Wait staff is top notch, but the general kitchen staff can't cook a 4oz kids steak. After two strikes, I sent it back and told them to butterfly it... A smart ass in the kitchen decide to send back a charcoal brick because he was too lazy to temp the steaks properly. Applebee's has great food. Has been one of my favorite restaurants for a long time. I'm sadden that there is none around me

I have been to this Applebee's location multiple times with pretty decent service, but tonight was not decent. Me and 2 friends gets there around 10:30 maybe 10:45 and the place is pretty empty, we are sat down and our waitress comes up and we put in our drink orders. She comes back a little later and we place our meal orders. We wait about 15/20 minutes and then our food comes out. First our waitress dropped some of my friends fries, which at the time was no big deal. Then I cut into my steak and it is RAW. Not like a little pink, my sirloin was still mooing. So I send it back, no big deal I get it back and it's fine. My other friends pasta was undercooked. We all finish our sub-par meals and very quickly want to leave so we ask for the bill. My bill had come to $12.70 and I paid with a $20, my other friend also paid with a $20 and some change. When we received our change, not only did she not give us our receipts back, but she also did not give the change to the person it was meant for. We look at our change and notice that it 1) is not the correct amount and 2) there is no change for my bill. My friend had received $7 when she should have gotten back $9 and I received $4 when I should have gotten back $7.30. So we call our waitress, Rachel, with the tablet thing and she seemed to be ignoring us. It took at least 10 minutes (and a bartender going to get her attention) for her to come over to our table. So she comes up and we explain what happened and she looks at us with this "huh?" look on her face and says "what? I put it in on the register it should be right" so she goes to look for our receipts (IN THE TRASH) and she brings them over and gives us our proper change amount, very hesitantly. We thanked her and we were about to put our tip on the table and leave when she says "I sure hope I'm not getting gypped!" Um WHAT??! Now I know we are teenagers, but there is NO REASON to accuse us of stealing, we paid our bill fair and square and didn't receive the proper amount of change. Needless to say, will not be returning any time soon, especially if there's a possibility to have Rachel as a server again! read more

To me all Applebee's are the same. They have the same calorie loaded bland food and the same 'Taking my aunt to lunch here because she loves this place so much' feel to them. Do I still stop in there? Yeah. And 9 times out of 10 it's the same good experience despite all Applebee's has going against it. But the last time I stopped into this particular Applebee's it was here and this location is where decent service goes to die. Our group was one of five tables there (our group of eight being the only table with more than two people). And we waited forever for our food, weren't offered drink refills, had to hunt someone down for our bill, and could not wait to get out of there. The waitresses were just hanging out around the bar so it's not like they were busy. You disappoint Applebee's. Your service was bad and you should be embarrassed. read more

Terrible hostess. Can't expect fine dining from a neighborhood applebees, but the hostess seated friends and family (a party of 8, though only 2 were present) before other customers, and told everyone who walked in that the wait would be "only 15 minutes" before we all sat there for 45. I have been coming here since high school, but have not dined here in about a year. It will likely be another year before I give it another try. See you next mother's day! read more

Ya...... So I kind of found sand in my food, with some nice sized pebbles that could have chipped a tooth. Also, watched one of the servers pick up his tip from an 8 top that had a bill of $100. First time into an Applebee's in years. Gift card for Christmas so wife and I gave it a shot. Outside and inside was nice and clean. Family friendly environment. Bathroom was well maintained. Service at the bar on a Sunday at 7pm was busy and fast. Bartender and staff seemed overwhelmed overworked and understaffed. Bartender repeatedly made comments about lack of staffing support. Drinks were quick and accurate. Food specials were advertised and encouraged by bartender. Wife's fajitas were too salty, beef was well done not rare as she asked and had random cheese "goo" on it. I was excited to try the endless appetizers. I started with the boneless wings. Wings were way too salty. I ate two pieces before changing to ribs. Ribs were ok but had a strange artificial smoky flavor and had random shards of bone in them. Finally switched to the last option; the battered shrimp. The shrimp not only was too salty again but tasted freezer burned and rubbery. I would classify the shrimp as inedible and I almost gagged on it. Completely gross food all around. $12.99 for endless appetizers and the end came quick without finishing a plate. Staff and support your crew Applebee's and please make food that is more satisfying. Your competition is out of the 90s and you need to be too. Make real food. Not frozen salty garbage. read more

I have a gluten and dairy allergy, so eating out is REALLY difficult. While I was in town visiting my family, we decided to stop at the local Applebee's. A favorite place my parents like to go for 1/2 off appetizers. After scanning the menu over and over for something I could have, my dad suggested the Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp. However, the entree was cooked in butter, etc. I asked the server if they could swap out the potatoes for broccoli as well as make it without butter (dry). She insisted it would be okay. She came back a few minutes later to inform us that she told her manager about my allergies and that he himself would be preparing my meal. I was blown away! The manager was super nice and even checked to make sure I was okay. It made eating out a pleasure. Thanks again! read more

All the amenities of a typical chain restaurant, but this one takes it a step further on Wednesday nights with karaoke and a really potent margarita. Also, being a returning Lapeer local, I thoroughly enjoy the vintage Lapeer East/West high school decor. Employees are always nice and have gone out of their way to learn my name. The bar manager has always expressed his personal interest into the establishment's high service quality. This place had a rocky start after change of management but it's great now :) Applebee's is one of my favorites and I have only ever had few problems at this location and every time the problem is quickly fixed! John the manager is an awesome guy my little brother is 2 and he was having a meltdown because he was tired john brought over and applesauce to try and make him happy he also talked and tried to calm him down! "low bill" is the new commercial advertisement for Applebees. $10.00 for a NON-GOURMET club sandwich doesn't seem like a low bill to me. Fries come in frozen, not freshly cut on site. Last time I was at "Cheesecake Factory", I ordered a club sandwich. It came with bread that was buttered and grilled, special Chipotle Aioli, was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, and was only $9.00... read more

How many times does a customers have to ask for a clean silverware before the waitress figures out that the dishwasher has a problem? Apparently more than 7 times. I traveled across the country and always looked for an Applebee's to dine at. Little did I know, that the absolute worst Applebee's is in my home town. On Sunday February 12, 2012, my friend Linda with her son and I, went to Applebee's in Lapeer. We waited 40 minutes for a table. After we were seated, we discussed the menu and ordered. I decided to unwrap my utensils from the napkin. I found a haze and flecks of food on the steak knife. We inspected them all at the table. All were dirty. We informed the waitress and were given 3 more. Again, we inspected them all. All were dirty. This happened a total of 5 times. I took the last offending knife (#5) to the bar and asked to see the manager. I showed the blue eye shadowed female Manager the offending steak knife and told her about the 5 changes of utensils. She was unaffected and really not interested. So I went back to the table and asked other waitstaff for more utensils. We received a total of 21 (3 x 7= 21) unclean forks and steaks knifes. We decided to leave. I am not upset about the dirty utensils (shit happens, dishwasher break) but how the staff didn't react or take care of the problem. Have you trained the waitstaff? Have you trained the manager? If you can't get the silverware clean, what are you cooking in? This is really inexcusable. read more

We have been here several times food is good for a chain restaurant. Younger crowd do enjoy that gives the place a great vibe! Drinks always a great special. So make sure you stop in and enjoy the food the crowd and the fantastic staff. read more

The restaurant was pretty clean and as soon we walk in we were greeted by a hostess and taken to our table immediately. The waitress and staff were nice and helpful. This place is very dirty. When my salad came out it had chocolate sauce all over the inside. The wings were very dry and over cooked. The celery they put in the wings were brown and wilted. Very cramped compared to other Applebees locations. No matter where you are sitting it feels like you are right on top of each other. Let alone the people who are waiting to be seated are right there in the dining area. read more

New char grilled food is amazing but honestly service sucks! And portions have been cut down as well. Our bill rang up to be $100 family of 7 very well behaved not rowdy at all. My dad usually tips very very well. Our waitress was rude at first and treated us like we were a hassle. Then she was literally gone for 1 hour after she gave us our food. She came back with the bills and hour later all smiling and giggling. Like I said food is good but servers care more about there tips and don't give a rats butt about the company. read more

I had the salmon which was overcooked and not tender and had a hard crust like shell almost on the outside, and this isn't the only time I've had problems with their grilled menu . Applebees has great food but the management at the Lapeer Michigan establishment sucks. We will not be eating there again until the managment changes. We called to ask about catering for our wedding rehersal and the manager was very inhospitable. He was rude and didn't want to help unless we knew exactly what we wanted. He answered our questions in a tone and manner to belittle us. When we asked about pricing his answer was that it's all online. Will not be using your service for anything. Good job losing customers. Applebees may want to think about some customer relations training when they hire assholes. read more

We went there this afternoon, Both my Son and I ordered their Shrimp and Parm Sirloin steak. We have been eating this particular menu item for years. No more! The Steak itself has been changed. It is smaller and tougher, very chewy. The quality, I am guessing across the chain is deteriorating badly and the portions getting smaller and smaller.We asked if they had any other cut of steak besides a top sirloin, which is not a great quality steak and were told NO they did not have any other cut any more. Both of us ordered out steaks Rare. When they came to the table they were less then 1/2 in thick and they were both almost well done. We sent them back. They arrived again, we cut into them and the waitress decided they were rare. they were not. Both again were med to med rare but we decided if we ever wanted to eat we had better accept them, so we did. The steaks were very chewy(tough) and I ended up giving mine to my husband because I just could not eat it.The red potatoes were very salty and half raw. the broccoli was almost none existent. I think we are done with the Applebees chain as a whole. We used to go there weekly, but that is done now. The waitress was nice and efficient however she doesn't know what a rare steak should be. read more

As always, consistent food quality with other stores. It's a shame this one was so dirty. We (family with small kids) stopped for an early lunch last weekend. Got a quiet booth on the end and had to request a highchair for my 18mo old. When the brought the chair, not only was it uncleaned from the last use, it was disgusting. Why does the staff think I'm going to put my kid in this slop covered chair? I asked politely to have it wiped down and was told it looks dirty because of the texture. How stupid do they think I am? I had the girl return and wipe the entire seating area only to have to ask that she also wipe the crusted food bits off the front guard. I then looked over and noticed the empty tables across from us also were dirty, someone has just put placemats and flatware packs on dirty table tops. I mentioned to our server about the uncleaned tables and food bits on the seats and she just blew us off, said it's just the glare from the windows. WHAT KIND OF PLACE is this? I'm not a germaphobe, but common decency is to at least wipe the previous diners mess from the table tops. Now I wonder if the kitchen staff is this unsanitary too? read more
