So don't do reviews often but I had to for this establishment recently. I bought an American Whirlpool spa from them around 8 years ago. I had trouble with the cover blowing off and getting damaged and they provided a low cost solution. Then when the cover needed replacement they hooked me up with a customer who just bought a spa and did not need the cover. They got zero out of that but did it anyways. Recently I had a pump motor that was very noisy. They came out and fixed it at a very reasonable and fair price which is not so common these days. Called them back in June 2022 to have them come out to measure our pool to order & install new in pool liner (in ground). They came out August 16th as scheduled and measured everything up and said they would get back with us. I waited 2 weeks and then called to see if they by chance forgot? The gal on phone said the person I needed to talk to was out on an appointment but would let him know to call me back regarding the liner and install. Today is Oct 6th 2022 and we have called 5 more times and have been told oh we're sorry for the delay everyone has been busy blah, blah, blah... Still not a returned phone call. My 15 year old hot tub just stopped working one day after running like a champ throughout its life. I couldn't get anyone local who was willing to work on a tub that wasn't their brand. I continued to call spa businesses farther and farther away, until I found Aqua Spas, about 40 miles away. They were willing to send someone to diagnose and possibly repair the spa. The repairman came out, fixed part of the problem, and ordered the new heater for what he believed was the major problem. As he left, he said they would call as soon as the part came in. They sure did! They got the part and he was out that Monday morning, quickly replaced the part and got my spa back up and running. The repairman was really friendly and super efficient. Definitely was "Pretty Woman-ed." Came in to ask about a chlorination system for my large above ground pool, specifically salt system as it's what we prefer. They seem to favor traditional chlorinated systems because the saleswoman couldn't give me any details on salt water systems, she said the last time someone asked about a salt system she passed it off to her coworker...? When I asked what all do I need for a chlorination system I'm looking to use, she replied, "salt haha." Unprofessional and rude. Her superior came out to assist but they said they do not provide services for above ground pools. Both giggled as I left with my toddler in arms. No referral as to where to go, no help at all. Maybe a Tacoma pool store will be kinder than Gig Harbor. read more

I usually give businesses three strikes before I write them off completely. Strike one was when I needed a new pool heater installed and Aqua's quote for the unit and installation was $1000 higher than the outfit I ended up having do the work. Strike two was when I needed a small fitting and was told it was a special order and would take two weeks to get. I was able to order the piece from Amazon for half the quoted price and get it delivered to my house the next day. I don't know what strike three will be, but with several competitors in the area, Aqua will be at the bottom of my list. Two stars because the people that work there seem friendly enough. read more

But since going in, for a new hot tub cover (which also happened to be an excellent deal and of the highest quality that I have found in a cover), I only go to this store for all of my hot tub needs. We bought a house on Hood Canal and there was a Hot tub, but it didn't work right so I attempted to fix it myself. After too much money spent trying to replace stuff I knew wasn't right, it still didn't work. Called Aqua Spas and Jim came out to take a look. After a short period of time, it's all working! ...an update on my initial 5 star review. I came back to my hot tube today to add some chemicals and found the blower pump would trip my GFI. After making a call to Aqua Spas I was told by Jim that it was working fine when he left and no GFI trips occurred. He told me that blowers sometimes just quit and it is quite old. He instructed me to note the voltage and other data on the blower and they could order me a new on ~$150 -$200. Well, after taking a look at the blower it noted that it was a 120v blower, fine accept that I had remembered I wired it for 220v in my controller,which could explain the GFI trips. I opened the controller and changed it back to 110/120v and everything is now fine and working. Now, when I called originally I mentioned that I had an issue with the blower tripping my GFI, and re-iterated that when Jim arrived. I was on the phone when Jim buttoned everything up and told me it was A-OK. This was the first time starting the blower up since the service and it did the exact same thing it did before the service, tripping the GFI. Now, this is not to say that Aqua Spas and Jim are not worthy of my business or yours. It's just that he told me that everything was fine and I have a hard time believing that my 120v blower was ever running for any period of time with 220v current without tripping my GFI. Jim did fix my start up capacitor in the pump and the spa does work now and is usable, which it wasn't before his service, so that is good. I recommend not being on the phone and checking the work thoroughly before the tech leaves. Their rates are reasonable and they are very professional on site and on the phone, just check the work! Reduced to 3 stars and still recommended. read more

In preparation to sell our house we had our spa checked out by Aqua Spas. We had not used it for years. Steve came out and found it needed two replaced pumps. We had that done and only turned it on when having a showing. Seven months later I noticed the spa was not turning on and kept tripping the breaker. Steve came back and found one of the motors had gone out (bad bearing). I was expecting the motor was beyond warranty but Steve called me to say we were under warranty and he replaced the pump the next day. I find Aqua Spas to be friendly and reliable and truly feel they keep customer service as a top priority. read more

BEWARE!!!Initial experience was great although I was sold several items for start up I didn't need at all. Test strips are cheaper at Ace hardware and you won't have a salesperson on your like you're at a car dealership. Returned and aromatherapy treatment which triggered and asthma like attack. I pointed out to the unfriendly man that I researched the ingredients and the first one is propylene glycol. Look it up. It's antifreeze...yes the same key ingredient in antifreeze, de-icer, fog or smoke machines etc. is in this pricey aromatherapy crap. I explained this is POISONOUS and if it were my establishment that product would be pulled from shelves immediately. This guy was a total ignorant rude jerk. According to this health unconscious lummox this is one of their top sellers and he has no intention of pulling it. I replied to that it should come with a warning label. He towered over me seemed like he was trying to intimidate me. Sorry you don't scare this little lady buster. No longer will be wasting my money on their over priced junk. Amazon prime has EVERYTHING cheaper. BEWARE!!!! Read labels and NEVER pour POISON into your spa. Natural safe alternatives are readily available and reasonably priced. read more

Getting an appointment was easy of course, but I had to wait 2 weeks because they were busy, and I decided to go with an extra $84.00 mileage charge because of their reputation. The spa technician was very nice and seemed like he knew what he was doing. The Arctic Spa (my spa) seemed like it was working just fine when the tech left. However, he did not wait for the tub to reach "sitting in" temperature. Once the tub reached 100 degrees, the heater turned off and I kept getting an HL error. I wrote to Aqua Spas via email several times regarding this error. I got no reply at all. After finally fixing the problem myself and waiting for more than a month I received a call asking about my problem. The call was more giving me some excuse about "so, and so thought I called, and I thought he called". I didn't care then, it was fixed. Also, I could not get them to give me an invoice even after several attempts of contacting them, they completely blew me off. Today, one and a half months later I finally received an invoice. I am not happy about their customer service. I find them rude and uncaring. The original problem of a blown wire to the heat pump was fixed, but the tub was not checked completely and thus I still had issues which they did not even attempt to address. I suggest finding a different company, one that is honest and reliable. read more

I went into the store after years of not going there and I find that the arrogance of the owner has not changed much and that they still have the mind set that the owner is first and the customer comes last. Went in to have a quick water test done so I could pick up some chemicals and they couldn't find me in their "system." Now why would I have to be in their system in order for a quick water check to tell me what chemicals I would be deficient in. When I told the girl to just give me my jar of water back and started to walk out the door, the owner gave me some "BS" that it was imperative they have that information in order to make sure they had the right balance...Anyway, he lost out on my sale and future sales just because he wanted to force an address out of me. Prices are high anyway and I ended up going to Ole's in Port Orchard. They took my water, did the test and I walked out seven minutes later without having to disclose private information and my life history. Save your money, gas, (the location is really out of the way), and order online or at another store. We don't need another little store owner dictating their needs over the customers. read more
