First off our waitress Val was the sweetest and most attentive ever, such a comforting presence whenever she stopped by, was super helpful in some appetizer choices too! Food was great! Steak was solid, a bit salty but nothing the mash potatoes didn't take care of. Vibe inside was nice too, had a booth near the bar and at 7 the lights dimmed making it more relaxed. My son and I met at Applebee's on Southfield. Normally when I go to a restaurant with a lot of young people on staff, it's not a good experience for me and I do not return. I was pleasantly surprised by the efficiency of the entire staff of young people working there. They were very very much on point. Our server was Damon and just loved his demeanor. They all cared about their customers. I'm sure they have a fantastic relationship with their Manager, Holly, who was also an excellent leader for them. I will return to this Applebee's again. We arrived about 7:30 p.. There were people in the restaurant, but it wasn't crowded. We waited at the door about 10 minutes before someone came and sat us. Another 10 minutes go by before the waitress comes over. We ordered our meal and drinks. 5 minutes later she brought my husband's drink. 5 minutes later the manager dropped my drink on the table. Another 10 minutes go by before the salads were brought, no silverware. Eventually the manager drops the silverware off. The entree finally arrives. While we were eating a group of young men came in. After about 15 minutes they were seated right behind us. They were chatting , not disruptive. Until the 2 girls came to their table. Then all 6 of them got loud. I told them I wanted a box and my bill ( I had already given her my card). The hostess brought the box and resumed talking to the guys.I stood and put my coat on. When I entered a young man cleaning a table immediately came over and while gathering a menu and silverware a server walked up and was talking in a real snippy tone to the young man about hurrying up to seat me so he can come take her phone off silent because she had an important call that she had to take. He sat me and I heard the same server walking through saying she was ready to go home, and she was talking about the young man at the door. She said to another worker that you know he's slow. The chain has a number of specials and happy hours to entice customers to come in. This location is almost all Black customers and all Black staff. We were in a group who came to meet and eat before a nearby event, but came in a few at a time to wait for the larger table area. As such, we got to the bar two at a time, so it wasn't like there were 10 people stacked at once. The bartenders and managers were playing a game where they couldn't see us but could see the Black customers. One woman would come over and wait on us after a while. For reasons known only to groups no one else would leave. We were seated. I don't think this part was a race issue, but they are very slow and very disorganized. The main waitress was trying, but it just seemed to be too much for her and all of them. The food wasn't very good. I stopped in here today for lunch. I saddle up to the bar. Mikera immediately greeted me. She was making drinks and said she would be with me in a moment. So I saw that there were new menu items called Sizzlin' Entrees. I ended up ordering Sizzlin' Cheddar and Bacon Chicken Skillet with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Garlic Green Beans. Mikera brought me my food and noticed that they gave me double mashed and apologized and stated that green garlic bean would be out shortly. She said they look very similar in the system. I had a really bad cramp in my leg and David prayed for me. Chelsea was a really attentive server and treated me like a real VIP.

Food was okay. I was satisfied. My husband had a hair in his pasta but our waitress and the manager handled it well I'm my opinion. They took the pasta off a d then gave us a free appetizer since my husband didn't want to eat at all anymore. They got the food out in a good amount of time. Quick enough for an hour lunch in between clients, which was great for me. Our waitress was a sweet heart. Got the life of me I cannot remember her name ‍ and I left my receipt so I can't even look it up. This was my second time having her, she's been consistent with the loveliness each time.
