this howell applebees was great. every time i have been here the service was beyond great. love how they hire young people. the young man who seated us was very nice. our waiter was very patient, polite and overall kind. wish i was able to get a name to shout him out. the baby back ribs i most of the time get are always so fricken good. to be honest the lemonade was fantastic too. but when i went there last i thought to switch it up so i got the wonton tacos. it was fantastic. sweet, spicy and tangy everything you would want. the inside was nice. bathrooms were well cleaned and overall the restaurant was clean. i will always be a applebees fan! read more

I havent even gotten my food yet and this place is amazing, after waiting a whole day for oreo milk, mouth watering. We finally arrive. me and my group of friends so excited to walk into brownstone for our special event. and they told us to leave "theres nothing we can do". after sobbing for a few minute, we trod on our way to Applebees Howell and in 20 minutes they seat all 50 of us. I'm in a quandary, if you go to a mediocre chain restaurant and the establishment delivers perfectly on their promise of mediocrity, doesn't that brand deserve five stars for executing flawlessly against their formula of complacency and averageness. Wings, a sodium bomb artichoke dip and some Frankenstein concoction called cheeseburger egg rolls. How can you possibly be disappointed when everything on the menu is a hate crime against the culinary arts and frankly, nothing more was ever expected. A member of our family wanted to come to Applebee's because he loves their desserts. From the minute we walked in I can tell this was not going to be a great experience as the lady who sat us was very rude. I am a vegan it was a little hesitant to come here because of their lack of vegan options. I figured I would have broccoli, a baked potato, and a house salad. I asked the waiter what their vegan options were he went to the kitchen and came back and said "as far as they are concerned a house salad would be my only option". They don't even sell baked potatoes, WHAT?? I even brought my vegan butter for a baked potato. So while the family ate a meal which they all said was less then good (the lava cake was dry) I sat there with a house salad and left hungry. The manager came by to see how everything was and I expressed to him that I am a vegan and there are no options for me, he was less than caring and said he would let someone know. I would not recommend this place to anybody, the food was not good (according to the family) and they do not appear to care for their customers. read more

The food was very good. The only problem I had was the confusion with the host when we first went in for a table. We had to wait about twenty minutes. I left the woman my name and number for them to notify me. We waited for a while and then next thing you know a party that came in after us with the same amount of people were called in before us. I questioned the host and she said oh I'm sorry i didn't see you so I called them instead then why did she take my phone number down to notify me when the table was ready. Went with neighbors the other night to take advantage of 1/2 priced appetizers. Not a sound decision on my part. First of all, the place was mobbed with young kids - I am talking about wall to wall patrons that, in some cases were being dropped off by mom or dad. Our waitperson was terrific and told us she would rather have older customers as they tend to tip. Now, on to the appetizers. The spinach dip was good but little more than a sample size. Boneless chicken wings were unimpressive and the tacos were barely spicy - but tasty. Remember, you get what you pay for ... Beer selection was abysmal. so...been going there for a few years my wife and i... my wife had 3 Long Island iced teas, me i had 6 miller lites. (im a fatty 265 lbs) usually there is no problem. tonight the bartender who looked very stressed and over worked was busy so i asked the manager to refill my beer. i guess in his ego he had an issue with refiling my beer ( he seems like he is difficult to work with he always seems annoyed with dealing with people, anyone who usually goes there will know who im talking about) he asked me who is driving i replied we had a ride here so were walking . he then rolled his eyes and refilled my beer. i gotta say this was awkward because he knows were always there. anyway if he really cared why would i get served 6 miller lites! seems he was just busting me! read more

I was standing at the pick up order area and there a sign stating that you can't grab your own food. Mine was the only one on the shelf I had no choice but to grab my own. Alrighty. I gave them two stars to be nice. My food and my older sister's food was alright but my other older sister was terrible. They gave her a raw buffalo chicken burger, and we tried cutting it and it wouldn't cut at all. It was rubbery and squishy. Our waiter was very kind and it's not his fault. We did call the manager to tell them about it and show them, and we told them to be careful next time. We didnt have to pay for it so that's good. And they made another burger for us and gave it to my sister for free. My older sister didn't say anything at first because she really doesn't like complaining but I don't want anyone to get sick or get a stomachache because of this. You know what you're getting here. Typical restaurant chain, mediocre, uninspired foodstuff. As long as you're good with that, you're fine. The service I've had here the last couple times I've been here has been pretty good. No empty beverage glasses or missing servers. They hire special people as greeters, which is awesome. I love to see that. And the decor here is the typical local sports team photos to give a local feel while your money goes into the corporate coffers. The food? Well....bland, boring, dull. Typical for these types of places. But they do it well. It's hot and served quickly. As I said, if you go in with low standards you won't be disappointed. I will say the people that work here are great. 5 stars for them. read more

Applebees. The ubiquitous watering hole to the masses. You can't miss them. A group of friends decided to meet for a holiday luncheon there yesterday. There were eight of us dining. Now being an Applebee's, my expectations weren't too high. I expected to get a decent lunch with no surprises. That was pretty much what I got. Well, maybe a surprise. I had the grilled chicken caesar salad. It was good. Chicken was moist, salad dressing good, even real flakes of Parmesan on it. One of us had the broccoli cheese soup which was good. One of us got the oriental salad but complained there wasn't enough lettuce in it. One got a burger that was described as "ok but I could make it better myself." So with the food being pretty much what we expected we move on to the service. Our order was taken in a timely manner. Appys came out when expected. Entreés however came out in three installments. 4 salads were served first. There was a 10 minute gap until the burger and other food came out. We had to ask where the last salad was before they brought it out. They apologized for the mishap and took the charge off the bill. Some of us griped but considering it was an Applebees, I thought it was pretty good. read more

Went there for 1/2 prices apps and wings with my boyfriend and his sister. At first the service was fine until my boyfriend asked for a 4th alcoholic beverage and our waiter (Aidan) went over to the manager. The manager Virginia came over and told my boyfriend she wasn't gonna service him another drink "because he looks young" upon ordering his first drink our waiter checked his ID. We weren't being loud or causing a disturbance and we were just trying to enjoy some food and drinks. I understand that restaurants can cut people off when they are showing signs of intoxication, but after 2 hours of being there how can the manager cut someone off because they "look young". She also mentioned that he drank "too much" in "a certain amount of time". I didn't know there was a time limit of how many drinks you can have in a certain amount of time when you are paying $10+ per drink. I don't see the reason why our waiter went to the manager since my boyfriend was just sitting there eating and drinking. About a week ago we went to the same location and had no problems when both me and my boyfriend had 3+ drinks in the same amount of time. Whole situation felt a little ridiculous but we didn't argue or cause a problem but when someone is of age and is acting completely normal how can they choose to cut someone off based on how young they look. read more

Very disturbing experience last night. Was chatting with my friend after ordering our drinks and she just looks at me and says "don't move!" so naturally, i move, and she's like "that huge bug was just on your shoulder!" i look down at the corner of the table and i see a large bug for a split second and then she quickly tries to kill it with the pepper shaker.....when i lift the pepper shaker, the bug runs away. it was a cockroach. i am so horrified. i got up quietly, told the hostess what had happened and left immediately. Havent been back to Applebee's since covid....we originally planned to go to texas roadhouse but they had a wait...we should have waited...food was sub par, kids food menu at best, stuck us in a corner where the the bartender was our server...she was too busy making drinks for the whole restaurant to take care of us, failure from above...manager came over and sealed the deal, nice guy, but the meal was already shit and ruined....as was the service....take your money to mom and pop shops, or if you're going to a chain...make sure its not applebees.....go down theblock to texas roadhouse...cheaper and better food read more

So my two friends and I went to Applebee's to celebrate my one friends' birthday. I went to the bathroom as I arrived and we were told that our waitress would be with us shortly. I came back from the bathroom as the hostess came out asking for our drink order. My friend and I were done drinking for the night so we only ordered waters from the hostess who substituted our waitress because we planned on only ordering apps. The birthday boy ordered a blue Hawaiian and the hostess replied "fuck it" in response to him pulling out his id. The waitress that eventually came never mentioned the drink specials which, if never mentioned, we were to get a free appetizer. We told her and she denied that she said it, but we deserved our free appetizer since she never mentioned it. I usually never write bad reviews but I was appalled by the service I received from Caroline at Applebee's. Caroline was rude, demeaning and clearly not paying any respect to our table because of our age (21 and our friend who turned 22). I always believe in tipping waitresses because I was one once. But if I treated someone the way Caroline treated my friends and I, on my friends birthday nonetheless, I wouldn't deserve the money either. We did get a free appetizer from another table who saw the massacre take place and gave us there's that they hadn't even touched, that they have gotten for free. Overall, terrible service. We left after my friend finished his drink and we ate our free spinach dip. read more

It's an Applebee's; it's what you would expect from a chain restaurant -- food, ambience, service etc. It's not the best tasting, high-quality food but it will definitely hit the spot if you're craving it and the service can be a hit or miss. The spinach and artichoke dip is my go-to when I come for half-off apps. I'll usually get a burger along with the dip. I've gotten their pastas before but I feel like they always hold out on the proteins. With 3-4 small pieces of chicken I've always been unsatisfied after eating a pasta dish. The chicken itself usually tastes like ready-made, microwaveable meat. Service is mostly good when I visit; Our waiters have always been friendly and very attentive to the table but sometimes food comes out of the kitchen pretty slowly. During our last visit the waiter was very friendly and our orders came out on time. For an Applebee's this one has the best service of any other I've been to. Food is about the same. read more

When you go to a restaurant there are several factors that influence your opinion of it. Service, food, cleanliness, etc. And in some cases when one of those things shine it allows you to overlook the things that weren't that good. But in the case of Applebee's, everything is just mediocre. Doesn't anyone smile anymore? Do I really have to deal with a snotty hostess rolling her eyes at me because I request a booth away from the bar in a half empty restaurant? At least our server smiled. Although he seemed to be in another world half the time causing him to forget things. But at least he was apologetic. Ok, so the service isn't the best, maybe the food will make up for it in some small way. It's as basic as food gets here at your friendly neighbourhood Applebees, so it should be able to be prepared with ease. However, the simplicity of how long to cook a chicken breast before it turns into cardboard seems to have escaped the cooks memory. Dry chicken, underdone potatoes, hard churros for desert, dirty bathroom, underwhelming service. The only good thing is that you already expect to have a mediocre meal before you even walk through the door. It just disappoints that there really isn't one good thing that allows you to overlook something bad. read more

Tonight I ordered the four cheese mac and cheese with honey pepper chicken. I was expecting a savory mac and cheese dish with savory/sweet tenders. The tenders were okay, a little sweet for my taste but they were cooked well. The mac and cheese on the other hand literally had no cheese. It was plain boiled penne pasta with an unpleasantly sweet sauce at the bottom of the container. How can you call something mac and cheese and not put cheese in the dish (and its called 4 cheese mac and cheese to say the least). Very disappointed, 100% a waste of money. UGH! read more
