My 16 yr old got the boneless nuggets honey bbq for his first serving and fried shrimp for next and for his final bbq chicken. When I asked him what he thought...... chicken was good, I won't get the shrimp again. Did he get his $15.99 worth of food. Maybe. My wife got the same special but she only had one serving of hot chicken. Did she get her $15.99 worth of food? I think not. LOL. I got the steak and parm shrimp platter and it was very good. I tried the new O-M-Cheeseburger on the skillet. The picture shows it sitting on a skillet full of gooey cheese. WRONG! It came on a skillet full of burnt cheese I could barely scrape off the skillet and the burger was extra extra well done. It's hit or miss with this Applebee's. Came here for Sunday dinner because we were in the area. Frozen strawberry margarita was very good. Cup of chicken tortilla soup was okay and served hot, which we loved. Chicken quesadilla we shared was okay. Tortilla needed more grilling, which would've made big difference. Grilled chicken breast entree was very good. Chicken was good, garlic mashed potatoes were good, steamed broccoli was very good. Warm cinnabon mini swirls fried and dusted with cinnamon sugar with caramel & cream cheese frosting on the side for dipping was dessert. It was a sweet way to end the meal. Brother enjoyed triple chocolate meltdown, which is warm, fudge-filled chocolate cake drizzled with hot fudge and served with vanilla ice cream. It's been a few years and we thought we'd try again. How does this place keep getting worse? App of warm pretzels with cheese: Mediocre. The pretzels were alright but tasted more "bread-y" than like pretzels. The cheese sauce was bland and not mixed properly, ie both watery and lumpy. Meals were all versions of the bacon ranch chicken sandwich: No problem with substituting grilled for crispy, or even potato bread for brioche bun. But there's barely any ranch on it so you need to know to ask for extra. Otherwise it's decent. But frankly it's still mediocre, TGI Fridays is better. Dessert of blondie ice cream sundae: my friend ordered this for her app (lol). She loves it and this time was no exception. Service: This was the biggest problem. Our waitress was friendly and helpful, then she got pulled to do the bar. She never checked on us after that. We waited 10-15 mins after getting our food because we needed more ranch and ZERO staff checked on us despite sitting there clearly not eating our sandwiches. I finally got annoyed and grabbed the next staff walking past to ask for some (turned out to be a busboy). We watched him tell our waitress, then the manager, and NO ONE came over or brought us any. My husband had to get up and speak directly to the manager, who came over a couple mins later and proceeded to get defensive when she was called out for how poorly the transition of our waitress was being handled. Oh and the amount of ranch is standard (the small amount you see on top is also on the bottom). We attempted to get contact info for her boss but conveniently this somehow went to her office where she was visibly waiting to answer the phone. The waitress came over at this point and was still nice, she was the one who offered something to make up for our experience (we accepted a meal being removed from the bill). Here's the thing. We're reasonable people. We don't expect staff to drop what they're doing to cater to us. But the fact is we didn't get reasonable service. The waitress was nice but she knew she had tables - she could've had a bar patron wait to check on us, or even speak to us from over the bar since it was a clear view being seated in the bar area with no patrons between her and us. She or the manager could've reassigned the table to someone else, or had another staff person check on us. But none of these things happened. Instead we watched all of them deliberately avoid eye contact and somehow also completely miss our hands waving to get attention. I am absolutely done with giving this chain any more money. I won't speak about other locations, but if you're smart you'll avoid the Quakertown PA Applebees. read more

Quick seating on a weekday night. Waitress was very friendly and service quick. I had a burger "with pink" ( option was with pink or no pink). Burger was good but a bit too raw. The Quakertown location was disgusting at our latest-- and last-- visit. By disgusting I mean filthy filthy carpets and dead flies and straw wrappers on the windowsills dirty. So we were on the way back from a weekend junket and the children started screaming hunger. Unfortunately this place was on the horizon and I made the mistake of being talked into going. My hatred for Applebee's knows no boundaries as every one of the local ones I've been to all have major issues with suck service (Motel Dr.) or suck food (Rt. 191) and I've sworn them off as a chain but to avoid a mutiny I acquiesced to the masses and gave in. Much to my wallet's disappointment. Our server was having "issues" today that were non-work related and clearly she was mailing it in performance wise. Even though she left about 2/3 of the way through the meal the damage was done. She did everything from forgetting to collect the menus until our food came to serving some of the most over cooked and over done chicken fingers ever. Even after we sent them back the next batch was only a half a notch better than the last ones as they were still over seasoned (like all Applebee's food), over cooked, and seriously dry. But apparently that was the best the kitchen could do. Drink refills? Forgetabouit. The rest of the meals were unremarkable enough to skip mentioning and any FOH management was invisible but then again with how over cooked, dry, and seasoned the food was apparently any BOH management was also asleep as well. Went here for my lunch on my son's 12th birthday. The hostess saw that my grandmother had a cane and took it upon herself to make sure the seats we got were easily accessible for her. However, my son, who has autism, was afraid of that particular spot due to it being a bit louder. She let him pick from all the available booths in the restaurant and wished him a happy birthday. Stopped in for a group dinner after another local place said they could not accommodate us. This place has a very friendly staff and they were highly accommodating. Nikki was top notch. She kept the food flowing and made sure we were never thirsty. I have to say, everything came out great; we even hung out at the bar afterwards to watch an NHL playoff game. I'm going to say that my experience at Applebee's a few nights ago was positive. And coming from me, given my general disdain for chain restaurants, that means something. It also means something because the last time I ate at an Applebee's I said that I would never go back. I don't know if this particular location is better than the one I'd been to previously or I just caught things on a good night, but I was satisfied. The staff at Applebee's is young, but really friendly. At some places the young staff people can have poor attitude, but that was not the case here -- I would go so far as to say that they were upbeat. If they were faking it, A for effort. I was impressed -- one of the greeters even held the door for me as I was walking in. We had the spinach artichoke dip appetizer and I had the fish and chips as my meal. I did not win any good decision awards for health that night, but I was happy with the meal. The food wasn't amazing, but it was hot and presented nicely -- I received what I was expecting and felt full when all was said and done. Our server was friendly and attentive, but as my friend and I stayed to talk for a while, the service kind of fell off a bit at the end. She brought our check right after the meal and later we ended up ordering a coffee (we had to flag her down as she wasn't really stopping by anymore at that point). She also stopped refilling our waters. So anyway, I've lifted my personal Applebee's ban. I think they've made some improvements to their menu and because there's an Applebee's in practically every town, it will be nice to have them as a familiar standby if ever needed in the future. read more
