Greatly enjoyed a lovely set-menu Lebanese dinner at Li Beirut. The dining room is lovely and, when full, energetic, though the service is both attentive and low key. You can feel that it's family-owned-and-operated. The 3-course set menu was great--we had three in our dinner party, so we automatically received 8 mezze + paper-thin pita (refilled without asking when the staff saw we were running low) to share, we each picked 1 of 10 entrees, and each chose 1 of 3 desserts for the final course. Some of the mezze (all delicious!): fattoush salad, hummus, baba ghannouj, labne, mouhamara, warak enab bel zeit, soujouk, batata harra. I had the Mixed Grill for One, which allowed me to try the Shish Taouk (grilled marinated chicken with special garlic sauce), Shish Kebab (grilled marinated filet mignon), Lamb Chop with grilled onion, tomato, jalapeño, roasted potatoes. Well I seated immediately as this was a Tuesday night. Crowd seemed local. I ordered the haleema with fig and Samke Hara a braised fish dish. The cheese with fig jam was seasoned well with a nice char. It was delicious. Well when the Samke Hara arrived I was ready. And I wasn't disappointed. Poor service. I'm not sure how this restaurant has such high ratings. We were seated in a corner without menus and waited at least 20 minutes before one of the two male servers finally came over. The restaurant wasn't overly busy, so there didn't seem to be a reason for the delay. The food was heavy and, in my opinion, not worth the price. The only positives were that the table was cleared promptly and our water glasses were refilled several times. Overall, the service was very inattentive. The family that owns and runs this place is incredible. Just the warmest most welcoming. The food was out of this world. We got the tasting pair because that's just what you do.. She got the Branzino and I had the mixed Grill. Before the entrees we added the grilled Halloumi with fig!!!! WILDLY DELICIOUS.! The mixed grill was excellent in the way of taste but each of the meats was just a little more cooked than I prefer. Specifically the steak and lamb chop. That being said we still ate every morsel of the meats. We share everything so I believe next time we will probably do the Branzino and the short rib, because we will ABSOLUTELY BE RETURNING! Amazing experience at this Lebanese tasting menu where we went with a large group. I highly recommend this tasting menu for a group or bday. The entree choices are all delicious especially the mixed grill plate which has filet mignon, chicken breast, a meatball and a lamb chop. It's a lot of food. Because we went with kids, I stupidly left my purse at the restaurant! They called me promptly to alert me and we turned right around to get it. Every cent was in my bag. Food and service was absolutely wonderful. Making a reservation was tricky and was told the day before had to make it on app only and took forever to download app and want successful. The food was delicious and quantity was great too. My only issue was that the tables are relatively close together and after each table change they use this super smelly toxic cleaner and it was next to my table and the spray got into my food and drink and unfortunately lungs. A client recommended 2 restaurants to us & this was 1. Parking is difficult here but we were able to park in the church parking lot, which is a little tight for all the suvs that were there. The decor is nice. It was very loud here with people talking. You get used to it after a bit but we were surprised at the noise level even with a bunch of empty tables. The food was good. We did the 5 course but we didn't like the desserts at all so wished we would've just ordered a la carte bc also the bread course was small only being 2 pieces of rolls which were delicious but skkmpy- we wanted more. In addition the shawarma beef had too much cinnamon flavor but was so fresh and perfectly tender! I would return and overall consider the meal and experience 9.5/10. Whew, what a feast. Li Beirut, located in the old IndeBlue space on Collings Ave. in Collingswood, is a welcoming restaurant with reasonably priced Lebanese cuisine. A friend recommended the tasting menu, but the items I really wanted to try weren't part of it so I opted against it. However, I will definitely go back and try the tasting menu sometime! I ordered their rose drink to start, which was nice and very sweet. For my cold mezza, I ordered the delightful and light Chankleesh (Feta cheese, onion, tomato, zaatar) and also tried some of my friend's Fassolia, which was also tasty. From the hot mezza, I ordered the grilled halloumi cheese with fig jam. Soooo good. Maybe the highlight for me. As my main, I selected the beef shawarma, which was really well done. Service did take a while, especially toward the end when we wanted to order desserts to go and grab our check. One of the ladies working let the owner know that we had been waiting a long time (we hadn't said anything about it but it was pretty obvious) and he brought us over a dessert (the Ghazal Beirut) on the house! Came in on a night when it was a full house. I liked the music coming in, but once you get inside it's drowned out by the noise of all the patrons. The night we came was also the $55 preset menu. So you receive an order of appetizers and then got to choose your entree and dessert. Everything was great, it was just a lot of food for 2 people. Who would've thought in South Jersey you could find traditional Lebanese food. It took about 20 minutes for them to bring us a menu, but it doesn't matter because the food was excellent. And I believe that's a one off anyway. Because I saw people that came in after us they got their menus right away. We will be raving about this place for quite some time, I'm sure. We had a reservation for 7:15 and were given our choice of tables when we arrived. We had the choice of the large, airy and sunny front room, or the darker, smaller and more intimate back room. We chose the latter. We both ordered the taste of Lebanon for $55 per person which was phenomenal. It's a lot of money but worth every penny. First, the portions. Have you ever run an ultramarathon and worked up such an appetite that you gorged yourself afterwards? Have you ever been lost in the woods for weeks, on the brink of starvation, then brought to an all-you-can-eat buffet when the ordeal was over? Have you ever gone toe to toe with Joey Chestnut in a hotdog eating competition? None of those scenarios will come close to the amount of food you get at Li Beirut. We were stuffed by the end and practically needed a forklift to get us out of the building. Second, the taste. The amount of flavors and textures on our table throughout the meal was otherworldly, each one rich and decadent and perfectly prepared. I can't remember the last time I ate so well. Third, the overall atmosphere. Such a beautifully decorated space. Attentive and friendly staff. Met up with a friend for a girls night. Right from the top, there's parking so you don't have to drive around and find a place. We were one of the first people to arrive after opening and the atmosphere was so cozy and inviting. We sat by the window and were immediately taken care of. The menu is simple and easy to navigate. Everything was so flavorful and nicely prepared - the food was not only tasty but also visually appealing. Mediterranean cuisine is my favorite and this place taste very authentic. We savored every bite. I can't pick between the two desserts - they were both unique and delicious. Dry meat/Poor Service. No way this place gets 4.8 stars compared to the lesser-rated and far-superior Suraya across the river. Young, inattentive servers who returned once to refill water and never asked how our food was. Mezze was OK, but second part of it didn't arrive until the 90-minute mark, and only after us asking multiple times. Pita not fresh-tasting. Mixed grill was bland, overcooked meat without a hint of pink in the lamb or filet. Pistachio ice cream simply wasn't that--it was an icy, tasteless blob sprinkled with crushed pistachios and topped with an interesting cotton candy-like mesh. Try Wegman's amazing pistachio ice cream for comparison. Nobody at our large table left satisfied, and the included 20% gratuity certainly wasn't earned. read more

My girlfriend and I were trying to find someplace we haven't been yet to go for dinner for New Year's Eve. After searching highly rated restaurants on Yelp and looking through pictures we landed on Li Beirut. The food looked delicious and the reviews were all very positive. Li Beirut was only offering their tasting menu on New Year's Eve called A Taste Of Lebanon for $55 / person (perfectly fine with us because we would've went with that option regardless). Our reservations were at 5:30 for 2 people. We arrived a few minutes early, decided to park down a side street and had a short walk to the restaurant. It looked like they had parking behind the building but I wasn't totally sure. The restaurant was very easy to get to and is byob which is always a plus! Once we walked in we were greeted and asked where we wanted to be seated. The main part of the restaurant was a little brighter and had more tables/people so we elected to be seated in the back section of the restaurant. There were no doors or barriers separating the two but there were a few steps leading up to the back and it definitely seemed more secluded and romantic. As part of the tasting menu the table received 7 different starters known as Mezza (Hummus, Baba Ghannouj, Labne, Mouhamara, Warri Enab, Soujouk, and Batata Harra), a salad to split, 1 entree per guest, and one dessert per guest. Reviews we read specifically mentioned the large portion sizes and the amount of food you receive and they were spot on. The first 5 items I mentioned above fall under the Cold Mezza and were served with fresh pita bread (and as much as you wanted so be careful not to get too full like we did lol). I love stuffed grape leaves and was the most excited about these out of all the Mezza. My girlfriend on the other hand loves Baba Ghanouj. Each of the spreads had such unique texture and flavor. Some were light, airy, and refreshing. Others were smooth and creamy. They were all so good I honestly couldn't pick my favorite. The 2 hot Mezza we were served came out after the cold Mezza and before the main courses. The sauce the sausage was cooked in and served in was delicious while the potatoes were crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. We were really hoping to order the Tabbouleh salad as this is one of our favorite dishes, but we were served the Fattoush salad instead. It's okay though because it was also great. I loved the vinaigrette, radishes, and noticeable mint leaves in the salad. The kicker was the fried pita sprinkled on top! By the time we got to our main courses arrived we were stuffed! She ordered baked cod served in tahini sauce with rice. I ordered the mixed grill for one which came with a ground beef kebab, marinated chicken, filet mignon, and a lamb chop. We both love tahini so we loved the sauce the fish was served in and the cod tasted fresh. The assortment of meats I was served were all tender and seasoned so well. Again, I couldn't decide which I liked best. We ordered our dessert to go and had to take portions of our entrees home! Our first experience at Li Beirut was as good as one could hope. The food was exceptional, the service was great, the restaurant was cute inside. All of the employees were professional, respectful, and accommodating. The value for what we received was incredible. Next time we're back we agreed we'd order food off of the menu instead of doing the tasting menu just because it was so much to eat. Didn't realize how difficult it was to get into this place when we tried on Monday to get a reservation for 4 on that Saturday even at 5:00p, but they would only take us at 4:30p. We were the first customers to arrive at 4:25p and pretty much had our choice of tables at that time. Since they only offer their $55pp tasting menu on the weekends, we only had to choose our entrees (all 4 of us opted for the mixed grill) and desserts (we got 4 different ones to share. The 2 salads, 9 cold/warm small plate appetizers and pitas came out quickly ... giving us plenty to taste and try. Everything was good ... but some of the pita seemed a bit colder and harder than it should have been. Then, our mixed grills came out and the meats were super tasty ... where sides included some veggies, breads, and more potatoes (which were too similar to the large bowl of potato apps we got). It could have used some rice (which I really wish we got) or some tzatziki (which our friend requested and got to break up the rich food). Everyone was pretty full by dessert ... but we still liked the (small portions of) cotton candy ice cream, butter cake, kanafe cheese, and milk pudding.
