Food is decent but it costs more than it should. They provide you with delicious warm bread after you are seated. It's is not endless, they do not tell you this. But I think you can order more for a cost. My waitress, Kena, was kind and quick. Engaging and fun to talk to while being attentive to our needs. The fish and burger were good. The baked potato was pretty basic and could be prepared a little better, especially if paying for "fully loaded." They make some of their dressings in house which are good. I would maybe opt for a different side than fries. They taste like basic frozen fries with no character. I'd opt for the side salad! There is a nice view of the marina and so you can see the boats and some of the fishermen coming in and out. Everyone has to do valet, I don't love that. It's not ideal if you do not have cash. Everything we ordered was well prepared and full of flavor. The surf and turf was cooked perfectly, the French dip and chicken ciabatta sandwiches were both excellent, and the clam chowder was some of the best I've ever had. This has returned as another of my regular nostalgia stops when I visit Detroit. Waitresses are friendly. Expect a mix of after church and fishermen for Sunday lunch. I would have liked more garlic in the broth, but I loved the celery in the broth. Loved the additional cup of butter. Would have loved bread with the mussels, but it wasn't offered until later. Came here for dinner with the family. We called ahead and the person I spoke to invited us in and really made us look forward to our visit. This place is a legend and an anchor in Detroit. The views are awesome and the history is so full. Any fish dish will be top notch here, and you cannot go wrong with a burger or salad. The homemade Roquefort dressing is worth the extra $1. Sindbad's has been around for decades and is a staple of Detroit, right on the Detroit River. The food is decent. The service is friendly, attentive, and excellent. It gets a bit crowded and noisy inside because it's a popular place. It's on the water but a lot of the seating doesn't have a water view. We enjoyed a nice window view. I enjoyed the clam chowder. My cod fish sandwich was okay, the fries were good. The corned beef Reuben had good flavor. The mozzarella sticks were fine. I really liked the homemade marinara sauce with them. The Sangria was a bit sour for my taste. Overall, everything was good, but I wouldn't say great. But the nostalgia of this place is worth the visit. They have their own parking lot. read more

The food was good, service also good. But when you pull in you are required to valet park, and there was literally no reason for this except to have one more person getting money. The parking lot wasn't full, and it was about 20 steps from the front door. Took longer for the valet to bring our car than it would have to just walk to it. And he will take $3 plus tip for his service thank you very much, which is on the website, but NOT posted anywhere. Also, charge for a credit card, 3%, charge to split a plate $2. Took the boat to Sinbad's last night for dinner- 6 of us in our party, had a reservation and were seated right away at a nice table overlooking the marina. The short of this review is that the food was good and service was so bad to the point of being laughable- we had to laugh at this experience. We likely will not go back - probably would have given it Another chance if the manager had remedied anything. Order drinks, and a bottle of wine for dinner and our meals. Drinks eventually came after a long, wait , entrées then arrived but no salads or soups that were ordered( salads and soups arrived long after we were finished eating our entrées and still no wine) We were preparing to leave and waiting for the bill and here comes the wine - already opened and put on our table . We then were given a bill with items on it that we never did receive and 77$ gratuity that the waitress gave herself. We certainly would have still tipped her, but we would have expected items to be removed that we didn't receive and we probably wouldn't have tipped her so well. This is one of my fav restaurants, but I was very disappointed the last time I went for Father's Day dinner. We were told the wait would be 30 minutes, which turned into one hour. We then waited another hour for food, which was bad enough, then the portions were small and the salmon had no glaze as advertised. While any place can have a bad day, especially on a holiday, this experience left a bad taste. It will be a minute before I give them another chance. All of it was great. I'm telling you they gave the best clam chowder in Michigan. My steak was as good as the great steak specialty places. They have the best perch dinners in the area. Great service too. Super friendly and attentive staff. Cool bar too. They've won business for 75 for a reason. If you have not been here try it out for something different. It's not a trendy party place. Very simple with older patrons but do not let that deter you. It's a Detroit classic off the beaten path which is all the more reason to take in a night at Sindbads. What happened to Sinbad's? It's a sin that it was so bad! We used to go there throughout my youth several times each summer by boat. I was back in the area from the Westcoast and brought my husband & son to the famous Sinbad's. It was an embarrassment- sat us at a table in the back half of the restaurant yet the window area was sparsely occupied. The waiter took forever to bring our drinks. Took partial order and went to check on the fresh catch of the day & returned 20 minutes later. We waited much too long for reasonable delivery of food. Salads were forgotten, meals came out at separate times. The $36 seafood platter was not a platter... 2 frog legs, 4 scallops, 4 shrimp and fries. All deep fried - awful. Friends joined us , so we were a table of 7 and they added 20% tip that was insult to injury. Very sad that it's gone downhill. My parents had a bad experience about a year ago. It wasn't just a 'bad night'. Please make some positive changes before this Detroit institution goes away. read more

I was denied service at the door for having a service animal. The owner informed me I was required to show proof of my disability even after I explained federal ADA law to her.
