Absolutely the best Cambodian food in Providence. Great portions and friendly service.

I ordered a lunch through Uber Eats and the experience was lackluster. The Uber Eats experience was horrible, but that does not have to do anything directly with the Apsara experience. The lunch combo was large and plentiful. I ordered the Spare ribs with egg roll, wings and plain fried rice. - The ribs were dry and not very flavorful. They did not taste fresh - The egg roll was soggy, so I had to put in toaster oven to reconstitute - The wings were not bad - The plain fried rice was not good at all. Lacking flavor. The main thing is that the whole meal went right through me, within minutes of eating it, I had to go to the bathroom. Will not oder from this restaurant again. read more

I love their a Cambodian spring rolls and lunch specials. Parking can' be complicated on busy nights but it's so worth it. They have indoor and outdoor dining. GREAT food and large portions at Apsara: I ordered takeout for myself - stir-fried noodles (Cambodian style) w/gravy and beef. The noodles were soft, the gravy was savory, and the dish itself was huge! For $8, you'll get a bang for your buck. Of course, I had to get myself some Thai garlic wings. Crispy, savory, and a hint of lime! I guarantee you'll devour the whole thing in one sitting just like I did. At the moment, they are only doing takeout. The service is quick, food is warm, and the menu is cheap! Especially for the amount of food, my family and I (4 people) were stuffed when we got takeout for dinner. Heard it was very good. Apparently it was people who don't know food. They are a jack of all trades and master of none type of restaurant for people who don't know what authentic Asian food should be like. A little bit of this and a little bit of that. I ordered the Cambodian spring rolls, the crispy wings in Thai garlic sauce and beef loc lac for delivery. My first recommendation when ordering food for delivery is to just skip all the deep fried items. They don't stay very crispy. Not sure if they sent me the wrong spring rolls. I think I wound up with the Thai spring rolls since it had mushrooms in it. Either way, the price is not bad, but the rolls are extremely thin and they just kind of wind up being nothing but greasy sticks of lumpia wrapper. The crispy wings were pretty good. They come covered with jalapeños and chili peppers but are not overly spicy. They're very flavorful and large wings. But what truly impressed me was the beef loc lac. I grew up eating this dish so I'm always wary of ordering this dish. This is actually the first time I've ordered it from any restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. It was delicious! Although I would have preferred it with watercress, it was still quite enjoyable. I'd definitely order from them again! read more

First visit to an old time southeast Asian joint that looks lived-in and looks the part with a high percentage of Asian clientele. The menu is huge, with good representation of Thai, Cambodian, and Vietnamese, as well as multiple offshoots of many of the dishes. This is especially great if you're a wings fan. Parking can be a challenge, but it's worth the extra steps. There are entrances on both sides of the building, saving you some steps. I'll certainly be back, but the first crack was only at the appetizers. Thai Crispy Wings with Garlic Sauce: These are gigantic wing pieces, made larger by the crunchy batter. There's not much sauce to speak of, but they do have a strong flavor from lime, probably more so than the garlic, with nice accents of cilantro and jalapeno. The crunch lasts a while too, but probably best to eat these at the table rather than taking home for the next day. Lemongrass Wings: These are equally gargantuan, but with a completely different no-batter red tint crust, covered with a very thick sauce that adheres well and brings a savory presence similar to a mild curry. Peanuts are sprinkled on top as a garnish, and there's a faint nuttiness in the sauce. Very different from the kind of wings you see at most wing joints and even most Asian joints. Ribs in Oyster Sauce: A couple of expectation adjustment required here. Though called "ribs," it's more of an assortment of pork pieces, presumably roasted and deep fried to crisp them up. Some have bones; some don't. Some are straight; some are curved. Some are short; some are long. All have a nice crunch to the outside; most are tender inside, with some having a little chew. The sauce isn't your typical old time Chinese restaurant oyster sauce. Here, it's much thicker and stickier, adding sweetness, saltiness and heat along the way. Enjoyable. The servers here have lots of personality and good humor, adding to the experience. Portions are huge, prices are low, and quality is high. read more

We dine here several times a year as the food is good and inexpensive with large helpings. Last night, for the first time we were disappointed. We shared three dishes between the two of us: a fried rice, a pork and broccoli, and scallion pancakes. The first two were tasteless. It was a Sunday and the place was chaotic with inefficient waitstaff. It's made us hesitant about coming here again, specially when there are similar restaurants in the area. A pity. read more

I love coming here to eat but once in a while I'll do takeout from here to just have a chill night in and every single time I've ordered takeout the food isn't as best when you're dining in. I usually get combination meekathang or the wide flat noodles and they don't skimp out on the meat but the last 2 times I've ordered this for takeout I only got 1 shrimp but if I were to dine in I would get at least 3 and the sauce is more flavorful. We have frequented Apsara restaurant when in the mood for well seasoned Asian cuisine. Wife likes their dumplings and I like their ribs. Food is always good and packaged well for takeout. I was only passing by when I remembered that there was a Cambodian restaurant in Rhode Island that I most definitely had to try. I was amazed of how beautiful the restaurant looked and the friendly staff and let's not forget the delicious food. The portions were huge and the price was unbelievable. An institution one of the best places for a wide variety of Asian food in RI. The spicy satay noodles, bee bong and other noodle dishes are staples I've been going back to for years and they never disappoint. The only place I know of in the area that does NaTang and it's magical! Besides the food the place is run like a well oiled machine and even during the lunch/dinner rushes they are very organized and handle it well. Can't say enough good things. read more

This was my students choice For a reward lunch , she wanted chicken LoMein and an egg roll. She says this is the best place in Providence. I will have to agree the service was friendly and fast and the prices were fair. I got the Crispy Tilapia with the red curry sauce. It was fantastic! The fish needed a little salt but it Was cooked perfectly. The Veggies in the red curry were fresh and delicious and I loved the taste of the red curry sauce. Wow! I've been on a bit of an Asian cuisine kick of late so had to add this the list, since it was highly recommended by a colleague. We went for lunch one afternoon, to the Providence location. A little off the beaten path, the parking was not ideal, yet we scored a spot in the small and rough lot, by the door. The interior was very nice and the service excellent. We ordered soup - Hot and Sour, which was about the best I've ever tasted, and crispy chicken wings in garlic sauce, which were amazing. We each ordered from the lunch special menu, although a little time has passed and I cannot recall, with certainty, what we had. What I do remember is that everything was amazingly good and we all took doggy bags back to the office for lunch again the following day. The menu is impressive and includes Thai, Cambodian, Vietnamese and Chinese cuisines. Definitely on my list of places to revisit! read more

I have ordered from this restaurant so many times and each time I eat their food, it is just simply a delicious experience. I have never had anything remotely close to even an "all right meal" - it's all been so amazing. The menu is expansive and I admittedly have not come close to trying a large majority of it. However the crispy wings Thai garlic sauce, the beef teriyaki, the nime chow are favorites and far better than anything else in the area. Apsara is one restaurant that I would go to every day If I could. It is that good. I am disappointed that they do not have sit down service since Covid as the eat in experience was incredible when the food is served immediately. Don't let that stop you from going here for take out, easy to order online and pick it up. The menu is huge. The Pad Thai is possibly the best I have ever had and there are a number if items that I just cant seem to get enough of. Nihm Chow, Pad Thai, Bebong, beef Loc Lac and on and on. I am not exaggerating when I say that this is my favorite restaurant in the whole world. Growing up in Providence my dad took me here probably once a week. The family that owns the place are some of the kindest people...and the food is so incredibly good. I moved to Denver from RI about 15 years ago and I still miss the food at Apsara. We used to frequent this place before the pandemic. Glad it's back up and running. The food has always been good and it still is. My disappointment was in how the food was served. We were hungry and ordered a lot of food. It was only two of us. I never dreamed that the waiter would bring everything at once. But there it was. There was no room on the table for us to eat off a plate so we ate off the plate on which the food was brought to the table. Of course, most of it was cold by the time we got around to it.
