I was back in Philly for work and wanted to check out a breakfast/brunch spot that I used to love. Unfortunately, things were different this time. FOOD: The breakfast burrito was not good at all. They put huge chunks of raw onions and green peppers in it. I had to pick them all out. They should cut them small and at minimum sweat them down a little. Those are 2 products that should be used sparingly due to their powerful flavor. It was also supposed to have bacon in it, but there were only a few teeny tiny pieces in it. By "few" I mean like 4 bacon bits in the entire burrito. Based on the size and the taste, I think they actually used a jar of those little red salad dressing isle bacon bits. I have a good palate and struggled to even taste the bacon. I even pulled 1 of the 4 bacon bits out and ate it on its own & it tasted like nothing. Unknown if that was because it was so small or because it wasn't real bacon. SERVICE: They sat me at the bar, but I didn't get a server to come greet me for almost 10 minutes. But I do acknowledge it was very very busy so I wasn't too concerned. ** I probably just ordered the wrong menu item. I do not recommend the cowboy burrito. However 9 of the 10 times I've dined there it was a good experience. The place was packed on a Wednesday morning. Love this place for breakfast. Have been here a few times and it's always been great food, served quickly, for a great price. I have two grown sons, but when my wife and I go in I always comment, the boys would love this, meaning back when they were teenagers. Huge pancakes with fun toppings and recipes. I kept hearing about this place for the past few years and so I finally tried it on a Friday morning at 9 AM with my friend. I recommend it highly! Everyone was super friendly and nice and service was quick. I didn't really test them out very well because I just had scrambled eggs with turkey sausage and home fries and I didn't try any of their delicacies like pancakes, French toast, etc.. But the eggs and potatoes were great. Their Coffee was great which is very important to me. They give you a small bite of their famous apple cake. Excellent - moist cinnamon delight. You can wander a few stores down to their market and buy their cakes, cookies, salads, hot food. When we left, there was a line waiting to get in!! A local hot spot for sure. read more

Wonderful restaurant!! Good selection of gluten free options. My daughter got the florentine crepe; she said it was heavenly. My husband got a scramble bowl and loved it. Mother-in-law got the quiche with side of beef soup. She said it was the best quiche she'd ever eaten and soup was delicious. My other daughter got hard boiled eggs and bacon - they were cooked perfectly. I had eggs Benedict on gluten free bread - just wonderful! Definitely recommend this cafe! Wish we had it close to our house! We are from out of state! And definitely go to their bakery a few doors down to buy some of the apple cake that they give us as an appetizer. Food is fabulous especially their if you want more than three things in your omelette egg bowls Great price for good quantity for the money you get your meat potatoes, toast, eggs, and vegetables and cheese. Met a friend for breakfast as Apple Walnut Cafe was halfway between where I live and Swarthmore. It's a super cute diner-like atmosphere with very friendly wait staff and an extensive menu with all kinds of eggs, french toast, pancakes, and lots more. I enjoyed my blueberry pancakes and my friend enjoyed his eggs. It's a solid choice for breakfast and I look forward to trying other items on their menu in the future! read more

I ordered catering for a party. The day before the party, there was a surprise forecast for snow that night. Judy (maybe the owner?) called me to ask if I was considering cancelling. I feel really bad because I gave her a hard time - a bunch of people were already at my house for the weekend and I couldn't cancel. She was very gracious despite my attitude, and promised to have my order ready no matter the weather. Turns out all her other catering customers cancelled and she never even opened the store because nobody was going to go out for breakfast in that weather. We stopped in for lunch on Juneteenth. It was very crowded. We were able to sit at the counter because the wait for a table was long. Even though we were sitting at the counter, the waitress seemed not to see us. We eventually placed our orders. The food was ok. They have Pepsi products. There is parking in the lot of the strip mall. It was ok. I'm guessing that many people like it based on the line of people waiting to get in. read more

Let's start by saying I'm disappointed in myself because I hadn't found this spot sooner. It's tucked in a little strip mall in Broomall. The inside is clean and tables spaced out well. The staff we interacted with was attentive, and pleasant. Now the food...first let me apologize I dug in before taking a picture. Next time I visit I'll have one for you. Upon entry you see a small display case with baked goods. Once you're seated they give you a sampling of their Jewish Apple Cake. It definitely starts you off on a good note. There's a variety of options to choose from on the menu. Baked goods (sticky buns, pound cake, Jewish apple cake) transformed into French toast, hot cakes, eggs, lunch items. I chose the French Toast sampler and substituted the stuffed French toast for the cinnamon raisin. The cinnamon raisin was my favorite followed by the pound cake French toast which for me was more like a dessert, flavorful and moist. The banana French toast was ok. If you get the granola banana and toast it's better. And to make my first experience even better. Our waitress was a sweetheart. Before leaving she gave my son a free cupcake since it was our first visit. I definitely recommend this business. The wait time is short and the food is worth it. read more

Different cheesesteak item #1069 in the last five years. If I wake up with a real nice girl and want to take her to breakfast and tell her some pretty little lies, this is the spot. They were nice enough to make me the cheesesteak omelet on a roll. I didn't like $14 but it did come with very tasty home fries. 10:30 am on a wednesday and they were busy. It was very well made. I ordered the sticky bun French toast I was highly disappointed instantly. I honestly think and wholeheartedly believe that they just warmed up a sticky bun, cut it in half and put caramel on it with nuts and raisins. There's nothing French toast about it. I thought it was going to be dipped in the french toast mix it definitely wasn't. It was just a warm sticky bun. I didn't even eat it, but didn't complain because it was Father's Day and I didn't want to ruin the hubby's morning out . Also, it said that there would be powdered sugar on it. It looks like they ran out of powdered sugar because what am I seeing here you have to really look hard at it to even notice that they put powdered sugar on it. Such a waste of money I felt terrible for picking this place for Father's Day breakfast. The waitress was the only decent part of our experience except they gave us a small four person table when we had five people and then we had a large table behind us with at least three kids on iPads on full blast so the whole time we're eating all you hear is their iPads and the mom saying over and over turn your iPad down . I hate to do it, but I'm afraid I can only give them three stars based on the two visits I've made so far. The first time was great with a server who clearly wanted to make my husband's and my first time a good experience. The food was plentiful and tasty, and we enjoyed our trip to this sweet, pretty,place. Our next visit, however, wasn't as good. I thought the slow service might have been based on how busy they were until I realized that almost every table had already been served. I believe there was only one other table that have their food. Our server checked on the table next to us, but I guess it was up to us to flag her down if we needed anything. I don't have a menu in front of me, but I really thought the eggs I ordered were supposed to have red peppers in them. It had green peppers, and too many of them. I don't remember what my husband ordered, but it didn't stand out and I'm not sure that it was prepared correctly, either. We definitely want to give them another try, although we don't really have a lot of use for places that aren't open for dinner. I'm particularly interested in trying the prepared food in their little market that is in the same shopping center. Attractive place that can get a little noisy when it's crowded. read more

Hidden little neighborhood gem with great food. I am not typically a stuffed french toast person, but glad I tried the Apple Walnut French Toast with Walnut Cream Cheese stuffing. Slightly sweet and savory if you omit the syrup, which is how I like it. Asked for the "bold" coffee and they insisted on brewing me a new batch. Super friendly staff. Food is very good here I got the tomato and cream cheese omelette and it was fantastic the best part was that the omelette was not brown or over cooked on the outside side. The home fries they use the red potatoes with onion. Really good. My wife got two eggs over medium, scrapple, home fries and toast. All were fantastic. Service was very good and the place is a nice size From the outside it does not look as big. The only thing is it's a little pricy but when the food is good you don't mind too much. I had an enjoyable lunch here! I ordered the pancakes and hot chocolate. The pancakes were good but the hot chocolate just tasted like a regular powder mix added to water. The service was great. The waitress was super friendly and attentive, checking in frequently. We apologized for having a couple of people from the group not yet there and she said it was no problem but would still take our drink order just to get us started so we didn't have to wait. When everyone was there and ready to order, she was very helpful! One person asked for a side of potato pancakes for the table and the waitress recommended instead to get the potato pancake sticks which are better for sharing (and very tasty, it was a great recommendation). If you have any choice in seating, avoid tables near the door in the winter time. Two people from the group I dined with were already seated at a table in the corner near the door when I got there and it was freezing when people would open the door. Not that big of a deal as you can just keep your jacket on or something, but I personally would rather sit elsewhere if I return. There were a lot of other menu items that seem great and I am looking forward to trying them if I'm in the area again. read more
