These guys are just about as honest as they come. I recently took my 2005 Prius in because of a knocking sound in the engine. Originally they diagnosed it as something wrong with the axel and had a part ordered which was going to cost me around $400. So after a few days I returned the car to have the part put in. Later in the day I get a call from one of the guys there. He explains that he had a hunch about the knocking sound, so he did a few more tests before putting in the the part they had ordered. It turns out the sound was coming from the transmission, and unfortunately that would be a fix that was worth more than the car itself. Unfortunate for my car, but whatever, get this, he tells me that he wasn't going to charge me anything ($0.00) since the problem hadn't actually been fixed. He said he was just going to that he hadn't put in that expensive part for my sake. The other day I took in my old pick up truck because the check engine light was on. The owner, Robert, came out to take a look at it and took time to explain the problems to me and some of the easy solutions that I could do to fix it myself. And then of course he doesn't charge me anything. These are people you can trust! read more

My air conditioner wasn't working out of the blue one day and I finally visited APS auto after my graveyard shift one morning. My Dad recommended them so I decided to check them out since they said on the phone that they would give me a free consultation/diagnosis. He told me the price of a new one and I said that I only needed the fan to work for the defroster and he took the time to achieve that for me. Great communication and great customer service. I was referred to APS for MAJOR engine work. I was very nervous because I'd never been to the shop, and didn't know anything about them. I was appreciative that every little detail of the repair was explained to me from why I needed it to how the repair was going to be done. That was almost 4 years ago. Robert has kept my vehicle in perfect condition ever since. It's not often you see a vehicle with 197,000 miles on it and the reason it keeps going is because of APS. The shop is knowledgeable, trustworthy and does the job right at a reasonable price. Ladies: They don't tell you a bunch of hooey and then charge you an arm and a leg. He always explained the diagnosis and my options in terms I could understand. I never felt that he tried to take advantage of me because I know nothing about cars except their make, model and color. We purchased an old Ford pick-up (1967). I was referred to Robert by our neighbor in Atascadero. I wanted a few things checked and done on this old truck. I was told by the seller of this truck it needed shocks and it had a rear brake that would lock up occasionally (when braking). It also had squeaking belts. I brought the truck over and discussed with Robert my concerns and he came out to look it over. First thing he did was check the rear suspension and recommended AGAINST replacing the rear shocks! Keep in mind I would have replaced all 4 if he said it needed doing. I wondered how many other shops would have taken me for a ride and would have just said "Oh yeah, it needs 4 shocks". I ended up spending way less than anticipated and I did not get that call we all dread "well....there are some other issues you better take care of while it's here". He was more than fair, brakes were adjusted and work great. New belts installed and sounds like new. New front shocks installed and rides like a dream for a 50 year old truck (was sold in 66 as a 67). Cannot say enough good things about this shop. He is one of the good guys! read more

Do you want your vehicle serviced by one of the kindest and most knowledgeable human beings on the planet?! I brought my car here for a serious job that several mechanics had a go at prior, but had continuously misdiagnosed and improperly doctored. I had been circling through a circus of mechanics trying various repair jobs to remedy my car from overheating, and told my car was finally ready for my roadtrip from LA to SF, when it gave out in the middle of nowhere! Luckily, I was fortunate enough to get it going to get me to an unfamiliar shop in a place called Atascadero, where I found myself stranded essentially. What can be fortunate about being stranded halfway between my travel points? Finding one of the best mechanics who explained in detail and basically broke down everything I needed to know about what was wrong with my car, how he was going to fix it, how to keep up with regular maintenance - and even my payments! Did I mention that I did not know this man? All that in record time, mind you! I needed a cylinder head that he had ordered that afternoon and ready the next day, which is almost unheard of - but Robert and his assistant Della, are angels that have demonstrated utmost kindness to strangers, a rare and genuine sense of integrity and the ability to perform miracles! Don't even let me get started on the dauntingly lovely and awe-provoking Della - deep, wise, warm, and wonderful, this woman that I just met one day when I was getting my car fixed is now one I gratefully consider as my soul sister! (Love!) I left APS - Angels Performing Service - with a completely functional ride, two amazing friends I've kept in touch with over the years, and an expert whose big brilliant brain I've picked at a time or two. I cannot say enough good things about Robert and APS Automotive. Last summer my husband and I were on the last leg of our road trip and broke down on the side of the freeway. We were almost 100 miles away from our hotel on a Friday night. We found APS on our phones and made a desperate call at about 7pm, hoping that a recording might tell us we'd be lucky enough to get our car fixed on a Saturday. Robert answered. The word that comes to mind is INTEGRITY. He helped us line up a tow truck and even offered to wait for us to get our car towed to his shop, which would have taken well over an hour. We decided to have it towed to our hotel and then to his shop in the morning. When we arrived bright and early, he was waiting for us and even offered to not only have someone drive us back to our hotel, but also to have someone deliver our car back to us (his shop is about 20 miles from our hotel). Talk about customer service! Because he had already gone so far out of his way to help, we decided to walk down the street and eat breakfast while they worked on the car. Within the hour, we received a call that our car was fixed, and we able to drive it back to our hotel and enjoy the last day/night of our vacation. Little did we know at the time, Robert wasn't even planning on coming in that day, until he knew we needed our car fixed to be able to make it back to Arizona by Monday to go back to work. What a great person! Had we not found Robert and APS, we would have had to miss work on Monday, and spend more nights on a hotel. Every other place we looked up wasn't even open until Monday.
