My wife and I have eaten here numerous times during the past few years. Normally everything is perfect, food, service, cleanliness. This visit was the exception. Our waiter was terrible! However, when we brought the matter to the attention of the hostess, Violet, she was amazing! She got the manager Jacob, who handled the situation perfectly. He literally became our personal waiter! Violet stopped by our table a couple times to make sure everything was okay, way beyond the call of duty. We had seen Violet often when entering Applebees and waiting to be seated. Now however, she is much more as we got a chance to know her and look forward to our next visit to the Gaylord Applebees. I have been here several times. It seems like we're missing one of the three sisters and it's not quite as good today or maybe it's just the cold weather. My oldest sister and I both had the all you can eat salad soup and breadsticks. I forgot that both salads that I ordered had almonds and I'm allergic to nuts so the waitress very nicely. Let us put both of my salads in to go boxes to take home for my sister. The French onion soup would've been good but they put the croutons in it before they put the melted cheese on, and they turned into slush. That was just tasteful to me. I also had the tomato bisque to my disappointment, the soup tasted no different than a canned tomato soup with a little bit of basil. The breadsticks are great. I really can't complain because the price was only like 1199 for all you can eat. It's just that I didn't feel like eating today. My fault. My sister totally enjoyed herself with two servings of everything and the waitress was absolutely fantastic. And it's a casual place. You can kick Back And relax and talk for a while. Fiesta Lime Chicken. This chicken felt like eating imitation crab. Or maybe pork fat. It was nauseating. I could not eat it. Neither could my husband, and he can eat anything. It was gross. I remember when they used to cook real chicken breasts. This thing was not real. I left hungry. Oh, and they used to have brewed iced tea. It was definitely Brisk out of the use machine. Blech. We recently ate at the Mr. Pleasant location this summer and had a good experience so we thought we would try this location. Unfortunately it wasn't a good experience. We were seated in the bar area. The couple behind us were very familiar to the staff there. Many of the staff hung out at this table, making it difficult to hear each other. Our food came out cold but at this point we just wanted to get out of there. They insisted that we pay our bill in our phone, which we didn't encounter before. Other than random tourists coming through, I'm not sure who keeps this place in business. read more

Just had an early dinner. Floor was dirty in the booth across from us. Our waitress was not attentive. 3 of us and brought 2 sets of silverware and 2 straws. Seemed annoyed when we asked for a straw and the missing silverware. Didn't refill drinks until late in the meal. Had nachos and the meat was dried out, guac was an "off" color and hardly any cheese. We are up north for a couple of days and we're looking for a quick dinner before we hit the bed and take a long night snooze. Applebee's fit the bill. The wife had a taco appetizer and I had a combo appetizer. We both had a drink cost was under 35 bucks and we gave her a nice tip. We're on vacation and we plan to enjoy the up north of Michigan. Applebees always got good food, good atmosphere, and decent price for the food. The waitress was quick with the food. Seeing that we are senior citizens, we enjoyed a 10% discount and we think Applebee's for that so if you're looking for a decent meal and you're on the road, I would go to an Applebee's any place. And the top of that they treat their veterans that serve this country very well on Veterans Day November 11. So if you're a vet, make sure you go there and get your steak dinner and remember to tip the waitress as if you had to pay for that steak dinner they make very little money and are only there to please us. read more

I can't complain.... There was nothing special. Our friends got there before we did and asked for five ice waters to accommodate our party. They wouldn't bring them until 15 minutes after the entire party was seated. The service was on the slow side and they were short staffed, but given the circumstances, it isn't surprising. Our party ended up ordering a salad, pasta dish, chicken dish, and the appetizer Platter. None of us had any complaints about our meals. It's Applebees..... Good for a salad, sandwich, burger or simple steak. Good drinks. Location is great, right off the interstate. I'd visit the next time I was in the area. read more

For an Applebee's you already have somewhat lower expectations. This place is terrible though. The Burger was near raw all the while I was never asked how I wanted it. The fries were cold. This is just the tip of the iceberg though. My wife and I walked in and were not greated by the hostess nor were we greeted by the bar tender. The place seemed slow so there was really no excuse for the lack of service. I had to introduce myself to the bartender who was standing awkwardly in front of me trying to avoid eye contact. I tried to say hello but the bartender avoided my greetings. When she finally said hello, there was a lack of eye contact. The beer my wife ordered was the wrong size. And when I tried to grab the bartender's attention to refill my drink, she made eye contact with me and turned away to talk to the other waitress for another 5 minutes. Seriously, hire someone who cares. If you only hire people who show up for a paycheck, your business will suffer. This place doesn't even deserve the 1 star I gave them. read more

Terrible. Terrible customer service. I'm not the one to complain and I actually hate confrontation. However, yesterday was the worst dining experience. We show up and waited for a table, while waiting we decided to order a drink at the bar. The bartender was rude and condescending to my friend while ordering her drink. She served her but ignored me while I was trying to order. She ignored me for 10 minutes and my friend was already finishing her drink. It was so blatantly obvious that the gentlemen next to me noticed and commented something to me about it. I ended up never being served and my friend cashed out. When the bartender gave her her change back she basically chucked it at me and the change went everywhere. not at her. at me. I can honestly say I had the worst steak of my life. Here's the story: It was cool and rainy Gaylord evening. Me and the boys were back from a day of riding, where we'd hit a few mud holes and got a couple of the machines stuck in the pig poo. All and all a good day. We were tired and hungry and ready for a beer and some passable food. I say passable because we knew by not going to one of the two decent restaurants in town (shout out to Benethums and the beaded dog) we weren't going to be in for the greatest. I had no idea what I had in store. We started at b dubbs. Despite being mostly empty, we were told there was a 45 minute wait (and no we couldn't sit at the bar and drink beers...because the kitchen is super busy...and that somehow impacts beer...anyways not the point). We headed over to crapplebees, the only place open past 9, for some nice microwaved apps and a beer. I'll preface this further: I was two edibles in. And I had seen a commercial for the shrimp just before we left the cabin. I was not upset with the choice. As we sat down and got our beer orders in, I scanned the menu. I thought to myself "I've never had a steak from crapplebees. And for only a dollar, I've got some backup shrimp. And how bad could it be? Texas Roadhouse isn't what I'd call expensive, but they serve a solid piece of meat. What the heck, I'll live a little, ribeye it is...after all, whose ever had a ribeye that was bad...I mean I grew up eating my moms cooking. It's hard to phase me." How wrong I was folks. The service was about as good as anywhere these days (in these unprecedented times), and 20 minutes later our food came out. The wait staff waited while I cut the steak open to take a look inside (in the back of my mind I thought about what market research taught them this is a good way to avoid having food sent back...kudos) and what I sliced into seemed decent...a seemingly still pink center in what looked to be a nicely seared exterior. I wrote the elevated effort of getting the knife into the steak off to poor sharpening, shrugged, and moved on to start with the mashed potatoes. Three minutes later I took my first bite. I can't really explain what emotion I felt. It was a lot all at once. The pure surprise of biting into a piece of meat so stiff and chewy when expecting the usual melt in your mouth goodness of a ribeye...the frustration at my poor decision ("shoulda stuck to chicken strips", a voice in the back of my head chastised)...and maybe even a bit of admiration for the marketers that got me to order a steak at crapplebees for (let's be honest) the added benefit of those one-dollar decoy shrimp. And then, I think mostly attributable to the warm introspective mindfulness of the edibles (now fully kicking in) I felt empathy. Empathy for the life of the cow that this steak had come from. What kind of life must that cow have lived to produce a steak this tough? Was this even from a cow? Was I eating the remnants of a pack mule, who at the end of a long and arduous life of pulling stuck farm equipment out of mud died of old age and lay in a field for days, only to have its carcass discovered and sent to the dog food factory, but get diverted along the way so that this ribeye could be taken out of it? Did this pack mule spend its life looking over the fence at the happy healthy cows destine to become steaks at benethums? Did it dream of greener pastures (quite literally) only to have those dreams ripped away? One thing I know for sure: This animal had worked for a living. This thing tasted like it showed up on time at a steel mill every day for 30 years, only to die of a heart attack right before retirement. This wasn't some middle management paper pushing cow. This was a blue collar steak from a blue collar cow, of this I am sure. And so I sat there, chewing through the meat, thinking about all the life decisions that brought me to this moment, and those that brought this steak to the plate, chasing each bite with a sip of beer to make it slide on down. I wondered what role the microwave had in preparation as I can't think of another way that you could do this to meat. We may never know. What I do know for certain: don't order a ribeye at crapplebees. Lesson learned. Mashed potatoes were fire though..a perfect 6 out of 10. read more

We patron this location at least 3+ times a week was in with my daughter this afternoon unfortunately I found a piece of hair in my food at the ending of our meal unfortunately this piece of hair was weaved threw my mashed potatoes And at this point I had probably a half a steak and a serving and a half of mashed potatoes I told our waiter he took the plate from me was gone for a good 15 minutes comes back and says that he has discounted our bill five dollars normally this would not bother me but it was how I was treated in this particular moment as if it was not important enough to management and their team to treat me and my daughter respectfully through this matter I was not even offered a new serving of mashed potatoes or any of my food I just really feel that Applebee's can do better! read more

Great time here with the family. Tasty burgers, awesome apps, can't beat the happy hour! Nothing fancy, but reliable, good food perfect after a long day of snowboarding. Honestly I do not frequent chain restaurants and find the typical experience to be mundane. Cookie cutter aesthetics and often less than desirable service or food. Applebee's like other restaurants of this format seem to be in the constant state of "identity" crisis. Finally in the last 4 years they decided to have each location embody the history or the city in which each location stands. Heavy focus on community and heritage. On the walls were the local high school team sports, images of the nature that is known to the area. Which is a wonderful thing to do to a chain. A local grass roots vibe. The service was fantastic, our waitress was talkative and energetic. We tried the lunch specials and shared my moms favorite dessert at Applebee's the blondie. The endless soup and salad was great for my mom and I had half a sandwich and soup. The drink menu was also a huge improvement from what I once expected from this place. Signature drinks at reasonable price points and craft beer!! Everything was hot and fresh. The restaurant was clean and updated. No complaints here! Was there a few days ago for lunch, wasn't to impressed. Had my 2 young children with me when we entered the establishment, we greeted the hostess, she asked if we mind sitting in the bar section, I declined, so she sat us at a booth (the booth was ripped and patched up with tape), the table was dirty, sticky in spots, and crumbs on the booth. The service wasn't the best, forgot the side of ranch, had to ask for refills, when ordering more chicken tenders and fries, the fries were forgotten, wasn't offered to go boxes had to ask for them. I could understand if the place was extremely busy to forget somethings but that wasn't the case. Did ask to speak with management, not sure if management was advised or they didn't care. However, we did stop here along with a restaurant full of people and found the food and service to be very good. We both had the Broccoli Fettuccine Chicken Alfredo dish.
