My Labor Day weekend happened to be mostly diving related. Went on a dive tour with Joe at Electric beach, I have to say I couldn't have so much fun without him. The current was strong that day, and Joe dragged me and carried me through the waves in and out, both times. I am super thankful. The second day I went to rent some gears to dive in Shark's cove and three tables, the owner (I think?) took care of my walk- in request patiently, gave me the last two tanks he got, and took care of all the gears for me. He was also super patient about explaining what I should expect, what to do, what to see, and gave me a lot of comfort and confidence to go alone. He was also patient with me when I ran into some issues and was available to FaceTime assist right away. My only advice for anybody doing rental gear is that the traffic to and from their shop to sharks cove is bad from 10 am till dark. It's the weekend traffic in north shore you should expect. So you really need to plan out the timing. I didn't have too much issue and worked around it. Also, at the end of the day, the workers & owner at this shop are super nice people to interact with and that makes a huge difference when it comes to picking a dive shop. Our family group of 6 did our PADI Open Water Diver classes while on vacation on Oahu this week. Julian, Ethan, & Adam were super helpful and made learning/practicing the skills fun. Well organized group. The service was excellent and the gear was in great condition. They provided all the gear for the dives. First day was a shore dive at Electric Beach. The other two days we did boat dives from Honolulu. Highly recommend the boat dives if you can work that in. Less hiking with gear, and easy entry/exit without dealing with the surf. read more

Julian was my instructor, me first time diving. After covering the everything in detail from gear to diving procedure we went into water. It was easy to communicate and I felt comfortable. Going into the water and staying there is like entering their world, you are the guest/tourist. I don't known if it was a life changing experience but I will never forget it, overwhelmed with emotion just how relaxing it was to just focus on buoyancy and breathing that all problems were gone. I am happy to report that Hawaii Eco Divers earns my respect as the best dive outfit we have experienced in Honolulu. The review starts with the staff and crew, because they were responsive to my concerns about not being able to easily find the address of the boat for the morning dive. I got a call back before work hours and the crew made sure to help us to navigate the fastest way. Next is our Dive Master Sean! He is an excellent diver and his customer service skills are top notch. He was able to help our daughter equalize and took the time to make sure she could clear on the first dive. It took an extra 5 minutes, but his patience and perseverance paid off. He was careful about the deco stop on the ascent and I appreciate the underwater videos that he sent us when the gig was over! Tale of two experiences with the people being super nice and quite talented instructors but the business being run pretty poorly. We were staying North and booked them because they promoted being in that area. When we spoke in the phone they represented that as well. When we had to five we got a poorly worded email this diversion was in fact an hour twenty minutes away. When I arrived there is no sign, lots of other groups (with small signs) and they were late. When I called to ask for help no one answered because they are thin staffed and call forwarding is yet to be invented there. If you're a visitor and want service and organizational competency find a different dive shop. If you want to meet truly nice and talented dive masters this place is solid. J read more

We had Julian as our instructor. He taught our 13-year-old and 11-year-old basic certification and it was great. He was super patient and helped the kids with all their initial nervousness and we finished the third day with a boat dive off of the south coast of Honolulu, and it was fantastic. We saw sharks,moray eels, octopi, and many many turtles. read more

Did a two tank wreck and reef dive off of Oahu with Zoe as the Dive Master. We dove the Sea Tiger and Nautilus Reef and it was great, equipment worked well, Zoe was very helpful and knowledgeable and made sure it was a good experience for us! They share a boat with some other companies but my friend and I had our own instructor which was nice to be in a small group vice having one instructor for 4-6 people like some of the other groups onboard. I had also previously done one of their North Shore dives and really enjoyed that too. Definitely recommend checking them out! read more

I was looking for a company to provide guided scuba tour of the local reefs and came across Hawaii Eco Divers because they are on the north shore and I have always wanted to scuba there. They were able to book me less than a week out. Ethan was our dive master and he was awesome. From helping with gear to the safety brief and the dive, he kept us well informed and safe. We took the sharks cove north and south routes. My favorite was navigating through all the tunnels and caves. It was an experience I won't forget! He really knew everything about the area. There are many options of local Dive Operators to choose from when visiting Hawaii. I just wanted to be sure to connect with some good people and enjoy some good diving. What I got with Eco Divers was not good. It was GREAT! I attempted to get my AOW certification prior to coming to Hawaii and was unsuccessful. My local dive operator wasn't able to schedule a time for me. This led me to getting my AOW certification while in Hawaii. I originally spoke to Zoe over the phone. Zoe was great to speak with and I could tell she was truly happy to answer all of my questions to be sure everything was set up for my son and I. The phone call was never rushed and it was as if I was her only customer. I had the pleasure to meet Zoe on my last day of diving and she really is a genuine person! Eco Divers is lucky to have someone like Zoe on the team! She made it a breeze to get me scheduled for all the dives making up my AOW certification. My dive instructor was Julian. Julian as well was great to work with from my first dive to the last. Even when we had to cancel some dives due to weather and waves, it was nice to see that Julian and Eco Divers were willing to do whatever it takes to be sure they could get me in the water and get me certified. That spoke volumes to the kind of company Eco Divers is and the dive staff that Eco divers has. Julian was also great and patient with my teenager son that was enjoying his first Discovery Dive. After diving with Julian, my son now understands why I'm obsessed with diving! Julian also helped me get some epic video footage with the two Hero 10's that I have. Still putting the video together from those dives. The last day of diving I also had the pleasure to meet and dive with Mike. Mike is really a great guy as well and I had some great conversation with Julian, Mike and Zoe that evening. Eco Divers definitely has a GREAT team that knows how to create the customer experience and then exceed the customer experience when the worst happens and a dive gets canceled. Overall, I have tried other dive Operators in the past on O'ahu and had a good time. My time with Eco Divers, Julian, Zoe, and Mike were even better! If I would have been there more than the two weeks I was there, I definitely would have been out diving even more with these three and hanging out with them! Came to do a refresher dive and was pleasantly surprised and pleased with the instructor, location of dive and the dive itself. The instructors are knowledgeable and patient with everyone. Nothing bothered them. The location was cool. A bit intimidating as there are a lot of rocks on the beach and going out. The dive was great. The Eco Divers staff are super friendly and accommodating! Our guide Adam was great to work with and very professional. I'm certified and wanted to join my uncertified buddy for his first dive. They had no problem with me tagging along for the journey with two others. He did a great job preparing them with scuba skills and aiding them on the dive. He was sure to get GoPro clips of everyone during the dive - offered at no extra cost! We can't thank them enough for all the help and quick follow-up about logistics. They mention arriving 15mins early, but I would recommend earlier if booking a 1pm dive (super busy/lots of traffic). My daughter had her first shore dive with HED. I was unable to dive, but my daughter spoke with the HED folks on the phone and felt comfortable to dive. My daughter was paired-up well and enjoyed the dive as Sharks Cove. I was given great tips on the best area for snorkeling at Sharks Cove whole she dove and we both saw plenty of fish and a couple of sea turtles. Great team of folks working there. My son and I did our first discovery dive today and it was amazing. Excellent instruction and they made us feel very comfortable in the water. Ricardo and Nicole go out of their way to make sure that you have a great experience. The safety training was top-notch and we felt like we knew exactly what we were doing before we ever put our gear on. They put you through safety training in the water as well and make sure that you're comfortable with all procedures before going down. The dive itself was amazing, so much sea life and the divers are very aware of their surroundings and they are very familiar with the reef. I get a little anxious when the surfing big waves on the North Shore, so I took the apnea surf survival class. The experience was WAY beyond what I was expecting. Since prior to taking the class, I could only hold my breath for about a minute. I totally did not believe them when they said I would get to 3 minutes. "Just no way", I thought, "I'll play it safe and perhaps try to improve by 15 or 30 seconds". But 3 days later and I was able to hold my breath for 3 minutes and 15 seconds! As excited as I was to break 3 minutes, breath holding was just a very small part of the knowledge I gained from the course. I was greatly surprised by the deep extent, scope, and quality of training WELL beyond just breath holding. On top of that, Ricardo is not only a great teacher with a lot of energy for the subject matter, but he is humble, caring, helpful, and friendly. Safety and student experience are obviously his priorities. I would strongly recommend the course for anyone who loves the ocean. read more

They are fantastic. Before our trip, we had to change our plans a few times and they were accommodating and patient. Then, on the day of our scheduled shore dives, Bryson took us out for one dive and then said that the second wouldn't be worth it due to a strong current and low visibility. He was able to fit us in on a boat dive the next day and took us on two more amazing dives. We really appreciated his judgment call and his concern with the quality of our dives. He truly wanted us to have fun and see the most sea life we could. Bryson is an excellent divemaster. My boyfriend and I are both certified divers, but hadn't been in a few years. He went through the basics with us, made sure we were comfortable, and was extremely understanding and competent when I started to panic walking into the waves from the shore at the same time that my boyfriend was losing his fins. Bryson helped me calm down while grabbing my boyfriend's fins and we were all good from there! I felt silly after panicking but he acted like it was nothing. He's really kind and a highly skilled diver and instructor. I also really appreciate their focus on preserving the ecological integrity of Hawaii's waters. A++! You must dive with them. read more
