This is my favorite go to neighborhood go to's. My favorites include the pineapple chicken rice you can taste the a hint of curry in the rice. I ordered a large it fed my family of four an still had leftovers. Next on the list was the Thai chicken wings. Finger licking good. They are crispy an so flavorful. With every bit you can taste the lime cilantro an the hint of spice in them. My son enjoyed the chicken in oyster sauce. I didn't get a chance to try them. This place gets really busy an packed at times. I ordered my food to go the line was out the door. It's clean on the inside. Staff is very friendly. I'm happy that I gave them a try. This place used to be my go to years ago when I lived relatively close by. I hadn't been here in ages but was pleasantly surprised when I realized I could have it delivered via Postmates. So thrilled to have some new options for delivery! This place has huge portions for affordable prices. I ordered the udon satay which my bf loved. I thought it was good as well but not my favorite. I like things that have a bit more heat. We also ordered the Thai chicken wings which were amazing! The flavor was soo good that I almost wished we ordered two orders! We also ordered the spicy ribs which have always been my go to. They were delicious and well seasoned. We ordered an order of their pineapple fried rice which has a bit of curry spice and the order was huge for a "small". The rice was good but needed a bit of salt. Aside from that everything was delicious and I can't wait to order again and try some things I spotted on their menu. Overall I was very happy with our food and this will now be another place to order from when I'm too tired to cook lol. read more

Ordered nim chow, "pork buns" and pad Thai takeout. Nim chow was OK. The "pork buns" were a mound of mystery meat with the texture of wet cardboard, the flavor of cough syrup, and the buns had the consistency of rubber gloves. What I miss most about living in Rhode Island has to be apsara! They have the best chicken wings around, I mean I actually sat there and tried to guess what they put in those damn wings. Whatever it is, it's absolutely delicious, spicy, and aromatic beyond belief. Everything that you order from this small restaurant is a home run, I haven't found one thing on the menu that didn't make me roll my eyes back in tastelicious nirvana. Being a native New Yorker means I have lots of options but nothing beats apsara, especially the service. They are direct, quick, and so polite. The woman that runs the whole operation is so good that she even remembered me. I was shocked because I usually take my order to go but she knew that I loved their ground pork cooked in coconut milk with crispy rice crackers. She said it was her favorite too. After that she knew it was always part of my order when she saw me. They also have very good bubble teas, which for some reason is so hard to find in Rhode Island. If you are in the area, definitely stop by and gives some patronage to this place because they deserve it. read more

On a whim, my husband and I ordered takeout from Apsara. It completely exceeded our expectations! Everything was superb. They have a very extensive menu so I wasn't sure how it would translate but honestly everything we tried was amazing. We ordered nime chow, Cambodian spring rolls, and hot and sour soup for appetizers. We shared the pattaya noodle & chicken curry rice noodle soup which was super flavorful with ample spice. It has been easily five years since I have been over here. Apsara used to be on my regular repetoire 10 - 15 years ago. It was and is BYOB and it really was the only decent place to get REAL asian food back then...and one of the only places you could find nime chow in RI (Thai Star was good for it, too). A repeated busy signal at my first choice take-out left my mind to wander about what else I could summon up...as I was in the Elmwood Ave area, Apsara came to mind. I called in my order and drove over expecting a wait. I got there and it was packed full of folks enjoying food and their own wine and sixes. Also a ton of folks picking up their to-go's... I brought home a generous portion of Chicken Bee Boong and two orders of nime chow. The Bee Boong is as well done as I remember...warm tender pieces of chicken,served over noodles with a cool compliment of cucumbers, sprouts, and coconut milk. Finely ground peanuts sprinkled atop were the proverbial icing on the cake. The nime chow had a soft rice wrapper with four huge shrimp that were cooked to perfection. Huge portion that my husband and I shared with leftovers for today's lunch (gotta hurry up and finish this review so I can beat him to them). The ladies room was a little creepy for my tastes. Having been here before, I knew it was down the stairs, but no signs to be had on any of the four doors down there. What's up?? I picked the correct door on the second try. But I have seen better bathrooms at dive bar. Hover all the way. Just an FYI. This part of town is not well-lit and has a reputation for being a little seedy. No one will bother you, but make sure you lock up your goodies when you go inside. The upside of the neighborhood is that there are many choices from which to choose your BYOB beverage. I've ordered from here on Uber eats a few times. What I can say is the portions are always massive. You definitely get what you pay for. I'm sure eating there the food would be better than delivery but I'm usually satisfied. I've had there drunken noodles, Mongolian beef, spicy wings and they have all been good. read more

What a gem. My darling niece recommended this restaurant because it is a favorite of hers and her boyfriends. She's a vegetarian and has many choices there that are delicious. Upon her recommendation we tried the scallion pancakes which were so good. I got the shrimp pad thai which was probably the best Pad Thai that I've ever had. She got broccoli with tofu and although I am not a tofu fan it was really quite good. It is a BYOB so make sure that you come prepared and we got there at about 6:30. By 7:15 the place was packed. Not a lot of parking but definitely worth the trip. A nice family run restaurant with high quality food at good prices. If you get there and find that you don't have something to drink there is a liquor store right around the corner. read more

REALLY GOOD Asian food, with such a variety! Always packed & very good prices!! I recommend the shrimp Nim Chow (a spring roll, not fried, with rice noodles, fresh mint, and a fantastic sauce). Very confusing that there are 2 Apsara restaurants and people have very different opinions about them. Was recommended to try this one from a Cambodian from Providence, but I wasn't very impressed to be honest. First of all, the menu is way way too big. If you're going to present as a Cambodian restaurant then why have Chinese and Vietnamese and Thai and Burmese as well? At least stick to the closest flavor profiles in Burmese and Thai alone? And the menu is so disorganized - there should be a section that calls out the actual Cambodian dishes so you don't have to search through it all! Anyway, on the actual food... it was just ok. My favorite Cambodian restaurant used to be in Philly, and I expected something more or at least comparable given the Cambodian community here, but it feels like they've changed the flavor profiles closer to Thai and Chinese. The food is delicious and reasonably priced considering the economy right now. Service is as good as expected from such an establishment. My only drawback is the logistics of picking up orders. There is no set entrance and/or exit where people would be able to socially distance from one another, but considering that this restaurant was mainly a dine-in establishment before the pandemic, it will be overlooked. I've been going here for years. It's definitely my plan B when I can't figure out what to eat. It's convenient and the prices are decent. I normally stick to ordering the same items. Chicken and shrimp naim chow Crispy chicken wings w/ jalapeño and peppers Combination Cantonese noodles I usually do take out. There's no real "waiting" area. You're just in everyone's way. But their flow for seating customers and helping people stopping in to pick up take out, isn't bad. I don't mind dining in, but not very often. And it's BYOB. One of my top five favorite Cambodian restaurants in Providence. They have Chinese and Thai food there too but it's mainly a Cambodian (Khmer) restaurant. I've been coming here for years as well. The parking lot is pretty small but you can park on street too. The area is kinda sketchy but the restaurant is great. The service is usually good but I had some not so good service. I always order their crab rangoons because it might be the best in the state. They use a very thin and light wonton to hold the cream cheese and crab mixture; they fry it and it practically melts in your mouth. The pad Thai is also my usual go to, it was delicious and the portions were large. I had their prahok (fermented fish) it wasn't that good. If you want some good authentic Cambodian food, they have a lot to choose from here. (Loc Lac, Congee, Noodle soup, to name a few). This place is always packed. They also have another location which is smaller than this one. This one is the first one to open and it's open for years. Every time I visit Rhode Island, I try to stop by here at least once. read more

We used to go to the apsara on Hope st and was our all time favorite... then the last 3 times was terrible...So tried the one on Publuc St it was worse. The pork dumplings were flavorless... the orange chicken was doughy after 2 bites threw it away. Askrd for veg lo mien but unsure if there was meat because of suspicious chicken pieces... so none of our vegetarians could eat it. The tofu used to be fried but now is raw... threw away. This was the second time at this restaurant. My first experience I wasn't that impressed, my family raves about it so it resulted in going back when I was out-ruled on deciding where to go to lunch. Im happy that it happened because my second experience was great as I apparently made better food options! The parking is a little shaky, this location is street parking and is located in the hood. There was no wait but the staff is absolutely amazing, cheerful, nice, professional, list goes on. We had no wait as there is an ample amount of dining space but it was very busy with others getting lunch and take out. The food we ordered was brought out as it was done in the kitchen. All items didn't come out together but came out as soon as it was done. It was nice and hot. And I like how it's structured like that so we didn't run out of table space. I loved the crab rangoons, steamed pork dumplings, Nime chow, the chicken wings were amazinggggggg. We also ordered the general tso's shrimp. I got a coconut bubble tea to go that was delicious! If you have a big appetite, THIS IS YOUR PLACE! The place is clean. You have to park on the street. They have a descent space but it gets really full. I went for dinner and we had to wait for about 0.30 mts, but they were very nice while we were waiting and the wait was so worth it. There food is very flavorful and super delicious. Their portions are very big. It's like family style at least when it comes to the rice. I just wish I could eat a lot more. We took most of it home. My favorite was their Thai chicken wings. Came here with my wife and baby on a random Sunday for lunch. The place was bustling, and we waited around 10 minutes for a table which wasn't bad at all. We ordered from the lunch special, and the portions are ridiculously large and the food was delicious! Just an FYI, the menu can be a bit daunting as it's so long, but you'll definitely be able to find something you like. My wife and I ordered the stir fried udon noodles (shanghai style) with veggies, beef loc lac (awesome dish), and the chicken with broccoli. Wait staff was also super friendly. To management, you need to remediate several issues that the restaurant is currently dealing with that is affecting the overall customer and employee experience. 1. Invest in technology 2. Room for Expension *Invest in technology. PROBLEM: People who order through the phone make their way to the restaurant to have to wait their turn to pay this making their experience not so great RESOLUTION: Provide the ability for customers to pay Via web; It's 2019. This will aliviate the woman in the front who works so hard and diligently. Room to Expand: PROBLEM: Folks that make their way to the restaurant wait on average of about 30 to 40 minutes to be seated. This greatly reduces customer satisfaction and has a direct negative impact. Solution: Invest on providing the ability to have more room for customers by tearing walls and expand. This will alliviate wait time which we all know, we want things fast and easy. The above will alliviate how hard your employees work thus improving employee turnover.
