Aqua Zone was great! I was able to experience the Rusty Divers class a couple hours before I dove and am so glad I did. Both dives were at my comfort level (30 - 40 feet) and Lindsay and Bree were very helpful and great instructors. Bree took great photos of both dives and led us around the Turtle Canyon and Nautilus sites safely under the water. The boat ride was comfortable and convenient with Captain Greg, too. Friendly staff, but not very knowledgable. "Dude!" was the answer to most questions. They said there was no wreck near the YO257 ( the Sea Tiger is right next to it) and that the reef site off Waikiki was Turtle Canyon (Turtle Canyon is between Diamond Head and Haunama Bay) That said, there were 2 Turtles there. Bought their Travel Zoo Snorkel rental package and boy do you get what you pay for. Buyer beware. Horrible customer service. Shop attendant went out to lunch and came back 40 minutes after the "will return" time posted. Gear in poor condition and some of the items included were not available at time of rental. The scuba tour was excellent. Saw some incredible fish, coral, sharks and sea turtles. Our dive instructor Christina was very informative and super. She was very detailed as we did an introductory dive to make sure all would go well and first practiced in the pool. She took some great photos as well. We did 2 dives and saw so much. I recommend aquazone as they are very professional. You can also snorkel off the boat too. This is one adventure you don't want to miss. read more

Staff was busy vaping and on their phone...did the snorkeling tour and asked for life jackets and were given boards with wrist cords....ended up wrapped around my sons neck. Poorly ran and staff just portrayed lack of interest. Would not recommend. read more

This is the place to learn to dive and also great for experienced divers. Christina, my instructor was good fun and makes the process of learning a pleasure. Brie was along on a number of the dives and was tremendous. I completed my dive training in under a week and made my first dive as a qualified diver. I saw lots of turtles, sharks, sea urchins, octopuses and many fish. It is clear water of Waikiki. I look forward to another visit soon. I've been meaning to write a review for Aqua Zone for awhile. A few weeks ago, my boyfriend, him mom, and myself became scuba certified through Aqua Zone. Overall we had a fantastic experience and I would recommend to anyone. Most notably are the individuals who work there. We had a misunderstanding at one point in the process and Jenn, the manager, was extremely accommodating and willing to work things out with us. We are so thankful; the world needs more managers like her who put the customer first and isn't just interested in profit. Next, the crew/instructors were great. Christina, our instructor was incredibly patient and fun to be around. She will also ensure that you walk out of there knowing everything you need to know! We didn't spend much time with Lindsey or the other instructors (Devin, Jason?) but they were helpful and enthusiastic from the small interactions we had with them. Everyone we spoke to on the phone (notably Alexis) was really helpful and kind. Ben was very patient and kind as well. Lastly, we loved Randy! What an awesome captain! I was in Honolulu on business. A friend of mine had told me about Bree and had a wonderful experience diving. I had many apprehensions although I was advanced open water I had not dove in over 10 years. Bree explained to me the trip and cost and being from Rhode Island where the water is murky at best I decided to go for the dive. IT WAS THE EXPERIENCE OF A LIFE TIME! Sea turtles, wreck dive and marine life was spectacular. The water temperature was perfect. After not having dove in many years my air consumption was less than ideal but Bree did a spectacular job of keeping us all together and very calm. AquaZone is great! I am a certified diver but had not been on a dive in many years. Therefore I took the "first time divers" course. The instructor, Christina, gave the best course I've ever attended. The dive was excellent...with Christina ensuring the safety of everyone in the group and taking excellent pictures so we'd maintain memories. I was fortunate to be able to return to Hawaii 2 months later. I went right to AquaZone to sign up for another dive. This time there was a different dive master, but the dive was excellent again. Aqua Zone provided us with snorkel rentals during our visit to Oahu. Be prepared to await service here as the staff is small, easily distracted and typical of the laid-back lifestyle. The equipment they provided was good. They did accommodate us by extending our rental via phone, which was superb. This is the worst dive charter I've ever been on. The wreck was nothing special. Christina tells us to follow her because she knows where everything is. All we did was go down, go around the boat and back up. Only 4 people on the boat that morning and we were all experienced divers. We could have at least penetrated the wreck, but out of respect for Christina no one did it. The second dive there was nothing to see except a bunch of rocks. The highlight of the second dive was a little octopus that Christina caught and nothing more. Additionally, I've never, ever been on a dive boat that doesn't offer drinks or snacks and I've been diving over 20yrs. I think their website should mention that they offer nothing more than water so one can come prepared. Then to add insult to injury after the first dive Christina breaks out a yogurt and a drink and just sits there eating and drinking in front of everyone while the rest of us get water. A pineapple is not that expensive and something you could offer your guest at minimum. This dive charter was actually my last choice to dive. Everyone I called to book a dive for that Saturday morning was booked. 99% of the other websites mentioned the offering of snacks, drinks and free pictures. After we're done diving Christina offers the pictures at a whopping $37 dollars plus tax. Like are you kidding me? Call it Hawaii, but there was nothing special about those dives. Especially for me since I've been around the world. I guess the assumption is that if you're in Hawaii the dive must be special, it's not. Then the captain had the social skills of a snail. There was no question(s) he could answer or simply didn't want to answer. He just seemed pissed that he had to deal with his costumers at crack of dawn. Bottom line is I really have nothing good to say about this company except that Christina is a nice girl. If I were her I'd look for another dive charter to work on. read more

Our family had an awesome time scuba diving with Aqua Zone! My wife and I had dove before twice, but we are not certified. This time we took two our children, ages 12 and 15. All of us completed the pool training first. We had such a great time. The instructors and the team on the boat were all top notch, friendly, funny, focused on safety. I am a certified diver who had not been diving for a while. After reading the reviews on yelp I decided to book a dive with Aqua Zone. The whole experience was great!!!!! In the morning I was able to get in the pool with and instructor, I think her name was Cynthia.She brought us up to speed with a review on equipment and other skills we needed to be safe in the water.She was very thorough and a great instructor!!!! About an hour later we went out to a boat dive.That was great experience!!! I went on a two tank dive.Sophie was our guide and instructor on the boat.. Worth every penny. This was our first time diving and we loved it. Our trainer, Christina could be a bit abrasive at times but she knows her stuff and loves to see you succeed. It may be scary at first but don't get flustered because it's so much fun once you're out on the boat! We brought our underwater camera but realized very early on that we would not be able to handle focusing on the dive and taking pictures simultaneously. Luckily, Christina took our pictures and emailed them to us later. The great part is that you can split the price with the rest of your party and all the pictures can be downloaded and shared. If you want a certain picture taken, do not hesitate to ask, as many of our pictures were lacking fish although we saw a ton in the water We were fortunate enough to sea a ton of fish and even sea turtles! By the time we did our second dive we felt extremely comfortable. An absolute highlight of the trip- a must-do activity. read more

I booked a sea turtle snorkel with this company. I walked to the marina [about 2 miles from where I was staying] and waited and waited for the boat to show up. Finally a person from another boat called Aqua Zone and was told that the trip had been cancelled. They hadn't told me it was cancelled, so I walked the 2 miles back to my hotel. It was supposed to leave at 11am, so I wasted half a day of my short vacation. read more

A bit more cheap n cheerful than some of the other snorkel tours, which worked for me, as I didn't really want to spend $100+ to go snorkeling. Staff were all very nice, snorkeling spot was quite pleasant. It was a turtle-cleaning station just off Waikiki beach. There's a few fish species and some coral there, but you're really there for the turtles. If you're a diver, be aware that you may be taking a boat out with snorkelers. If you're a first time snorkeler, they have inflatable vests and boogie boards for you to hang on to, so no worries, you won't sink. read more

My son and I enjoyed two dives with aqua zone. I am NAUI certified but had not gone diving in awhile and didn't want to pass up a chance to dive with my Son who was stationed in Hawaii while we were visiting. Christina was a ton of fun, and, Very Safety conscious, very detailed in her equipment checks, her explanations and watching over us; as a safety manager at a chemical plant, this was important to me, I felt completely comfortable. And, her pictures she took were fabulous! The boat looks a little rough, but, that's a sign of lots of dives, don't let that distract the fun you're going to have. We should have done our homework, found lots of bad reviews, please add ours. Crew was rude, actually told a 7 year old on our trip something was none of his beeswax. Really?? He had asked what the other diver was doing while she tied up on the dive line at the snorkel site. We left late and returned a full 40 minutes before we were supposed to. Lindsay was good at spotting turtles and pointing them out but we were very disappointed and would not recommend or return to AquaZone. read more

I contacted Aqua Zone to schedule a snorkeling tour for myself and my husband. I spoke with Samantha who was nice but did not seem confident or knowledgeable as to the available tours. She stated that the website info was incorrect but that we could come to the shop at 10am to join the tour for that day. We arrived at exactly 10am but there was no parking at the shop (we were told there were meters on the street, but they were only for 2 hours and the tour was 4) so then we were told parking was better at the dock and to drive there (good thing we did as the van had already left the shop). We arrived at the dock and finally found the boat. The guy in charge was not very friendly or helpful and acted as if we were bothering him. Another employee, female, helped answer my questions and also informed me there were no other snorkelers on the trip, but strictly scuba divers and that the locations they were going to were not snorkeler friendly. It was a wild goose chase morning and we would not recommend this company. read more

So I went scuba for the first time with this place, Christina was the instructor she was great and very thorough. The experience was really amazing but I have some constructive criticism: our group was too big, there were 8 or 9 people in my group and it was a bit crammed and hectic. The boat felt crammed to me and I really do love the way Christina taught the course and conducted Herself she was so professional and great but if you are going to take that many people on a dive you need to make sure people are using common sense like don't step on the persons head below you when you get out of the water or wait patiently for the person above you to continue pulling rope out of water bf rudely taking rope for oneself. I had a great time I just wish a rule in such a big group would have been mandatory. I also felt like I had no personal space in the water! And was continually being pushed in front of the instructor when we were down there and she would tell me to get behind her but that was hard to do when I kept getting trampled on by other people so personal space and respect others should be a rule they enforce in the water as well as limit the people per group bc mine was way too large and it hindered my experience. read more

I have dove off of Aqua Zones boat many times and love this boat and the crew!!! Its a very big catamaran with lots of room and great snacks!! Randy is the captain and he is great!! Always very helpful in helping people get in and out of the water making sure that they are getting into the water safely and getting back to their seat with out having any problems. He is alway willing to show you dolphins if there around and whales when there in season unlike some other captains they just want to get you to the next site so they can get done with the charter. He also has a "pet fish" that loves the boat whenever we pull up to one of the dive sites he has named it Jack lol very cool next time you book with Aqua Zone ask him to show you Jack!!! The instructors Christina and Lindsey are some of the nicest girls in the business!!! They give a great briefing and always showing customers the coolest things under the water if your looking to have a great time diving with a fun crew this is the company for you!!! At the time of this review, I'm a novice diver. I had completed my PADI open water certification late June of 2014 and decided on a trip out to Hawaii to try a few dives with this company due to the positive reviews on yelp and other websites. I went for a 3-tank labor day special on a whim, not really thinking that I might want to try something a little more "rookie" since I am such a newbie. I had some personal apprehension and anxiety due to my skill level before the dive, but that all disappeared quickly after getting in the water with Christina and Chris for the first dive. Their attention and emphasis on safety immediately assuaged my fears not long after performing the long stride into the water - they were attentive and concerned only with the safety (constant air checks and monitoring of the entire dive group) and enjoyment of all the divers on board. Since I am a newbie I depleted my air quicker than the rest of the group (first dive was to about 85 feet to the not-so-accurately named 100-foot hole and second to the YO 257 wreck at about 75) so I had to ascend before the rest, but they had someone separate and go up with me and made sure I did everything right. If you are like me and you're relatively new and wondering if this is the right crew to "take the plunge" with, rest assured you are in very capable hands. read more

This review is only for snorkel rentals and service. Pick-up was smooth- girl manning the desk was very friendly and helpful. However, when we went to use the gear, one of the two snorkels was clearly leaking (water would slowly seep into the snorkel, causing the user to have to blow the water out every 10 seconds or so). This did not feel comfortable for me so I switched snorkels with my boyfriend who was ok with doing this. Upon returning the gear, I pointed this out to the girl working the counter so she could properly set this snorkel aside. Instead of apologizing, she responded by saying "that happens to me when I snorkel" and throws the snorkel and mask into the cleaning bucket. I then kindly pointed out that this problem clearly occurred with only one of the snorkels and was not due to user error (I've snorkeled 25+ times without a problem). She again did not apologize and just handed me my receipt. Recommendation: if you do rent gear from here- avoid any bright yellow snorkels... read more
