I love the vibe in here. it's fun, warm, casual, really great food and efficient service going on. Hummus Tehina: amazing. can be shared between four people, but my family of four does two orders and everyone gets a half. if you really like hummus, I suggest you do the same. the green sauce situation in the middle is great. comes with 3 pitas, if you want more it's $3 extra per pita. Merion Park Labneh: this labneh is thicker than other restaurants which I really like actually. the photo I insert may be deceiving, as it looks chunky. rest assured, it's absolutely smooth, just a thicker consistency than most labnehs. the spices on it are so so good. I think this is a must get along with a hummus. me and my sister are vegetarian, we share a hummus and a labneh and are decently full after those. we also snack on some small plates for the table (fries and olives) and leave full. Israeli Pickles and Olives: comes with two ramekins filled with varying sized pickles, not pitted olives, and some tiny yellow peppers I *think* are either pepper-chinos or at the very least taste similar. they also come with a small ramekin for the olive pits. The yellow peppers are very spicy, but I loved them. the olives are green, and i'd consider them friendly olives for those who are particular around olives. pickles were great as expected. COCONUT MALABI: I did not know what to expect. and honestly, first bite I was a bit confused by the texture, but by the end, I really liked it. its a thick pudding consistency, smooth, has a decent bounce to it, not too sweet at all, subtle coconut flavor. has a strawberry (I think) jam situation on top with some sort of crunchy thing. will be getting that again for sure. we had three people split this and it was enough. would consider getting two for four people though. service was quick, efficient, and kind. love the atmosphere. it has a sort of lively fun vibe to it. also we were in and out pretty quick without being rushed at all which is nice. just efficient. The wife & I stopped in for the first time for HH which runs 2 pm to 6 pm. We just had lunch & wanted to try their interesting cocktails. Mike was the initial bartender & he's fantastic! We met an old friend here this past weekend on a whirlwind trip to Philadelphia. It was a very pleasant meal, with a couple hiccups in the experience. The restaurant was quite busy when we arrived. The rather joyless host took us to our table, but a minute later a much more cheerful server greeted us and introduced us to the menu. As luck would have it, our reservation during their weekend brunch service, so we ordered items off that menu. We started with their traditional hummus tehina. It was good but not memorable, though the pita bread was soft and fluffy. For our individual meals we ordered: Israeli breakfast - a za'atar omelet with salad, olives, and pita. Served with labneh and a spicy schug sauce, this was quite good Malawach egg-in-the-hole - flatbread topped with two fried eggs, schug, resek, and Bulgarian feta - maybe a little too much feta. This was also very good, but very salty with all that cheese on top. The eggs were kind of lost in the mix. The schug worked really well with the dish, but I had to use it sparingly because it was rather spicy. Shakshuka - traditional eggs in a tomato stew. I did not sample this, but it was well-liked by the person who ordered it. The only major issue with our meal is that while the Israeli breakfast and the Malawach came out fairly quickly, there was a very, very long interval between the arrival of those and the shakshuka. It was at least 15 minutes, probably even longer. Our server did apologize, but still it made for an asymmetric dining experience. Prices were quite reasonable; a similar meal back home probably would be at least 20% more expensive. The atmosphere was lively but not so loud as to make it hard to have a conversation. I always enjoy the food at Dizengoff. However, although the remodeling that they did a couple years ago is beautiful and it now now has a bright, colorful atmosphere and bar, I kind of miss the old, tiny and unpolished charm of the prior restaurant (same location). The service is friendly and fairly prompt, but as the restaurant popularity has grown, it has become busier and you may have to wait. Additionally, I believe the prices have increased a bunch since this remodeling and rebranding of the same restaurant. It's another Michael Solomonov success, and I congratulate him and his team. Although I miss the old place, I will still return because it is good food. I especially like the chicken schnitzel and have had it as a platter and on the kale salad; I often have leftovers for lunch the next day. Also, the hummus is always creamy and delicious. The Turkish hummus that is served warm is good, but I'm not a big fan of strong garlic and it was a little strong garlic for me... The two that I ordered are really good. They are both very smooth and creamy. One has beef and pine nuts that add more flavors. The other one is served hot and it has a really unique taste that I like. Though it can feel a bit too much if you eat a lot. I wish the garlic flavor is spread across more evenly. Our waitress started off attentive but disappeared for over *30* minutes after serving the food. We weren't checked on, offered dessert, or given the bill until we flagged another staff member. It seemed like our table was forgotten, despite the restaurant not being busy. The manager did handle the situation professionally and apologized which we appreciated. We of course gave a nice tip to the waitress given that she did provide good service in the beginning, but the wait and inconsistency of her service was not acceptable. NOTE: I don't believe in nitpicking or complaining unnecessarily--I've worked in the service industry myself and deeply respect the challenges of the job. I hadn't been to Dizengoff in a while, and everything is different! If you've been to Dizengoff before, you might remember it as a small hummusiya (casual cafe serving hummus other fast dishes). But in the summer of 2023, it closed. For the next few months, the space and the space next door (RIP Abe Fisher; I miss that restaurant) were renovated. In January 2024, the new Dizengoff opened. Now, it's a beautiful, full-service restaurant. The menu is now quintupled in size, with great drink menu to match. But the quality hasn't changed. Our group of four enjoyed the Tafrit experience, which is a family-style experience for the table. You start with a hummus sample, and then each person - all people at the table have to participate - can choose a salad or mezze and a entree for $53/per person. It was probably too much food (we got too full and weren't able to finish our entrees or even think about dessert, even though I would have loved some Malabi), but I'm really glad we were able to try so much of the menu. We started with our hummus platter: Hummus Tehina (their classic hummus), Hummus Yerushalmi (hummus with beef, baharat spice, pine nuts, and parsley), and Turkish Hummus (hummus baked with brown butter, crispy garlic, and urfa pepper). Served with plenty of pita (that was fluffy and soft and beautiful but not hot), all three were great. We all had different favorites. For our salad/mezze choices, we tried the Shish Barak (smoked code, fava beans, and red chermoula); English Pea Falafel (with herbed labneh, kishk, and cucumber); Za'atar Seared Tuna (Castelvetrano olives, kale, and zhug); and Moroccan Cigars (beef, mushroom, Izak spice, hot honey, and raw tehina). Of these, I thought three was excellent. The Shish Barak didn't work for any of us (strange flavor that I couldn't identify at all without refreshing my memory by taking a look at the menu again), but the other three?! A table favorite (although it wasn't my favorite of the mezze) was the Moroccan Cigars, which was sweet and savory and crispy and flaky. The falafel was a bright, fresh, delicious bite. I could have eaten all five myself. The Za'atar Seared Tuna was also bright and flavorful, and unique. I loved every bite. For the entrees, we tried the Chicken Schnitzel (with leek babaganoush), Za'atar Roast Chicken (with crispy garlic and an arugula and sumac onion salad), roasted cauliflower (with passionfruit amba, poblano, zhug, and pepitas); and the slow-roasted lamb neck (date molasses, fennel, and pistachio dukkah). All four were really good. The lamb neck is a little rich and sweet for my taste, but the other three really blew me away. The schnitzel was so thin and yet so moist - a delicious schnitzel. The cauliflower read a little more steamed than roasted (wish it had a more of a char/roast/crust; it was a little soft), but the flavor was great (I didn't get passionfruit from the amba but I did love the way it tasted). And the roast chicken was delicious: a half chicken, both the leg and breast were great. And the skin?! I loved the very bright salad it was served with, too. Overall, the food was very good! So were the drinks. Between the four of us, we tried two wines and three or four cocktails. I really loved my sumac onion Gibson - delicious. I wish they had a few more Middle Eastern wines by the glass, since I wanted or stick with wines from the region, but they have a great wine list, too. The service was good, and the decor and ambiance were great. The restaurant is casual but cool - and a great place for a fun, delicious dinner with friends, family, a date, or by yourself! Out of the 7 of us I may have been the only one slightly disappointed. The restaurant being associated with Zahav held high expectations for me - not that anything was really wrong but the food, for me, didn't reach Zahav's level We went with the Family-style menu which gave you a wide assortment of choices that you might want to share and which, price-wise, was worth the cost. With this menu the table gets a Hummus Sampler - which means 3 different selections. For 7 people it was on the skimpy side with one at our table asking if it came with a refill - the answer was no. I won't go into all that was ordered but from my selections I found the Moroccan Cigar good but nothing all that unique other than its shape. The Za'atar Roast Chicken was half a chicken in a delicious sauce with crispy garlic and arugula but was on the dry side. Another review for Dizengoff now that I've visited the new upgraded location! I went for dinner with a few colleagues. We easily made reservations for a weeknight and were seated right in front, so we had great views of the whole restaurant. My initial Diz experience was their casual spot that was mostly take out so this was a HUGE glow up but without compromising any of the flavor. The ambience was just right, fitting the overall vibes and with welcoming decor. Our server was absolutely fantastic, sharing so much advice on the menu and their honest takes on various items. We started off with a sampling of the various hummus plates, which were all excellent. The seasonal hummus was so divine, but nothing beats their classic - the creaminess is unparalleled and the flavors just don't disappoint. The pita is what dreams are made of - so fluffy and soft and the perfect vehicle for scooping up the goodies. I'm not going to lie, I ate a lot of hummus so I was barely hungry for my real meal! At the server's rec, I opted for the eggplant which was a great selection. The eggplant itself was massive, perfectly charred and with creamy interior. Not sure why it took me so long to figure out Dizengoff offers a brunch, but sure glad I finally discovered it! Their brunch menu offers many of the Israeli staples, some reimagined brunch plates, and of course, a variety of hummus! We started off with some cocktails --- I ordered the tequila (pineapple, aperol, lime) and my friend ordered the vodka (rose, pomegranate, lime), and both were delicious. They offer the classic Lemonana, a favorite from other Solomonov restaurants, but only in frozen form. I asked if they could do it on the rocks for my second round and wound up with a regular vodka lemonade, so I don't recommend this option. In terms of food, you absolutely HAVE to get at least one hummus. We landed on the Hummus Kishu, which featured a tomato sauce and roasted zucchini. The texture of their hummus is divine, and their pillowy pitas make a perfect pairing. They also offered us cucumbers to dip as well, which were a refreshing add. I chose the Sabich for my main, which I typically love. This version was good, but not great, in part because I feel like it was not well layered. The haminado egg was kind of plopped on top and it was challenging to get a bite that incorporated all of the flavors. However, we decided to end with their Chocolate Pita French Toast, which was one of the most unique and most delicious takes on French Toast I have ever had. They layer their pitas with chocolate, deep fry it, and add cinnamon sugar, creating a symphony of textures and flavors. If you're on the fence about ordering this, just do it... definitely my favorite bite of the morning. read more

I went with my family, thinking we would be getting simple shwarma or falafel. This menu was anything but simple: inspired variety of hummus apps, large platters easy for sharing, and fascinating beverages that enhance the flavor of the food! We shared hummus with roasted mushrooms, Turkish hummus, pickles/olives, pita, schnitzel platter, and sabich (eggplant platter). Everything was amazing. Ate at Dizengoth in Philadelphia, PA. Modern Israeli fare. Lemonada, Tel Aviv Sunset, hummus with beef, pita, chicken schnitzel platter. Ambiance is very cool with great music. Israeli chic vibe. yum!! we came for dinner at dizengoff on a monday evening, and it was packed. luckily, we were able to get seated at the bar. the food took a minute to arrive, but it was delicious. highly recommend the roasted cauliflower (tahini based) and the chicken schnitzel (with a vibrant and bright dill sauce). I also loved the hummus sampler, though was disappointed by the amount of hummus you actually get. My favorite was the specialty hummus, while my partner enjoyed the turkish one. service was friendly though it could be hard to get attention to get water. really charming interior and plenty of seating for big groups (though highly recommend a reservation). read more
