So very disappointed. Ordered carside to go, my son's food was cold. My food seemed slightly warm but I still had to warm it up at home, and we live 2 min from the restaurant so it obviously wasn't even warmed up fully. I also shouldn't have to mix chocolate milk that I order myself. It was basically just milk with syrup at the bottom- not mixed. My daughters apple slices still had the sticker on them. I wish they'd actually rinse the fruit and take the sticker off before slicing! Put some effort in people!! Slow service. The place is not even busy and they take extremely long to acknowledge our existence. Been here many times before and will never come back. It's declined more and more over time. This was our first time at this location. Server was okay. We ordered two appetizers and they were brought out at different times which was kind of upsetting. We ordered two steaks both medium rare but they seemed like they were well done other then the middle of the steak it was a little pink. This place is always hit and miss. Sometimes when we go, the food is great. Other times, not so much. Tonight was our last visit, though. The fish literally left a pool of grease on the plate. We ordered two appetizers and entrees for our family. We had a long wait for dinner, and then they brought our appetizers and dinner at the same time. Super disappointed again. This was the 4th time we have been there and no Coors Light. First 3 times they hadn't ordered enough. last night, the line was plugged on the keg and no one knew how to fix it. I was served cold red wine. Gross! We have stopped going to Applebee's in Merced, and while in the area, thought we would give this one a try. Much much better. Service was still so so, it was not crowded at lunch on a Saturday (not a good sign) but I almost hooted out loud when I saw they have a standard everyday salad now. My burger was not bad at all, and cooked properly, just cold by the time they brought me mayonnaise. My daughter ordered the mac and cheese, it was so weird, (and sweet!?!)and awful she did not eat it. I am not sure what they call cheese there, but it wasn't what we expected. read more

The food was good but you can tell the cooks are the problem. Double date night. 2 plates came at a reasonable time, 3rd plate, 5 minutes after and the last plate, 10 minutes after that. So, the people with the first plates were done eating when the last plate got to the table. 3 mozzarella sticks where left when we finally got the ranch for the appetizer. I came here last night with girlfriends. We were placed in the back corner of the restaurant. I felt like our waitress forgotten about us. She took forever to come and get our food order in. We had to wave another waiter to get our waitress to take our order. Also she never came back to take our cards or to check if we needed help to pay with the tablet thing they had on the table. We waited for her to come by our table after she drop off our tab so we can ask questions on how to pay for it since there was five of us and we were splitting the tab. We waited for at least 30 mins before we just finally decided to go to the bar to have it closed out there. read more

We got here at 6:45pm on a Friday night, completely understand the rush. Ordered at 6:50pm, got everything an hour later. It is now 8:20pm, I'm still waiting for my drink the server took at 8:00pm. We arrived on a Tuesday around 5pm. It wasn't that busy, but it took about 20 minutes to be seated. The hostess wasn't friendly and seemed like she didn't want to be working and hated her job. Once we were seated we had a very nice waiter (I forgot his name). But it took forever to place our order and get our refills. When we finally placed our order my BF wanted grilled chicken instead of crusted chicken. Then a manager came out and told us that couldn't happen. Lol. Seriously?!! I give up on this Applebee's after three tries. Every other Applebee's I've gone to, they serve their dinner salad on a white plate with green trim and it's a decent salad. This one serves it on a white dish that is not even flat...it's raised on both sides so when you stab your fork to get some salad, the plate's edge flips up and our entire dinner party practically lost their salads. I gave it a try another time thinking maybe they were out of their usual salad plates but the same uneven plates arrived again. The portion is a joke compared to other Applebee's. Each time I've gone, the hostess appears completely confused on seating placement. She disappeared one time and we sat for nearly 15 minutes with no water and no menus. I was ready to walk out. We flagged someone else down and she was "Sure, no problem. I'll be right back with water and menus." She walked straight over to the bar and started chatting up the bartender, laughing and joking until we were all ready to explode with anger. She disappeared and never returned. Here's the thing that pissed me off the most. I took my elderly parents there and my dad is legally blind. He said the raspberry tea he usually has tasted very weak. I asked the waitress if we could have new tea and instead of giving him new tea, she came back with a little tub of syrup and set it on the table and just left! What the heck did she just leave us?! I've never seen syrup go in tea but apparently this is the raspberry flavoring they put in regular tea. The awful meal was over (cold, small portions, lousy service) and the check arrived. The waitress put it in front of my dad (assuming, I guess, the only male at a table should be the one to pay) and I said, "I can take that...he can't see." She said "Oh, we have a card swiper right here at the table. He can do it, it's easy." Ummm...hey girl, HE'S BLIND! She proceeds to pull the electronic thing in front of my dad's face and asked him for his card. And then what? She's going to ask him out loud for his pin number? WTF!!! I'm done with this place. Done. Done. Done. Never coming back not even if someone else wants to treat. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra bit to Merced or Turlock. This place needs to go under and change out to a restaurant that's actually good and has decent staff. read more

Not thoroughly impressed. Doesn't seem very organized. Both times I went I sat in the bar area (not bar top) and it took extremely long to get our drinks(20 min to get a beer is long to me). I was then told by the server "our bartenders are really slow right now" ... That's awkward. And they had 3 bar tenders? Most places only have 1 and still get them out sooner. I work in a restaurant and totally understand the ins and outs, and was still polite and asked again for our things. Our food ended up coming out before we got our beers. Over all the experiences have been awful. I've heard of 2 people quitting already because of the un-organization My suggestion? If you want to last more than a few years in the 209 then get faster servers and a better system. Or account for more server hours and less hospitality hours. read more

Terrible service. Our waitress was an older female who obviously didn't like her job. Not once did she come to ask if we needed any condiments or refills on drinks while we hear and watch the other waiter on the other side of us go by his tables at least 4-5 times checking on his patrons. Would have awarded it zero stars but I guess I'm required to give it something. Walked in with the grandkids around 4:30 on a Sunday afternoon. Maybe 6 - 9 other patrons in the establishment. Placed our orders and a few minutes later (reasonable time) a person, not our waitress, brought out my grandson's entree - chicken strips & fries. He had ordered Ranch dressing but was given some kind of honey mustard. We had both ordered soup but that was no where to be seen. A couple of minutes later, the original waitress brings out our soups and when I question her on the entree being delivered before the soup, she states she can take it back & keep it warm. When I question her as to why the entrees were not brought out at the same time, she looks at me as if to say "huh?" Five minutes later, my granddaughters salad was delivered and five minutes after that, here comes my steak. It was the first time I had been here since they opened a couple of years ago & I had high expectations. They were not met. Please close Atwater Applebee's. If a minus star was available that's what this place would rate, as far as service goes. To start, wait times for drinks were more than 20 min during non happy hour & non peak times. My group orders the sampler to start & never gets utensils,even after repeatedly asking. The grand finale was the raw boneless chicken wings & the waitress' comment, "...is that shrimp...you can only get salmonella if the chicken is a carrier..." Who says that ? The manager came out. His name was Rick and he was the most unprofessional man I have ever met. He blamed the staff and how they have to iron out the kinks.
