Girl waitresses are rude. Got there & nobody acknowledged us so we sat ourselves down because if not we would've been left waiting and It wasn't even busy. I had to get up to let them know we were there. Later one of the waitresses took our drinks and never brought them to us. I have been to this Applebee's about 3 or 4 times for happy hour with my bf & sisters. We were happy to have found a late night spot so close to home for drinks & appetizers. The first couple of times the service was OK no complaints. However, last night 12/11 the service was nothing but HORRIBLE. The restaurant wasn't busy, there was about 4/5 front of house workers & our server never seemed to be able to catch up, let alone the other staff members didn't even bother to give her server support. I'm in the service industry & I know how things run. But last nights service has had to have been the worst service I've ever received. Management needs to be on top of this place especially late night happy hour. Also the bartender shouldn't be serving alcohol to a man that is clearly already intoxicated, that was not fun to watch-- him spitting all over the floor, learn to cut people off or that could really get you in trouble. I've never written a review before but last night didn't sit well with me, especially when wanting to have a good time. Can't believe we waited almost 30 min for our second round of drinks. Won't allow substitutions on the sampler appetizer eve though the items cost the same. Ordered online was told what time to pick it up. Arrived 2 minutes before it was supposed to be ready (most places would have it ready to go). Called to let them know we were there and the brain trust couldn't figure out the name because we gave the last and they only put the first on the bag. Told them the first then proceeded to wait more than 30 minutes for the food to come out. Nothing. FINALLY we went in to see what was going on (pushing an hour from the time it was supposed to be ready). Told them we had been waiting forever they asked the name again. We've been trying to support local restaurants during covid, sometimes mom n pop sometimes chains. The folks at the Rancho SD Applebee's have become like friends. Always grateful for the business, always going above & beyond & rare times there's a hiccup, going way beyond what's needed to make it right. All meals have been tasty, we enjoy a to go cocktail now n then & you can't beat the prices, especially the 2 for $22. If you haven't been to Applebee's in a while, give them a try! read more

This place is a disaster! I don't even know where to start. Jesus was the only saving grace for this place. He was great. But let's talk about the 5 servers huddled at the front touching the hostesses hair and discussing her haircut instead of seating the 15 people waiting. She took her hair down and was swinging it around and they were all touching it and did not sanitize their hands Secondly the other hostess I think her name was Taylor... she pulled down her mask and rubbed her nose like 5 times, didn't sanitize her hands and grabbed menus to seat people. The drinks were bad... the Long Island iced tea was more like a lemonade they went to Long Island to get!!!! It took foreverrrr! Came here for dinner to meet up with an old co worker I used to work with. We got seated right away because this place had filled up with people coming in for dinner. We got seated at a booth. The server and the guys who work here looked like models. Such eye candy for my friend and myself! LOL! Nothing wrong with looking even though my husband was there! Haha! As we got seated, we place our drink orders. I got the mango lemonade. Yum! We go with the 2 for $25 meals. You get one appetizer and two meals. We order the spinach artichoke dip. It came with thin chips. It was delicious! For my meal, I got the chicken with shrimp that comes with potatoes. It came on a hot skillet. My potatoes were a little burnt but edible. (See photo) The chicken was cooked throughly. It was dry and could have used some sauce on it. The shrimp was good. My food was just okay. No wow factor. Average food. My friend got the mild chicken pieces. I didn't get to try them but she said they were good. You can smell the vinegar from the sauce. Looked good! I must say that service was excellent. The waiter made sure we were taken care of. He was very nice and polite. We asked for to go boxes for my daughter and my friend. As we left, one of the good looking waiters told us thanks for coming. I didn't even make eye contact as I was holding my daughter's hand. There's a small parking lot right in front. We were lucky to find a parking spot near the entrance. Overall the food was okay. After a productive day at work, I did not feel like cooking this evening so I decided to order dinner "to go" from my neighborhood Applebee's. I do not eat hear much so I decided to give it a go. I ordered their bacon cheeseburger with fries. I figured not much can go wrong with a burger from a chain. When I arrived my food was not ready so they asked me to wait at the bar. They asked if I wanted a drink while wait, but I declined the offer. My food came about 5 minutes later. The burger was well prepared. The patty had a nice crisp on the outside and was tender and flavorful in the inside. Good burger. However, the fries were very over salted. I had to shake the most of the salt free in order to eat them. All together the meal was good so, an A-Ok is in order. read more

I like that they have the deals also, like 2 for $20 or 2/$25. You get an appertizer and a entree. My group ordered the wings for appertizer and they were very salty. It's been hit or miss at this Applebees, and tonight showed why they only have three stars and I'm only giving one. We showed up and they gave us a 15 min wait time, sent us a text telling us we were next. But, in typical San Diego fashion, a large group of 15-20 showed up and they got priority. Probably due to automatic gratuity. Well, just so whoever is reading this get the full picture, there were about ten booths empty and the hostess said the kitchen was backed up. Hopefully that gratuity was enough to run other customers off, in my case, for good. My hard earned money will be given to a business that works just as hard as I did to earn it!!!!!! I am a HUGE Applebee's fan, actually it's my favorite restaurant of all time but this time I was very disappointed. Our server was Kayla G . Upon arriving she came over and took our drink orders she took 20mins before coming back to the table to drop off our drinks , she asked us to excuse her for just a second and then she would be back to take our orders . It took her 25 mins to come back to take our order because she was too busy checking in on guest and running their orders before even getting Ours started . During the hour we were eating she never came to check in with our table, she was continuously walking past us , everytime we asked for help she would say just a minute and walk past us again. This was by far my worst experience eating at an Applebees. All of the meals that came out were cold and the had to be sent back. The steaks were not seasoned and one was rare when ordered to be medium well. The ribs were crispy and dry and even the second time around the food came back just warm. There are few times when you go to a restaurant and leave unsatisfied. This was one of those times. It had been about a decade since I had stepped foot in an Applebee's and now I remember why. It boggles me how a restaurant can have "the goods" such as cable TV, nice furniture, and nice staff yet neglect the very basic and core part of the business; the food and cleanliness. As soon as we arrived we realized our booth was dirty. The first server tried to clean it but utterly failed and left the booth wet and worse off. The flacid excuse of onion rings that were on my plate perfectly complimented the sorry excuse of a mushroom burger and tasteless broccoli alfredo pasta. Don't get me wrong, our server Sandy was great and very understanding even when we sent the glasses back because they were dirty and stained. We will not however, be going back in the foreseeable future and we can only hope you think twice about going to this establishment. I came here for my daughters school fundraiser breakfast so there were none of the usual staff except for cooks. I must say that the high school kids did an excellent job of seating us, taking our orders, bringing out our food, cleaning/sweeping and being friendly. This review is more for the food which was good, not great. The eggs, sausage and potatoes were ok but the pancakes were very thin-more like crepes and weren't filling. They could use some work.
