We gave it a second try just because we wanted it to be a bad night but visit 2 was as bad as visit 1. 1. Music was deafeningly loud. 2. Meal took over 30 minutes to get to our table. It was not an overly busy night. 3. My husband's steak was so tough i had to use a sharpened butcher knife to cut it for the dogs. SEVERE SAFETY & CONDUCT ISSUES ON LATE-NIGHT SHIFT (8/28) I am deeply disappointed to write this, especially since I submitted an outstanding 5-star review of this exact property about two months ago praising the wonderful manager and server on duty at that time. Unfortunately, the late-night shift on Friday, August 28, demonstrated a shocking and dangerous breakdown in corporate standards and guest safety.I am a 67-year-old senior citizen, and I was dining with my two adult children between 11:40 PM and 12:14 AM. Because it was late, and it was listed as being open until. I deliberately approached the bartender before sitting down to make sure the kitchen still open, and we were not an inconvenience. During our visit, a male staff member displayed extreme, unprovoked verbal hostility. When I politely asked for clarification regarding his rude comments, he weaponized my age against me and aggressively told me "to act my age", when I commented that I've never received a check before my food before. The situation escalated from verbal harassment to physical aggression when the employee explicitly violated my personal safety by grabbing my arm to force a beverage glass out of my hand while it still had two inches of liquid left. To make matters worse, the employee actively attempted to hide his identity. We repeatedly asked for a standard receipt to get his name, but after three distinct requests, he deliberately handed us a bartender's transaction list that omitted his name entirely. Because he refused to provide his name, we were forced to take a photograph of his face on-site to preserve for formal corporate and legal reports. This individual also repeatedly abandoned his post to take frequent 5-minute breaks outside with a group of buddies (suspected on-duty vape/substance impairment), and his erratic behavior was a clear public safety risk. If you are a senior citizen or visiting with family, please be extremely cautious about patronizing this location during the late-night hours. The current staff on this shift entirely failed to maintain a safe, respectful, or professional environment. Corporate guest relations and risk management have been formally notified with photographic evidence, and a report is being filed with law enforcement regarding the unwanted physical contact. read more

Called this place before heading there to ask about their wait time. Lady who answered the phone said there was no wait time and asked if we would be coming, i was there in less than 5 minutes and then proceeded to stand at the door with my family for 10 minutes where the sign stated to wait to be seated. No one even acknowledged us. The restaurant was pretty empty. I would have been fine with waiting if they had greeted and asked for me to wait longer to be seated. While I waited i asked for another party that was already seated calling for the server who passive aggressively responded that she was their server and would be right with them. I usually love local Applebees in my zone. But this one majorly dropped the ball. My first clue was when the bar was completely dead during lunch. The one near me is always slammed. The bartender mentioned a new watermelon marg, which I enjoyed. I also enjoyed the sweet and spicy grilled chicken. But that is where the good points end. The bartender hardly came around, and when she did, she would push some charity for a lemonade stand. I donate only to charities I know personally. When I asked to cash out, she asked If I was going to donate. I responded not today. Instead of cashing me out, she walked off. How rude! I had to flag her down and remind her I was ready to check out. There is no quicker way to run off customers than pushing unknown charities and acting rude when they decline.I don't see ever returning to this location. If I could leave no stars, I would. My family of 9 were visiting Portland and visited several restaurants. Went for lunch, should have been no wait time. So lady asked how many, I said "9". She said we would have a 15-20 mins wait. Crazy part is, I'm looking around and there's plenty of open seats to accommodate us. Took mom out for a quick lunch to this fun restaurant. One of the few in the area in which you can have a reasonable conversation with out booming music and people attempting talking over the sound! At least at lunch anyway. Tons of TVs and usual Applebees decor. I had the oriental chicken salad lunch version , mom had the basal tomato soup (she loved it) and my wife had the cheese burger well done and liked it very much. Host seemed super annoyed we were there and upset that I asked for a high chair for our baby, made a big deal about the high chair being in a 'high traffic' area and that she would need to push it in so we said okay no problem! Once we stepped in to Applebees's we were greeted by the hostess and he went to get our table ready, totally different from Dennys. I was there Saturday for lunch and it was a complete and total shit show. They were not that busy but yet wait staff had a hard time keeping up with the tables that they did have. As an Applebee's it's an overall average. I had the cedar salmon with fire grilled veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. The salmon had that tasty grill flavor but lacked seasoning. Next time I'll ask for lime! The veggies fell way short. Some were nicely grilled and others were completely hard like they've never been cooked. Add on the fact they had no seasoning at all. No salt or pepper even. The potatoes were a solid side. These are consistent no matter what Applebee's you go to. I love them. For dessert I had the brownie bite as It was just me. We are traveling and it was late so we decided to eat at Applebees. Great decision o had their salmon with green beans and mashed potatoes and all three were very good!
