Was excited to try the Manti, after seeing it in all the reviews - very small dumplings with a meaty filling that is paired with a tangy yogurt sauce. But the real star was the Filet Mignon Steak Kebab - the pieces at the bottom of the kebab were more cooked but still tender, but the top pieces were perfectly cooked medium well. It's been about two years since we last came to apricot stone and learned that they had relocated and had made some minor adjustments to the menu from which we were fond of Tonight's experience was OK not really exciting as I recall in the past; I will note the increase in prices. The meal for two was $66 now $100. Yet when we were all set and done, our bill was just over $100. I probably should've listened to my wife and order that instead. We started off with the Manti dumplings and broth, unfortunately, they were overcooked, dry and some had burnt skin. but when we pointed it out, the server didn't see anything wrong with it, maybe that's common for them, but that's not how we normally experience Manti at other restaurants Next, I had the chard octopus it wasn't charred. It's a nearly room temperature plate. I love octopus so for me it worked, but it wasn't what maybe I recalled. Then we shared a lamb kebab plate and added a chicken Shawarma skewer, lamb was tough, overcooked. Overall the meal missed delivering that wow factor. No more for us. If you haven't been to Apricot Stone in Northern Liberties yet... you are seriously missing out Hands down the best Armenian food in Philly. Ara, the owner, is the friendliest guy ever, and his mom -- who's been a professional chef since 1991 -- is also in the kitchen. They've been running Apricot Stone for about nine and a half years now, and it truly feels like a family-run gem. My bestie and I went for their $100 Date Night Menu (BYOB & such a good deal), and honestly it felt like we were back at Armenian sleepaway camp. The flavors were so authentic. Just like something our grandmothers would have made and every bite brought back memories. The spread was incredible: apps, entrees, sides... everything was to die for and the portions were so generous. A few of my go-to favorites are the manti, shrimp saganaki, and lamajun. All perfectly made. For the $100 dinner for 2, we got the dip trio (our faves: red pepper feta, tabouleh & lebni), stuffed grape leaves, cheese boreg, spanakopita, and falafel. For mains, the dinner also comes with an entree-sized salad; we chose the Fattoush salad (so fun, it comes with a little mallet to crack the pita shell!) plus the lamb skewer and luleh skewer, both cooked to perfection. And of course, dessert was the cherry on top: their decadent house-made Dubai chocolate (to die for). I also highly recommend my absolute favorite, the Khataif. They're also open for lunch and have a private party space upstairs. I've been to the original location about 2 years ago and just recently went to their newer location and wow what an upgrade. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable and helped guided my 2 other friends and I through the menu. We ended up doing one of their specials where we get an assortment of items from the jump and we got more than enough food for us to split. Hostess will seat you and bring water, and it is also BYOB. Menu had many middle eastern options with dips / sides and entrees. The platters come with choice of two dips for pita so you can try them with your meal. Muhammara was very tasty - good paprika taste and a little sweet with walnuts. Hummus also creamy and tasty. Visited this place with people from work and it was amazing! My boss placed the reservation, which we had to switch dates and they were super nice about it. We came in and had a table on the upper floor which was nice as it felt super private. Since we had a larger group we did a pre-fixed menu where we each selected our entrees but all the rest just came as a part of the menu. The food was DELICIOUS. Everything I tried was very yummy. Great somewhat of a hole in the wall Mediterranean restaurant. Food is solid. We sat at their outdoor seating, which is pet-friendly and great for a small group. Indoor has a quaint sitting space and great for a date. I had their kebab platter and it was delicious. They also have family dinners you can get if you prefer a bunch of food. This place is BYOB so remember to bring your booze. Service was OK; great server who was super nice, but didn't check on us enough and there were couple of times we were wondering where she was. My friends and I came here for a little girls night. (We love a good BYOB). It's also always fun to get a few things to share as apps which is exactly what we did. My favorite was the spanikopita. For some great middle eastern North African Mediterranean food- not AS price hiked inflation as everywhere else and for a really great meal. Cute lil date place if you want to sit on the patio. They have it heated and enclosed in winter or just stay inside the restaurant walls itself too. My friends were visiting out of town and wanted to take them to try Mediterranean food. We ended up picking this place so we can try all the different mezzes. We got: 2 x Trio Dips (Hummus, babaganoush, jajukh, imam bayaldi, Israeli salad, and beet salad) Manti Lamb kebab Luleh kebab Baklava Khataif Gatnabur Everything was delicious!! I loved all the mezze we got. The one thing I didn't like was the texture of their complimentary pita. It felt a bit dry and stale. Out of all the mezzes the baked eggplant (imam bayaldi) and beet salad were my favorite. The kebabs were good but nothing spectacular. I have yet to find a place in Philly that cooks very juicy and tender kebabs. We got all 3 desserts and they were all good. The one that stood out the most was the Gatnabur - Armenian rice pudding with blossom water. It was very freshening and cleanses your palate. The texture is very unique from all the rice pudding I've had in the past. I would love to come back again once they switch up their menu! I did see they change their menu based on the old yelp reviews and photos I've seen. Also another pro - this place is BYOB!! The food here is just outrageously good. The dips are fresh and flavorful and the kebabs (especially the luleh) are spiced perfectly, charred perfectly and the meat is so tender. Also, don't sleep on ordering dessert: I think the dubai chocolates are arguably the best bite in Philadelphia i've had in forever. Plus, if you need an event space, the upstairs is well lit, beautiful and perfect for a 20-30 person event. They did a fantastic job for me with my wife's birthday (~25 people). Parking situation was very hard. Mostly street parking that we saw and not much available. Uber/Lyft or carpool if you can. Now on to the food! I love Mediterranean food and was excited to try this place. My favorite entree was the manti. The skewers were ok, lamb was gamey and beef was dry. The sides we got were good. Falafel was also ok. The desserts I really liked though. The Khaitaif was sweeter than the baklava and I would have probably really enjoyed it with a strong coffee. The day before they announced that Northern Liberties restaurant week was starting the next day-the Friday we had reservations for! Found parking a few blocks away so that was good! We were seating at the middle table of the indoor dining area. It was a tight squeeze as it's not a big room. Lives that they had small lamps on the tables! Went to a tasting menu with wine pairing. Didn't know what to expect but was BLOWN AWAY with EVERYTHING. I have eaten in Michelin starred restaurants (just last month at Le Bernadin and Gramercy Tavern and belong to a roving tasting club so it's takes a lot to impress me) and this meal was not only worth every penny but I took home food since their portions a HUGE. My most recent trip for a psuedo-birthday dinner for myself with a handful of friends. We sampled nearly every item on the menu. I loved the Tabouleh and the Falafel.
