Everything we ordered was on point from start to finish. The surf and turf was cooked exactly right, with a well-seasoned steak and lobster that didn't need anything added to it. The clam chowder was a standout--easily one of the best I've had, including places on the East Coast. The French dip was solid, and the ciabatta chicken sandwich had plenty of flavor with chicken that was cooked perfectly. Finished with the Key lime pie, which had the right balance of creamy and tart. The staff was friendly, parking was handled without any hassle, and our server did an excellent job taking care of us. Food is decent but it costs more than it should. They provide you with delicious warm bread after you are seated. It's is not endless, they do not tell you this. But I think you can order more for a cost. My waitress, Kena, was kind and quick. Engaging and fun to talk to while being attentive to our needs. The fish and burger were good. The baked potato was pretty basic and could be prepared a little better, especially if paying for "fully loaded." They make some of their dressings in house which are good. I would maybe opt for a different side than fries. They taste like basic frozen fries with no character. I'd opt for the side salad! There is a nice view of the marina and so you can see the boats and some of the fishermen coming in and out. Everyone has to do valet, I don't love that. It's not ideal if you do not have cash. Great view of the marina. Lots of tables with views of the water. Everyone working there was friendly and helpful. It gave me old 1990's Wyandotte restaurant vibes. I missed that. It was a comforting feeling. We ordered the oysters. While they were good, I would appreciate if they scrubbed the shells more because more than a few times pieces of shell would get in my mouth. I would also like to see them served on crushed ice. But they tasted fresh and a nice squeeze of lemon was the best complimenting flavor. Fried clams, yum!! Review: I've been coming to Sinbad's since I was a baby with my mom, family, and friends, so writing this is disappointing, but the recent changes make it impossible to recommend anymore. The Food & Experience The Good: The ambiance is still beautiful, right on the water. The perch, frog legs, side salad, and baked potato were all good and enjoyable. The Bad: The rest of the meal was just okay. The bread was really disappointing--they used to serve nice, crusty hard rolls, but now it's gooey, soft, biscuit-like bread. There were no crackers provided, and the service felt rushed throughout our meal. The menu prices have also gotten very high for what you get. The Parking Setup (The Main Issue) What really ruined the experience was the parking situation. When I went to tip the valet $1, he told me valet parking is actually $3. Even worse, if you want to self-park in their own big, open lot, they charge $5! Forcing customers to pay to park their own cars in a private lot--or pay for valet service they didn't want--feels like pure corporate greed and selfishness. It's sad to see a place with so many personal memories turn into a cash grab. Between the inflated prices, rushed service, downgraded bread, and ridiculous parking fees, I just can't suggest coming here anymore. read more

This is classic Detroit. Sinbad's has been around for close to 80 years. It's a boaters destination, just off of Lake Saint Clair before the Detroit river. If you're looking for high grade dining in the evening, and a place to take family for a lunch, you can't get better than this. The sesame chicken strips is a favor of mine, and not many places make it. The menu is rather expensive and very much seafood based. Well today's visit was garbage. I pulled up after work and wanted to get some carry out to go home and was told parking was 3.00$ even though I parked my car myself. I was told to go to the atm. Came here for dinner with the family. We called ahead and the person I spoke to invited us in and really made us look forward to our visit. This place is a legend and an anchor in Detroit. The views are awesome and the history is so full. Any fish dish will be top notch here, and you cannot go wrong with a burger or salad. The homemade Roquefort dressing is worth the extra $1. It gets a bit crowded and noisy inside because it's a popular place. It's on the water but a lot of the seating doesn't have a water view. We enjoyed a nice window view. I enjoyed the clam chowder. My cod fish sandwich was okay, the fries were good. The corned beef Reuben had good flavor. The mozzarella sticks were fine. I really liked the homemade marinara sauce with them. The Sangria was a bit sour for my taste. Overall, everything was good, but I wouldn't say great. But the nostalgia of this place is worth the visit. They have their own parking lot. read more

The food was good, service also good. But when you pull in you are required to valet park, and there was literally no reason for this except to have one more person getting money. The parking lot wasn't full, and it was about 20 steps from the front door. Took longer for the valet to bring our car than it would have to just walk to it. And he will take $3 plus tip for his service thank you very much, which is on the website, but NOT posted anywhere. Also, charge for a credit card, 3%, charge to split a plate $2. The short of this review is that the food was good and service was so bad to the point of being laughable- we had to laugh at this experience. Drinks eventually came after a long, wait , entrées then arrived but no salads or soups that were ordered( salads and soups arrived long after we were finished eating our entrées and still no wine) We were preparing to leave and waiting for the bill and here comes the wine - already opened and put on our table . We then were given a bill with items on it that we never did receive and 77$ gratuity that the waitress gave herself. We certainly would have still tipped her, but we would have expected items to be removed that we didn't receive and we probably wouldn't have tipped her so well. This is one of my fav restaurants, but I was very disappointed the last time I went for Father's Day dinner. We were told the wait would be 30 minutes, which turned into one hour. We then waited another hour for food, which was bad enough, then the portions were small and the salmon had no glaze as advertised.
