One of the Biggest and best breakfasts in Delco. Inexpensive, huge portions, owner always on site. Good teamwork between the grill and waitstaff. And Clean! Their menu offers various freshly-squeezed juices (lemon iced tea, orange juice, lemonade), eggs (that are served with potatoes and toast), omelets, pancakes, French toast, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, hoagies and sandwiches, and Chinese fare (such as mei fun, lo mein, fried rice, and dumplings). We came here for brunch, and we ordered: +French toast - these were actually pretty tasty; came with sliced bananas and a large cup of syrup, the French toast were prepared well with a slight crispy exterior +a cheese omelet - super fluffy and filled generously with cheese, the hubs enjoyed this; this also came with a side of homefries, which were large chunks of steamed then grilled potatoes with peppers +chicken fried rice - this was just okay; wished they just had regular soy sauce and chili oil, as only dumpling sauce was offered +fried dumplings - filled with chicken, these were overly fried and the taste was just not good +orange juice - good juice, but could have been served cold The place seems like a favorite spot for locals, and there were a good number of parties already dining in. Once I walked in and they said, "cash only" I knew it was gonna be a great food experience! I didn't have enough cash for their half & half but that sandwich was too good! Got my food pretty fast, the cooks and waitress were great as well. Nice little dining room area, well kept and would recommend anyone to visit. read more

We've all had pretty crazy nights, maybe had a little too much to drink, came home too late, and woke up feeling not the greatest. That was me this morning! I needed a little pick-me-up so I stopped by Ming's for breakfast to-go. I ordered steamed dumplings and the ham and cheese omelette (which comes with breakfast potatoes and toast but I chose to skip out on toast). I also ordered their iced coffee with cream and sugar. Everything came out to $20 which isn't too bad. Their coffee was a bit too sweet for me, so maybe next time I'll skip on the sugar. Their steamed dumplings are so good and the dumpling sauce (a blend of vinegar and soy sauce) really made my morning! Ham and cheese omelette was hearty and what I expect all omelettes to be. Potatoes were great and I love that they add scallions on top (my favorite vegetable). Overall, pretty solid food. I can't wait to try other things on their menu. As I'm eating here today, I had one simple thought. Why didn't I come here sooner in my life? Simply put, I judge breakfast places often by how well made the simplest items are done. For instance, I can tell a lot about your place by how good the French Toast is. Something like that tells me how much pride you take in quality. Are you just slapping it together or do you take care to make sure it's perfect? This is definitely the place that takes extra care. Look at the picture and you tell me. In my mind, this is perfect French Toast. Plus, the iced coffee was so tasty I got a second d one for the road. They tell me it's just as simple as grinding the beans yourself every day. Yep. We went around 9:30 on a Thursday so it was not busy. We could sit wherever we pleased and after ordering, our food was out in 5-10 minutes (so I would definitely recommend it for someone who's in a rush or wants a quick but filling breakfast). Their egg meals come with 2 slices of toast and a large portion of potatoes.I got 2 scrambled eggs and rye toast for $5.25, and my boyfriend got the crisp bacon and scrambled eggs with white toast for $7.25. I don't think the bacon was worth the extra $2, but the prices in general are very affordable.  For anyone who likes their coffee on the sweeter side, I'd recommend the ice coffee with sugar and milk! It was the perfect morning pick-me-up for only $2. The hours for the place were a little confusing. I finally had the chance to experience Ming's for breakfast, seeing I am always at another location. Nice little spot to enjoy a pretty good meal, that was somewhat packed. I was suprised to see this place was somewhat packed during the week, in the summer no less. I could only imagine what kind of mayhem is unleashed during the weekends with the limited seating . I ordered the pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs and ham for my breakfast. One thing I will say is this, they covered my whole plate! Great googly moogly (snickers commercial ) they are no joke with this. I've heard the tales and the rumors of Ming's being plate fillers. The rumors are true I tell you, my pancakes that I had ordered were GINORMOUS. It is so big that they had to fold part of it to fit onto my plate, this is so the scrambled eggs and complimentary sliced bananas could fit. The pancakes were good, not too fluffy though, not that this bothered me. The eggs I had were scrambled with cheese (my choice) they were ok, a little runny, but still were good. Gotta love it when you see Sriracha on the table waiting for you to go crazy with it! My last and final side was a slice of ham I opted for. This too is not small, a nice thick cut that came off the grill. Service was fast and friendly, so the wait time is barely there. I am assuming this is this way they run things, due to the lack of seating. The place is clean and bright, but you would think different from the outside looking in. Parking can be tricky, there is metered parking along the street , but do not park in the lot next to Ming's. This is reserved for the Rite Aid customers, you will get towed. In all a nice little spot to get a pretty descent meal , better yet a filling meal to say. I'd gladly come back to peruse their menu some more. read more

A decent place to get Breakfast! This dive in Drexel Hill is a very clean restaurant. Just make sure you arrive early on the weekends, It can get quite busy especially on Sundays after Church. I have eaten here twice now because I had cash readily available. I hardly carry cash, it's plastic for this patron. The coffee was piping hot and it didn't take the food long to arrive after we ordered. The French toast was okay I was just expecting 3 pieces. Especially after I saw the pancakes They are HUGE, they take up the whole plate. Bacon was very crispy. Sampled the wife's hash browns, they were okay as well. They were browned and scattered with scallions. Just wished for maybe some peppers and a little paprika. All beverages are served in plastic cups. I guess to keep the dish washing to a minimum. Have also had the eggs which were good as well. So if you are in the area and looking for a tasty breakfast give Ming's a try, you will not be disappointed. The food was good; typical, but fresh breakfast foods. Seating looked limites, as it's a small mom and pop shop. I called in my order, and it was ready by the time I arrived (about 15 minutes). AMAZING! I had to make my return special. I live a couple blocks from Mings and its really the only place I eat breakfast at. Its a little corner shop has a good amount of tables and space. The food is remarkable fam. They have the best home fries on the planet. French toast is fire as well family. The food comes out very fast. Since they feed so much they have a-lot of stuff pre-made but your eggs, pancakes etc comes out fresh. They do have lunch as well but if they're busy with breakfast they either wont make it or you have to wait awhile. The ONLY downside is they close randomly. And I mean RANDOMLY. Don't judge the outside, this place looks like a dive with the peeling sign. The food is plentiful and very delicious. We ate omelettes, French toast and bacon. The server was friendly, it was fast. The bathrooms were clean. We stayed at the holiday inn nearby (I do not recommend it) and I am so glad we did not pay for their expensive breakfast because this place was a treat. I've always order take-out when ordering from this establishment. The pancakes are very huge and fluffy with a nice and light buttery taste. The mushroom and cheese omelette is good too. The French toast is very delightful. Their home-fries are to die for. I don't know what's in it except for deliciousness and topped with diced scallions which gives it an eye rolling behind your head experience. YUM! I have been a patron of Ming's for years. I've noticed that each time I order the same meal I get charged a different price each time. I went in Mings today and with a friend. I received a thimble full of eggs while my friend received an enormous portion. When I went up to pay the cashier asked if I was paying together and rang up $24 for two platters. I then said that we were paying separately. I was charged $11.65 for my minuscule portion and my friend was charged $10.00 for his. I have been experiencing this for years but haven't said anything. Today was the last straw. Also, another pattern is that she reuses the tea leaves. I pay for a fresh cup but receive a cup derived from the refuse of tea she sold earlier. BEWARE read more

Are you looking for breakfast? Well you've found the only place worth eating at in the area. Ming's is consistently good. Pancakes, French toast, omelettes, home fries, were all fresh and tasty. The house made orange juice is so delicious. It's phenomenal. I would go here just for the juice. The ladies that run this place are so sweet. I've gotten takeout a million times and dined in. I've watched them treat their customers like family. The plates of food are huge! In most cases, it's enough to share. You won't need a microscope to see the meal on your plate here unlike other breakfast places in the area. There is a 90's vibe inside. I'm a 90's child so I find the vibe nostalgic. I'd much rather dine at Ming's in the 90's eating good food than in 2013 with Sabrina's nasty food and disappointing lemonade in a blue mason jar. Ok so the french toast is amazing. The pancakes were pretty good (they are huge) but not as good as the french toast. Potatoes as others have said were really good. They also scramble a good egg and know what over-medium means. Coffee--not a fan. Plus it's served so ridiculously hot that it takes my entire meal to actually become drinkable. Pass. Everyone works together to keep things moving. Ming's coffee is the best French Roast I've ever tasted -- and I'm not a fan of dark roasted coffees, especially in the morning. It's hard to know if all of her coffees are the product of a hand-press, but that's how every cup tastes. Never had a single cup delivered to our table which tasted stale, overbrewed or bitter. Pancakes are huge, Potatoes with the Breakfast Menu were more than enough for the heartiest of appetites, there was a little serving of bananas with my Pancakes. My Wife's Ham and Cheese Omelet would have been enough, HOLD those Potatoes. The down side; Cappuccino had to have been pre-made and not with an Espresso Machine. On the very, plus side, the Orange Juice WAS Freshly Squeezed and with all the Pulp i wanted. They had just opened, on a Sunday Morning, the Crowds that overwhelm the place must have been on their way, because we had a nice, quiet breakfast. Very confused by the 4 star ratings? At best..this place is 2 stars and that's mostly because it's cheap! I think most of the positive ratings are due to limited options in the area for a place to sit down and have breakfast. Food really isn't good. Veggie Omelette was runny....sort of burned on edges, too large and not really folded/presented as an omelette. Potatoes came in huge chunks and had a smell and taste like Chinese takeout. I'm guessing it's because they use the same grill to cook the more traditional Chinese items on the menu (I.e shrimp fried rice..etc)..so potatoes pick up that flavor. So there used to be a time when I would wake up on a Sunday morning and say, "Boy, I wish I could wait in line for an hour and then eat an amazing breakfast!" This thought process treated me well and afforded me many a great breakfast at the Morning Glory, Sabrina's, the Griddle (LA), Jinky's (LA) or the Home Plate (SF). Those really were the days. I wish I could say that I gave that up because I just don't have the time anymore, but that's not true. I could still easily wait an hour to have breakfast on a weekend. The only issue is that boredom has started to set in. I realized that I could be spending that hour reliving the adventures of Ponce De Leon with the hope that a great breakfast will await me in the end. The new mission: find great breakfast joints that are way off the beaten path. Now of course, I know that I can't expect to have La Colombe coffee, a frittata with salmon, asparagus and goat cheese all the while not having to endure long wait times. Instead, I am in search of atmosphere. Places that feel a bit more real than a bunch of yuppies waiting in line at the awesome breakfast shop that all of their friends had been talking about. Based on a tip from a good friend, we decided to check out Ming Coffee Shop. Located out in beautiful Drexel Hill, just next to the Rite Aid. Ming Coffee Shop does a great breakfast business. The have all of the classic offerings (omelets, pancakes, french toast, eggs..), nothing too fancy. Feeling a bit under the weather, I started with a hot tea. Usually when I order tea, I get a tea bag and some hot water. Today however, that was not the case. Just like restaurants brew coffee, they had already brewed the tea. Personally, I like that much better. For breakfast, I got the cheese omelet. It came with toast and home fries. Everything tasted great and the price was around $4.50. Now the true pleasure in Ming Coffee Shop is the atmosphere. We were seated at a long Rubbermaid folding table. Behind us was a large table filled with a basketball team. Apparently they were pretty popular because lots of patrons would go back and talk to them and wish them luck with their next win. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. All in all it was a pretty good experience. As for the the three stars: I'm glad that I had the opportunity to experience Ming Coffee Shop. If I'm in Drexel Hill and looking for a place to eat, I will probably stop by. Otherwise, I feel like I've been there and done that and need to continue my explorations. read more

A hidden, local, favorite. At Ming's, not only do you get great food, but a lot of personality when you have the chance to know Ming, herself. Some of the regulars do, and I've seen her whack an old man in the head with a newspaper if she's feeling ornery. (Of course, this old man loved it and like many of the every day regulars, comes for Ming's antics.) On the weekend, the place is jumping for breakfast. Highlights are the pancakes (I don't even like pancakes normally, but these are SO GOOD), the french toast (extra sugary), and all the breakfast sandwiches (bacon, egg & cheese, scrapple egg & cheese, etc). I definitely recommend a side of home fries and an extra large coffee or tea with any choice. If you're a tea fanatic, Ming's has a good selection of exotic ones that she puts straight into hot water and strains into a paper cup. In the case of the Asian food on the menu, you can't go wrong with any of it, especially the mei fun with shrimp, which is my personal favorite. There are only two downsides to Ming's. 1) Sometimes there's a little wait on service. However, once you order, it comes out fast. and 2) The servers are young high school girls who really could smile more. Altogether, GO HERE for breakfast and thank me later. read more

Mings is totally awesome! It's a hole in the wall in Drexel Hill full of charm, character and delicious food. I came here craving a hearty and tasty breakfast with my sister and brother on Sunday brunch and was pleased with the short wait. Once sat we started with really good coffee and fresh squeezed juice- what could be better?? Shortly after we ordered breakfast (all different variations of the standard 2 eggs, meat, toast, potatoes etc...) and it came out super fast. I don't know what part was best, I think each food is tied for 1st place. The bacon was crisp, the eggs were flavorful and the potatoes the best I've had in a while. I will absolutely be back to Mings and suggest everyone else try it too. But not so many that I can't get a seat! read more
