After coming to this local spot for about 6 years now I came with my girl friends and my one and only 21 year old friend got denied an alcoholic beverage due to "The NJ emblem not showing after shining light and didn't scan" when the male server asked for her ID he walked away and took a while to come back and deny us. Then we asked for the manager Sue, who was rude and made the inconvenience more embarrassing for us. The license was issued by the Randolph DMV this august 2021. On our way out , we asked Sue again for her name so we could fix this issue for the future and she responded saying "Sue. Please go report me" that's how she responded when we didn't ask in a rude. check the cameras we simply asked because she's the manager it's important to know her name. Automatically assuming and asking us to PLEASE report her. Honestly everything else that happened aside I found it really out of pocket for her to make that comment as a manager. I assumed the responsibility of a manager is to resolve conflict in a respectful way. It just looks bad on the business for a manager to respond in that way and catch an attitude before the customer. No employee should ask a customer to contact corporate. read more

We went here today and were seated outside. After a long wait, we were told the waitress didn't think she could handle anymore orders outside because she didn't expect so many people. We were a party of four, and there were only 2 other families. Seriously? Get a grip. If you can't handle your job, go elsewhere! Why put 8 tables outside, then say you can't handle 3? Annoyed we went to try outdoor dining due to Covid 19. Was greeted and told sit at any open table. 2 servers on 1 bus boy 1 other guy all outside working . 25 minutes later got menus after another table who came after us got menus and drinks taken. Manager seemed bothered he had to bring menus over after we asked for them and sitting there for 25 minutes. Apparently they don't acknowledge customers they don't think is worth their effort. Service: Started fast but slowed down toward the end when we asked for the check. Food: We ordered three appetizers. -Siracha Shrimp was absolutely incredible, the sweetness blends perfectly with the tang and makes for an eruption of flavor. -Spinach and Artichoke dip is a classic. Every time you head over to the bees of the apples it is a must. Chip to dip ratio did not disappoint, PS do not ever try to mix buffalo wings and spinach and artichoke dip because the sauce does not mix well with the dip. -Can not go wrong with buffalo wings except for the fact that they made my nose run. Tissues were needed to treat my runny nose sickness. Overall great experience and will probably be there tomorrow read more

Honestly, this was the worst Applebee's I've ever been to. We ordered the 2 for 20 deal as usual and we always get the same thing: Spin/Art dip, boneless wings, Cedar Grilled Lemon Chicken and the Three Cheese Chicken Cavatappi. The dip was fine, but the wings came out cold and we asked the waitress to reheat them for us, the Three Cheese Cavatappi had NOOOO cheese on it whatsoever, so we had to ask multiple times for more cheese (poor waitress, it was only her second day and it was not her fault) and lastly, the Cedar Grilled Lemon Chicken tasted way different than it normally does (I cannot pin point the exact issue, but it was not the same and there was a strong taste of lemon). Overall, I've probably been to at least 30 different Applebee's in my lifetime, and this was by far the worst one. Thus, they receive two stars. read more

The chain bills itself as your "Neighborhood Grill and Bar" but shouldn't a place committed to a community worry about customer service? The service and food are so inconsistent it's almost funny. We never knew what were going to get & the cost doesn't make up for being served the wrong food, still frozen food or burned food. Adding insult to injury is being made to wait over an hour for the kids chicken fingers! We could have gone to MickyD's down any street, brought the bag back and eaten at the table. We have had our meals comped for their mistakes but how many times does it take to get the formula right? I'm tired of hit or miss service and lousy food and will never set foot in one again. We just had diner at Applebee's in Mount Olive, NJ. We had the best experience there being vegetarian. The waiter was able to substitute veggie burger for the meat entree and still keep the $20 for 2 meal deal. His name was Danny. read more

We eat at this Applebee's location frequently. I have had a pretty good experience and find they are very accommodating to parties with small children (we have 2 year old twins) The servers generally ask if we would like the children's meals with the appetizers or with the meals. In addition to the server, we usually find that a manager is also checking if things are good with each tables. Many times we also use the car side to go service and find the meals ready on time and well packed. We have not experienced the poor service others have noted. read more

We usually don't eat at this location because of the poor service we've had in the past. We made the mistake, though, of trying again last week. The service was poor. It started with a less then welcoming welcome by the hostesess. We had seven people and wanted to sit four and three since it was my daughter's birthday and she wanted to sit "alone" with her friends. The hostess obviously didn't want to do that and made it pretty apparent. She offered to sit us at a booth for six and put a chair in the aisle. She finally decided that she could accommodate us, but made sure we knew she was doing US a favor. When we sat down, we waited 45 minutes until we got anything to eat. We ordered salad and an appetizer - that's what took 45 minutes to come out. While we waited for our meals, several "runners" came by out table to ask us if the food they had was ours. Really? When the food finally came out, it wasn't very good. I understand that I'm eating at a chain and I don't expect fine dining at Applebees. We do eat at Applebees because we have kids and everyone can find something they like. I don't dislike the chain. This location, however, is the pits. I should have followed my instincts, but we were all really hungry and this was the closest place. The Hackettstown Applebees isn't far away, about 10 or 15 minutes. I've always had a good experience there - better food and much better service. If you are going to eat at Applebees, do yourself a favor, don't go to the Mount Olive location. read more

The service was okay at first but the waitress went missing after the main course was served. This poor review is because WE ALL GOT SICK when we got home. Three of us shared the combo appetizer, of which the tortilla chips were stale. Other than that we all ordered different main courses of which no one had any complaints. I am thinking the cheese was bad or the glasses we all had our beverages in were soapy. The ride home we had to stop for a toilet. We will not be going back which is a shame because the kids really enjoyed it. I feel bamboozled having spent 95$ there only for everyone to spend the rest of the night sick. Stopped at this restaurant on a trip home from the Pocono's to Long Island. Needed a place to eat that was going to be not an adventure. Also wanted fast off the highway and quick on. This Applebee's was perfect. The menu was extensive, the food was good and the prices were very good. We had the 2 for $20 deal and actually took food home. The staff were attentive and quick to serve. My steak was not quite to my cooked liking and they took it back and fixed it to be perfect, no problem. My only one complaint would be the ladies room was a bit disgusting. But to be honest you cannot really fault the restaurant for the slobs that use the rest rooms. But they need to pay better attention to cleaning them more often. All in all on my trips using route 80 I will definitely eat here again. read more

Love this applebees I guess you would have to call me a regular there since I go once a week I know the bartender manager and most of the servers by name. The environment is amazing the staff makes it fun and where else can you drink and eat for 2 people for around 36-40 and have such a great time. If ever in the area I recommend stopping in especially if tim is on bar. read more

Went again for All you can eat Salad/Soup/Breadsticks. Soup is good but service was so bad, It took 20min for first serve and then had to wait another 20 min wait to refill soup. House salad came with Bacon first time and Bacon disappeared in second serving. read more

After feeling less than happy my first time here a few months ago, I am extremely pleased to say that my second visit left my family & I more than impressed. We were seated right away at a perfect table for my daughter to feel comfortable enjoying herself, rather than getting angry stares/complaints from surrounding tables if she decided to "laugh too loud", as we were previously told. I immediately mentioned to our server that my daughter received a terrible birthday dinner at another popular restaurant just last night, and that we were primarily here at Applebee's tonight to celebrate her birthday with a "singing dessert". Without waiting much time at all, we ordered and enjoyed our drinks & apps, and then followed a lovely birthday celebration for her (ice cream sundae, plus the enthusiasm from the singing servers!) and she was very happy! The outstanding, polite service from our server Zack made the entire experience beyond wonderful. I hope we can have similar service in our times to come. The kids love going to this location so we usually go after Saturday night mass but this will be the last time. My entree was missing parts to it and when I complained to the manager his response was "Well its coming off the menu Monday". That helps me a lot for wasting $11.99 on some small overcooked shrimp that lacked the pineapples, black beans, and corn. Never again. read more

Great place for dinner! My boyfriend and I went for dinner and we each got a flavored lemonade and entree. Plus we got an appetizer. We only spent about $20! The service was good and the waiter was funny and friendly to joke around with. It's pretty busy and crammed though, so don't expect a private table. There are lots of tvs with news and sports on.
