Always liked this restaurant for decent dinners, so when we recently stopped in we were quite surprised to see a burger special. (Have never tried their burgers). A nice selection at realistic prices. Everything was very good. A week later & the specials were gone, as well as the selection. BUMMER! All restaurants get carried away with the cost of hamburgers, but at least keep the selection. It's only the toppings that changed. I'll keep this place on the back burner. read more

Somehow, today it wasn't as good as usual. Met-up with a Friend who I haven't see in quite a while so would NOT complain while there. The riblets were way over-cooked and our waitress never gave us her name. She was pleasant and perky . The drink I had (long Island iced tea/ top shelf) was unusually lacking, watery to say the least...not pleasant. When I got the bill, I paid in cash and the young Lady said she'd be back with change....which I said not necessary. Therefore she didn't come back at all. I never got my receipt! Came here on a Friday night with the kids, there was a 30 min wait which we didn't mine cause it was half off appetizers, I had the best waitress, her name was Melissa, remembered all of our orders like it was nothing, remind u, it was very busy and i had 6 people. I really thought Applebee's was making a comeback with their improved menu. I have eaten there more often and we enjoy their burgers. This is the third time I got their quesadilla Burger. I liked it the first 2 times but whoever made it this time didn't taste as good, there was no shredded lettuce, and I asked for pink but received no pink. The Lady who took my order however was really friendly and enthusiastic which always makes ordering a better experience. I will go back I just hope their accuracy improves. read more

Got three appetizers pretzel bites, mozz sticks, and quesadillas and my table of 16 picked at them. I felt very sick after and they all had the same taste. Really unsatisfying. Reminded me of Mcdonalds food and if I wanted fast food I wouldn't have sat down at a diner and tipped a waiter. The margaritas were AWFUL. I don't drink but my friends who got them said they tasted bad and they threw up after a couple of them, the worst part is they didn't even get them drunk so it wasn't worth getting sick over. The waiter didn't even keep track of How many drinks our table got and told us to "be honest" and not "rip him off". He also did not card anyone at our table, and we had people under the age of 21. First time at this Applebees. But long water at Applebees. This one is a crowd one mainly for its right in front of the casino. So like on this Saturday night. You can end up waiting a good while. We waited 20-30 mins. Tonight I went simple and got the brunch burger. That was actually really good. The onions, the hash browns and over med egg. Bitting into it and the yoke doing out over the burger. Pure delicious is the only way to describe it. The staff was attentive and friendly. Nice alternative to reading in the casino. read more

Okay just as I said before, I am not a big fan of chain restaurants. We stopped here on a whim after leaving Parx Casino. We just wanted to have a quick bite, we decided on car side carry out. The girl on the phone taking the order was very nice, as was the girl who came to the car. We ordered the build your own sampler and a chicken quesadilla. We got the boneless wings, mozzarella sticks and cheeseburger egg rolls with the sampler. Now this is not gourmet food, I knew that going into it. The boneless wings were good. The sauce was sweet and spicy, they were also cooked well. The mozzarella were cold, went in the garbage. The cheeseburger egg rolls themselves were okay, the condiment that came with them was flat out terrible. The chicken quesadilla was terrible as well. It was very cold and just sloppy. While the food here is edible it's not great. I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here. 2 stars for service, 1 for food. read more

Me and my husband are big fans of Applebees and have been to like 30 different locations. I gotta say that the Bensalem location is by far our favorite we just come here now all the time because we know we will have a great experience. The food is excellent and never have I been to an Applebees that had such great food on a consistent basis. Literally everything we have got from here is great! They have the best burgers! The staff is always really nice and welcoming. There is a really nice older man that seats us everytime we go and my 4 year old loves him! We also have had the same waitress multiple times that is always super sweet and attentive. Places like these restaurant chains normally don't stand out but this location definitely does! read more

Had dinner with my husband after we spent our afternoon at the nearby Parx horse racing. Place is 90% full. We waited 5 minutes. Food is fine, above average. Service is good, every one so nice in particular our waitress, Amanda. She's very pleasant and we give her a good tip. Good store management. read more

Wasn't our first choice but other similar restaurants in the area were too busy & the kids wanted good desserts. Our waitress was super friendly, thought to bring the kids entrees out as soon as they were ready & offered food suggestions that turned out to be right on target! Everything arrived promptly & was very good. the only reason there's not a perfect 5 star is because when it came time for the bill we had to wait :( Don't like when that happens especially with kids waiting to leave. Be sure to ask YOUR SERVER for something because it seems like they get offended if you ask someone else. Ended up asking another server for something and she seemed indifferent and annoyed that I would ask her. Overall the food was simply ok, nothing special or spectacular, but it is Applebees. I had the Orients Chicken Salad and the dressing was extrememly heacy to the point of unappetizing. The Spinach and Artichoke dip was good, but the portion size has continued to get smaller. Asking for more chips seemed to not please the waitress. read more

Usually don't eat here but Outback across the street left us waiting for forty minutes for a table (see my review for details). So we came here. Seated immediately. Had drinks within 5 minutes. Mucho long Island iced tea was delicious. Ordered sweet potato fries from the goofy touch screen at the table, they arrived a couple minutes later. Came with two Chipotle-like sauces and some kind of yogurt. OK, but the yogurt was weird. Still wondering what exactly that was. Got fish and chips with onion rings (I posted a pic). Fish was a bit undercooked and creamy but still good and very hot. Onion rings are some of the best I've had. Tartar was nice and not too sweet. Cole slaw was edible but was lacking in sauce. It also had cilantro which I do not like, and as s a courtesy should not expect to find it hidden in a dish that never had it. Either way it was nice and crispy and fresh. Came with lemon and vinegar which I liked. Having sea salt and peppercorn grinder at the table was a nice touch. Wife had the salmon, was very good and includes spinach, something I'd like to see more of on menus. Place was clean, service and sound levels were good but we sat near the bar and the bartender talked (loudly) the entire time. Price felt a bit high.. $47 for two entrees, some fries, 2 waters, and one mixed 'drank. 3 stars because it was up to par. The price-to-"wow" ratio would need to be higher for any more stars than that. Maybe I'm old fashioned but once a dinner for two hits that $50 threshold I expect the higher end of fast casual meal spectrum. read more

The service was great but we used to use Apple Bee's as our causal place for the 2 for $20 most of the time... We always got the got boneless wings (2 ppl but only 3 pieces of celery we were told we had to ask for for more if we wanted... 2 ppl and 3 celery sticks? Come on) and we would always do the steak (now their largest is 8oz and they said "yes.. Sorry we changed") we always get the shrimp parm on top of our steaks (which used to be a juicy parm cheese with shrimp) but got small steaks with just chips of grated parm cheese on top. ALSO paid the $2 for our son to play the game tablet they have and it kept dying (after 3 different ones they gave us) so after a long story WE LOVED (yes LOVED) Applebees but the prices aren't worth the quality... I usually come here all the time. But there's a young African American female with short curly hair. She was extremely rude and impatient. Never came to check on us nor told us about any promotional deals. Also she failed to bring me my appetizer. Every other person that has waited on me is super awesome but I would recommend firing her. But I will still be coming back to this Applebee's because it's clean and friendly. read more

I have been to this location a few times this past few months and it gets better everytime! This is definatly the best Applebees I have ever ate at. The food is phenomenal and the servers are phenomenal as well! Food came out pretty fast and was cooked exactly how we asked and was delicious! I was here this past weekend and it was packed but our food came out pretty quick and I had the best burger I've ever had at a Applebees! Our server was excellent he was really attentive and on top of things and got every single one of our picky requests correct. We will definatly be back again soon! read more

I haven't been to Applebee's since college for half price apps and drinks. We returned recently only because we had a gift certificate and who does love a free meal. When we arrived, there was a mass of people by the hostess but the restaurant was completely empty so I couldn't figure out why we were crowded and waiting. As I got closer to the hostess, I realized it was because she was taking her sweet time chatting with a group of gentlemen before seating them....deep sighs already. Once we were seated we were served pretty quickly, about the only plus for the night. The food came out quickly too, but everything was very bland and boring. Maybe my palette is snoby now, but I don't think I'll be back to Applebee's again unless we have another gift card or something. read more

Location location... only reason this place survives is that its close to Parx. Its said we eat with our eyes - they know that-but the menu here is a complete lie!!... The menu pics do not represent what you get. After you order they grab the menu off the table probably so you can't refer back to see how your dish compares and differs. When will we as the public stand up to these places that misrepresent what they sell to you!! Answer --just stop buying their food!!! I ordered the grilled lemon chicken. The pic in menu looked very appetizing nice size portion with lots of things like glazed pecans...When it came it was a small little piece of grilled dry chicken with very little rice and quinoa -the glazed pecans were totally missing... This was our second time to this location. Food was pretty good. My husbaand loved the ribs, and I had a steak that was very well cooked. I cannot speak so highly of the sides though. My broccoli was very undercooked. It tasted and looked like raw broccoli heated up. My garlic mashed potatoes were eeehhh. Service was eeeehhh as well. Our waitress didn't pay much attention to us at all. She kept walking past our table not saying one word. I had to wait for a refill on my pepsi forever. Our appetizers were left on the table, causing a spacing issue (she did clear once I asked). We asked for the check, which again took forever. I think this was due to the fact we heard her say "oh my regulars are here." She preceded to have a lengthy conversation with them. She cane to clear our plates, asked if we wanted dessert.....but didn't bring the check. When asked AGAIN if we could have the check, she replied "oh I thought I brought it to you." Wow, all of the Applebee's that I have been to lately have really gone down hill. Ordered the Oriental Chicken Salad - it came with way too much dressing. We had the spinach artichoke dip and we were waiting for our server to return to ask for more chips, but one of the girls that seat people happened to walk by first so we asked her and wow, you'd think we asked for the world. APPLEBEES REVIEW Just need everyone to know of our dining experience at the Applebee's in Bensalem, by the Casino. First as walking in the door, my wife was complimented on her shirt " I like your shirt " while the other lady at the front desk asked if my wife was cold ? Was her high beams on or something ? What I wanted was a burger and fries, for lunch, asked the waitress about the $9.99 Big hand out she gave us about their Burger special, she decided to show us other pages in the menu instead ? I ordered the $9.99 American Burger that came with Fries and Soda, the wife ordered Chicken/Corn Bread salad. There is a little game tablet on the table, found out if you use it they charge you $2.00 per game. While the food came, let's start with the wife's, about 6 small pieces of Iceberg Lettuce, and lots of small deep fried pieces of Corn Bread, some Chicken and lots of small tomatoes that were red but not ripe, and tasted like they were green still. On the other hand, My burger bun was the type you buy in a 12 pack at the dollar store, I asked for the burger well done, was dripping with grease, was 73% ground beef, you could tell, taste was yuck ! The Fries were covered with black specs and tasted like they were deep fried in rancid oil, that would also account for the black specs. The best part is while we are eating, a male employee starts to ask us for donations to some kid of charity, which we can see posted all over including on our table, for $5.00, How freaking outrageous can you get ! We are near the door, and we can hear the person that complimented my wife's shirt, compliment the next customer exactly same as my wife " I like your shirt " ! Now the place is empty and guess where they put this couple, right behind us ! So I can listen to their conversation while trying to eat, TRYING ! The best part of my meal was the soda ! I am biting at the bit for someone to ask me how the meal is, they never attempted to ask, guess they could read my mind. Well just to let you know the day before we went to Shady Maple in Lancaster for Brunch, was great, but our bill at Applebee's was for the same amount and this is one of the worst meals I ever had.
