This was our last night in OBX and half of our group already left for home. That left my mom, my daughter, my son, and me to celebrate a fabulous vacation and my son's high school graduation and my daughter's college graduation. We were disappointed 5 years ago when we came to another restaurant in OBX. This time we chose very well and were very very happy with our meals. Service, food, and view were excellent. Our server was CJ and did a great job! My mom and my daughter both got a cucumber infused Tito fresco drink. We ordered bangin shrimp and baba ganoush appetizers. My mom and I got a spring mix salad, hers topped with a crab cake. My daughter got a cup of corn and crab soup which she said was very very good. We also had fresh bread at the table, and after hearing I am vegan he brought olive oil for the bread in addition to butter! I appreciated this detail so much even though I would have inhaled that delicious bread without the olive oil too hahaha. By this time we had not even had our meals and we were extremely pleased with everything we had chosen. When the entrees came we were even more satisfied. I got a seared tofu medallions dish. Usually vegan options at restaurants can be pretty bland and underwhelming. This was excellent and not at all bland. My daughter got the crab cakes entree. My son got seafood pasta with a crab cake on the side. My mom got the scallops meal. Everything was great! I'm only disappointed we didn't get dessert. All the desserts looked great but my kids wanted to walk along the boardwalk for ice cream. They had a homemade raspberry sorbet which was vegan friendly and I would have liked that. We've made plans to return to OBX in a few years and this will definitely be a stop! read more

They were accommodating to our group of 11, and CJ our waiter was great, much kudos to CJ. The food gets highs marks for flavor and appearance. The soups were exceptional, on par with a very high end restaurant highly recommend them. The drinks were a little more hit or miss, depending on which bartender you got. This is my first trip to OBX and I have reservations for every night. Aqua came highly recommended. We had a 7:30 reservation and our window table, overlooking the bay, was ready at 7:20 out waiter, Bryan, was wonderful. Knowledgeable and quite personable. The descriptions of the lunch menu items sounded scrumptious, and we each ordered something different. All three of us were disappointed. Our waitress was great--cheerful and efficient! We ate on the deck, which was pleasant, as it looked over the water. It became crowded inside and out by the time we left, so we think it must be a locals' burger place. I had a beautiful evening at Aqua with my family during the off season in the Outer Banks. We were happy to see the outdoor seating that allowed for plenty of distance between other patrons. There were also heat lamps to keep us warm after the sun set beautifully over the Bay. As a vegan I was curious how good there options would be - but I was pleasantly surprised. Their butternut squash soup was rich and creamy (made with coconut milk). Their vegetable platter was absolutely gorgeous and tasted amazing! My family loved all of their dishes - the Salmon, Duck, and Crab Cakes. All was topped off with delicious drinks. I was able to get the El Captain made spicy - just how about I like my margaritas. Amazing experience! Beautiful views, delicious food, great service (thanks Kat)! I have gluten and dairy allergies and this was one of the safest allergy experiences I have ever had. We mentioned that we had allergies when we first sat down, and the whole night our waitress was so proactive about clarifying what was gluten free. They have a separate area of their kitchen that is completely allergy free. I ordered a steak with their allergy safe side and our waitress took down my allergies "because chef likes to know". My boyfriend and I were trying to find a really nice restaurant that wasn't too commercialized in our area and we definitely found it. I was a little wary of the restaurants here since we are in a very tourist town. We are so glad we chose Aqua. From the butter that came with the bread to our riesling wine, our entrées and our amazing waitress Valerie everything was perfect! Not to mention the view we had, we asked the host if we could sit outside and have a water view and they did that for us in 25 mins when we were quoted 30 to 40. The service was great, the bar area and outdoor areas are great. I've been coming to Duck for years and we were so excited when it opened. But I'm not sure what happen. The main eating area is outdated and needs some TLC. And my meal was not good at all. Delicious food, great service, beautiful views. Went here with wife and preschooler on our recent vacation to Duck. We sat on the deck that was right on the water (sound-side) and next to the "boardwalk" that connects the various shops. Our server (can't remember his exact name but it was two initials, CB perhaps) was friendly and professional. We have dietary descriptions, and he let us know that we could modify some of the dishes to remove the pancetta. Complete underrated. Let me begin by apologize for lack of pics. My wife had the filet mignon. She always orders it rare. Cooked to perfection. Flavor was amazing. Aqua Restaurant gets five stars for the service, friendliness of the staff and most importantly, the tastiness of all the different styles of food they have on the menu.. especially the Pineapple Fried Rice and the Basil Pesto Panini.. to include the Truffle Fries... The Yum Yum sauce of the Pineapple Fried Rice has the correct name for it, because it was Yum Yum... My only complaint is that the bowl it was served in was not large enough and deep enough to put more of the serving in.. (joking).. This was our first night in Duck and the food was just meh. Nothing great, nothing horrible. Music wasn't loud enough to be heard which was kind of a bummer. The sunset made it worth it. If not for that, I would call it overpriced and advise them to be more family friendly. Just because you have money doesn't mean you have to be boring and pretentious. Food was good! Admittedly I didn't have a reservation but they were able to get me in and told me upfront they needed the table by 715. I was appreciative that they accommodated me and my three year old. Bread was delicious. I ordered the tile fish and it was good! A bit earthy with the wild rice but all in all good. She ordered the kids buttered noodles which I was a bit apprehensive for $13 but they were an awesome noodle perfectly cooked and she gobbled it up (considering she only eats marinara on pasta!). Love that this has spectacular views of the sound. You can eat inside or out and you still get to see the water. They even have chairs with a fire pit to sit at and watch the water or sunset. Inside it's very clean and modern with plenty of beach/sunset views. The lunch menu is limited but the food is amazing. We ordered truffle parm fries as an app and I got the banging shrimp tacos. There were only two but I was stuffed. My friend loved her burger & no one had a complaint. Gina was our server and she was on top of drinks and anything we needed. We tried this place for our last dinner in OBX. We arrived shortly before sunset and the there were no inside tables available. At the hostess suggestion, we took a seat at bar. The bartender Lucy was very friendly and served up drinks quickly along with menus. We shared the Bangin Shrimp appetizer which was amazing. For dinner I had the 6 Oz Filet Mignon which was cooked to perfection served with fingerling potatoes and vegetables. My husband had the Pistachio crusted Salmon with balsamic glazed quinoa and peas, also an excellent choice. The salmon was flakey yet succulent. The facility was very clean, including the bathroom. The wait staff were all friendly and helpful. You could watch the sunset from the bar which worked out great because it got really buggy outside after dark. Overall I would give them high marks for menu selection, presentation, service and cleanliness.
