Went yesterday to get my iPad camera fixed. It's clear at this juncture that Apple is only interested in selling products. Anything older than 2 years they don't fix under Applecare (unless you pay extra). Can't even order the part for someone else to fix it. They'll sell me a refurb for $387 though. Went to my local cell repair store and not only will they change the camera - they'll do it for $160. Yeah, I'm good on the Apple Store going forward. The service rep was nice and parking cost me $4 (mall). ** The store just called me next day (Mon, today 2/16). Unit is ready for pick up. Zero customer service, despite high-ticket purchases. I came to the Apple Store at Pentagon City to pick up an online order of over $4,000 worth of products. Naturally, I expected at least basic courtesy. Instead, the customer service was literally nonexistent. I was not even greeted or heard a "hello," no "please," no "thank you." The entire interaction consisted of three dry phrases: "You have your ID?" "What's your name?" "You're all set." That was it. It honestly felt like I was interrupting the staff from making on the floor sales or just being a bother. I wasn't looking for anyone to roll out a red carpet but I kind of expected a minimum level of professionalism and politeness, especially from a brand that supposedly prides itself on customer experience. Phone battery was replaced yesterday. Pickup was scheduled for late yesterday. I came to pickup today but had to be verified at an authorized alternate pick person. While I waited my wife attempted to call the store but the automated system kept bouncing her around with questions instead of connecting her direct with a manager. Had my son pick up his birthday gift at this store. Product specialist and manager were totally incompetent. First, they couldn't read the serial number on his trade-in watch. Everyone knows it's hard to read the serial # on black colored watches...use your iPhone flashlight and borrow magnifier from the Genius Bar. Ugh. Next, they had him un-pair his current watch for trade-in, but their device wouldn't accept the trade-in, saying the watch was still linked to his Apple Account. Went to iCloud.com/find to make sure watch was removed, and it was. They had him sit on the phone and wait for AppleCare support for 15 minutes. Thankfully he reached out to me, and I told him to power-off the watch, and it should re-set the Find My status (and that worked). What kind of Apple Store employee walks away from a customer without resolving a simple issue like this? And, the store was pretty much empty. To the employee who worked with my son... If this trade-in issue happens to another customer, TURN OFF THE DEVICE AND WAIT TWO MINUTES to see if you are able to process the trade-in. read more

I arrived here at 6:25 for a 6:45 appointment. I checked in and the gentleman asked me to sit at the table in the fat corner. There were other customers sitting at the table. I realized after sitting until 6:55. Nobody approached me and everyone at the table I was sitting with were completing their transactions and appointments. I asked one of the guys who walked past what was going on. He looked me up and said the guy cancelled my appointment by accident when I checked in. *slow blink and looks in the camera* So the guy was able to help me. He told me my screen separation wasn't included in my warranty. I said I didn't believe that was true. I've had my watch for less than a year. He did some more digging and I am covered. I sent my watch back and I asked for them to ship it to me, which is convenient. The Apple system has not updated and it just says my watch repair has been requested. It's said that for 3 days now. I went to Apple, I needed some new headphones (headsets whatever you want to call them). I was assisted by a member of there geek squad (if that's what you want to call it). He was very unhappy that I wanted to pay with Apple Pay. He was also unhappy I was paying with the new iPhone 16. Yeah, he didn't like that, he didn't like I had a better phone than him. He told me the AirPods Pro 2 were the latest headphones (headset whatever) but he was wrong there were another set that had just come out. Yeah, he didn't want me to have those. The store is situated in a mall. There is parking at the mall but it is paid parking, the store cannot validate. The parking isn't super expensive, but was an annoyance when I had to come here 3 times over the course of 3 days to try to get my phone sorted. I recently bought an iPhone 15 here and it wasn't working right. I came in to the store to have it checked out and was essentially told 'we can replace your phone but we can't guarantee that 15 won't have the same problem, since it's a known issue. Would recommend you get the 16'. So I got the 16 and had to come back after it was set up to return my 15. The staff here is very friendly but maybe not as knowledgeable as other Apple stores? I asked someone to walk me through the 16 so I could learn about my new phone and they walked me through the camera but that was it. I had to watch a YouTube video to learn about the other new features. A bit of a hassle but it is what it is. read more

I had some head phones that were defective and I didn't have the actual receipt from the initial purchase 4 months ago so he didn't want to take the time to even look into trying to find the information to trade them out for warranty . Lest I buy the wrong pencil I brought my iPad in and was first handed the empty floor model box before the employee went to the back to get me a non-empty box. Fearing I'd get an empty box anyway I suggested we open it together and the employee struggled to make the pencil stick magnetically but eventually it did. Sort of. An Apple Store is an Apple Store....same products, same inventory, same selection.....And, never no damn sales!! What's up with that!? Set aside....the cool location, a building with great architecture, over-sized mall location, or historical landmark that the Apple store may occupy....they are generally all the same. BUTTTTTT, what sets this store apart from all the others is the overall customer experience, service, and knowledgeable technical staff. This particular Apple Store is not my favorite of all the locations in the DC area but when in need of great technical advice or needing to get issues resolved with my apple products, I come here. Unfortunately, this location gets a bad rap because it is always flooded and chaotic with customers on most days. I think it is due to it being located in the popular Pentagon City Mall where it's always bombarded with tour buses full of touristS, high schoolers and the over-burdened passenger traffic due to it is metro-subway accessible to everyone. All of these aspects are both a good and bad thing. On one end, I can come to the mall and take care of shopping and apple issues all in one. On the other hand, depending on the day...there can be a bit of a wait for service. But in all, this is a great store and always has everything in stock to meet your apple needs. Eversince 2009, I have busted my pockets and Apple virginity....and brought my very first iPhone (3G) here close to ten years ago. And, ever since, from this exact same store....I have added additional iPhone upgrade purchases, a MacBook Pro and iPad Pro purchase, service repairs, Beats headphones and every accessory you can name to the list. Yes...I can admit....I have dranked the Apple "Kool-aid" and am in the entire Apple ecosystem at this point...that's for sure! No turning back now....LOL! This visit, I came in to upgrade to the new iPhone XS Max. I was able to get serviced quickly, without making an appointment as most location make you do. I walked in, was greeted, mentioned the reason for my visit.....and in less than an hour I was in & out with a brand new...car scent smelling iPhone! I can't remember the guy's name that assisted me, but he was outstanding...top-notch! I believe his name was Adrian but don't quote me by it. During the wait, I browsed around and played with every device in the store.....I tried to resist....but in the process I even upgraded my old iPad as well. Again, all within the hour...and walked out, happy of course! Spending your hard earn money....you expect at least good service and an acceptable customer experience. At this location, you get that for sure! No, it's not VIP treatment but it's efficient and bearable given the overwhelming flow of traffic this location gets. P.S. One of the craziest shopping experiences I've ever had. I came in to buy an iPhone 13 and pay in cash. Sales guy insisted on launching into a 30 minute inspirational sermon. I kept telling him I just wanted to buy the phone, but he kept going and going. I couldn't believe it. After the 4th time he tried to sell me AppleCare I said "can I please just pay for the phone?" He says "I don't like being interrupted" and storms off. WTF? The wait is awful. I don't understand why they had people waiting like that when it was so many apple associates just standing around. I was picking up my new phone that had to get replaced. The apple associate couldn't activate the phone. I was using a loaner phone that hardly worked because the phone wasn't compatible with my SIM card. The associate before giving me the phone she didn't even check it. An error message kept popping up so I had to keep turning the phone off and on to send messages. It was awful. After I wasn't able to get the phone activated at the store after waiting so long I had to go upstairs to T-Mobile and get the phone activated. I have mixed feelings about this place. On the one hand the repair - aka battery replacement took a lot longer than the quoted time - but on the other the customer service and communication was generally good. I just cant understand why it took over two hours to replace a phone battery. They seem to have plenty of staff on the floor; maybe they need more repair technicians in the back. The place is loud and very apple- there's a demo going on seemingly every hour, so many people, it's really a big headache waiting there. Glad I got my new battery but I'm not itching to go back there. Felt as painful as visiting the DMV. read more

Day one I walked into the store, and no one would even speak to me after 15 minutes I left Day two I scheduled an appointment at the earliest time which was at 5:45 at night. Got in there wouldn't let me check in... so, I got to stand in line twice to check in for "my time" then they had me go sit at the genius bar for about 15 more minutes. Then an angry and dispassionate woman came took my headphones, tested them, told me they were faulty, and that, even though my wife that bought the exact same model and got her for headphones replaced when they crapped out, mine were in eligible for replacement. On Monday, October 2, 2023 at 6:45pm EST, I visited the Apple Store in the Pentagon City Mall located in Arlington, Virginia. I was initially helped by a store representative who said technicians with the store could look into why my iPhone was not responding to the latest update or the 'restore' process from my home. I was told to return at 7:30pm for an appointment. I left my phone with the technician and exited the Apple Store at 6:45pm while I spoke on another phone. A person came up behind me trying to get my attention. I pointed my left index finger up and said, "Just a second" over my left shoulder as I continued my call. It was then I heard my phone striking the floor. I turned around quickly to see a man in an Apple shirt picking up my phone from the floor trying to hand it to me. This was the same phone I just left with the Apple technician. I saw my screen was cracked. I asked the man in the Apple shirt why he threw my phone on the mall floor. (I made this claim as my phone is uncased in a rubber protective shell and I have dropped previous iPhones, but this sound was more blunt and louder than a simple drop.) He repeatedly apologized and asked me to return to the store. I asked him to identify the store manager to which he claimed he was the manager and stated his name was either John or Jim. I asked for the name and telephone number of his supervisor to which he stated once again, that he was the store manager. I responded I understood what he said and demanded the name and telephone number of his superior to which he responded that I could call 1-800-MY-APPLE and refused to provide the name of his supervisor. At this time my arms were folded across my chest and we spoke in a conversational tone, though I was upset due to the damage caused to my phone. Then this Apple employee asked for my permission to leave our conversation, twice. I found this very strange and I'm still perplexed why I'd be asked that. Believing this person claiming to be the Pentagon City Store Manager was not acting in good faith and erratically, I chose to remain outside the store while I called the number provided. I hoped to meet with the man's supervisor, but the telephone number provided wasn't helpful. The customer service representative suggested I write an email to the above address in hopes of getting the issues corrected. While speaking to the representative over the phone I saw the man claiming to be the store manager speak to both of the off-duty Arlington County Sheriff's Deputies working, presumable store security, for Apple. One deputy approached me asking why I was stalking the store manager to which I stated I wasn't. (The Deputy's Body Warn Camera was taping so they should provide Apple with audio & video of our encounter.) Soon thereafter the deputy walked away from me. I proceeded to the mall security office adjacent to the food court and spoke with a contract security guard representing the mall. Since the damage to my phone took place in the mall, but not in the Apple Store I was given instructions on how security footage could be obtained. I would like the name of the man I spoke to in order to file a police report. Issue: A man claiming to be the Apple Store Manager damaged my iPhone. Location: 10 meters outside the Apple Store Pentagon City Date/Time: Monday, October 2, 2023 at 6:45pm EST If you'd like to file a complaint with Apple, you cannot to it yourself. I wanted to give the biggest shout out to Gabriel for being such a patient and accommodating employee. His main shift today was to ensure everyone was in the correct line (genius bar vs. reservations to check apple products). Not only was he trying everything to help my friend troubleshoot her phone, he was able to help us set up an appointment to see a genius bar employee. I would highly recommend Gabriel to work sales or even management if he doesn't already do so, because he was such a pleasure to talk to and was very informative and patient with my friend and I. Workers ago almost cost me $600 The only reason I came to this location was bc it was the only location with an appointment within the 6 stores located within a hour travel time of me. I had appointment, in which I arrived early for. I was informed at the start that they are running behind, but I was told I had to wait inside the store and could not leave without losing my place in line. (very unfortunate bc they do not have restrooms or beverages/snacks for purchase) The store requires mask, they will provide one if you do not have one. The mall does not require mask. I made eye contact with a genius that walked back and forth past me talking to other genius' a few times across the span of 5 minutes before I suppose he was finished his conversations and ready to help me. The first thing the 'genius' proceeded to do was search on google how to fix my device issue. This was a huge let down as he tried the same solutions I did at my home. The genius then immediately said my device is unrepairable without a costly replacement. I proceeded to ask if there was anything else that could be done and the genius stated "I am the genius". I brought up a cable that can be disconnected and reconnected which the 'genius' told me did not exist. Then after a few moments of persistently asking the genius he finally offered to go to the back to consult with others, in which the genius returns saying there indeed IS a cable that can be disconnected and reconnected to work. A workers ego almost cost me $600. I have never experienced this at other Apple locations. Steer clear of this store. read more

Hello Recently I went into the APPLE Store at the Pentagon City Mall and bought a new phone at the APPLE store in Pentagon City Mall. This is only my experience that day! At first, I got a friendly greeting and got referred to the sales counter and bought and paid all costs for a new phone. The salesman hooked me up with a new case charger and protector who assimilated my account with T Mobile. I thought this is really great service. Then I was taken over to a counter to get my phone activated. It was not the same gracious and professional process I was used to. My salesman said he was going to lunch and others would come help me. Here's the problem. Nobody came over to assist me. I had to keep excusing myself and ask if some is free and going to come by to help me. I was told that I wasn't the only customer and I totally get that. I also learned that setting up a new phone is self service. I totally get that too. If the fellow who went to lunch told me what to do, then there would have never been any misunderstandings. I asked again and again for help over and over. It seems that I was a bother to them. I was asking politely. I even asked a lady if she was busy and she said what do you need and I asked again are you busy and that seemed to annoy her. All of this gave me a bad look with the associates and the company there. I was told that I was rude. Eventually I got hooked up. I walked out of the store to find a chair and be quiet to get my apps working. I came back in to ask a simple question. I was told to go online to chat an online Apple chat room for the problem that I'm having. I asked to speak to a sales desk which seems to be the catch 22 at Apple stores. Immediately I was confronted by someone who said was a manager and observed me at the table with their technicians who got a complaint from the girl who I previously asked if you're busy. He said I was rude and demanding. This hard ball observation is what they all say to a difficult customer instead of simply asking how can I assist you. Just simply help the customer instead of the argumentative chit chat. All I wanted to to that day is come into an apple store pay for a phone, get hooked up with my phone and plan, and then go home. I needed to get my iPad keyboard replaced, so I made a Genius Bar appointment online a few days in advance. There was ample parking in the mall parking structure. When I got to the Apple Store, I waited at the Genius Bar section for a few minutes before my appointment time. This Apple store was just like any other Apple store, so I'm not going to go into the atmosphere, vibe, etc. I was seen by one of the staff members around the time of my appointment. My iPad and keyboard were at this point almost three years old, so I was fully expecting to have to pay full price for a replacement keyboard. However, the guy that was helping me ended up replacing the keyboard free of charge! Now of course I don't know if that's because there weren't any obvious signs of damage to my keyboard that just suddenly stopped working, but I was pleasantly surprised by that. Overall, the staff members at the Apple store were very helpful and punctual when it came to my appointment. All of my questions were answered, and I would do business again at this location should I need to purchase another Apple product. read more

As much as I dread heading to any Apple store, I cracked my screen and knew the inevitable was unavoidable. Luckily, I had Apple Care so I knew the costs would be minimal. However, it was the long wait times, potential indifference towards customer service and the fear that they would not be able to accommodate my needs that gave me a little anxiety, and a little tendency to procrastinate the fix. I dropped by on a Tuesday evening, after 6:30pm not knowing how the after-work, holiday season mall crowd would look like. While the mall wasn't at all overwhelming, at the time I arrived there was already a line out of the store just to get an appointment. Once again, luck was on my side and that semi-daunting line actually moved really quickly (only waited for about 5-7 mins) before someone was able to help me. My screen was pretty much shattered from top to bottom, so I was worried that by 7pm, it would be hard to guarantee a repair before closing time without a previous appointment set up. So thankful that I was in the good hands of Tariq (sp?) that understood my slight urgency on the repair, and was able to get me in as the last repair for the evening. He was attentive, professional and funny, providing me with other helpful information to know that will help the longevity of my iPhone. When I came back to pick up my phone, Tariq and the rest of the staff were still in great spirits (despite what I'd imagine to be a long and busy day) and my replacement phone was ready in just 10 minutes after I arrived. So glad that I decided to come here instead of the Georgetown location. From here on out, that will be my move whenever I have any Apple needs. read more

My apple iPhone stopped working. Made appointment with Genius Bar. They checked it, connected the phone to their computer. First told me it might need update. They hooked up my phone to their computer, It showed a failed error. Then they said it needs reboot loosing all data on the phone. I agreed. They started the reboot process, to make the phone operational. Their computer gave another error message. They said the phone is useless and I have to get a new one, and recommended me to get apple iPhone 13 for over $1,000.00. It sounded very fishy to me. I took the phone to a phone repair kiosk in the middle of the mall. In couple of hours with a fraction of the fee they repaired my phone. Shame on you Apple Store, Shame on you. read more

Don't believe the Apple hype about the new high density impact resistant screen...it's bogus empty marketing. I had my beautiful new 2 day old phone in my pocket when I sat down to tie my shoes, bent over, and it fell out of my pocket to the floor. C r a c k e d... Honeymoon over... Called Apple. Sorry, not sorry, $275 plus tax to replace screen and oh, by the way, your warranty is now compromised. The highly vaunted new ceramic break-resistant glass is well...not so much. The rep asked me did I have a cover on it? Nope... He advised to ALWAYS buy a cover. Did I have AppleCare? Nope. Didn't think I needed it with the impressive new screen on the 12. Note to self: always buy the insurance. So, its off to Apple I go. Disappointed, yes. A little pissed at my clumsiness? Yep. Surprised that Apple hyped a new screen and walked me out on thin ice? They need to hire a greeter because when you walk in it's just absolute chaos. Don't lie to me. Don't stand there & spout out what little you know about a product when none of that answers my question, just so you can fill the space. If you do not your product, then just confess that you do not know. Say the words "I don't know". You're welcome to follow that up with a commitment to find out tho.
