Our new favorite spot! First time coming and it was SO good! Husband n I got the chips and queso that had jalapeños in it! Got the hangar steak which was amazing super juicy and melted in my mouth. Husband got the munch wrap and that was really good too. Not to mention their beers! Got everything from their IPA to cherry wheat to stouts and they were all very good. I've been coming to Griffin Claw for years and have always loved the food, beer, service, and patio. It's one of my favorite local spots. Unfortunately, my last visit left me disappointed. While eating inside, a busser cleaned the table next to me with what I was told is the owner's homemade cleaner. The smell was overwhelming--like rotten tequila--and completely ruined my appetite. My server said I wasn't the first person to complain. What bothered me even more was learning that servers are charged a 3% transaction fee on their credit card tips. If that's true, it's incredibly disappointing and feels unfair to employees. I'll still come back because the food, beer, and staff are great (while they last), but I hope management reconsiders these decisions. Great employees are hard to find, and they deserve to be treated well. read more

This is a large brewery with great beer and a menu that goes beyond typical pub fare. I like that you can order any number of flight-sized pours for about $3 each. The Marshmallow and Macchiato were both very good. The food was tasty, and service was friendly and quick. The food prices are a little high, and it's maybe a bit too dark inside, but overall we liked the atmosphere. The patio area looks inviting and this is a bike-friendly place. read more

Excellent from A to Z. Great food, great beer, great mixed drinks. Service was awesome and the setting was very relaxing. The outside fire pits really sets the tone for a sociable with friends and family gathered around. This place gets extremely busy even with a lot of seating in and outdoors. There was a waiting list for us today but they called within the time that they gave us. We took a 5 minute walk to Griffin Claw so we didn't have to try to find a place to park. As I was waiting to be seated I seen numerous vehicles looking to park without success due to the volume of customers. read more

One of my favorite places in the area. Parking: There's a parking lot, but tends to fill up quickly! There's street parking and also another lot nearby. Wait time: It gets busy in the summer. Even for a weekday (Wednesday even), you should expect at least a 15 minute wait. Ambiance: Very lively, fun. Slightly dim inside, but a great place to bring friends and have a good time. There's outdoor seating too which is perfect for warm weather. Food: Delicious! You can't go wrong with any item. Whether it's the fried chicken sandwich or the salmon bowl. Drinks: All of the beers and ciders are great. I recommend getting trying a few different of their beers when you go! My favorite item so far: the fried chicken sandwich. read more

Even on a weekend afternoon we were able to stop for a casual lunch and it wasn't too crowded. Our server was friendly, prompt and the food came out fast and fresh. Great spot. We were able to get on the waiting list ahead of time on Yelp- big plus! Staff was so nice and helpful, the restaurant is great, we had a nice circle table for 6 of us. Very kid friendly. Had the salmon bowl- delicious. Everyone liked their food. Had a flight of all the flying buffalos- so good!! I think the stroopwafel is the best this year! Highly recommend! read more

Stopped here on a road trip to visit with an old friend. We needed a kid friendly place open on a Sunday with a menu. This place fit the bill, and we were so happy with the decision to stop here! Picky 9 had the Bavarian Pretzel sticks. Mr. 13 went with the Smashburger. Hubs had the "Not Popeyes Chicken Sandwich," and I had the Crunchmunch. All items were finger-lickin' good. It was the perfect spot for a visit. The tables are large, so our kids were able to bring along notebooks for drawing and not be in our laps. I had the Pumpkin Imperial Stout. It was so good, I bought a four pack to bring home. Hubs loved the Raggedy Ass IPA. He also bought some to go. So glad we stopped here! read more

Favorite brewery ever! Pittsburgh to Michigan is well worth every sip and beer to bring back!

The food was awful. The pulled pork was dry, and stringy. I showed the waitress. She told the cook [ who obviously was not a chef]. The response was to bad for me!! No fresh sandwich didn't take it off the bill. So unprofessional I had family from NY with me. I bragged about the restaurant. Oof, the menu for plant based folks has dwindled significantly. They used to offer two vegan options that were creative. Now the only non-animal based option left on the menu is an $18 impossible burger served without fries or side whatsoever. And it's a $1 more to add vegan cheese. Won't be eating here anymore. Beer is just okay. Screaming Pumpkin is back, but doesn't hold up to other pumpkin beers. They have some decent ciders, but more so at the Rochester Hills location. Seating options, location, and friendly employees are the pros. read more

Just walked in and out of Griffin Claw in Birmingham. It's a complete Daycare. Complete with shrieking, whining, running around & feeding babies.... THIS is A Bar!! It is not an adult bar like it used to be. My husband and were there with friends at 7:30. It wasn't even a question if we were going to leave. Go to McDonalds if you want a playground. Griffin Claw was one of my "lost" beer and brewery experiences in which the information I was inputting on a phone was lost because the phone got destroyed. It was driving me nuts with this one until I recovered physical notes of the experience. I could have went off of memory but the accuracy could be off as I visit a lot of breweries and sometimes things blur together. What I don't needs notes for is that their swag is super cool and I bought a t shirt here because of that. But onto the beer. We had the Screamin' Pumpkin beer which was a fun one to have. It was appropriate as we were in the season for Pumpkin beers. Flavor highlights with this beer were pumpkin, spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and ginger. This creates a spicy, sweet and strong beer that is smooth and light bodied. Definitely a festive beer that is appropriate for Autumn! read more

Service is great! The stouts are great! The IPAs not the best. A couple years ago I had the Marshmallow Stout and loved it so much that I bought a 6 pack and took back home with me to Texas. I was excited to come back. They didn't have the marshmallow, but the Macchiato and Flying Buffalo were excellent! We don't have many stouts in Texas so I'm like a flee on a dog when I come here. read more

This is my favorite brewery in the Detroit suburbs, they have a great variety of beer no matter the season, and they have some wonderful kambuchas on tap too for those not drinking alcohol! At some breweries the attraction is the beer and the food is "meh", that is definitely not the case at Griffin Claw. Their food is amazing, their burgers, chicken sandwiches, and shrimp tacos are usually my go-to but I've never not enjoyed what I've ordered here. This is a great place to go no matter the season, during the warmer months they have the patio open outside with fire-pits and during the colder months you can chill inside.. it's a fun environment with sports always on and usually a nice crowd on the weekends. Definitely check in on yelp and get yourself on the waitlist ahead of time so that you're not waiting a long time for a table. Love love love this place and will keep coming back. read more

A great place to come and relax with friends after a long day! We came on a Friday evening at around 7 and it was quite busy, but we were seated within 30 minutes, even though we were told 40-45 minutes. The beers are all brewed inhouse and each has a very unique flavor. The steak bites were cooked perfectly and the sauce it was paired with was delicious. The bun on the prime rib philly dip was toasted well and the contents inside were seasoned perfectly. The accompanying dip complemented the sandwich extremely well. Lastly, despite how busy it was, the server made sure to check on us at regular intervals, which was greatly appreciated. Definitely looking forward to returning! read more

So I went here based on yelp reviews alone. It's laid out very nice with about half the seating outside. We just sat at the bar which was very busy with people ordering drinks while they waited on a table. The beer was really good and bartenders worked their tails off waiting on tables, the bar, and filling all other drink orders. The Philly dip and pickle fries were amazing. I sampled four different options and loved them all, with the Flying Buffalo Bourbon Barrel Aged Rocky Road being a standout. The space is inviting, perfect for groups, and offers a laidback vibe where you can actually hear your friends talk--a big plus! Unfortunately, the food fell flat. Out of our group of six, no one was thrilled with their meal, and no one would reorder. I tried the "munchwrap" and couldn't help but think I should've gone to Taco Bell for a Crunchwrap instead. The prime rib Philly dip had potential, but the flavors clashed and lacked cohesion. For the price, we expected much better.
