I am so happy that Aqua Rec is carrying Marquis Spas (Made in Oregon) again! My new Euphoria Spa was just delivered, and it is a beauty. It replaced a Marquis Euphoria Spa I bought more than twenty years ago. The folks at Aqua Rec were great to work with, as I needed to remove my old spa to tear out the old deck and build a new one, since I didn't think it had another twenty years of life left in it. The crew of Juan, Andrew, and one other delivery person was joyful, professional, and efficient. However, the company should return to a four-person crew, particularly for the bigger tubs. When three guys struggle with a big tub moving over uneven ground, someone will get hurt or property damaged. read more

I bought a pellet stove insert for my daughters house from Aquarec in Fircrest. Installers came and left. Whole house filled with smoke. They came back and fixed that issue but never installed the thermostat for the stove. There was one there from the old insert but was 20 years old. Finally after multiple calls they came and installed it. A week later the stove quit working. Made multiple calls spoke every time to David the manager. Always promises to talk to someone about it etc. I left 3 messages with no return css as ll. No heat in the house and it is 40 degrees out! Finally reached out to Kelly at the Puyallup location and within two hours he called back and set up a tech to come out. Finally it is working thanks to him. Bought the insert in November and it took multiple calls to get it fixed. Run don't walk away from the Fircrest location, once they have your money they are done with you! We got our Bullfrog hot tub at Aqua Rec. Installation and support have been excellent.

Purchased a fireplace insert at the Puyallup Fair. The initial install was done quickly but with issues. The fan plug exits the right side of the unit while my outlet is on the left. At the fair I asked about it and they said all you needed to do was pull off the front cover swing the power cord over. The "trained" installer swung it around the back of the unit and it wouldn't reach. I had to instruct him to remove the cover and route the power cord internally. They had to measure and order a backing plate and they left after they did this. I went on the roof to look at the craftsmanship and was dismayed to find bits of sheet metal and screws on my new roof. Plus the hand made chimney cap was a piece of junk. I called Rick to tell him about this and he told me they would fix it when they came back. Unfortunately the same 2 guys came back. When I told him that I used to bend sheet metal for a living and their work would not prevent water at a future date from entering, he replied that the sealant they used would last "forever" (no sealant lasts forever) and that I should have made my own chimney cap. Not a customer oriented person at all. After they left I found that they had drilled vertical holes in the chimney liner and put screws in there and cracked the liner. Before they left the "qualified" installer said that if it leaked to call them. Then he gave me a bill for another $329. I told him I paid in full at the fair and I would not pay this additional charge (it was not noted what it was for). We purchased a hot tub less than a year ago. When we purchased it, everything went smoothly - they came and delivered it when they said they would. I was expecting some sort of paperwork at the time of delivery like for warranty and manufactures instruction for use but the delivery guys did not have them. So we basically had to figure out how to set it up ourselves. 10 months passed and we needed a service tech to come to our house to do an electrical work. This is where I have issues with this company. Very very poor communications. To give some examples, we left 3-4 messages over a course of 3 weeks before they even called us back. Once they did, he said he would send a tech but didn't know when. We waited for a call but didn't hear back so we called again and left a couple of messages. We were finally able to put something on the calendar. The tech came and did the work but the pump failed shortly after. We called again to communicate about the new issue (took a couple of calls again) and the tech came back for diagnosis. The tech stated they would have to order a new pump so I asked for an ETA. He said he didn't have one and left. I called the store to ask for an ETA and I was told about 2 weeks to a few weeks. I don't have a problem with waiting, it is what it is. But when I asked how we would know when it arrived so we could schedule an appt, he brushed me off and would not provide a plan. No "we will call you when it comes in" which I think is the standard courtesy at most places. 3 weeks passed and not a word. So I left a couple of messages again. A gentleman called me back on a Friday afternoon and told me that we were on their schedule that same day and that someone was supposed to come to our house between noon and 4pm. Good thing I was off and was home.. we didn't even know and were never informed of this appointment. Was their plan just to go to the backyard without our permission if we weren't home? The guys came, said hi and started working on the tub in the backyard. After a while, I noticed that they were gone. I wasn't sure where they went so I looked to see if their van was in the driveway but it was gone. I guess they finished their work and didn't bother to tell us about it. All of our frustrations could have been resolved with descent, basic communication but this company doesn't seem to have one. Things break and don't always go according to the plan, but the customer service goes a long way if you asked me. It's too bad they don't prioritize it because I'm all for supporting local businesses. read more

A lot of folks have put negative reviews here and I think they are upset because original promises of delivery dates were not met. That's true for me too. However, I think it us extremely unfair to blame it on the small stores that can't control the impact that the pandemic had on the supply chain... in my case, my swim spa was delivered late but throughout the whole experience Chris (in sales) and Rick (operations) have been the most professional and respectful folks I worked with. They kept on having my interests at heart talking to Calspa, they made concessions to make things right and the whole crew to install was awesome. They are owning mistakes that they didn't make just because they represent the product and they are doing that with full smiles while customers are upset without trying to realize the state we are all in due to the pandemic. I will definitely do business again w them, I know that if I wanted to by the same spa now, prices have gone up 20% or more and they never made any fuss about that. I know other places that canceled on their customers instead of eating that up, and I am grateful for the way they conduct themselves at aquarec. To add to that, while they didn't have to, I asked for a wifi module, and Chris and Rick decided to make the gesture and give it to me for free. Their Service Department is the WORST! Scheduled a service call for a hot tub leak. Technician came out, was not to pleased to see that our hot tub had a foam installation. He was here for about 20 minutes, said that finding the leak could take quite some time. Suggested that we let it leak and then call back in to have a follow-up call once it stops leaking, as this would provide a better idea of where to start to look for the leak. He indicated that when they come back out they WON'T charge me the initial fee AGAIN of $249, that they would just charge the half hour rate of $69. Well we let it leak down and called to schedule the follow up. First we were told by Tisha that they don't service our type of hot tub, HMMM they did on the initial visit! Then we were transferred to another person who told us to talk to Caleb who runs the Service department and is one of the owners Called in an left 4 messages for Caleb to call me back, HE NEVER DID. On July 26th I called in and spoke to Tisha, she was one of the rudest customer service representatives I ever have spoken to. At first she was not willing to honor what I had in writing, she asked me to send her a copy of the invoice, which I did. Then she tried to tell me that they provided me with a refund of $75.42, I went through our bank statement while I was on the phone with her and indicated that that was not correct. She then says, oh sorry, my fault that was for another service we provided to you. She then proceeds to tell me that I am rude and that they are not going to honor something like this in the future that they will do it now, but I NEED to understand that this is not the norm. She also indicated that they can come out and spend hours and never find the leak or be able to fix it ! WHAT??? I repeated what she told me so that we were both on the same page. She then proceeded to explain it to me again 3 more times. At this point I am feeling like she is being extremely condescending and treating me like I am stupid. She then proceeds to tell me she is not going to continue this conversation and that she will have Caleb give me call. Here it is the next day and no call from Caleb. I call in at and am put on hold for 35 minutes waiting for him to take the call. A gentleman by the name of what sounded like Buren, gets back on the line and tells me Caleb is busy with a Hot Tub did I want to leave a message or continue to hold. I indicated that I had already been on hold for 35 minutes and that I have been trying to have Caleb give me a call back for the last 4 days to no avail. He snerkaly says well that's why I asked you if you wanted to remain on hold. I said no I would prefer that Caleb give me a call back. This is absolutely ridiculous. These people HAVE ZERO customer service skills.. All they want is your money, they do not follow through with their service and are incompetent. read more

They deliver the hot tub and then you are left on your own to read the owner's manual and figure out how to use the chemicals. After spending so much money on a new hot tub, the company should give the new hot tub owners a tour in person on how to use the tub and how to use the chemicals in order to maintain the water. If you want to be left on your own after spending lots money on a new hot tub then use this company but it will not be me again in the future. read more

Stay far away from Aqua Rec, they will take your money, lie to you and you will be lucky if you ever actually get your product. Rick is the absolute worst. He lies. He does not follow through on his promises and he does not care. I put down $4,000 for 1/2 down on a hot tub on memorial weekend. Was told I was getting a discount to wait instead of ordering one off the floor. They never told me the manufacturer was closed down due to covid when I ordered. Yet they promised me a hot tub by mid August. Every time I call for updates and each time it's a longer wait time. No explanation. So now I'm told the end of November yet I don't believe it as they keep pushing it out a few weeks at a time. This is the absolute worst customer experience I've ever received and this is for an $8,000 purchase. I regret ever walking into this Fircrest store or doing business with them at all. read more

After calling and leaving messages for 2 weeks, i finally decided to stop in the store to schedule. David, the customer service rep was nice at first. But didn't help me AT ALL. Basically told me to call a different store to schedule even after I confirmed to pay the ridiculous $150 fee just for a dude to come look at it. i have yet to receive a call from BOTH stores to schedule. Kyle is amazing! I came in to purchase a Blaze King fireplace. I had no idea what I was doing or looking for. He took the time to show me how to start a fire, etc. After the installation, which the guys were great! I forgot how to start the fire and Kyle made a video on "how to". I was thrilled! He is the definition of what customer service should be! I had gone into 2 other different stores and they couldn't be bothered with me. I don't know why all the neg reviews. I bought a spa off the floor, Scheduled delivery, and they installed it and got me all set up. No lies. Seriously, anyone should do research if buying a spa now. Everyone has issues with supply chain, and none of the dealers I visited had predictable delivery due to that. I would assume bad information before lies. Aqua Rec refuses to follow manufacture's guidelines when installing gas fireplace inserts; when my fireplace was being serviced the tech asked who installed my fireplace - I asked why snd he said it's missing one of the two vents. When I confronted Aqua Rec I was told they always install this way. When I spoke with the manufacturer I was told that both vents are mandatory for proper installation. Now I will be hiring a reputable company to correct Aqua Rec's improper installation. Avoid this company! read more

Bought my gas insert from them years ago & quickly realized their incompetence & lack of communication. After installation, the tech didn't offer to remove the black screen & the top brick baffle was cracked so they scheduled to come back. Night before appt they call to say they lost paperwork & don't know why they're coming out so I ask if that means they didn't order the new baffle kit. They assure me it's there but when they arrive, it's the wrong kit. Fast forward to 2017 & one of the ceramic logs is cracked so I call & they say it's under warranty so they'll order a new kit. They warn me shipping ($25) & labor is not covered so I tell them I can replace the logs myself & I approve the $25 shipping. They say they'll call me when it's in & to bring the old logs in when I pick them up. 2 months go by & no call so I check in & they say it hasn't been ordered because they're waiting for payment for shipping. I told Caleb NOBODY TOLD ME I HAD TO PAY AHEAD OF TIME & he said "I'm telling you now." It's now getting cooler & much time has been wasted so I'm not happy! When they place the order, the manufacturer says "it's a good thing you called because there's a 25 day lead time for this log kit." I told Caleb to cancel the order at this point. I have no confidence in AquaRec & will never give them any business again. read more

Do not do business with these guys, we were falsely lulled into working with them because of one good experience! We talked to AquaRec since they were local, they came out and found that one seal was bad and it needed a control box. There was signs of an old rats next that was an issue before we bought the house. All in all they said it looked good for the age and we had them repaired it, about $2,500. We tested it and it was working fine with a minor leak but nothing to worry about, we would have to add water to it about every 2-3 weeks. So we pursued getting the cabana replaced(ours collapsed in the snow this year, yes we stated this back then). We first attempted to talk with the local store but were blown off by the sales guy who didn't give us much attention in the first place, then never followed up with the quotes we ask for. We need to pick up something else as and the cashier, was equally inattentive and helpful. I don't mind paying a down payment but they required we pay 1/2 up front for the repair and the cabana install. They had scoped the project when they did the first validation and repair bid, but for some reason felt that they need to review it again and delayed ordering unit per their "inspection". This was already on a cement slab. Power for the Hot tub was on my external wall but no other power. The unit we were purchasing required power or solar. This never came up, and they were surprised that there was no power at the site when they installed it. So they cut up a used Extension Cord and had me plug it into an extension cord. (there is no way this would ever pass an inspection. Plus they never measured the height of the unit which caused a secondary issue and in all created the issue that is the most damming here. The new powered cover could not go low enough to close properly so they would need to raise the hot tub. This was just before the memorial day weekend so the one weekend we would have love to use the hot tub we could not, since it was half installed. I reminded them at that time that it was an older unit an I was concerned that if they had to move it, it would compromise the hot tub. They said no problem we do that all the time. Well, they did it, lifted it, well now it leaks like a sieve! We have to over fill it the day before we want to use it! And the extension cord they cut up to provide to us as a plug in did not work, so they had to come back out again to fix the cord and look at the new leaks. I guess that person told either my step son or Aqua Rec that it was going to be too expensive to repair and it should be replaced. I did not know about that comment until Monday 6/17 when I go a call from another person from AquqRec that came out to evaluate the damage they did. He said that most of the glue seals had popped and it would take 1 -2 people a full day to repair the hot tub. At this point they pondered this for a week before calling me to tell me that this is my issue and wanted to schedule time for them to come out and do the repair at my cost. In addition to all of this they also required a CC on file, which they used without my authority and without sending me a bill, I am sure there is something that could be done about that but I am too frustrated to pursue this. I was greeted by their sales guy Clint and instead of a high pressure sale we had a conversation about what I wanted the most out of my possible purchase. Clint took his time and showed me different options and taught me so much. I am excited for my new Bullfrog Spa to arrive! My Archgard Optima 22 gas fireplace would not stay lit. I called Aqua Rec's Fireside and immediately got an in home appointment with 48 hrs. Service Tech Mr. Dave Anderson (AKA Montana) showed up disassemble the fireplace and immediately diagnosed the problem which was a bad Thermocouple. Replacement of the Thermocouple was completed in 20 minutes, replace batteries in remote and cleaned out corrosion from receiver, cleaned glass, tested Thermocouple and reassemble fireplace. Montana provided excellent customer service while being very courteous, professional and knowledge. His attention to details was superb while providing advice to prevent future problems. Price was a bit high but you pay for what get, so to speak. I will definitely call these guys again and referred them to my friends and family. Thanks Montana. read more

HORRIBLE experience with their Tacoma store and their service guy there, Rick. I needed a gas fireplace replaced as I was listing my home for sale and it took 3 months to get the job completed after I paid my initial 50% down, and this was with the fireplace in stock! They kept cancelling on me and there were all kinds of problems and excuses about why the problems were happening (the guys were sick, they couldn't get ahold of me, blah blah blah). I'd sit at home waiting for them and they would just not show up, no phone call no nothing. The job was partially finished and my fireplace torn apart and was left that way for over a month while I was trying to show my house to potential buyers. The job was finally completed the very DAY before I moved out, completely stressing me out that it was even going to get done before I had to leave the next day for my move to the East Coast. I never received a bill for the balance due, and months later Rick started calling me and left a threatening message that he would "send me to collections and put a lien on my house" if I didn't call him back. How this company stays in business is beyond me. I tried to contact the general manager about this whole mess but he never called me back or responded at all to my email. They obviously could care less. Stay clear of this company if you value your sanity. Zero stars. read more

My husband told me how wonderful the service was on our gas stove. Very quick service, even after a storm. Personable qualified repair person named Ryan Scott. Thank you Ryan. I have delayed service due to concerns about the price. I feel that we received a very good value, hundreds less than I thought. I am also glad to know that yearly maintenance is so inexpensive ($138). I won't have to worry anymore about using my gas stove or having the costs for repairs. We were having trouble with both gas fireplaces(neither would light), so called Aqua Rec. Dave showed up on time and was very courteous and efficient. He identified the problem quickly and within a half hour both units were working again. He also cleaned our glass and vacuumed up all dust. Great service and very friendly, professional technician. Worse customer service we've experienced. The sales experience was great with Andy, but the follow-up for installation of our fireplace insert by Rick was terrible. Every contact with Rick regarding install was initiated by us. At install, the custom surround did not fit properly, but the installer left it without saying anything. I calld Rick and told him, and he said he would go out and look at it. Ten days later, no Rick, so I called and ask him what's happening with our insert....apparently he forgot about us. I finally lost my cool with him after many phone calls with no follow-up, and a job that still needs to be corrected. read more

I purchased a gas fireplace with Aqua Rec, after a few years I had a problem so I called them, and set-up a repair appointment. The guy who came was new and didn't know what the problem was (the fireplace would not start). He was going to meet with another guy and get back to me. Nothing happen. I called a year later and tried to set-up another appointment. I was treated rude and they were unwilling to set-up an appointment for after 3. They said they could set-up an appointment for the morning in the end of November (a month away). I am a teacher and I am not able to take a full day off to wait for them to come. Since I purchased a hot tub and 2 fireplaces from them you would think they would be able to make this happen. Stay away from this business! They will sell you, and then not be willing to service the equipment. On top of that ....they are rude and offer no customer service! The worst customer service ever. Communication was terrible. The product is good and the sales experience was positive but after that, everything went downhill. It took nearly 3 months (after a promise of 3 weeks) for the unit to be installed, and then another couple of weeks to fix other issues so that we could use the unit with no more problems. It took over 30 verifiable phone calls, mostly initiated by me, to get them to show up and then to get all issues resolved. There ended up being probably 8 times that we needed to schedule someone to come out to finish the job. We never knew when they might get here. The installers did fairly well but usually showed up not completely knowing what they were supposed to do. The first install date no one showed up. The second install date they were 6 hours late. Very disappointing installation team. Rick does not return phone calls, and I have called several times because having my $4200 gas fireplace insert has taken FIVE visits to install (not done yet in case you're wondering)!!! Apparently passing city inspection is seen as optional by these guys, but my children being safe is actually important to me. Also, make sure you ask for the "A team" as Rick literally put it when them guy he sent out couldn't figure out how to do his job for a 4 hr period (45 min spent sitting in his truck without my knowing why). So finally passed inspection yesterday, guy was supposed to come last night....make that this morning...finally showed up 27 min late for a "15 min job"...20 min later he's in the garage asking for the owners manual because he can't get it to turn on and hasn't started this "15 min job" yet. So now I'm breastfeeding with a random guy in my house because my baby was timed perfectly to eat after the guy should have already left, and my daughter is late for school. I don't usually write reviews but thought I should this time. Please don't buy anything from this company unless you sit at home all day waiting for someone to talk to. read more
