Definitely do not recommend ordering furniture from this company. Read the Better Business Bureau reviews. I ordered a couch and ottoman from this company and unfortunately the couch did not fit into my apartment. The delivery men did not explain what would happen next and so they took both pieces of furniture back to the warehouse for me to find out that I could not return them at this point--my options were (1) to have the items relisted on the site, (2) re-pay for delivery and to schedule a separate furniture doctor appointment to take apart the couch and get it into the apartment or (3) just lose out on the items. If they had been more clear about these options upfront then I would have told them to leave the ottoman. Instead I had to pay an additional delivery fee to have my ottoman returned to me. They have terrible customer service and their "money back guaranty" is a joke. I bought a couch from them; it arrived covered in cat hair. I requested to return the item as it was not as described--I'm sorry but "exposed to pets" is not the same as "covered in hair." They were extremely slow to respond and ultimately told me the item was as described even though it was not. I tried to dispute this with them, but they are slow to respond with conflicting information. Their attempts to resell were also pathetic. AptDeco is a complete and total scam. They took a very valuable piece of furniture from me, severely damaged it, and are refusing to take responsibility, apologize, or pay me what I am owed. This is theft. Avoid using this service at all costs, buying or selling. What happened: I listed and quickly sold my dresser and scheduled a pick-up. I was pleased with how easy it was to sell and the pick-up process was smooth. They did a thorough inspection of the item and confirmed the small scratches and dents that I described in the listing. A couple hours after they took it, I go to check the status and it says "sale cancelled" with no further explanation. I had to email customer service myself to ask what's up and messaged the buyer as well (the lack of communication and ability to call a human is a complete joke for a logistics company, but that's a whole separate issue). The buyer informed me that the delivery team broke the dresser leg getting it through her doorway (screenshot attached). Customer service emailed me and said that it was MY fault because the dresser was "faulty" and "didn't survive transit" which is a total lie. They told me the leg was glued on, which I was unaware of as I had been using this dresser without issue (including moving it a few times) for 3.5 years and was bought directly from West Elm. Additionally, if the item was not up to their standards in some way, they should have alerted me to that during the inspection and/or refused to take the item. The fact that they did not proves this is a lie so they can avoid paying me for it. AptDeco owes me $351 and had the audacity to offer to redeliver it back to me, broken, and CHARGE me for redelivery. Are you kidding me? My other option is to have them dispose of it in the trash. I thought that by choosing AptDeco instead of craigslist/FB marketplace that I would be avoiding scammy practices, but instead it turned out to be even worse . My perfectly nice 3-year old West Elm Dresser is now unusable trash and I am having to fight with this company over a small sum of money. Meanwhile, I've still not even so much as received an apology or acknowledgement for the damage that their team has caused. For a company that touts sustainability and ease, I might as well have thrown my dresser in the trash instead. Avoid at all costs and take the extra time to sell it yourself. You'll very likely get more money for it and at least you know it'll be going to a new home. read more

Be mindful that their delivery is NOT a white glove service, if you can pick up yourself do that. I was actually in touch with the seller another way but we thought that the delivery and building insurance offered through Apt Deco made going through them make more sense. I bought an outdoor sectional. but because of the weather and because it was outside on the porch over with the cushions didnt see until 3 days later the extent of the damage. i'm certain the damaged happened during the delivery. I missed the complaint window but even then that just assumes the item was broken before and abstains from any of their own fault. The delivery team was also given chair covers to bring but they left them behind. They charge the seller almost 50% and then add a significant service fee to the buyer. so in the end the seller gets 25% cut and they take 75%. read more

Process was easy and the free shipping is a huge bonus. The shipping crew was professional and courteous. They showed up on time. Aptdeco is simply the intermediary. The cabinet I bought came from the Pottery Barn outlet. A couple of days after it was delivered I noticed two large structural cracks along one side of the cabinet where large bolts were placed. I contacted Aptdeco and learned they have a policy that all damage must be reported within 24 hrs, so there was no recourse. I repaired the damage with glue, clamps and wood filler so the cabinet is useful but the discount was not even that much off retail. On the plus side, the platform works efficiently and the piece was delivered within a few days of ordering. That's a big plus in this tipsy turvy furniture market where long lead times are the norm. tl;dr -- be sure to inspect your product and report any damage within 24 hrs. Aptdeco is a worthwhile platform for purchasing used and distressed furniture from private sellers and retail outlets. read more

5 stars for the listing process. 2 stars for the execution. 1) The listing process was super easy and the listings look quite professional. No issues there. 2) One of my large items sold quickly. I was told that AptDeco would arrange for the item to be picked up and transported. This is where the issues started. 3) I received texts and calls from various movers. The first carrier texted me but didn't want to send someone on the weekend. The second carrier texted me and I responded but I didn't hear back from them. After reaching out to AptDeco the second carrier reached back out to me but could not do a weekend pickup. I finally received a call from a third carrier who I confirmed was able to do weekends. 4) I set up a time with the third carrier and asked AptDeco to communicate the delay to the seller. The item would arrive later than expected given all of the transport delays. 5) On the data of the pick up I receive a call from the third mover telling me that he keeps getting additional routes and the pickup will be delayed. He gives me an estimate of 2:30-3:00pm. He tells me that he cannot pick up the item without confirmation that the seller is available to receive it and we will have to wait for them to confirm via phone. 6) After waiting for nearly 2 hours the movers arrive. They were quite nice, but were clearly being sent all over the place. 7) Several days later the AptDeco portal said that the item hadn't been picked up. It certainly had been. I inquired about delivery time and payment. I was told by customer service that "delivery is expected to happen today" on April 10th. On April 27th I reached out again and was told that "the carrier's estimate for delivery is within the next few days." It is now May, and my item still hasn't been delivered. 8) It has been several weeks and apparently the item is still on the way to the seller. I have not received payment. If items do not go directly to the sellers then why was the whole process put on hold when the customer didn't confirm their availability for the day of? The customer service people have been friendly via email, but there is no way to get in contact with them in real time. This could be really great if they improved the logistics. It would have been easier to just sell my item on Craigslist. read more

However, there's a price to pay for this convenience; fees of up to 60% is a bit over-the-top. AptDeco has a super easy to user interface that makes listing and handling inquiries / sales very straightforward. After the sale was made, the delivery (or removal, in my case) crew was really friendly and they removed the couch without any damage to my property. Easier said than done in a tiny NYC apartment. Following that, payment to me was within 2 days. My only critical feedback was the range estimates they provided when I listed the item were VERY off. I ended up selling the couch for a lot less than their tool quoted me at but still in an acceptable range for me. read more

Really disappointing experience with Apt Deco. I found a used sectional on the site and the process has been glitch-filled ever since. First I couldn't request a delivery time because of a glitch on their site (it wasn't allowing any dates in 2022). It then took a while for the seller to accept the request far beyond the 36 hours they promise. However by far the worst experience has been the missed delivery. I had a confirmed delivery of Jan 3 and of course...nothing was delivered with zero notice or explanation or forewarning. I stayed at home for 4 hours awaiting a delivery that never arrived. Messages to the seller and customer support went unanswered until the next day (and like 12+ hours after the delivery window. If you're going to start a SF Bay Area operation you need customer support in this time zone. This service is supposed to be an upgrade from Craigslist but is possibly even worse. They don't have any seller reputation or review system nor refunds when things go far awry. Would stay away. read more

Shocking amount of uncertainty with aptdeco. A seller and I arranged the purchase with aptdeco confirmed for shipping. On the scheduled delivery date - after I gave away my old couch to make room and just 2-3 days before the seller was moving out -- Apt deco shippers didn't bring the correct COI and was unable to make the delivery. Despite it being their mistake; they said the next available delivery was a week from now , well after the seller would be gone. They have no phone number, didn't allow the seller and me to communicate between each other, and wouldn't make any effort to correct their errors despite the problems caused . Supposedly their shipping was "full" but in that case outsource the delivery to any number of reliable movers. Ive been home for 2 hours waiting for delivery and just got an email stating the item was "damaged during transit". I would have understood if the mirror possibly cracked but THE LEGS WERE COMPLETELY BROKEN OFF from the table (wood shattered). They asked if I would still like the item at a small discount but it was 100% unusable. Our first experience with the site was when my partner purchased a $2000+ West Elm velvet sofa from a seller via AptDeco. It was a perfect transaction, the sofa was in very good condition, and delivery was top notch. Our next experience was as a seller, I sold a West Elm coffee table that wasn't moving on other platforms. Again, it sold within days with more interest. I was disappointed that a $250 sale has a $95 platform sales fee but we were relieved to have the space back in our apartment so quickly. This is the only area I would urge caution when selling lower price items. I WON'T EVER USE AGAIN. I opted for self-pickup. When I arrived my mirror 6' credenza was completely wrapped up in plastic wrap and the separate mirror pieces were wrapped up and taped as well. I was grateful, but as the product was 90% mirror it was hard to see if there were any cracks in it with the plastic wrap. I had brought supplies to wrap the product myself but I hadn't brought a knife to try unwrap it to inspect it and I had also hired a truck and two hands by the hour so unwrapping the product also would have cost me. When I got home and unwrapped, I discovered a mirror panel was completely missing. I asked the warehouse to search for the missing piece and they couldn't find it. After several back-and-forth emails where I had to repeat myself, the result was that it was my job to inspect the item upon pickup so they wouldn't take any responsibility. I was only asking for a $35 discount to cover the cost of getting a new mirror panel cut and treated, not the cost of labor just the supplies. I think a small discount is the least they could do considering I bought an item and it was given to me with missing pieces. If there was a crack, sure it makes sense that they wouldn't want to take the blame because it could have happened in the move and not be their fault.... But this is a missing piece. I respect policy, but common sense needs to be applied in certain circumstances. Also when I bought the item, no instructions for pickup or store hours were sent. I messaged through the app several times and finally had to email. I hate to drag a company that is doing something good for the world, it's a smart business model and they have great products. But I feel taken advantage of. They sold me a faulty product and are not taking any responsibility. read more

A disgustingly ineffective, inept organization who put their underpaid workers (they make $15/hour, $6 less than living wage in NYC--https://livingwage.mit.edu/counties/36061) in dangerous situations, all in the name of profit. We bought an armoire through Apt Deco. We should not have. In short, the team assigned to deliver it was unequipped to deliver it; they had to disassemble and reassemble the piece, and the result was a broken, half-functional armoire. So we requested a full refund. The teams sent to remove the armoire have repeatedly failed to do so. Now we have a half-deconstructed armoire in our hallway, which is a fire hazard. This failure has everything to do with poor communication: between the workers and the management, and between the management and us, the customers. The workers have not been apprised of the task, do not have room in their vans to accommodate the piece, and, in some cases, do not have tools. One worker, flustered to the point of rage, paced outside of our apartment, cursing his employer and wondering out loud why he had every decided to take the job. Apt Deco: you should be ashamed. Treat your workers with respect, don't overburden them in the name of profit and "efficiency," and pay them at least $21.77/hr, which is living wage in New York. Also, stop making empty promises to your customers about when and how pieces will be delivered or removed. read more

BEWARE of selling/buying outside of NYC!! I sold a sofa throut AptDeco. The good news is that it sold very quickly. The bad news is the way this transaction has been handled since the sale. As it turns out the buyer was from outside of the metro area, what they call their "extended service zone". This meant that I would hear back from the "white glove delivery partner" within 2-4 weeks to arrange a pickup. I did NOT read the fine print. The delivery partner seems to be a single guy with a truck, who does not know where he is going from one day to the next. He has been texting me for 3 weeks and keeps changing his pickup day. It is beyond aggravating! The worst part about the whole experience is the inability to talk to customer service at AptDeco. They only communicate via email, and it is a different person every time. They are taking no accountability for the mover's incompetence. On another note I sold a dresser locally and it went very smoothly. read more
