I didn't try the signature sauce as I'm not a fan of thousand island. But many people will enjoy it the way it's suppose to be made I'm sure.The pizza burger was pretty cool. We were suggested the lemon pepper fries and that was such a great suggestion. They are fresh cut fries and you can tell. The heat didn't seem as high. My first time at the other place I needed many glasses of beverage, again with medium heat. I'd say the sauce in the cups was the only thing better than the competition but it, too, was almost indistinguishable from the other guys. But none of it was extraordinary. Nor did it have the zip and flavor and heat that you'd get with the no kidding Prince's Hot Chicken in Nashville. Also, the drink selection, short of buying the eclectic frozen drinks is a little less than wonderful. Pretty sure the competitor has iced tea which is a better choice than soda for this. We joined the call-ahead list and were seated about 15 minutes after our arrival time, which was actually pretty reasonable considering how packed it was. We had three little kids with us, so we ordered drinks and everyone's meals right away. Everything took quite a while to reach the table, but the restaurant was clearly slammed, so it didn't seem like anyone's fault--just the result of how busy they were. Unfortunately, both my steak and my mother-in-law's steak kabobs were overcooked. We had ordered them medium and they came out well done. The kitchen did remake them, but because the restaurant was so busy it took quite a while for the replacements to come back. By the time they arrived, everyone else at the table had finished eating and our sides were already gone. The manager came over, spent some time talking with us, and adjusted our bill, which we really appreciated. He handled the situation well and seemed like a great guy who genuinely cares about the restaurant and the guests. After a long day working an event, I stopped into the local Big Boy hoping for something simple and reliable -- the salad bar and a decent sandwich. Unfortunately, neither of those expectations were met. First disappointment: the salad bar was closed. That was the main reason for stopping in. The bigger issue, however, was the atmosphere and service. The restaurant was practically empty, and it quickly became clear why. The waitstaff looked like they were more interested in getting out the door than taking care of the few customers who actually showed up. Service felt rushed, curt, and distracted while they focused on side work and closing tasks rather than hospitality. Then came the kicker: a server came to the table and casually informed us they didn't have cheese for the sandwiches. At that point, it's hard not to wonder how a restaurant runs out of something as basic as cheese. Between the closed salad bar, missing ingredients, and staff that clearly wanted the night to end more than they wanted to serve guests, the whole experience felt like customers were an inconvenience.
