I stopped here on my drive back from NY for a late dinner before I went to the hotel to crash for the night. We got there and luckily it wasn't crowded so we didn't have to wait. The server we got was very friendly and attentive. I ordered boneless buffalo wings as a appetizer and was surprised at the size of the portion. It was bigger then I expected. I also ordered a burger it was ok kinda dry but it wasn't that bad and it was what I needed after driving all day. Came in at 9pm on a weekday. Very few customers but 90% of tables were uncleared from previous diners. Sat ourselves after 5 minutes of being ignored, and weren't acknowledged for another 10 minutes. One table near us ordered and were waiting so long they left before their food came out. Seems like there are plenty of staff working, but only one taking and delivering orders. I don't expect a 5-star experience from an Applebee's, but this was really disappointing. I'm sure there are plenty other places around so avoid this one. read more

First off this experience at Applebee's prompted me to download this app and write my first online review on a restaurant. Five of us we're seated around 11:20 to 11:30 at night and two other tables had been seated after us and both got there food and one table was getting up to leave when we finally got our foods round 12:15. In top of that one person we were with ordered wings and when everyone at our table got our food but him he asked the manager ( who brought out the food ) where are my wings and she said " oh she didn't tell you ? We don't have any wings"! The manager didn't give a shit at all when she brought the food out. i dont eat meat. That said, i try not to avoid certain restaurants (like this one), but when we have family events this is sometimes the go to place. I cant even order pasta without chicken in it , whic leads me to believe it is pre-prepared frozen and not freshly made as they claim. Is the whole thing frozen and just reheated?. or i can swap the side of meat in the dish with a french fries? to be sure the fries are cheaper right? they dont even try to work with me. The only thing i can order here is their terrible cesar salad (romaine slightly wilted/soggy like it was kept too cold and started to freeze with stale croutons. Stopped in for a quick bite during a long road trip. Before we sat down, my friend stopped at the ladies room. She returned saying the bathroom smelled exactly like a litter box and in walking back the floor was so sticky that her shoes were being pulled off her feet. Actually, it can depend on the particular Applebee's which means the local management plays a big part in the ratings. Highest could be 4 star and lowest is 2 star. This one was so so for service and for food. Wish there was more consistency from one to another. The one in The Villages, FL is pretty good most of the time. read more

The manager and servers were absolutely great!!!!!! After a long day of driving we arrived at the hotel and ran over to Apple Bees for dinner.......we were welcomed with southern hospatility which made us feel at home. The server was polite and helped us with the kids Menu. One of The kids had and accident with the milk and really got me upset.......the manager came by and quickly and helped. He even put us in a good mood by putting the situation in a perspective that made us laughed about it and put us in a great mood. I wish zero was an option. I was prompt sat upon walking in shortly after 8 pm. An elderly couple was sat immediately after me. I don't know if I was in the edge of two sections and they each thought the other was helping me... At least the elderly couple was attended to. Place was about 1/4 full. I had 2 different servers walk by a few times and what appeared to be a manager running food out to customers. I had a closed menu in front of me signifying my readiness to order. Food was well prepared, but operations were a hot mess. Literally. It was about 90 degrees in the restaurant. Usually, I don't complain about service, but after taking a long time to get to us, our server didn't know the menu, any salad dressing available other than ranch, or how to take an order for their 2 for $25 deal. Then, it took her 10 minutes at the computer to enter it. Two of us ordered salads with our entrees, but when they came, one was half the size of the other. One of our party of 4 got their food 10 minutes before the rest of us, and one order arrived without sides. Ordered Carside. Waited outside for 20 minutes after time on order confirmation on when to expect it. Noticed by 3 different waitresses none reacted. Went inside to inquire. Told sorry you should have come in sooner because we are too busy to deliver carside. Huh? Needless to say not a great experience and will probably not use Applebee's carside anymore. My husband and I stopped at this Applebee's while driving home from a vacation in Virginia Beach. She and I have eaten at Applebee's in NC and other states in the past with no complaints. This Applebee's only can be described as pitiful and depressing. Here, though, service was extremely slow, and we watched one man and his daughter leave in disgust after waiting an inordinately long time for initial service. He had to bus his own table, which brings up the issue of hygiene. No one on the staff made any attempt to bus ANY tables during the hour or so we were there. There was a table full of used dishware and glasses next to us that was there when we arrived, and it still had not been cleared away when we left. Both bathrooms were EXTREMELY hot, with heated air blowing actively into them. The manager, a young woman, was sympathetic but maintained that she was unable to help because the restaurant became cold when they reduced the heat in the bathrooms. Solution: call an HVAC company! The men's room had soap in only one of two dispensers and the women's room was out of toilet tissue in my stall. I would not return to this restaurant under any circumstances. If general management does not step in and set this place straight with a trained manager, they will lose it for sure. I do not expect a chain restaurant to be fine dining, but I do expect a CLEAN environment and service within a reasonable amount of time.The food was o.k. (nothing to write home about), but this was totally outweighed by the lack of hygiene and the disorganized, ineffective performance of the staff. The manager was waiting tables like a server instead of managing! It is obvious that she does not have control of her restaurant. When we left, the parking lot of Logan's Roadhouse next door was full; Applebee's lot was more than half empty and this was at ~7::00 p.m. when they should have been at their peak. read more

Hi Mr Dickens I stopped by your restaurant today @ approximately 11:46 am to place to go order for my niece and nephew. When traveling to South Carolina, I always stop at exit 173, my favorite exit off 95, to go to Starbucks or Chil-Fil-A. I stopped today to pick up some lunch for my niece & nephew who don't like or eat fast food. My original intent was to go to Logan's, but noticed the Applebee's and changed my mind. The greeters at the door were enthusiastic and I said, it is so nice to be back in the South. I told them I wanted to place a to go order and was directed towards Michelle W at the bar. When placing the order I could barely hear Michelle, it sound as though something was wrong with her voice or she just spoke at a low tone. Her working at the bar location, probably not a good idea. I told her that we would return to pick up order after going to Starbucks. We returned approximately 12-15 minutes later. I went to the bar to pick up food. Michelle just gave me the bag and drinks and immediately turned around and left before I could check my order. I checked the order and my nephew said they gave me chocolate milk, and he specifically ask for white milk. Just the basic items were not included in the bag, flatware, napkins, sauce for my niece's mozzarella sticks, ketchup for my nephew's French fries and corn dog. I had to wait about 5-7 minutes to get her attention. I ask for some ranch dressing and ketchup, and that my nephew ask for white milk, it literally took her 10 minutes or more to bring the condiment items back. She hands them to me and I reminded her about the milk. I said thank you, no response and she was walking away. I said, excuse me can I get some napkins please? She walks over grabs the napkins and just hands them to me. I said thank you and left. Because I had to remind her about those things, I forgot to ask for flatware for my niece. Customer service is definitely not a priority at this Applebee's location. She felt comfortable with her behavior and providing good customer service was not a concern for her. Bottom line: It was a not so nice customer service experience, based on her behavior, she felt comfortable enough with her lack of customer service. Often times people just leave frustrated or post on the company's social media account to share their experience for a whole lot of other people to read about. I saw your message at the bottom of the receipt and thought to myself, that rarely will the owner of a restaurant provide their cell number. If my niece and nephew had not been with me, I would probably had ask for the manager and then go on my social media accounts and share my bad experience. Because they were hungry and not to fond of the long car ride. I left and decided I would send a text instead. Avoid this place entirely. Unlike most of the other reviewers who stopped off on a road trip, I actually live in this town. My wife and I were out taking care of a few things, when we both agreed that a chicken Caesar salad sounded good for dinner, and Applebee's happened to be the closest place either of us could think of that we knew for a fact had this on the menu, so we went there. This was the first time either of us had been there in years, and we were about to remember why. My wife, 2 kids and I got there at almost exactly 5:45, the place is mostly empty - maybe 5 tables at most are filled. After ordering... it takes nearly 45 minutes to receive our food, during which time our waitress apparently disappeared to Narnia or something, because we never saw her anywhere in the restaurant until our food was finally brought out. The Chicken Caesar Salads my wife and I received were small - really small. I'm talking like side salad sized here. There was barely any dressing on them. My 5 year old daughter got the Mac 'n Cheese she wanted, which as it turns out was quite literally Easy Mac - and it clearly wasn't even freshly made either as it had that "congealed, been reheated" texture Mac 'n Cheese gets when it's been reheated in a microwave. My 8 year old son's meal was the only decent one, 3 chicken strips and fries. Oh, did I mention that at no point in that 45 minute wait did the appetizer we ordered ever appear? For all of this disappointment, we got the honor of a bill that was nearly $40. How the hell is this place still in business? Really. I'm not kidding. Don't come here. NEVER come here. Especially not with kids. My husband and I stop in Roanoke Rapids pretty much every time we drive back from Florida, and twice we have stopped here. The second time, we had our daughter, who was almost two at the time (it was October 2012.) Both times we got poor service, but the second time stood out in my mind because we ordered mashed potatoes for my daughter. They came out approximately 45 minutes later and were dark brown on top, obviously from sitting under the heat lamps for too long. I was blown away that they actually served them to us looking like that, but I took a small spoonful out and blew on them and then gave the bite to my daughter. She started screaming like bloody murder, and I touched the potatoes to my lip, and even after blowing on them, they were so hot that I was shocked they didn't leave a blister. She cried for the rest of the time we were in the restaurant, which was quite a while since we couldn't even get the server's attention long enough to bring us our check. We waited and watched him goof off with other servers before I finally got up and got the hostess and asked her to bring the manager to our table the manager never came- and we waited- but we finally did pay our tab and leave. We stopped on our way up 95 from the beach. It took 25 minutes to get our appetizer and 45 minutes to get our dinner. Our server and the manager came over 5 different times to tell us our food will be right out. It was not right out. People let's set proper expectations. I appreciate that the manager comped us a meal but really.. I have money to pay my bill.. just looking for good customer service. The manager was at every table apologizing for the wait time. Stop apologizing and coach and train your team in what acceptable customer service is. I do not recommend this restaurant. read more

I used to write Applebee's off, but they have changed their menu up and it's delicious! The service here was great and very attentive to us. The food was great!
