We had a great first experience at Market Tavern. Arrived ahead of the dinner crowd on a Friday. The place was buzzin especially in the bar area. We were seated quickly and Lynn took great care of us. The menu had a lot to offer. We started with wings, and had burgers and the fried chicken sandwich. Everyone enjoyed their food. My market burger was delish! My son also enjoyed the lava cake for dessert. There's an extensive beer list with lots of great choices. They were out of my first two choices but luckily I like beer and there were others to choose from. We're planning to go back!

    Cheers to Eagle Rare!

3 1/2 stars! Located in a strip mall and the inside definitely looks a lot better than the outside. Dark and inviting with a very large bar & lots of TV's for sports watching. Dining room is tucked around the corner with tables that are spaced out. The menu was great - tons of options; meat is their specialty. However, their prices are insane. Look - I know prices have gone up recently & I go out a lot to eat & I've never seen prices this high for this type of place. We enjoyed our potato skins but really for $10.50 we should get more than just a 1/2 of one potato! Wings were delish and we split the cheesesteak which was very good. Would I go back......probably not because I can get the same type of food at least $4.00 cheaper. Too bad, nice place but they are competing with Polo's up the street which has a better cheese steak and wings with a better price point.

The chicken wings had a good crisp, the side salad I asked for was fresh, the cheese steak roll was pillowy soft and was nicely cheesy, and most importantly, the gentleman behind the bar who took our order was a fantastically nice guy The cons. The garlic parm sauce on the wings were a bit lacking and the amount of meat on the cheese steak was only half enough to really fill that long roll. And the most irksome thing was the 2,23 % "technology fee". No offense but WTH is that?????? If it was to use the credit card, it wasn't explained at all. Look, if you like a funky bar with good food and you are in the area, I would say check it out once in your life and form your opinion. But, for me, I just don't know how often

I love them. The wings are a bit on the smaller side but sauce and cooking is great. The chowder flavor was great it was a bit thinner that I prefer and more potatoes would have been perfect. Lastly the special drunk grandpa pizza was great. Quiet in here tonight but it's a Sunday in a local pub so as expected.

As you will see upon arrival the door mentions that Shakey Jakes is recognized by Yelp & NJ.com as one of the top Dive Bars in Jersey. Bartenders are super friendly, helpful & professional. I sampled Bombay Sapphire, which is offered in a small glass or beer goblet...humm okay I'll bit let's go Big! I ordered the Steamed Clams, which come with croastini. On the menu it is offered with a Cajun Garlic Butter, I replaced that with just the regular drawn butter. Wow--wonderful nice size clams with the toasted bread, delicious. I loved it so much I had a second order. If you are are a steamed clam fan don't forget to sample the clam broth. This place is a keeper. I sent a picture of the front door of Shakey Jakes to my wife and son. I mentioned that "If I go missing this is the place to start." I showed the text to the Bartender, she got a huge kick out of it and said you are not from around here are you?

Nice bar, and good selection for wines and beer. Parking is street parking mostly and they have couple of parking spots to the side of the restaurant. The menu is concentrated offering a nice balance of traditional items and Irish dishes. The Potato and Leek Soup is made very well with such a clean smooth broth and plenty of potato and leek present in the soup. Try the Cajun Chicken and Sausage gumbo was a nice option offering Big pieces of Chicken and Andouille Sausage. Nice kick but not overwhelming.
