90 for computers to do so. I will give them credit for the high resale value of my old computer - Apple's online estimator gave me a paltry $35, whereas Best Buy assessed it to about $150. Still, the process of figuring out whether or not I could apply that directly to the bill, had to do a store credit, etc., was something the employees had to ask multiple other people about. It is OK to do that, of course, but it felt inefficient to this degree. As the GS employee looked through my computer, she mentioned that they'd have the new computer ready (with the data transfer) within 24-48 hours. I was very surprised! I politely mentioned that no one had told me that it would be an "overnight" thing - taking some time was anticipated, but overnight or even 2 days?! She was surprised I hadn't been told yet. Sales very much should've mentioned this, and there should be more coordination between teams. I wound up leaving it overnight, especially since my old computer already got the resale value assessed and needed to be there. It was ready pretty early the next day, which is good, but this was overall frustrating. Not as important, but they love to have 2-3 loud songs all playing at the same time. It is one thing to have different songs in different areas of a large store, but this was all quite close together, in terms of where the sound was coming from, and it was jarring and annoying. EDIT: I forgot to add...they have roving salespeople from AT&T who make eye contact with you while you're waiting around and then take advantage of your kindness. I find this process frustrating, similar to people with clipboards trying to get you to sign something. It is intrusive and tacky. I don't know why they allow this.
