This is the most disgusting dirtiest Applebees I've ever been in. Applebee's is one of my favorite places. But i wouldn't eat here for free. The first stop was the ladies room which was extremely dirty. The sink has scum built up. The area near the tap smelt like a bathroom. The carpet was worn to the floorboards. And interestingly there was an area set up for selling trinket. I saw a couple get seated at a table that had trash on the floor from the prior guests. What a mess of a business. We called in our order on Valentines day. And I must say, the gentleman who answered the call was thoroughly delightful. He was just a really nice guy. And despite it being one of the restaurant businesses busiest nights. We were pleasantly surprised they gave us a wait time of 15 minutes. At first we didn't believe it, but the food was ready in 15 minutes. My husband noted that when he walked inside to collect the food, the restaurant was packed, so the speed was impressive. However; fast forward to the reason we showed up, the food. It was disappointing, to say the least. We ordered food plain for my grandson, and we still had to pull stuff off to eat. This would be just an inconvenience, except most times when people order food without something, it is due to allergies. Also....the biggest issue with the food was the steak. Applebees use to be our date night place, we ate there once or twice per week. That stopped years ago, the steak was the reason why. A chef/cook must know temperature. This is always a problem. The steak was chewy and difficult to cut with a very sharp knife. The reason was because it wasn't just a little off from medium, it was raw and bloody. There was mold growing on the wall near our table; not just in the one spot I took a picture of, but two spots of where mold was growing!!!! We had to wait so long for our food, and the food was okay, but the mold really turned me off. I'm not coming here again or at least any time soon. Get rid of the mold and be more sanitary. read more

As a rule I usually don't complain. but the manager at my Applebee's in Elizabeth city pissed me off. I placed my delivery order online, the amount was $ 48.13 when they brought it to me my receipt said $65.07. When I checked my bank account it said Applebee's. My steak was burnt, so I called the restaurant manager and told him about my order and he told me that if I got my order from doordash he could not help me. The problem with that is that I ordered from Applebee's and my bank paid Applebee's they should make my order good. I have enjoyed getting my order delivered, because my husband is disabled and we can't go out to the restaurant. I am sure that I should get a refund because I ordered thru Applebee's In Elizabeth city and paid Applebee's. The manager apparently does not care if the food is not up to par. Two of the three worst dining experiences in my entire life were added to my memories here. I used to have fond memories of this establishment. Over the last 20+ years, I often came here for lunch or dinner and until the last few years, always had a decent dining experience. However, I can't say the same of a single meal I have had here since 2019. I certainly can understand a one-off and give the benefit of the doubt for a bad day once in a while. But, the service and quality of food has gone down significantly and consistently. I have given several chances. I will definitely be extremely hesitant to return and it certainly won't be my idea. My last experience included the meal being brought out more than 15 minutes before the appetizer that they apparently forgot altogether until I asked about it. The shrimp portion of my meal was so overcooked that it was the texture of beef jerky (dry and chewy little discs.) The accompanying sautéed mushrooms tasted like charcoal as well. My grandson ordered from the children's menu and the bottom of the crust was burnt; solid black, burnt. I can only imagine the staff is tired of patrons sending back poorly made or delivered meals because it seemed old hat when I addressed it. They did replace the overcooked shrimp with fresh, barely cooked shrimp and apparently 'comped' my lemonade for the inconvenience by leaving it off the bill. But having not addressed this with me, it could have easily been an oversight. How wonderfully generous of them. I won't get into the previous experience, but it has become the stuff of family lore. read more

My husband ordered the Dollar Margarita and it was just syrup and a shot of cheap tequila on top. The burgers were overcooked and took 45 minutes to come out! BARELY luke warm. One drop of bbq was on the whiskey barbecue burger. The brunch burger was supposed to come with an over easy egg and the egg was over hard. The bartender did not know what a well drink was... not sure what we were expecting but, damn. This is hands down the worst Applebee's ever. Go legit anywhere else in town for food. The server was barely attentive - didn't ask us any questions just wrote down whatever.. the only good thing about this dining experience was the Crown Ginger Apple Freeze; but not worth the price. read more

My fiancé and I got into town and decided to grab something to eat. Applebee's page stated they closed at midnight, perfect. Upon entering, the hostess greeted us and grabbed menus to seat us where the bartender hollared out to her "those doors should be locked!" As the hostess proceeded to take us to our table, another worker came out and said, the stoves were just turned off. The hostess looked at us, apologized and I said you are open until midnight. Her response was that's it's only open until midnight on certain nights! Their website said they were open until midnight everyday. She never asked what we wanted...we could have wanted nachos or a soda but were never asked even with their being at least 7 other customers in the restaurant. We won't be back! Good flavors. The steaks aren't consistently cooked correctly but I like the salmon dish as well. Quesadilla burger is unusual but surprisingly decent. I really like the garlic green beans. I love Applebee's so this was a treat. I treated it as date night with my boyfriend. Walking in it looked like any other one I walked into before. It was clean and very well maintained. We ordered appetizers for starters. The chicken wanton tacos are always delicious; a hand-held version of their oriental chicken salad. The boneless buffalo chicken wings were dry. We also ordered the taco topped queso and chips; well it was queso, but not 'tacoed.' They rectified it. Is all good. Our main courses were filling and satisfying, well for me anyway. If there is one thing I could ding them on though is that they could've put more marinara on the chicken parmesan. Overall it was a pretty good meal. I will be returning. read more

I placed an order through DoorDash for a Whiskey Bacon Burger with fries and Garlicky Green Beans. First, the fries were cold and soggy and half the amount you would get if you dined in. The Burger has bacon in its name, but there was no bacon to be found on the burger. On top of that, the burger was cold and very small. The toppings were extremely sparse and the bun was extremely greasy. The green beans were cold and looked like they were old. The reason people order expensive burgers from restaurants like this is because they want better quality than what they would get from fast food joints, but I would have gotten a much better and bigger burger from Burger King or McDonald's. The burger in the picture in the menu definitely looks like it's worth $14, but this burger was, at the most, worth about $3. I haven't been to Applebee's in a long time and their quality seems to have decreased greatly, which is a shame, as they used to be pretty good. read more

Wife and I enjoyed our meal this evening; the biggest drawback was the men's bathroom: The urinal smelled like it hadn't been properly cleaned since April. It absolutely reeked. I got the bourbon chicken on the 2 for $20. My wife ordered the penne pasta with chicken. Let me begin by saying the biggest disappointment with this meal was the amount we paid. I didn't need any more food, but if I'm paying $23 I expect to get a little more than a slab of chicken with 3 pieces of baby shrimp. I would have no problem with this if the meal had been under $20 but realistically speaking I can get a less expensive meal other places for a cheaper price and it will be more fresh. Also, for a "bourbon" chicken the meal lacked any flavor besides a slight grilled taste that wasn't bad. The onions were good but once again if I'm paying $20 I need some more spice/flavor. Seriously I could season a chicken better at home. The potatoes had an odd texture but they were pretty good. The texture of the chicken was also good. Just over priced and under seasoned. Had lunch here before working that afternoon in Elizabeth City. I was promptly greeted and ushered to my table, where my server was quick to acknowledge me. First visit the waiter got my drink order wrong twice, I didnt say nothing cause its whatever I wasnt gonna make a big deal out of it but today when I went I ordered a house frozen margarita and when the waitress brought it to me it was watered down slushy ice. This specific Applebee's restaurant needs help. The service is absolutely terrible, and the food does not resemble what Applebee's stands for. What was supposed to be Medium Well had turned into beyond Well Done. It is disgusting to serve any steak this way. Now, on to the mashed potatoes. This place totally messed up my to go order and when I got back to my hotel I discovered the error and called Applebee's to my order fixed and the manager wanted me drive all the way back to the store to get my missing items while my steak is to go cold along with my other items. Skip these place and go to Ruby Tuesday where the quality of food was much better and they were able to read and put my order correctly the very 1st time.
