I see the reviews here and I have to say, my experience was quite different! It's Applebee's, so temper your expectations accordingly. We came in for lunch on a Sunday and we were seated and served promptly. Food came out great and it was overall a pleasant experience. Not five star worthy but certainly a four star review. We had drinks on our table before we had even decided on food, they were accommodating to have our kids food out first and our food followed quickly behind. The food was above my expectations, the service was great, and we ever had the manager stop by to check in (which feels like not everywhere does this anymore). I've had my beef with Applebee's over the years but I may be coming back around after this visit. read more

Went here for HH & drinks. I think that they do fun sugary seasonal drinks almost every month for $5. Happy hour deals are also pretty good. The hostess wanted to seat us next to the door but it was a bit cold so we asked to be sat a bit away from the door, he put us at the furthest table away from the door, lol. We appreciated it though. The staff were nice enough. My go to is the chicken wonton tacos and fries or the honey bbq wings. This location seems to stay consistently busy but hardly so busy to the point where you have to wait for a table. Be careful in the parking lot. It seems pretty harmless for the most part but a guy approached my car to ask for money, caught me off guard a bit and I did not feel comfortable rolling my window down. He then proceeded to stand behind my car preventing me from backing up until my mom came back around [in her car] after seeing him approach my car asking him to move so that I can leave. I know this isn't an Applebees issue (so this incident was not factored into my star rating) but it's part of the neighborhood experience. read more

Applebees, on the whole, has been on the downward spiral for at least a decade. Regardless of where you go, the food is hospital food service quality. Their saving grace is their rotating adult beverage and meal promotions. This location is just like all the rest - mediocre food that is only worth going when they have good promos. At a busy corner of the Knollwood Mall, the dining room is a little small. Most of the seating is in the bar area. Ambiance is fine and bar counter is always a little grimy. Whenever I go, I find this location is over-staffed, but service is very, very slow. Lots of servers just standing around while the bartender and one other server are working the entire restaurant. read more

I found at the bottom of my mashed potatoes a plastic lid, about 2 1/2 inches diameter. Gross. We alerted the wait person, and then the manager. Apologies galore. They explained it was a pre portion cup lid. We we told they would comp the dinner, and give us a desert; in addition my granddaughter ordered alfredo shrimp only, she received chicken alfredo shrimp added. Finally, when I went to pay the bill on their payment device, I discovered that the adjustment had not happened.... to avoid losing my temper there was no tip. We walked out. BEWARE OF FOOD POISONING My fiancé and I are usually regulars at this location, never having an issue at all but I've noticed ever since the pandemic had started their business hasn't been looking too hot. We've agreed to go for the time being and my fiancé and I ordered boneless wings (I got sweet Asian and he ordered garlic parm). Before this, we haven't ate anything, but having pop. My fiancé told me a couple hours later he wasn't feeling well and decided to go sleep it off but it wasn't until midnight he was violently throwing up and having diarrhea. I've had diarrhea as well but it wasn't severe as his. I made a complaint about this, and spoke to Jacob Tyler (assuming a GM), and he basically tried to brush it off or made it seem like we contracted this somewhere else. They also only feared having a medical bill coming their way, but I just mustered staying at home. I was told to have a "follow up", but nothing came to it. Not even a refund. Me and my family have come to this Applebee's for nearly 5 years and have never had a issue, service is great and food is good. This issues started to arise after the lockdown ended, waitstaff was much more rude and barely did their job at times this is with still expectation a big tip. The final nail in the coffin was when my family came in a Thursday night and waited 20 minutes to be seated I could understand that and we waited patiently and were seated but when we went to order our drinks we were told that the pitchers of beer that we had ordered for the last couple years and had just had last week were no longer available. I asked to speak to a manager and a large white man came and introduced himself I don't remember his name exactly but he told me that they "no longer had pitchers" and had actually "discontinued" them 6 months ago. This struck a nerve because we had just had gotten one last week and being told that we were lying and wrong just did not feel right. I would understand if they told me they couldn't make one due to how busy it was or that they did not have the things to make it with. But the response we received was poor and for that I am leaving a low review. I had a terrible experience with this location. I ordered through DoorDash and my order never arrived. I called the store after 1 hour to ask about my order. I was told that the order would be remade for pick-up (inconvenient, but ok for fresh food). I arrive and the waitress messed up the original order and share that our discounts were not applied. This is my second time getting food at this location and I will definitely never ever return. The first time I came the wait time was ridiculous... my food was promised in 15 minutes and it turned into a 45 min waiting fiasco. Today was just the worst service I've ever gotten. I came in at the same time as another customer and was greeted by a guy. Him and I both waited for 5 minutes before a girl appeared with our food. This is when the problems happened. The guy (named Craig) gave her cash and she said be right back. And I gave her my card and she said be right back. Craig said keep the change and walked out. She handed me my food and went to swipe my card. But when I felt the bag it was cold. I read the receipt and it was two chicken salads for Craig! So I tried to flag down the guy but he was with customers. I had to LITERALLY RUN OUT and bang on his window before he drove off with my food. Even his wife was startled. Now the worst part? I go in and the girl is laughing at me and what happened and doesn't even apologize and just walks away. Unbelievable!!! It was YOUR FAULT FOR BEING CARELESS AND YOU GAVE THE WORST SERVICE IVE EVER EXPERIENCED. YOU SUCK. I was so mad I ripped up the receipt without even signing it. Anyways the lady manager was very apologetic when I called in immediately after to complain and I even went in to speak with her in person and she refunded me my money and gave me a $10 gift card and promised me she would handle what happened at the end of the shift... I would not classify Applebee's as a neighborhood bar and grill, it used to be more family like, meaning now they have loud music and only sports on tv (American). I'd like to see a variety European (soccer, Speed tv) etc. This location was relocated in this mall and it "changed". Servers are good! Quick service, good food. I'd give more stars but it was really loud 3 times before, today at. 2 pm it's quieter; maybe there's a reason. We like they have better...much better selection of beer on tap. Local beer surly, Octoberfest, strongbow, Fulton, new Belgium and PBR. Gin selection could be better but I'm guessing they will add. Chris was a lovely, attentive butler, I mean server. My wife and I were out for a rare Monday night meal and I had a $25 gift card from my sister from Christmas about 4 years ago that we decided I should finally use up. We were in Hopkins and decided to go to the Applebees in the strip mall up there. It looks like they are renovating the mall, which needed renovating about 10 years. There was lots of construction, but I hope it gets a much needed face lift. The Applebees was fairly small compared to some I have been to, but we were seated in a high top at the bar and I noticed $5 pitchers of domestic beers. "1 pitcher of Pabst Blue Ribbon please!" Our server was a super nice guy and seemed genuinely interested in making sure all our needs were met and made some nice small talk about our Fit Bits we were both wearing. Really nice guy. I am watching the calories, so I ordered the Thai shrimp peanut salad, which was on the 550 calories or less menu. It was really good! Lots of medium sized shrimp with a pleasant peanut sauce and a few crunchy wontons. Lots of food for 380 calories for about $10. Not too shabby! There is an older clientele here, probably due to some senior living housing around the place, but it was bright with lots of TVs lining the bar. Great beer special on Monday, wonderful salad, cool server, for a chain restaurant, this was a 4 star experience. read more

I went with 3 friends on 11/11/2021 to celebrate a friends birthday. We expected it to be busy because of Veteran's Day but did not expect the disaster we experienced. From the start we received horrible service. We ordered refills of pop and beer and had to ask repeatedly for them to be delivered. We ordered an appetizer and had to ask for silverware and napkins. Upon finishing the appetizer, there were used plates and glasses piled on our table and again we had ask for them to be removed. We then ordered our meal and 2 of the meals came out. The 2 of us who had our meal were waiting for the other's to be served. After about 10 minutes we flagged down a staff member (our server was MIA) to ask when the other 2 meals were coming. Our server then finally came over and asked when the 2 missing meals were ordered. We had all ordered at the same time! He then proceeded to take their order again because their order was never put into the system. He proceeded to enter their order. The server we had asked about the missing meals then came over and told us that he would take the missing order because he could not find our server or a manager to assist. We told him that our server had come and taken the order again. By the time my friend's meals arrived, our meals were cold. Since no one was around to ask about reheating them, we opted to just take them home. Again we could not find anyone to bring us a box so one of us got up and managed to find takeout boxes on her own. Throughout this we were trying to get refills on drinks again and no luck. We finally got our bill and we had split it, I was paying for myself and another -- my bill was $36.40. The other bill was much larger, as she was paying for the appetizer, 2 meals and 6 beers. I tried to pay my share on the tabletop device - it wasn't even our order on there though! We then took our 2 credit cards and the separate bills and found our server to pay. He eventually arrived back with the credit cards slips and I signed the slip for $36.40, even adding 15%! The other woman signed her slip for a total of $88.67. The next morning I checked my bank account and discovered I had been charged the $88.67 instead of the $36.40 I owed. I called and was told the manager would call me back. She did call me back and told me I would get refunded but it would take 3-5 business days. She admitted to the error but just said she was sorry. The entire experience was a disaster. I will never again go to the Applebees location in St. Louis Park, MN. I've never had such horrible service from a restaurant. --Edit-- I received the refund for the credit card "mishap" (the manager's term) in 3 days. The manager emailed me to apologize and offered me a gift certificate. I accepted her apology and said I would like the gift card. I got the gift card the next day -- for $20. I told her that was unacceptable to me. It did not even cover what I paid at my visit. I said I believed I was owed at least $50. I did receive an extra $30 the next day. Although the situation was rectified to my satisfaction, I believe it took far too many days and far too much of my time. read more

This Applebee's is the worst I've been to. The service has always been slow. Hosts, hostesses and servers show little or no enthusiasm for their job and aren't very friendly. It took me three times to realize that just because a place is a chain does not mean you will find consistency. I will never choose to go here again, nor will I go quietly if someone invites me. The best one was two blocks from my dad's, but they closed. Still, I'd drive to South Town, or even Eagan and spend extra on gas before going here. Service I could really go either way about as long as the food is decent, but I have never had a nice experience at this one. As my father keeps bringing up, I once said, "Everything that was supposed to be warm was cold and everything that should have been cold was warm." That pretty much sums it up. read more

On my way to this eating establishment (or should I say WAITING establishment) I read a review mentioning the incredible wait times for dinner. I was not really ready to take hours to eat but maybe my experience will be different? Oh boy, was I ever wrong! First off, this location is in a mall, not just any mall, but Knowllwood mall. This has never really been the place of choice for shopping, but I thought maybe 15 years had changed it. It has changed, but not all that much. There are stores present, but not a whole lot of people. The largest population group seemed to be retirees which is funny since they also represented half of our party of 10! I also think this was related to the retirement complex across the street. Our visit was on the last Saturday before Christmas and they had a "craft show" going on. It might as well have been the first day of Summer for the lack of people in that mall, not to mention the restaurant. Our waiter was interesting. He would ask us if we needed anything and then proceed to bring something else entirely. One person in our party ended up with three glasses of diet cola which only further crowded our terribly full and inadequate table. Once we ordered, food came out to the table three different times by three different runners, none of which were our waiter. We asked each one for both silverware (we were missing two sets) and apple juice for our youngest member. When our waiter finally made it back to check on us, our youngest was about to throw a fit and one was eating with a knife because she could not wait. The other was using her hands since she had a salad and was also very hungry. While we were there, another guest was having a birthday lunch for her 85th which was cute. If the only fun that woman has on her birthday was the birthday song the staff sang, she will be depressed for the rest of her life. It is was dismal to say the least. Bottom line: I concur with others, this is the worst Applebees I have ever been to. Service is slow and lackluster. The overall experience was depressing and made our holiday lunch together less than memorable. I wish I could have those 2 1/2 hours back and do them again somewhere fun. read more

I frequently visit this restaurant, I am not a huge advocate for "corporate" restaurants, especially not Applebee's as I always get terrible service, terrible drinks and terrible food! But this one is different! I love coming in and Mike knows exactly what I want to drink, he is pleasant and friendly but doesn't try to over chat me as a bartender who has "regulars" do. He is seriously amazing. I normally sit at the bar and have my double vodka soda but this past week I went and sat at a table with my son and we had a new server, she came from Hutchinson Applebee's and she was AMAZING! My 5 years SON like to wear his Wonder Woman dress and many servers make him feel uncomfortable or they don't even acknowledge it, this girl was awesome! After our practice a group of friends decided to go to Applebee's.. Like always.. Which I wasn't that pleased to begin with. You are so close to Uptown and plenty of restaurants that you can go and check out for the first time.. But anyways, we decided to come here. It was late so we made it just im time for happy hour. There was no line in front of us, but the greater thought that it was necessary for them to have us wait 15 minutes so they could set up a table for 7 ppl... Smh.. After the server came she ask us for the drinks and we waited another while before she brought those out, and I had to remind her, literally, three times before she brought my water out.. After we ordered from the new menus, she only told us that the old appetizer specials were still up for grabs.. And she brought the appetizer menus after we put our order in.. The food in general was alright that's why I put the two stars, but the noisy atmosphere at a family bar and Grill with the crappy service ruined it all for me. read more
