This place is very cozy and quaint! Small but very cute! We got the English breakfast and the taste was amazing!! Oh and the water, they flavored it with mints, cucumbers and lemon! Will highly recommend if you are coming to London!

I really wanted to love this cheerful place as I trekked over from LB just to come here Saturday. I was promptly seated as one person by a smiling waitress, who promised menus, and then it went downhill. I sat and waited... and waited... and waited. Meanwhile I could see her leaning at the kitchen counter, working on something or doing something or another, but making no movement to attend to me. Another sour-faced waitress with black hair and glasses passed me a few times and saw me obviously looking around and looking distressed and as London waiters have the astonishing ability to do, ignored me (a customer). She catered to the tables on either side of me though. Finally she came back with menus for me and when I noted that finally she decided to stop by, she murmured "Sorry, we're busy." No, unacceptable. The restaurant doesn't even seat that many people. The inability to multitask for London staff (versus servers in NY) astounds me. Anyway, I ordered the sweet potato hash and asked for the egg to be fried or scrambled if possible. The server hesitated and as it turned out my food was served with the egg poached. That's fine; what bothered me more was this whole time I was never given cutlery (I had to take from an adjoining table) nor was I offered a jug of water (like many restaurants do). My food was lukewarm. It tasted fine and is beautifully presented but honestly I have had MUCH tastier hash at Lantana in Shoreditch. When I asked for the check I asked for the service charge to removed and that's when the owner (I think) came over and explained how the egg could have been cooked a different way, there was a mix-up, etc. That's fine. She was disappointed my food was lukewarm though so offered that on the house which was a lovely gesture. She also had the two cookies I had ordered be fresh-baked for me. Again, a lovely gesture. Whilst I appreciated this, (and the cookies are DELICIOUS- probably my favorite part of my meal honestly)- the poor service put me off from returning. It's particularly jarring how the table with more customers next to me had more attention than myself as a solo customer. I urge everyone else to get brunch elsewhere. You're spoilt for choice in London.

A nice spot for breakfast. Has a cozy clean feeling. The dishes were great and everything was presented nicely. Would definitely recommend going

I have stopped here for breakfast and dinner. For breakfast I had a couple poached eggs, avocado, tomato, and toast. I love how simple it is, especially as I find many breakfast places much too heavy for the morning. Also incredibly reasonably priced! For dinner I had sea bass, which was amazing! Very simple also, and fresh ingredients! For dessert we had the chocolate fondant--mind blowing. It came with blueberries on the side and it melts in your mouth. This place is a hidden gem. I am incredibly surprised at how it has stayed hidden--but it is only a matter of time before that changes! Very intimate and good quality, fresh food. Everything also happens to be gluten free!

Great place. Right around the corner from where I was staying. Staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. It was very beautifully displayed as well. They do close for a few hours between 3pm-6ish

This place is my favorite place to go to for breakfast when I am in Clerkenwell every few months. Fresh ingredients and simple preparations. Dressed avocado with poached egg. Perfect. The waiter that I see there is one of the most pleasant people I've ever run into. I'd like to have a place like this in my home town and everywhere I travel.

The basement has a bar, lounge and restaurant. It was a little noisy. But we could still talk. The roasted scallops were cooked perfectly. The green sauce was tasty. I love the presentation. The Bill Marrow was also good. It was very rich. There were two kinds of Sunday roast a sirloin and a rump. Three of us had the rump roast dinner and three had the sirloin roast dinner. It was hard to tell the difference. All the dinners came with roasted potatoes greens and of course, Yorkshire pudding. It was all delicious. I have to say my favorite part is always the Yorkshire pudding. I also have a green salad, which is basically just lettuce with a light dressing. It was very fresh. We were too full for dessert. The service was excellent. We were seated right away and given water. In the UK, you can order sparkling, still or tap. Sparkling and still come with a charge. Tap is usually free. Our server was attentive without hovering. It's a good idea to make reservations at Hawksmoor especially for the Sunday roast. We got there at three by the time we left around 4:30 some of the roasts were already sold out. Just a note: Sunday roost is usually a late lunch not a dinner. It's good to go between two and four especially if you don't have a reservation.

The steak and stout is my ultimate favorite! This place is my go to pie place every time I'm in London. I always try to stay in Covent Garden just so I can come here. This is my basis of the perfect meat pie with the pleasingly firm crusts and sides of mash and roasted potatoes are so delicious. The rich red-wine gravy comes separately in a small jug. I smother the pie with the gravy. Ingredient quality was excellent. They have mini pies and the regular sized pies. Even for a counter-service place this little cafe is terrific value - and you will be surprised that for Covent Garden you can eat a reasonably priced and uber delicious meal that makes me full the whole day! 5 stars can't wait to come back!

Minced Beef & Onion: The most popular, apparently. Smooth and moist inside with a buttery flaky outside. Steak & Stout: Same great crust, but with a very distinctive inside, chunks of firm roast and thick gravy where you could actually taste the stout. Probably my favorite pie here. Chicken & Mushroom: A nice variation from beef, but by no means lesser. With it's large chunks and umami gravy, this was like a quick hit fix for when craving a proper chicken pot pie. Mash & Gravy: The mash was smooth and buttery. The gravy was more than plentiful. Kinda lives under the shadow of the delicious pies though. Sticky Toffee Pudding: Good, but not great. The toffee sauce felt a bit too thick and wasn't as warmed as I like it. The sponge cake was alright, but kinda dry, like they just plopped into the toffee sauce puddle. But it did do a good job of soaking up the sauce with a little spoon dexterity.

Got the gravy on the side, didn't think I'd use all of it, before I knew it, it was all gone. I will be mixing mustard into my mashed potatoes from now on. Originally came for the sticky toffee pudding, so of course we ended with that. Marvelous! The toffee sauce is so comforting and rich, the cake was so moist, and it was perfectly balanced with the ice cream. Didn't detect any dates, maybe they were too finely chopped. Also the apple and blackberry crumble just didn't hit the same; it was slightly dry and on the sour side (maybe don't take a bite directly after the pudding!) Service was so helpful and friendly; I'm sure they love watching people fall in love with their food. Quick with refills and offered extra condiments if needed. Great air conditioning as well (always a plus), and I loved the green blacksplash and blackboard caligraphy on the walls as well. Bangin'
